Incredible food. Great service with great prices. Incredible wine selection. But you have to try the crepes. OMG!!!!

We were so disappointed with the restaurant. To begin, this is not so much a French restaurant as it is a restaurant owned by French folks attempting to sell/cook/serve some types of French food. Let me explain.... Food: the halibut was salty beyond belief; the potatoes were bland and greasy with some cheese drizzled over them; the rack of lamb (highly recommended by the waitress) was, not bad, but far below average; the chocolate mousse tasted store bought (and not inn a good way). Service: barely there...second course arrived in the middle of the first course - the waitress's reaction to us was that we needed to make room for the plates and make due. this continued to happen. And to make matters worse, while she brought plates, there was no busing of the plates on our table. We literally had to start putting plates on the floor. We couldn't get her attention to get drinks even when she came to the next table. The one highlight, the bread and tapenade. If we had gone in and just had that and wine, it might have been a better review. read more

Had dinner last Saturday at Bistro St. Germain. AWESOME Tapas and my wife had the Rack of Lamb and I had the Steak Frites. Excellent food and the wine by the bottle is reasonably priced. We will be back! read more

This french-style bistro is a treasure. Country french cooking done well is difficult to find and this bistro should be applauded, patronized and celebrated for that very reason. This is a review of our fourth visit to BSG, this time to celebrate a birthday. It was the first visit for the rest of our party and everyone was impressed and left happy. Hans is possibly the best server at this level restaurant in the Long/Seal Beach area - he listens to his customer, is attentive, and he knows the menu. He is adept at food/wine pairing suggestions. The group ordered the Bouillabaisse, done in a relatively traditional manner, with a good amount of Saffron and accompanied by a rich rouille; a toothsome Beef Bourguignon, a large and well-presented pork chop, and a perfectly cooked rack of lamb. Prices are reasonable for such well prepared and presented fare, and the wine list, both by the glass or bottle, is well thought-out and stocked. Our only complaints about BSG is the seasonality of the menu - we sadly missed the tapenade, normally served with a entree baguette, the duck a'l'orange, a stellar favorite but apparently removed from the menu for the season, and the lack of a half roasted chicken, normally a mainstay of country french fare. Also, when the restaurant is busy the noise level is high, making conversation at a table for 6 difficult - probably made worse by the hardwood floors and the high, flat ceiling; however, none of these issues will deter us from returning soon. read more

We wanted to give the new place in town a chance. And we really like french food, so this seemed the perfect place for dinner. Until we got there. We walked in....no host or hostess. We ask a server if we can sit anywhere.....he says sure! But, we have to get our own menus and seat ourselves. I ask about any specials. They have none. They do have tapas, he says, but doesn't describe them. How does TAPAS fit into the french bistro they are trying to achieve?? Then, I am dying to try the crepes that other reviewers have said are so good. But, you can't have them for dinner. Only until 5 pm, not after. Ah, well........so I check the menu again and the lamb sounds good. But they are OUT of lamb, at 5:30 pm. The server tries to be helpful by saying the duck is a good substitute for lamb. REALLY?? Duck substitutes for lamb?? I guess he is no culinary school grad, but really, duck is not from the same world as lamb, so he should not suggest such a thing. I order culotte steak with bordelaise sauce. With it, you can order potatoes gratin dauphinois (their name, not mine), or fries. We think we'd like to try the gratin. We wait quite a while for our dinners, and we are served by one of the owners. He is very gracious for the one minute he is with us. But there are no potatoes on the plate. He has to go back for them. They are in separate little bowls. And I see why. Basically, this potato dish which is supposed to get browned and crusty, is warm potato with cream. Absolutely nothing browned on top, and no flavor other than potato and cream. It is usually made with cheese and garlic and perhaps an herb, but this honestly tasted like potato soup. Disappointing to say the least. The culotte steak was fine, a little over-salted, but fine, and the bordelaise sauce was good. We can't figure out how this is truly a french bistro...............two big screen tvs over the wine bar, tapas served (and by our observation far outselling actual entrees), and they can't make a basic gratin (Julia Child 101), so I was disappointed. The silverware had some cleanliness issues, and the server needs some culinary training. Oh, and french baguette is served italian style, with olive oil and vinegar, not butter. I may try again for a breakfast crepe, but I am going to give it a long wait to see if they can get their act together. Sorry, I really wanted to like it, but it needs a lot of work. read more

