Excellent food, friendly service, and the beer-brewed in house-was outstanding. We were a large group, but we were seated after a reasonable wait for a Saturday! Highly recommend, this place is amazing! We tried the scallion pancakes with a fried egg on top, the Chicago beef bao and the ssam plate - all to die for! The beer choices were extensive with unique but pleasant flavor and we tried quite a few. The bottom floor had a nice, open, and inviting feel, with views to where the beer is brewed. The newly added upstairs with outdoor patio was beautiful! The greenhouse inspired roof let so much light in and is retractable. Not only did it take over an hour for our food to be delivered, my order was brought to the table incorrectly the first time. & there were a lot of disappointing menu options. There cherry saison might be the worst beer I've ever tasted and the lamb cumin soup had wayyy too much cumin. No one apologized for the poor service despite the lack of cliental. The beer at this place is really good- and I'm not much of a beer drinker. You can even customise it with house made syrups! It was creative and delicious. The food was good, but not as memorable as the beer. The one dish our entire table favoured was the bao taco's with pork belly and pork char siu. Came in and had some french fries and a flight of beer. The decor and look of the place is really nice. Definitely different than your average restaurant. The mural downstairs of the city of Chicago in Black and White is pretty dope! Upstairs is full of natural light and looks amazing. Very cool ambience and great tunes bumping from the sound system. If you love craft beer AND are a foodie, definitely come here! The beers are all craft made in an Asian style. My friend and I did a flight of ALL the Bixi beers and every one was complex and flavorful, even the "lighter" ales. I'm an IPA gal but I really loved the complex, lingering flavors of the ales and lagers. They also have a Radler that tasted like fresh squeezed grapefruit (not like that gross syrup that some "fruity" beers use). The food was also really delicious and creative. I recommend ordering your apps and dishes, and then get a flight of food/beer pairings. All their dishes (including the apps) have beer pairings. read more

Guys! Guyssss!! Come here! Eat everything! I have nothing bad to say about this place. I came for a late brunch with friends and we were sat outside and distanced from other tables. The food and drinks were so good I didn't take pictures. We shared the Thai beef, chicken sandwich, the burger, drunken noodles, and the breakfast sandwich. Everything but the chicken sandwich I would order again. The vampire cocktail was delicious! Oh a hot day like today a must have. Everything was flavorful. So do not be afraid of the unique menu. I'm a super picky eater but had a great small group to do shareables with. This is the first 5 star review I've left in a long time and I was so surprised and pleased with our dining experience. Really nice servers. Food takes a while but it was busy and the servers were really mindful about making sure we were aware it was in just busy... Crab and shrimp dip- gourmet crab Rangoon comes with wontons...sooo good but sorta small for $15 but it's crab and shrimp so I get it. Bao burger- so good. Omg. It's comes really rare but I like that and I guess it's cooked in a super cool way. It was so good. So good. Get it. Pot stickers- really good. Can tell they're homemade. The vinegar sauce on the side also very good. 4 to an order. Idk call me cheap but I think pot stickers should be 5 especially for 10 bucks id care how fancy. But they we're delicious. This place is amazing! We came here on a Wednesday night with a group of 7 and were seated outside on the patio within 10 minutes. We had various items but the ones that stand out include the oysters, shrimp cocktail, ssam half plate, Chicago beef bao (order of 2), and salmon crudo. Everything was amazing and fresh!! Bizarre, disappointing experience. The food was fine (good, not great), but the service was really bad. I ordered the vegan soup, but our server brought me the chicken soup...after a no less than five minute conversation with him about how great the vegan broth was and how much I would enjoy it. He didn't recognize his mistake until we pointed it out to him, at which point he blamed the kitchen and sort of threw up his hands...only to then ask if I wanted the vegan soup. I don't eat a lot of meat (hence my order), but won't waste it once it's been prepared, so I just ate the chicken soup (it was tasty...just not what I wanted/ordered). He later confessed that he actually pressed the wrong button, hence the wrong order (crazy how that works...), which only added to the bizarre quotient after our convo about the soup. Also, before ordering, we asked to see the dessert menu (gotta conserve room if it's tasty!)...however, we sat after dinner with empty cocktails and NO DESSERT menus for at least half an hour. No server, no check in...just a really bad experience. We left with no dessert, and a wrong meal, which doesn't bode well for a repeat visit. read more

