First time trying out this restaurant. I ordered the gyro combo plate, and I will say it was a lot of food. I had plenty leftover to take home. The plate included gyro meat, chicken, rice, and salad. I wasn't a huge fan of the salad since the dressing tasted a little weird to me, but other than that, the food was pretty good and the portions were great. My favorite was the dessert Pistachio Baklava, it's amazing! The location is super easy to find since it's in a shopping center, and parking was easy with plenty of spaces available. The restaurant also has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area looked really pretty and nicely decorated, and the inside was also very clean and well decorated. The employees were very welcoming and nice, so the customer service was really good overall.

Stopped by here while visiting Carlsbad and everything went well. Located in a shopping complex with plenty of parking, this place has a beautiful indoor and outdoor seating area. While all items were delicious I couldn't help but feel something was missing. For example, the salmon wrap was tasty but it needed more flavor. The persian pizza was delicious but the dough wasn't firm enough for all the toppings. The servers were all nice and polite but we needed to get up and ask for things. You order at the counter then seat yourself. There's no one to bring you sauces, napkins etc. overall, I was happy with our experience and if visiting Carlsbad I would come back to try other items.

Came here after work for some food and decided on a pizza. This place never disappoints. The pizza was delicious and cooked perfectly. People are friendly and the place itself has a very nice atmosphere complete with a very pleasant outdoor patio. I'm really starting to love this place. Thanks for all you do.

Pressed the surprise me button on Yelp and they suggested Bistro Kabob which is right next to work. They had a lunch special where you could get a gyro wrap for $13.99. Service was top notch and the ambiance outside is like you are on a Mediterranean island(I have never been, but I hope to someday). The wrap was packed with meat and really satisfying. I noticed next door at 5 Guys they also have a $13.99 special for a burger, fries, and drink. I don't know what is a better deal. I asked a bunch of people and they were split. Five Guys you also get peanuts to snack on while you wait, but you don't get the ambiance & feeling of Bistro Kabob. You are also supporting a small business at BK which I'm a fan of.

For freshness and quality you'd be hard pressed to find better. It's a huge, open and inviting space both indoors and out - and you can easily forget the shopping mall outside and linger here. They have some alcoholic options but it's all about the Persian food, if you ask me. Their koobideh combo plate (#2) was excellent! It's a chicken breast kebab with a ground beef kebab and comes with rice, salad, hummus, tzatziki and pita for about $30. Everything fresh and perfectly delivered to our table. Order at the counter seems to be the new norm so I'm overlooking it here. It's enough for two to split but more than enough for a very hungry man to not finish! We asked ourselves what we ever saw in Luna Grill for this exact plate of food and came up completely empty! They don't even come close! We will be back!! read more

Love this place for the food, atmosphere and owner. Patio is very well decorated, see their pics. Pros: Food is great, real Mediterranean food vs Luna which is the McD's of the greek world.. The Gyro plate was delish, I ordered extra gyro meat which was a mistake, would have easily feed 2 people. Boneless Chicken kabob was moist and tasty. Beef shish plate was huge (not cheap) but lots of food. I ordered everything to go and they did a great job packaging everything separately. Cons: not cheap like anything is these days. Boneless Chix kabob $18, Beef Shnish plate $23.50, my Gyro plate would have been $17 but I added extra meat so it was $26. BUT, like I said lots of food. side note, A couple pretending to be handicaped (saw them before their hustle) asking for money. Owner was immediately on it and called the police, if you live in Carlsbad you know the cops will show up and handle it, it's why we pay $2mil for a basic home.... read more

While I was in Carlsbad for Jet training for two weeks back in October 2025 I nearly went here everyday if not every other day! The owner is a great guy and the food quality is top. I'm picky and difficult to please but this place is easily 5/5. Clean environment, great workers, and overall just good service. I went in yesterday on the way down to San Diego from Irvine to catch my flight and took a detour to grab something to bite from them though it's 10 minutes off the freeway. Always will be a returning customer when in Carlsbad. read more