Came here for the third time today, hoping not to strike out. They were busy with Fathers Day crowd, loud soccer game and a cool band they I came to see actually. i love to seee business in my town succeed. It Didn't seem like a good to have live music play though with FIFA game. We put my name on the waiting list and waited patiently for our name to be called. 5-6 tables seem have left at same time and then another couple just sat down without waiting. I said something to the owner and he asked them nicely to get up which was good. He then sat us at a dirty table for 2 and we just stood there waiting for it to be cleaned. I finally asked him to clean the table for us and he was cleaning another open table first while we were still standing there for a minute. He's lucky I didn't walk out right then honestly. I decided to just sat down at the window at a clean 4 person table. He means well and he's a nice guy but I question his management. Why don't they have bussers? The place always seems understaffed each time I come here. We had a great waitress Lori who made up for and the better food and mimosas gets them a third star. We finished our brunch and I was disappointed to see the owner/mangers drinking beer and watching the soccer rather then tending to the new business... Not sure we will be back read more

We were at Bistro St. Germain for a private party some time back. There was a bustling guest list of 100-- the owners, the chef and crew were phenomenal in service. Throughout the evening, they greeted their patrons with some personable conversation. The service was swift and efficient... ah yes, and the food was great! read more

$12 bottomless mimosas...yes please! It was odd that all 4 of our meals came out at different times, but our server Lorre was awesome.

$8 lunch specials can't beat that. Three people plus a glass of house wine for under $40. Good food too.

Rude, rude waitress, had to ask twice for juice (was included in breakfast) then when she brought the wrong juice, after I pointed this out she stated "this is what you asked for" then left it at our table, returned 2 seconds later took the juice stating "oh this was for some one else" took it to their table ( I didn't point out that this was against health codes) food was cold and the service went from bad to worse. read more

Noticed this restaurant as we walked down Main Street. They have their menu posted outside. My husband and I were intrigued by several menu options that we enjoyed last summer in France. To start they have excellent crusty, warm bread. They also have small or large cheese and/or charcuterie (salami, ham, etc) plates for appetizers. They have a nice presentation with a ground mustard, sweet chutney, fruit, pickles, olives, and more bread. I had the filet mignon with green peppercorn sauce. This was my favorite main dish in France! Here the steak was perfectly cooked medium well. Just a slight touch of pink in the center, but still tender and juicy. Unfortunately the peppercorn sauce was too bland. Might have been improved by adding whole peppercorns. The pork chop with mustard sauce was EXCELLENT! The pork was perfectly cooked. The mustard sauce was just right. This dish was one of the best things I've ever eaten! The side dishes were also excellent. The grilled vegetables were great, as well as the potatoes, baked in a separate ramekin with cream sauce and cheese. We ended our meal with the citron (lemon) crepes. The crepes were freshly made and still warm, however we could barely taste any lemon. Would love to go back and try the French onion soup and salads. read more

Our first time there, for our anniversary. Delicious appetizers - escargots for one; smoked duck breast for the other-both wonderful. Entrees-Duck Breast and Lamb on a skewer. Both overcooked and dry. I must say, however, that the service was spot on-Lizette was our waitress, and she was delightful and very attentive. Went there for my birthday dinner. Looking forward to trying a new local restaurant. Service was terrible, Bathroom smelled like a urinal. Food server's apron was filthy with food stains all over it. We asked for wine by the glass on the menu and they were out of 3 of the 4 we asked for. Had to purchase more expensive wines from the chalkboard. I ordered steak medium rare with a salad in place of the veggies and frites. My friend ordered Halibut and said it was just okay. My steak was well done and very thin smothered in sauce (I mean swimming in sauce, not just a nice bordelaise for taste!) They brought veggies instead of salad and had to ask waitress for salad. I was a waitress for 15 years and so I know when someone checks out. She was not interested in making us happy. Whatever. We have bad days but the combination of cavalier service and bad Denny's quality food was very disappointing. The only redeeming thing was the chocolate mouse desert with a candle in it. Oh did I mention the fly that kept landing on our food? We asked her for a fly swatter and she said she would Windex it to get rid of it. We said no as we did not Windex all over our food!!!!! What a catastrophe. Next time we will stick with 555 East, Michaels in Naples, Niks on 2nd or Georges Greek Cafe. read more

