I've been coming here since it opened. Food is always consistent and I put up with the average service. Yesterday is my last day there! I had a business meeting there. After we were sat, it took 30 minutes to come and take our drink order. We had to complain to manager twice just to have someone take our order. To top it off, we had our bill ready to pay for 20 minutes until they finally picked it up when we could get our waitresses attention. Manager didn't care to apologize in person. read more

Had an incident that occurred at bj's in Downey. Faith, the manager, was amazing in reacting quickly and fixing the situation with kindness and patience. She could have just easily asked if I was okay and not checked up on me. But she went to check up on me multiple times, asked if I needed anything, and kindly comped my meal. Faith did not just do the minimum. She went above and beyond in customer service and making sure my experience at Bj's was not a bad one. After my incident I was hesitant to come back to BJ's, but with someone like Faith managing and doing everything in her power to make my dining experience the best. Which she did! I will definitely tell my friends and family and will greatly make Bj's one of my top dining locations. read more

walking into BJs today I was eagerly greeted by Leanne, she was so nice & kept a good conversation while walking to our table we wanted a booth instead of a table & she figured it out as fast as possible, we were sat at a booth with a great server named Matt he was helpful took our order fast & brought us waters without us even asking I didn't hesitate to give matt an amazing tip! I ordered two pizzas one hand tossed and deep dish. The pizzas were very salty especially the deep dish with extra pepperoni. The pizza was also not hot was very lukewarm. We had one large and two small's with three drinks total price 68 dollars. I would've rather had an 8 dollar deep dish pizza at Little Caesars. read more

We seldom come to this restaurant because we had a bad experience before. We were seated after 20 minutes of waiting and place our order immediately since we know what we wanted to have. The bake zitti was served first. Then pizza came in and when I had my first bite, it was the worst pizza I ever had. The crust was so hard and had a very stale taste on it. It seems that it has been inside the oven the whole day except the temperature was only 100°C. And to add more insult to injury, we were not given any utensils. We have to get the attention of 2 waiters. After 5 minutes we were given one set and was told that they will give us 2 more immediately. Guess what? It has been 20 minutes and still my kids ate the zitti sharing the fork. I will never ever come back to this place. If I can only give 0 star, I would!!!! read more

