I reviewed this place many times since coming here in 20 years in the last few have been somewhat complaining certain things but that is definitely been remedied because the last three visits my meals have been absolutely perfect. They're back to their old standards and I am very appreciative of that fact. Can't say enough about the quality of the food, the taste of the food, and the superb service, especially with my server that I've had quite often, Sherry, oh, I appreciate it very much because everyday works her butt off. Excellent omelettes and the best American fries! The Swiss mushroom burger I had once was so good: juicy and tender with plenty of mushrooms and cheese. The soups are standard diner soups although I think that the dumplings are homemade in the chicken dumpling soup-- yum! The service is excellent! The waitresses are always so nice and friendly! I recommend giving Spring City Restaurant a try if you haven't, or if it's been awhile! I frequent this place as both a delivery driver and a customer. In both capacities, the staff is very kind and I always see them hustle. Service is speedy for both dine-in and carry out/delivery. The restaurant interior itself is outdated but well maintained and reliably clean. It definitely tends to draw an older crowd, but I would recommend younger people give it a chance, as their food is satisfying and the portions are huge! You definitely get your money's worth, and then some. I also appreciate how many vegetarian options they have, as someone who does not often eat meat. And I personally recommend trying the fries, either as a side or appetizer, because they have the BEST fries! The parking lot is nice and large too and I have had no issues with parking or leaving. And they seem to keep the lot clean as well. It is also wheelchair accessible, if that's a need for you. It is also very close to the I-94 exit/entrance ramps, which makes it easy to get to if you're a traveler in need of some good food! read more

Wait here an hour before closing after a concert. We walked in and they said they were still open but there was no soup available or coffee. I found that kind of strange that coffee wasn't even available with an hour left of operation. These were the two things we were looking forward to on a chilly evening. Anyway, ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with fries, and a spinach salad. The chicken Caesar wrap was cooked perfectly, and very flavorful and delicious. On the other hand, the spinach salad only had spinach, and no other vegetables. I found that the staff was very courteous and attentive. I realized really don't have any control over the overall operations of the restaurant. Definitely will come back during regular working hours, and not expect the same result. read more

I have been driving past this place for years so when I saw it the other day I said I would go for breakfast here. The place was your typical Greek looking diner with green carpet and lots of wood and color on the walls. A fireplace was in action which was cool. Every table had a vase with a real rose in it and it was Valentine's Day. There is the Rox bar and grill on one side of the building which looked closed. At 8 am on a Sunday it was quiet but people steadily walked in while I was there. The breakfast menu has all the typical stuff with and $5 bloodys and specials. The chicken fried steak caught my eye so I asked was it frozen and for once she said no it's made in house, I have not found a real one in many years so I asked her again and she re assured me it was real. I ordered the chicken fried steak with two eggs, American frys and toast. The eggs were perfect sunny side up. The sourdough toast was nice because that's my favorite toast option and I liked the fact they had it. The American frys were cooked perfect to my liking. The chicken fried steak was in fact house made with sausage gravy on top. The gravy had only one pieces of sausage in it, see my picture. The chicken fried steak was ok, not the best and not the processed frozen crap. The steak was actually cube steak but I didn't mind because at leas it was not frozen. Overall I'm going to give 4 stars because of two key things and that my breakfast was good. The sourdough toast was a nice fourth option and the fact that they do a real chicken fried steak. The service had no issues to complain about and my experience was a pleasant one. read more

Spring City is a solid, diner style restaurant complete with a dining bar if your by yourself or a regular restaurant room if you prefer table service. I've been there twice and both times the service is quick and friendly. The menu is varied but being a sucker for open faced hot sandwiches smothered in gravy, on both my visits that's what I've had. The roast beef sandwich is pretty good while the gravy for the turkey sandwich was a bright yellow and not quite as good. Both times I also had a cup of chicken dumpling soup which is really delicious! I definitely recommend Spring City as a nice, local alternative to the chain restaurants in Waukesha! read more

Undazzled by breakfast here. The menu looked hopeful, service was good. The food however was off and untasty. Stale coffee, almost unacceptable biscuits and gravy. They tasted like school paste. Grossish cut up sausage links on top. I shared a skillet. Even though I politely requested crisp hash browns and bacon they came out limp and forlorn. Places that can't get breakfast cooked to order are a one & done in my yelp diary. read more

After seeing a decent menu with a nice balance of sweet and salty selections, we stopped by Spring City for breakfast this morning. It was fairly busy but we were seated right away and helped within minutes! Nothing stunning about the atmosphere or decor but our waitress was upbeat, polite and very attentive. There's a large variety of choices, build-your-own options and plenty of specials available. The food took a little longer than I'd expected and unfortunately wasn't very warm upon arrival but it still tasted pretty good. I went a little out there and ordered a chocolate shake, which was okay but nothing special in comparison to even the Dennys across the street. Bottom line? Great staff and quality service, I'd come again if I was invited along but I don't think I'd recommend it or go put of my way. read more

Do not order pizza at this establishment! I would rate zero stars if that was available. After a long day on the road I checked into my hotel and Yelped for locations within walking distance. Yelp rating was average, but did not want to go for fast food. I ordered a pizza. I did this only after asking my waitress if the crust is frozen crust or made from scratch. After I was told it was made from scratch, I figured I would have a reasonable dining experience. When the pizza arrived, I was surprised that the pizza was cut into 3 inch squares. Quite usual for a 12 inch round pizza. It went down hill from there. The pizza crust was approx 1/8 inch think, dry and tasteless. Similar to an unsalted soda cracker. After having 3 pieces, I could no longer stomach the crust. I then proceeded to eat the cheese and toppings. Did that for another 1/3 of the pizza before I could no longer eat that lousy pizza. I asked for bill and mentioned the issue to the waitress. She charged for for that disaster, called pizza. Paid the bill and went for a Big Mac cause I was hungry. read more

An update on the pizza. Still great pizza so long as crust isn't over baked. This is the place to go if you don't want a crowded Pizzaria.