Amazing food and Bixi Brew with equally amazing atmosphere! Had lunch on the atrium like 2nd floor. Beautiful sunny open area. Had a grapefruit radler that was brewed downstairs in their brewery. It was a perfect blend of fruit with just a hint of bitterness for balance. Tried the chef recommended chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was huge, moist, flavorful and had just a little heat. The fries were great too! All together the lunch combo was only $16. On top of the great food and atmosphere, it was also a great value! To keep things affordable, I recommend aligning your visit with one of the weekly specials -- there's one that gets you and a friend a whole bunch of food and a pitcher beer for about $40. Love it! I've had their cocktails (Decimals Don't Count and Batch It Crazy are my favs) and their beers (love Shifties and Unspoken Rule). They have lots of vegetarian options like the kimchi mandu, which is like a veggie dumpling, and the mango salad. For meat/fish eaters, the lamb wontons, bao burger, and the tuna tartare are excellent. Let's not forget classics like the egg rolls and potstickers :) I recommend sitting upstairs, where there's a retractable roof and big patio. The main room upstairs is beautiful no matter the weather! This is a great addition to Logan Square--there's nothing like it in the area. read more

Maybe I'm an old fart, but I didn't feel cool enough in this place and got the feeling the bartenders felt the same and just wanted me to leave so I did after a beer and an order of the nuts. First, it took them way to long to get me a beer...then the nuts...Oy! I was expecting some flavor and heat...instead what I got was extremely salted peanuts that were very lightly oiled and had a good amount of paprika. No taste but salt salt salt. read more

My review is largely based on the beers I tried.  I probably would have given only 2 stars, but I liked the environment so I bumped it up one.  I sampled 3 beers: Chelonian Lair (Dark Ale), Sunsinger (Pale Ale) and Against the Cross (IPA).  I didn't particularly like any of them, but as someone who drinks a lot of pale ales and IPAs, I thought both of these were bad.  They had a bad, skunky after taste.  My wife also tried the farmhouse ale and wibier, and those were better.  I didn't try any of the food, but the beer quality of the house beers was not good. read more

Nothing about it said craft and was a bit boring and plain. The food was a disappointment. While trying to create a fusion between Chinese, Korean and other Asian awith American, somewhere it got lost in translation. None of the dishes stood out. The belt noodle did have a great texture, but the liquid base was sub-par. The baos weren't anything spectacular and missed the mark. The cheeseburger made with Chinese 5 spice and a piece of Chinese sausage is exactly that. You'd expect more from guys who make some of the best burgers at Owen. The spring roll was well made but nothing fancy. The fish was cooked well. The expectations were high but the food failed. The place is very large and well designed. Came here on a Wednesday night with my fiancé. I really liked how you walk in up the stairs and you can seat yourself. It was a slow night which was a plus so lots of open seating. We chose to sit on the rooftop patio. Loved the ambiance. We ordered two appetizers the Chicago beef bao and the pot stickers both delicious but for the prices we were expecting bigger portions. We each had two rounds of beers which were a refreshing change from other bars/restaurants in the neighborhood. The tab was over $60 which was the only down side of this place again the appetizers are bit pricey and for what you get not worth the prices (in my opinion). Also they add a 2% surcharge for employee health benefits which is honestly great but unexpected. It does say on the bottom to let your server know if you want to opt out but who wants to be THAT guy? Overall, we liked Bixi Beer and glad we got to try it. It might not be our go to but will be back eventually. read more

Checked this place out for the first time Wednesday night and loved everything! Our server was very friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I ordered the Chicago beef bao, the shrimp and crab dip, and the spicy fried chicken sando which we loved and definitely recommend. Bixi Beer has a creative selection of beers and cocktails. The Asian Fusion food is amazing. Various spices and sauces are used to create wonderful flavors. Loved the wontons and the huge noodle. I was extremely impressed. Did I talk about the atmosphere? There is a spot for you in so many different areas in this two story restaurant, from the living walls, to the couches in your living room, to the bars and need I not leave out the retractable glass roof and outdoor area. Nice staff, but many offenses. All four dishes we ordered were delivered at the same time, because we wanted to eat them all at once? The scallion pancakes were incredibly disappointing, doughy/chewy, couldn't even cut it with a fork. Crab dip, salt bomb, missing the best part of the crab Rangoon... the warm creamy cheese. The wontons were fried as big squares which just seems lazy bc no one wants to eat a big square of wonton. Chicago beef bao was good. Potstickers, super thick dough that was also chewy. I think I'm just still feeling the burn of a $85 dollar bill for an unsatisfying meal. read more