Had a truly lovely experience last night at St. Germain. A friend and I went for happy hour and after a lovely glass of wine decided to stay for dinner. Best decision ever! We remained at the bar as we were having interesting conversations with other guests and the owner. Instead of the bar tapas, we ordered full dinners. I had the lamb chops ($26) which came with crisp mixed veg and a wonderful little pot of potatoes au gratin. My very generous portion of lamb was cooked to perfection and was truly fantastic! My friend had the duck which was also exquisite. For desert we shared a fresh fig tarte with vanilla bean ice cream and I was so full I waddled to the car with my left overs. Great food, friendly hosts and staff and a fun neighborhood place to see friends. This charming place is now on my list of favorites! read more

I loved it! We went to 360 Main and it was closed for lunch! So disappointed and so delighted to have so much to chose from for lunch and great prices for a half a sandwich or crepe and salad for lunch. They have wraps and sandwiches, complimentary tapenade. The waiter gave us samples of wine, which I would have love to have had, but it was a school day. Also, we were in a hurry because of this and they made us a dessert crepe really fast so we could get our kids on time. So good too! They have live music on the weekends and fun happy hours. My husband and I have gone two times this month and had a similar experience both times. The food was good, but our server, Jason (who we had both times), was not very friendly or attentive. We felt ignored both times we were there and it ruined the otherwise nice dining experience. The first time we were there, I waited 20 minutes for a glass of water. This time, we waited another 20 minutes to pay our bill when I think it was pretty obvious that we were finished and ready to go. And then there wasn't even a simple, "Thanks! Have a good night" when he finished with the receipt ..he just dropped it off and walked away. If you don't want to do customer service, don't go into the restaurant business. The other servers and employees at the restaurant were very friendly and one of them even came to check on us at one point when we were being ignored by our server. The food we had both times was really good though; tapas, entrees and desserts! I would still go to Bistro St Germain, but I think I'll try get a different server next time. read more

We have walked past this restaurant many times and were excited to finally stop in to try it for Sunday brunch. It will be the first and last time we go in. The service was megh but after waiting close to 40 mins for a "gourmet" burger and and soggy french toast - it was definitely not worth the wait. Especially after customers who arrived 30 mins after us received their orders before us. The burger looked and tasted like a frozen patty and brioche french toast was bread drowned in eggs then thrown on a grill for 2 mins to brown it - my mother makes better french toast with Wonder Bread. Also, the french toast came out 15 mins after the burger? I would have given them 1 star but I'm giving them two stars only because the owner came over to personally apologize and comp the bill since neither item was edible. He offered to let us order something else but after being there for an hour and being dissatisfied with our meal, we went to the Italian deli up the street instead (that place I highly recommend!). Frankly, I really wanted to like this place because it is charming and I love to support local owners but after this experience, we won't be returning. read more

I recently held my daughter's baby shower at the restaurant and we had 20 people attend. The service was great and the food was wonderful. We ordered chicken scaloppini and pasta primavera, both were delicious. The owner Armand and his wife were wonderful to work with. I won't hesitate to hold another event there. Really amazing food - have had brunch there a couple times and now dinner. I'll be coming back on the regular for sure. The place is new and the staff keep getting better as well. They also offer their full menu at dinner now so you can get items you used to only be able to get at lunch. We are residents of Seal and will be coming back on the regular for sure. read more

Went here because of a coupon I saw and have been back many times since. The service was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. With my grandmother I got a prime rib sandwich that was so good and big that we argued and had to ask a waitress because my grandma didn't believe how cheap it was (like 12$) for how good/big it was. I love to go on dates here because I can easily walk to the beach and have a great night. read more

This bistro was not up to my expectations. We were not greeted at the door, so we had to find our seats. There was no sign that said seat yourself. All of the waiters looked so confused it took so long to get our drinks and food. When I was about half way done with my salad, i noticed that there was a weird piece of lettuce on my plate. then it started to move. I noticed that in was a large green caterpillar in my lettuce. when we called the owner over, he started to blame it on the lettuce company. Then the man gave me a free dessert and at that point I was not going to eat anymore of their food. I ended up eating a half of a salad as my dinner. Yes the service was bad, but I found a live caterpillar in my salad. I am definitely not going back there for a while or until they stop serving caterpillars in their salads. read more

How can HH beers be 3.00 but some are more with no notice you finepeople have to many exceptions and weekly / daily changes, ok in first weeks but not after 3/4 months. Pascal let your brother manage and you oversee , ask your talented staff for input in a team meeting. yours is to fine to be amaturist in areas of consistency. this from a friend.