Stopped in for breakfast after seeing three and a half stars on Yelp! We waited in the doorway for several minutes before anybody acknowledged us. No one ever came to greet us, but a waitress put menus down on a booth and said, "Here ok?" and walked away. Our waitress came over and greeted us and asked what we wanted to drink. She bordered on rude. She told us they had lattes but only pre-made from a machine. We settled for water and a regular cup of coffee. She brought the drinks. My wife's plastic glass was completely chipped around the edge! The coffee tasted soapy, the food was so greasy my eggs where sliding around my plate, and the bottle of steak sause had more of it on the outside than on the inside!! My wife's fork still had yolk on it from the previous guest! Overall I would never go back or recommend it to my worst enemy!! read more

Over all a good experience. Lunch fish was hot and satisfying, strawberry salad was large and had a good choice of lettuce types. Soups were fresh tasting and yummy. Value? That is where they need work. Over priced is the best way to put it. That is where they lose a star. Could safely knock a dollar or two of the price and bring in more people. read more

Lackluster waitstaff service. Excellent food. I was overheard by the manager sarcastically saying "if they wanna replace my salad with a new one, I will happily eat another one." A minute later I was presented with a second one. Its a little unusual how willing they are to admit they buy the salad premixed in a bag. A fact about me is that I grew up in New Jersey. A fact about New Jersey is that diners are a major portion of the culinary landscape. So when given the chance to try out a Midwest diner called Spring City, I was excited, even optimistic. That, however, did not last. The service was sub-par. Our waitress, obviously more used to talking to the senior citizens which frequent the establishment, was awkward and unsure of how to talk to us. This resulted in her hovering or lurking around the table in silence for a good 10 seconds before deciding what to say, if anything. When we received our appetizer we were not given plates and then, upon asking for them, she seemed annoyed as though we hadn't yet given her the proper amount of time to fetch them for us. When I asked for a refill on my drink, she sighed heavily and seemed put out that she had to do something further for us (as she had already dropped off the bill less than halfway through our entrees). After this point she made it abundantly (repeatedly, constantly) clear that we were free to pay her at any time. On to the food, though. Our appetizer was the combo plate, which boasted fried mushrooms. One bite of the fried mushrooms showed that not only were they tough, but they were also wet and slimy, which is consistent with food being fried from frozen, not made fresh. The marinara served with the combo platter was separated and runny, with the oil spilling out and flowing around the plate. My wife, for her entrée, selected the "famous" gyro sandwich. The website and menu boast that the gyro meat is "fresh from the cone" but we are fairly well convinced this is a lie. As an above review of the restaurant points out, they admitted that their salads come from a bag. Our fried mushrooms clearly arrived at the restaurant frozen and were then fried. The gyro meat, while in the standard strips, was very precisely and properly cut, giving it the appearance of prefabricated and machine-cut meat. It was also lukewarm at best. Having eaten at a local Moroccan restaurant and ordered meat fresh from the cone, we are dubious that it is the case at Spring City. My entrée, though, was another matter. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger: simple fare that I've had at almost every restaurant in Waukesha, Wisconsin. However, what I received was unacceptable. The bacon was almost completely uncooked and the cheese was past its prime. Even after being cooked and melted, the cheese was still definitively slice-shaped because it was past its prime and developing a rind. When I pointed it out to our server, she asked if she could show the cheese and bacon to her manager. I said that was fine and off she went with my plate. Five minutes later she returned without my plate and said, simply, "I showed it to my manager and he agreed it was bad. If you had said something sooner we could've done something about it." Then she disappeared with no opportunity for a replacement, refund, or apology. I asked to speak to the manager before paying and while waiting 10 full minutes for him to be free enough to talk, another couple asked me about my meal. When I explained to them what had happened, the wife decided that her misgivings about the restaurant were appropriate and they opted to eat elsewhere. When I finally spoke to the manager he explained, again, that they could've done something about my burger if I had said something about it earlier, to which I complained that I never should've been served unprepared food in the first place. I also explained that while the bacon and cheese were off, I WAS fine with eating the burger itself and the fries, both of which were thrown out by the server instead of being returned to me. At this point, though, it was clear the manager had decided I was simply trying to scam a free meal from them and wasn't having any of it. He argued vehemently with me that they hadn't done anything wrong and that their food was fine and the service was acceptable. I, however, strongly disagree. No restaurant which serves frozen, pre-packaged, undercooked, and spoiled food with awkward, uncommunicative staff should ever be deemed acceptable. My recommendation is to avoid Spring City Restaurant with all possible effort. I have been to many, many diners in the world and I have never quite regretted it like I did today. read more

I was there the night Nikki was there. All she did was complain the whole time she was there. Before her food came, she tried to control, unsuccessfully, her children. The whole Northwest corner of the restaurant was being disturbed by her. She was oblivious to my looks over my shoulder showing my displeasure of her and her group. Then she complains about the food...hearing that she was going to have a sleepless night because of her acid reflux and getting halopeno peppers in her meat, which was green peppers and onion....too spicy fo her, etc, etc....she even complained after the owner took the salads off the bill....she even complained how the waitress split the bill and made her redo it..... Nikki, I was actually beside myself ready to give you my piece of mind but didn't want to stoop to your level. If your party left a scarf under the table, it is in lost and found at the restaurant.
