She took our order but didn't bring our drinks till after she brought the soup. Then she brought the main course and we didn't see her again until we finished. She asked if we wanted dessert or the bill. We asked for the bill but again she disappeared. She brought others their meal but didn't come back to us for 15 minutes. She asked if she had brought the bill which she hadn't. She apologized and finally brought the bill. We both had the loaded potatoe soup which was good. We came here because my kids discovered their love for Potato Soup and I remember this place having the BEST. We were seated right away as we walked in and that is where everything goes downhill. It was NOT busy, there were tables open everywhere but they put us back in a hidden corner booth. No one came to our table to greet us for almost 15 mins, the waitress didn't even know we were there, she only noticed us there after bringing another table their check. We finally placed our drink order with her and waited another 10 mins for those to arrive. My daughter took a drink of her chocolate milk and it was extremely EXPIRED and smelled horrid! As we waited another 7 mins for the waitress to come back to notify her of the expired milk we realized we had been sitting for OVER a half hour without even placing our meal order. When our waitress came over finally and we explained the milk issue and that we just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. She comped the 3 sodas and the sour milk and we walked out. We are visiting Wisconsin from Florida and were looking for an early dinner and came across this place looking for a Wisconsin fish fry. We were seated almost immediately and were given menus to review. There are six pages of food options which is almost overwhelming, not including the specials, which was options of fish choices - cod cooked three different ways with a side choice. My spouse chose breaded and I chose baked. Each with a baked potato, which was baked with sea salt on the skin. Keira, our server took out order and in five minutes showed up with a bowl of German potato salad in warm bacon dressing, coleslaw, baked apples in a sweet sauce and a bread basked with butter. She dove into the options as a bonus which was not expected. Our dinners were delivered by a kitchen runner and also includes green beans almandine ( over done beans) and tartar sauce for the fish. Our server checked back with us for satisfactory taste and when we were full, came back and skied if we wanted dessert, even when we could not eat all of our food brought to the table. My first time visiting. I was sat down promptly and the place wasn't packed. I was sat down with a menu... and that was about all I got. Several servers were tending to nearby tables but none approached me. After almost 13 minutes of not even being acknowledged by any server I got up and walked out and no one even asked why or thanked me for visiting. I guess they don't need the business . This was our first visit to this location. With its country-style theme and gift shop, it's similar to Cracker Barrel. But Machine Shed serves heartier portions. We especially like all the fixins' and sides that accompany a meal, and we're also fond of salad bars. The baked-in-house breads are yum. It's easy to fill up before the entrées arrive ... ... Which was good 'cause I reckon things were not goin' too well in the kitchen that day. My Missus ordered the double-cut Iowa pork chop. It was neither tender nor juicy as she anticipated, but the accompanying gravy did make it palatable. I ordered the Heartland Combo, a pork combo plate. Two of the three items were okay though slightly overdone, but the bacon-wrapped tenderloins were incinerated. I flagged our server, who was friendly and understanding. Well, the replacement he brought out 15 minutes later all but squealed oink - the centers were RAW. Another 15 minutes went by. The third time wasn't exactly the charm either, but at least it was edible (after I brought it home and drenched it in barbecue sauce). On a positive note, the restaurant manager did stop by our table to express her concern and apologize. Next time, we'll be sure to try different entrées. read more

Roasted turkey with all the fixings is my all time favorite meal. Even though Easter was just a couple weeks ago and we had the full spread, I was craving it again tonight and was so pleased to find a local option that does it from scratch. Sat in the bar area which was nice and quiet, the staff were super attentive and friendly. This is a ton of food, very flavorful and fresh. Took more than half home for another meal tomorrow. I used to work in the office building right next to Machine Shed, so many times I enjoyed the blackened chicken Caesar salad and club sandwich for lunch. I don't recall stopping for breakfast often if at all, though, so I wasn't aware they had a build your own breakfast burrito option (it includes eggs and up to five other ingredients). I called in an order for a cinnamon roll and a burrito containing bacon, diced sausage, spinach, and queso fresco. The burrito comes with a side of fruit, which was fine with me, so I didn't bother to ask if it could be substituted for something like hash browns. There was watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries, and pineapple in the container. Watermelon is currently out of season, so it wasn't the most flavorful, but the others were as expected. I really hoped I would love the burrito given that I got to choose the ingredients, but it was just ok. The queso fresco was dominated by other flavors so I wish I had added another cheese (the menu lists Swiss and Colby Jack as options). The sausage was more like kielbasa than traditional breakfast sausage. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. The cinnamon roll was HUGE. I weighed it when I got home and it was 1 lbs 6 oz. The inside was on the dry side and there wasn't a ton of cinnamon inside. There was a ton of frosting on top though. As excited as I was to try the breakfast at Machine Shed, I'll just stick with their lunch options. read more

The chicken was slightly rubbery and lacking in flavor. My mom ordered their loaded potato soup, which I had a bite of and found to be tasty. I'd definitely order that were I to stop by again! I came here for lunch with coworkers while on a work trip. We arrived at around 12:30 with a group of 5 and had to wait around 15 minutes to be seated. While waiting we browsed their lobby which doubled as a gift store with interesting products for sale. The restaurant decor was country themed, reminding me of a Cracker Barrel interior. Once seated we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip to share which was a tasty treat while waiting for the main dish. I ordered the brisket sandwich. It took about 20 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. Everyone's food came hot and fresh. The brisket sandwich was tasty, but doesn't stack up against some of the better BBQ places I've tried, especially in the south. The service was just ok. One of our international guests requested room temperature drinking water, and they were unable to accommodate. He also requested that they bring hot tea at the end of the meal, and the waitress insisted that he remind her later at the time when he wanted it. I have been eyeing this place the last few times I stayed in Pewaukee. I wanted to love it but... sadly it was a disappointment. The baked potato "soup" was so thick I literally could eat it with a fork, not what comes to mind when I think soup. I got a bread pudding to go. It was cold. Maybe that's how they do their to go orders of that dessert but if I'd known I would not have gotten it as I'm at a hotel so it's basically garbage. I took one sip of the very dark iced tea which usually means it's old and very bitter and it was. Told the waitress it was undrinkable and still got charged almost $4 for the crap tea. We arrived excited to try their expansive menu. My friends had each been there too, but many years ago. It was a bit quiet but it was 2:30 when we arrived, the Brunch ended at 1:30. The waiter was rushed but we learned they were down 2 waiters. We started with Haystack onion rings which were very good. I was undecided on Liver or a Ruben, I chose the liver. That was a mistake. The liver arrived and I had taken a couple bites of a piece that was not crispy and the flavor was good. I was so full from the onion rings & I wanted cake also, so I decided to take the rest of my dinner home. I didn't realize how dried out the liver really was until I went to warm up the food for dinner that night, almost every piece was over cooked and crispy on the edges. The Carrot cake at the end of the meal was pretty standard. Other than the large piece we were served, nothing to brag about. One of my friends had the Chicken tender (strips) which were excellent & looked very tender and large. My other friend had a sandwich with was excellent she said. So, there was out lunch. The Machine Shed is fine - they do a good job of serving up American classics, especially at breakfast. The inside is farm themed, kind of like a Cracker Barrel (complete with attached gift shop). Prices are very reasonable and the portions are enormous. I had eggs, hash brown casserole and a biscuit - everything was pretty good except for the sausage gravy which had no flavor whatsoever. I would have given this a 4 star review but with how the lady at the front treated us when we came in at 2:00 (they close at 3). She wouldn't even acknowledge we were here and when someone was nice enough to help seat us, all you heard her mutter was that they close at 3 while she walked away. The chicken pot pie is always great, and like usual I burn my mouth on it but it's worth it. I was a little disappointed. I heard a lot of good things about the Machine Shed. It's a little overrated. My daughter and I went here on 8/31/24 for her birthday. I had the Beef Brisket Sandwich. The meat was fatty and a little tough. The BBQ sauce had very little flavor, not a fan. My daughter had the Mac n cheese. She enjoyed it.