Came here with my family today, the atmosphere was so pleasant, we sat outside along a beautiful fountain and lots of flowers! We order chicken kabob, koobideh, and tabouli with a nice cold drink. Service was excellent and very friendly. We got a special rice with crispy bottom (tadig) super yummy with saffron flavor! Koobideh was juicy and chicken was tender. Everything was very fresh! We had the gyro plate and the combination plate. The salad that came with it was great (and the tomatoes were so fresh!) as well as fresh pita and yummy rice. We told the server the food wasn't good. Server was really nice and more than happy to help us. The owner came out and asked us where we were from, didn't even say he was sorry. He continued to be cold and very minimalistic with his questions. He didn't even care that we were bothered, didn't even offer to take off anything from the check . He could see on the table that no one had eaten anything. The restaurant looks nice, but does not taste nice. Don't be fooled. read more

Quick healthy lunch at the Bistro Kabob. Food was fresh and great portion size. I had the lunch special the Gyro. It filled me up and shared a walnut baklava. Staff is friendly and attentive. Always would come to this place after work to pick my family up food since they have halal food. My mom picked this place as her birthday dinner and I got to try their food out myself. My mom ordered the gyro bistro pizza and it looked delicious. I ordered the lamb shank and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was great. I ordered a Koobideh wrap & spanakopita for dinner because I had a craving for it. Unfortunately, I was super disappointed in the quality of the food. I love this healthy spot serving up made to order fast casual Mediterranean style food. I have ordered the salads as seen in pic, entrees and appetizers! This was the 3rd time we went to this place for dinner. The 1st time is was great the second time it was ok but last night was terrible we ordered 4 Solrani Kabob plates. First the Kabob was tasteless very dry and no quality meat. The rice was not prepared well. The plate was full but mostly with salad to fill up the plate. All the 4 of us didn't like the food. For the bad quality it was expensive. Not worth it at all. Since the quality has gone down, we won't go back. read more

Bistro Kabob is a family owned business that tucked away in the heart of Carlsbad. The ambiance is welcoming with an open clean space to dine in and a beautifully decorated patio area if you want to enjoy your food in fresh air. The food tastes like home, and the staff is always so welcoming and kind. Everything is exceptional and a must try. This has become my father's favorite spot and mine too. Almost fully halal. I overheard a worker state that the beef burger is not halal. Additionally, they have some pizzas with sausage which is not halal. They do also sell alcohol.

Oh dear. Having read through the many five star reviews of this pseudo Mediterranean restaurant I now understand what the "filtered review" section was created for. Seriously now, the staff or management of The Kabob Lounge would be better off taking notes from their many unhappy reviewers and revising the service, ambiance and food quality of this restaurant than in expending their effort and energy contriving and posting fake reviews. We live close by. My hubby and I were happy to see this place was opening and looked forward to exposing our children to Kabobs and other assorted Mediterranean food. That was until we tried this place out. Our food came out in segments. Not all together. Rather than let their food get cold we encouraged everyone to just eat. Everyone's bread was cold. Rice was a flavorless mound of white rice with a few pieces of yellow rice just sprinkled on top. None of our kids could stomach their cold meat slabs. We ended up packing those up to mince up in our dogs' food. Their salad dressing is lousy. Their Tadziki and whatever else that other pale gruel was...don't tell me it was supposed to be hummus---flavorless slop. Then there were the flies. Oh Lordy. One of our daughters has a low tolerance for insects of any kind...let along flies buzzing her food. Because of their fly situation we ended up changing tables. Twice. Please...just close your doors. Invest in a neon sign. We will all know you're open but have your doors closed to keep out the freakin' flies. Overpriced, flavorless food. I'd have awarded them 2 stars just out of gratitude that we didn't get sick but their influx of fake reviews makes me hate to feed the lie. read more

