I ordered from Bjorn cake at the last minute and they were able to fill my order for the next day for my twins birthday. They were easy to work with and VERY accommodating--allowing me to make adjustments. They texted me as promised when the cake was ready and sent a picture. The cake was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! My only big complaint is that the "cake to filling ratio" is off. There is WAY too much butter cream cheese frosting and not enough cake-- although I will say it was tasty. Then the cake part was also tasty, but we felt it tasted more like pound cake in texture. We loved the outside chocolate frosting. Other than than that, it was a good experience but I would strongly suggest more cake! read more

First and foremost, 1 star is being generous. This place deserves ZERO stars.   Quote - I wanted a number birthday cake for my wife and initially asked for a cake to serve party of 4 since we were from out of town and couldn't really have any leftovers.  Company failed to accommodate and we ended up reluctantly agreeing to something more expensive and that could have easily serve 12 people.    Communication - no communications (emails, phone calls, texts) done after prepayment made to confirm order, pickup location, date, and time, or any other details.  I had to call repeatedly to confirm the order in order to avoid any mishaps.    Delivery -  location was hard to find because the outside is Veruca Chocolates instead of Bjorn Cakes.  Doors were locked at 4 pm, which is the time I stated I would arrive because Veruca Chocolates closed early that day.  After calling upon arrival, I had to wait 15 minutes before someone opened the door which was very inconvenient because my Uber ended up having to leave me there.  The box the cake came in was horribly cheap, could not close properly, and just wrapped in saran wrap.  When I asked for something else to at least cover it up so it can stay a surprise, I was told to find something in my car or something.  I wanted to leave a tip, but after this changed my mind.   Taste - I ordered carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, supposedly a signature flavor of theirs.  It ended up being very dry and difficult to eat.  Wasn't sweet enough either.  Not much else to say, but that we were very disappointed.  We didn't even bother for seconds or leftovers.  It was such a waste of food.   In conclusion, trust your instincts and read reviews carefully.  The bad reviews are accurate when they say this place is a complete disaster.  Terrible experience and I would not recommend this place for any occasion. read more

I just had my daughter's third birthday party today and ordered a two-tiered Minnie Mouse cake from Bjorn Cakes after my go-to bakery, Bittersweet was closed this week. The interaction with the staff was very smooth with us settling on a design, flavors (lemon/ chocolate) along with the delivery date and time. First the cake was delivered 1.5 hours later than the confirmed time of 1.30pm. I figured no problem as the small event I planned started at 3:30 and I was told there were some extenuating circumstances that occurred on their end. The cake - delivered at 3pm - was then left at room temperature for 2.5 hours before we cut the cake. I was very excited as the cake did look very beautiful and looked exactly as agreed. Second however, as I tried to cut the cake - I had to cut through this super-thick fondant and when I finally got to the actual cake - the cake was still FROZEN and super dry! My bff and I wrestled with both tiers to extract some slices to serve my guest (including 3 kids) which was like surgery! We tried the top tier and the bottom and each tier was simply horrible. We piled some ice cream on there to make up for the obviously stale cake but actually had to abandon that idea as the final crowning glory on this was that the gold/ ivory beads used to decorate the edge of the cake were actual beads!!!!! Who puts inedible beads on a child's cake?? My kid actually took one of the beads and put in her mouth which I then had to recover forthwith. In all years I have ordered cakes for kids and adults I have never had to ensure that decorations on the cake were all edible! At that point I tossed the cake In the garbage. I will let the pictures tell the tale but needless to say the $16 Jewel Osco cake my bff ran out to get was a kabillion times better than the stale, awful $400+ cake I paid for. I called to provide immediate feedback and was told that the cake was baked today (absolutely no way!). I will never use this bakery again under any circumstances. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER! More than one week prior to date of event I go online to order a cake. I complete order form. I ask to get feedback regarding size and quote. No one returns calls so I called in and speak directly with Izzy. She asked for all the info over again even though she says she saw the order last week I gave her the info I ask if she wants payment she denies that and said she'll send an invoice via email once it is all confirmed. I mention I'd like to take care of this all today since I've been trying to order for a week now. She says not an issue I'll send you a confirmation email with the invoice and price and you can decide. Once paid the cake will be made and delivered. More than a couple of days passes and I have not received an invoice via email. At this point since no confirmation nor email being processed and I assume that this is not taking place - so I go somewhere else for the cake. The day prior to the event a cake shows up in my downstairs lobby - it is left with the doorman. I got a phone call from my doorman that a cake was left for me to pick up. 'Cake? What cake we never got any invoice Nor email confirmation of the order. I never paid for any cake. I now have to drive back across the city to retrieve said cake (box delivery cannot be left in lobby). Five days later I get a phone call voice message saying 'you have not paid for your cake You are overdue with your payment please pay for your past due order.' I call the number speak directly with Izzy and ask why are you billing me for a cake When you never sent me an invoice and I never confirmed that price. Why did you say You would send invoice and then not send anything. Not receiving an invoice tells me nothing is being processed how else am I supposed to read this... you now want me to pay for an 8"cake that you've priced at $289.25. What kind of bait and switch is this? How would you feel if this was done to you? Would you pay for this cake? DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE- JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Wow that's rich You seriously want to put that down when the whole issue that we're talking about here is us getting a quote and trying to pay for a cake - it's hard to pay for a cake when you can't get a quote! It should not take 5 days worth of back and forth emails, filing in online orders, voice messages and an actual phone calls to place and receive a quote. Even after the phone call I still did not have a quote on the price. This cake was supposed to be for a corporate Colleagues birthday. I was just the guy picked to take care of the process. We all waited to get the quote it was a group collective paying for our friends cake. I could not believe the process and neither could they. I was embarrassed for you as a company. It just looked really bad all around - lack of ease in ordering a cake. An Online ordering system is in place but apparently that doesn't generate a quote and your employee's lack of follow through is where this all went wrong. After more than couple of days of process and then not receiving a quote we were all frustrated with the process so we just decided let's just go somewhere else. When the call came through that a cake was delivered everyone was surprised. And more than one said, "They've actually sent a cake now? We never got a quote! How do they just send a Cake out when we didn't pay for it? Nothing was ever confirmed. That's just not right. What a horrible experience. So I ordered a Black cake with some Halloween decorations for my moms 61st birthday. I spent $400 was a cake that looked horrible. I really feel like I wasted my money and I just so disappointed I had to present this cake. Just getting it was an issue. But the cake design, so the cake tiers weren't aligned and it started to slide off the cake base. The decorations which were these dollar tree skulls and a little witch broom and hat which was so small and fell off. The foundant was at least an inch thick and cracked every where. I called Bjorn Cakes in April for a custom Puppy Dog Pals cake for my nephews 1st birthday. They explained to me how to go through the form of what cake I wanted, fillings and design. I had my wedding over Thanksgiving break. I went in for a tasting about a week and a half before. Kort was very flexible and sweet. I was annoying and ended up bringing an extra person to my tasting, but Kort did not mind at all. He set up an extra plate for my friend.
