    Fried lotus root

We loved this place the last time we visited. This time I got the uni pasta and an appetizer order of fried lotus root. Delicious on the appetizer! I could eat a whole bowl of these. Service is attentive, ambiance modern. My uni pasta was delicious! Creamy umami flavor. My husband got spaghetti bolognese. This will be one of our go to places for pasta!

We came here after work as a friend recommended since it's fairly hidden. He said it was a Japanese fusion Italian with good drinks. M Bistro Beaux in Torrance is a hidden gem that blends Japanese and Italian flavors beautifully. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, perfect for a late-night dinner with drinks. Service is attentive, and the menu feels both creative and comforting. A great spot for something different in the South Bay.

Reopened now with pretty much the same menu, except new items on the daily special, such as Oden and Bolognese octopus balls. I think the octopus balls are fried, but nothing wrong with that. I also ordered my favorite sauteed brussel sprouts with balsamic vinegar.

Great new find for me in old town Torrance. Have great top shelf alcohol. They have Whiskey samplers which were great to sit down with a friend for a leisurely conversation. It was a sampler of Ballentine's 12, 17 and 30 year. We had already eaten but wanted something to munch on with the whiskey so we ordered their calamari and fried potatoes in truffle oil. Both hit the spot. Buon Appetito

    Fried Calamari

Did not know this little hidden gem was in old Torrance. Found it on Yelp, went it and was pleasantly surprised. Small and intimate, decor was the most interesting part with gates as little partitions. Forgot to snap photos of all the food we ate except for the first one which was nicely fried calamari, that was served very quickly and hot! The cocktail I had had a unique name and I wish I could recall but it was not too sweet, and all of the food we did order (and none of it is shown, we did a good sampling of a variety of things off the menu) was all served with just the right amount of heat, taste, quality, and attention to detail when serving to make sure it all came out at a good pace as you SHOULD expect. I definitely will be back and will catalog my experience next time with photos as it was truly a memorable time at this one delicious and delightful spot!

Such a variety of delicious eats, great to share with friends! Service is good! Not much for ambiance as it feels just like a restaurant bar. I would highly recommend the pizza with mochi and something else. And the mochi with prosciutto, yum! Must get!

This isn't Halloween decor. sign is flashing like a scene from a horror movie, door is boarded up, inside stench of rotten sewage.

This is so unfortunate I have to leave this after so many years of loyalty and patronizing this place!! I guess times have changed - first off, their name sign is flashing like a seizure inducing scene from a horror movie. Yelp says open at 5pm, but they make you wait until 5:30pm. Then, the place smells like SEWAGE from the moment you step through the glorious busted and boarded up doors - yikes, gross and unappetizing. The decor, once fun and chic, now looks like a basement from a SAW movie. Think rusty metal paneling with old chain link fences. Coupled with the sewage stench. And warehouse roller doors perma rolled up. Then... yes prices have gone up dramatically. Sure, inflation. But the straw that broke the camel's back... the owner... she kicked us out of our table half way through saying someone had it reserved and her staff didn't know, yadda yadda. Basically, I already knew, she had some JAPANESE clients coming in. This place is blatantly racist and unabashedly so. I have been coming here for 20+ years. I only get exceptional service when I'm with Japanese speaking friends. Sure enough, after she moved us to a less desirable table, a Japanese speaking group waltzes in. She says sorry, but you guys can stay as long as you want in the new table. One hour goes by... she has the audacity to come by and tell us customers are waiting for the table so we gotta skedaddle. We hadn't even finished our beverages that we paid for!!! Also, we went right at opening, 5:30pm.... Restaurant was empty and by the time we were asked to leave, there were still plenty of wide open tables. And we had been continuously ordering, so it's not like we were loitering. She did not offer us any discounts or comps for the MULTIPLE inconveniences. And wouldn't even split the tab the way we wanted. After our meal, we felt obliged to talk to her about our bad experience, since we were such loyal customers for so many years. We were met with a nonchalant GFY attitude. She literally doesn't care how loyal you are... too busy with her Japanese clients. She told us she's really busy right now and we had a 2hr time limit - this was never mentioned to us at any point. And never had this experience when I frequented in the past. She also passed blame on her staff multiple times, my biggest pet peeve. Just own your a-holery, it's ok. Talk about place I (and all my friends) never need to come back to ever again. Sayonara, beaux.

Loved our experience at this hidden jem. Don't eat the squid ink pasta on your first date lol your teeth will be black! But its worth it. This pasta was so flavorful and I was in love with the oysters in the garlic oil sauce! Karaage was cooked perfectly. Spagetti Crab Butter Rich and decadent and just how I like it! There was so much sauce packed with chunks of crab and loads of flavor!!! I read raving reviews about this dish and it loved up to the hype! We loved the Japanese Italian dishes at our last visit here that we had to come back yesterday and met the owner, Mami! She is super sweet and you can tell she really wants all her customers to feel at home. This restaurant, my friends, has unique creations that will have you coming back for more. It's a family owned business that has been open for years! I'm so glad we found a new go to spot! Please give them a visit and support local! They have seating that is socially distant to ensure safety or you can order takeout! You'll love the food, drinks and service here! . . .

One friend ordered the yakisoba and I tasted it which was very good, I will order it next time. My other friend ordered the mabo tofu which I also had a chance to taste and I could easily understand why my friend says this dish is her comfort food. I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen and it was so good! I took half home to share with my husband. There are so many other dishes I want to try next time! Free parking on the lot. Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.

I first had chicken gizzards, which had a nice soft crunch with a kind of rosemary seasoning. Next, I had the half chicken (baked) that was cut at the table. What makes this chicken special is the seasoning and sauce. Cheese was also added to the chicken as well. It was oh so tender and juicy. It had to be the most tender baked chicken I've had. I also had skillet fried garlic rice over eggs which was also seasoned real nice. It was prepared with house made soy sauce along with a special chicken broth. It was amazing! Chicken and rice may seem basic, but deep-fried dark meat chicken done right, like at Gaburi Chicken, is a comfort food that never fails to make me happy. I enjoyed their chicken a lot because they were flavorful and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not too chewy or full of tendons. The coating was not greasy, and it was almost airy. The savory chicken didn't really need a sauce, but the mentai mayo I added to my meal was tasty. Two thumbs up for all of the flavors and textures. The restaurant is on Marcelina Ave with some parking directly in front, but we had to park down the street and walk over due to some road closures. Inside is small and simply decorated, and the enclosed outdoor patio had a few tables available for dining. Staff were laidback yet attentive, doing their best to manage the lunch rush. Food did take a while to come out, but it was worth the wait.