5-Star Review Bistro Kabob in Carlsbad is hands-down my go-to spot for Mediterranean/Persian food in the San Diego area. Every time I visit, the flavors, freshness, and generous portions remind me why I keep coming back! I ordered the Try It All / Mixed Grill platter and it was an absolute feast. It came loaded with juicy grass-fed New Zealand lamb chops (charbroiled to perfection), boneless chicken kabob, beef koobideh, and chicken koobideh. All grilled beautifully with that signature char and aromatic seasoning. The lamb chops especially are to die for -- tender, flavorful, and worth every bite. Everything was served over fragrant saffron basmati rice (that beautiful mix of white and yellow is always perfect), with fresh salad, tzatziki, and warm pita on the side. The meats were all incredibly tender and well-marinated, with just the right balance of spices. Paired with the rice and dips, it was a complete, satisfying meal that easily feeds more than one person. Service is friendly and quick, the atmosphere is welcoming (great for dine-in or takeout), and the quality is consistently excellent. The legion of fake reviews for this sub-par eatery makes for a misleading score. We've given this Mediterranean fast food dive three chances. They've managed to strike out each time. Then got around to reading their Yelp reviews. It doesn't take a private investigator to see this restaurant has someone working overtime to create a flurry of phony positive reviews. I'd have awarded them a mercy score of 2 stars but can't help but feel offended by their platoon of fake reviews. They lost one star just for generating multiple fake reviews rather than addressing the legitimate gripes of their own customers. Other reviewers have slammed their bread. For our family their bread was the best part of our meals. Lukewarm to cold---yes. But six laps better than anything else on our plates. Their sauces are a pitiful imitation of real Tzadziki or real hummus. Not only was their food unmemorable to vividly awful but they pitch a tip on your credit card at point of purchase. Oh please. What service are we tipping for? We had to fetch our own food and clear our own table. Get real. Free parking. Their only plus. read more

I was planning bump this lousy eatery up to 2 stars-- Just to be kind. Then I read through their numerous obviously fake reviews. They done bumped themselves up with all of their phony reviews. Nauseating experience here. Their front and side doors are left open all day so the dining room was teaming with flies. Buzzing our food nonstop. Our daughter has a freak out aversion to flies which made our lunch experience a living hell. I ordered a large combo plate. It ended up being about half a plateful of lukewarm white rice with a few kernels of suspiciously yellow rice thrown on top. All of their rice was lacking in any discernible flavor. Their bread came to us cold. Had I been blindfolded I would have been unable to tell you what sort of meat made up my flavorless kabob. The sauce and hummus that came with it reminded me of a scoop of spooned up mayonnaise. I would not have been able to identify either as hummus or Tzatziki. My wife is Lebanese American. I had the pleasure of trying Bistro Kabob for the first time, and it was an excellent experience! I ordered the Koobideh and Chicken combo, the Koobideh wrap, and a veggie pizza, and everything was outstanding. The Koobideh was incredibly soft and flavorful, while the Chicken Kabob was perfectly juicy and well-seasoned. The pizzas are wood-fired, which gives them a great texture and rich taste. To top it off, I tried their Persian ice cream, which was a delightful treat--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The hospitality at Bistro Kabob is also worth mentioning. The owner, Saeed, is very friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. If you're looking for Persian cuisine with a warm and inviting atmosphere, Bistro Kabob is definitely worth a visit. read more

Worse place! I have emailed them, I have called them (no reply or pick up till this day) to refund money from an order I made. I ordered two of the chicken kabobs, gyro, and lamb plate NO RICE NO PITA BREAD NO NOTHING! Just the meat itself!!! Maybe if the owner reads this they can contact me back because Ive been calling for refunds! Total was close to $60 NOT WORTH THE MONEY I PAID with nearly nothing on my orders. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The food was bland, poorly cooked, and lacked any real flavor. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself is extremely cramped--tables are packed so close together that you can barely move without bumping into someone. Overall, a disappointing experience.
