Hot coffee in a cold atmosphere. You are immediately greeted by passive aggressive notes (NO DOGS! NO REFILLS! DON'T TAKE CUPS!) and an extremely unfriendly, snobby staff. This cute little out of the way corner of a place, has great coffee house potential, however, it's too chaotic behind the counter. Some procedural improvements would help them to chill out a bit, in order to develop a more welcoming groove. Good pastry selection, especially the glazed donuts dripping with sugary goodness. Baristas need a lesson in proper cappuccino preparation. Serving them up a la Starbucks, with all that ridiculous foam is just plain silly and not Italian. Got breakfast this morning from Bistro Espresso after not having been there in quite some time. We ordered a couple breakfast burritos which were decent but nothing too spectacular. The ingredients listed (bacon, eggs, cheese, potatoes) are a good combination but it seems that there was any salt or pepper used during the preparation and tasted rather bland. Not a big deal as I'll plan on asking to have them add salt and pepper in the future but it was a bit surprising just how bland it tasted. The price was great though and I think fair for what it offered. Contrary to what other reviews have stated, the service that I received was good. The two women working greeted me when I walked in and asked for my order right away. As for what the other reviews state about signs and whatnot, they are accurate. The signs clearly should be refreshed in favor of other solutions. For instance, a sign saying "Don't help yourself to a cup" or something along those lines could easily be replaced by making the cups harder to reach so customers don't grab them on their own; same outcome but a friendlier approach. Same thing goes for the WiFi and a sign saying it costs money if you use it for too long. The reason businesses often give free WiFi is that it keeps customers around to buy more food/drink. I'll be back but would love to see them improve these items to have a more friendlier atmosphere. read more

This is such a little gem in the woods! Their coffee is on point. I always get a double espresso, but my family adored the snickers frappe and returned to buy more. It's perfect after a day viewing the sequoia or right before entering. That have artisan sandwiches and parfaits. It's such a cool find! Wow where has this food been all my life?? I had the polenta vegetarian sandwich and I didn't know you could make bread out of polenta but that was so special I have never had that before! I can see how some people might not like that the sandwich doesn't hold up in your hands like a normal bread sandwich but I always eat mine cut up anyways so I was as happy as could be. The fries... I had a religious experience with those fries I can honestly say those are the best fries I have ever had i my life. And the ketchup is clearly house made, it has some kick to it which I was obsessed with I want to buy a bucket to take home. My husbands steak sandwich was tasty but nothing to lose it over like I was over mine. 4 stars because although I loved the food, the average person would not be happy with the sandwich falling apart the first time you pick it up and the service was very slow with less than 10 people in the place, on the expensive side for a sandwich spot too. read more

We've been to this local coffee house several times. It's convenient, coffee and pastries are good, but i still don't understand why someone who does not seem to like people, owns a customer-centric business. I have yet to see him smile or say good morning. And if something is out, instead of saying "We've had a busy weekend". Period. Say "I'm sorry we're out, we totally underestimated the number of customers we'd get this weekend. We'll order more next time". Smile. Notwithstanding the fact it's Memorial Day Weekend. Maybe expect a lot more customers? How hard can it be to be friendly? I used to go in here just about every week (when I lived here!) and the owner, Larry, is pretty awesome. The coffees are good, speedy service, and usually the baristas are polite and helpful. There is a good vibe going on, and they don't make you feel like you have to rush in and out- you're welcome to stay and chill as long as you like. There is a book shelf and a bunch of mags and newspapers to look at, and free wifi of course! In the summer, I'd definitely go for the smoothies. They are THE BOMB. Any other time, I'd go for the delish home-made cinnamon rolls.They're really sweet and are best heated up. read more

Ordered a couple of coffee's and two breakfast burrito's. Regular coffee is self-serve; out of the thermos type dispensers. Poured my coffee's and moved to the side to wait for my burritos. Wait I did... apparently it's faster to serve the same ingredients on a croissant. As the customer that came after me, was served 5 minutes faster. It was also enough time for me to be asked twice if I needed something. "Yes! The burritos Ive been waiting 15 minutes for"! while you have been back there chatting.