We went here for my daughter's b-day and I expected more from this place since there was people here waiting to go in I was like it must be good nah!!! To me it was too expensive for the yucky food well at least my food SUCKED! If i could give no star at all, i would... My boyfriend had never been to BJs. So i decided to choose BJs for our night out so he could try something different. Since his diet is way different than BJs menu...Dont even know where to start. The 30 minute wait, was understandable, since it was on a weekend (Sunday). We were seated but the person that seated us didnt even bother to ask if we wanted to start with drinks. Seated us, turned away and left without a word. We waited for another 30 minutes for someone to come take our order. Then, i believe one of the managers passed by and asked if we had been attended. My boyfriend, already a little disappointed, told him we hadnt. So he proceedes to take our order. Didnt even wrote order down. Twenty minutes passed by and not even our drinks had arrived. A waiter passes by and said he noticed we have been sitting there for quite a while no menu nor drinks. We told him our order had already been taken. He went and checked and brought our drinks. I order a margarita and my bf a long island. Drinks had no liquor at all. My boyfriend already frustrated and hungry flags down the waiter and explains the cituation to the waiter.He takes the drinks and brings us lemonades, which we had ordered instead. Manager comes by with out food and apologizes and says he forgot to put our order were it should been prepared...or something like that. My bf friend then tells me, how can he can forget to put in the order. All this time since we were seated, waiters attending nearby tables completely ignored us, not even bothered asked if we were being attended. But the waiter who brought our drinks. We felt completely ignored. Even worse, when our food arrives, the dish my boyfriend had order was a simple small piece of steak and 4 sparragus with a very bland salad on the side. He was so very disappointed with the presentation the dish had. Quickly told me, "im sorry babe but if i were a chef, i'd be embarrased to serve something looking like this". He was very angry. I ordered the Peruvian quinoa bowl. Half way eating....I feel a hair in my mouth. I showed my boyfriend. I was disgusted! I didnt finish my food. By this time, my bf had already had enough with the restaurant. He flags the waiter...again...since no one bothered to ask us once in a while if everything was ok. .and asks for the receipt. Ge gets the receipt and notices he was being charged for the salad separately...when it was suppose to have come with his "steak". He gets up frustrated to look for the manager and explains the WHOLE cituation to him. My boyfriend, pays and we walk out with total disappointment with the service we were given and not given. First off let me start by saying I love to come to BJ's Restaurants and I have been to quite a few. I am not sure why I continue to frequent this particular restaurant. Each time I come to this restaurant I have encountered such poor service and incompetent servers. The wait time is horrible even if you call ahead and they give you an estimated time you will still have to wait the time they tell you when you actually arrive. So there is no point in calling ahead. Today my son and I decided to come because we haven't been here in quite some time and figured something should have changed since our last visit but no it is still the same. We decide to sit in the bar area in a booth as suggested by the hostess as service would be quicker. But no, we sat at the table for 11 minutes (yes, I timed it) before I had to go and complain before we were even greeted or offered drinks. Seriously? 11 minutes that is ridiculous!!! So finally they send someone over to greet us and apologize. We ordered our drinks and food as my son always orders the same thing. But the food takes even longer which is surprising since the place was practically empty. The food was overcooked and dry. Very disappointed:( My son didn't even finish his food. This Brewhouse serves up TERRIBLE SERVICE! I've been reluctant in writing a review because I want to like coming to BJs. I enoy the sports theme bar atmosphere but the service staff is really just not up to par. I have a better time at Elephant Bar. This our third visit and my daughter asked for a pepperoni pizza with no sauce, THIRD TIME THEY BRING THE PIZZA with extra sauce no pepperoni. How hard is that people? BJs is one place I go to for excellent service and it's primarily because of one of their bartenders / servers - Cayla! Not only is she genuinely friendly, but she's knowledgeable and knows how to make a mean recommendation! She also goes out of her way to make your dining experience unique. Her authenticity makes you just love her and connect with her. That's a trait that can't be taught. She makes me and my friends feel welcome every. single. time. BJs is such a gem in downey and it's because of people like Cayla that make their customers feel special. Went in today because I was craving a steak. Made a reservation thru the app. Wich is very convenient. I ordered the Rib eye medium. 40 minutes after we were still waiting on our food. The people next to us wich got there after we did got their order first. When we finally get our food, my steak was so over cooked it looked like a piece of charcoal!!! I spoke with the manager he said he would bring me out another steak. 20 mins later the second steak came out and it was even worse!! The steak was completely black! So over cooked that it wasnt even tender just a hard piece of steak!!! I was extremely disappointed and angry! I didnt even try to eat it!! I just asked for my bill and asked to speak to the manager again! I payed! Waited for about 10 minutes and the manager never came! As I was leaving I noticed the manager just hanging around the bar area. I used to love going to BJ'S but after this experience I will never take my family there or recomend this location to no one!!!! If I could give it zero stars or even negative stars I would! Agh! I love this place. Everything I've tried, I like. Their lunch special items are pretty sweet too. I usually get the chicken teriyaki plate. I looove the mini bruschetta. The avocado egg rolls are mouthwatering and I love the dipping sauce. The santa fe spring rolls are good. The kids menu is great and mix & match too for my picky little monster princess. I always get great service their. Once I went for my birthday on a Saturday and I totally forgot that lunch special was only mon-fri. I mentioned that I forgot and without even assking her to,she went and asked the manager if she could allow us to order lunch special items @ lunch special prices and the manager said yes! Awesome! I've gotten this waitress twice I'm going to get her name next time and write a nice quicktip about her. Oh,and the buffalo chicken pizzas friggin ridiculously awesome. I LOVE YOU BJ'S. read more

The service was so bad that I was compelled to create a yelp account to write my first review ever! I am a long time returning customer at this location but the service was so bad that I refuse to give them future business. Drinks were late (20+ min), appetizers served without plates, and main entré was forgotten. All this on a 3 pm early dinner on a Wednesday. The server, asst mgr, and manager were unable to provide an adequate explanation for the terrible service. They offered to bring the missing entre long after everyone at the table was done eating. Management told me they were looking at the check to make adjustments to make up for the bad service. They brought 2 deserts on the house 20 minutes later. Most places would take 10-20% off the check for a returning customer. Not this place. Needless to say I left my first ever $0 tip and will no longer go to this location. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE. There are so many restaurants nearby with excellent service. Try one of those places instead. read more

I ordered a steak and asked for medium... it was well done, sent it back and got another well done to replace the well done Aargh! . I didn't want to wait any longer for something else and was hungry so I shared my BF's Salmon dinner. That was a tad overcooked also but not nearly as bad as the steak. The waitress was really nice and attentive and felt bad that I didn't get what I wanted. The manager came over and apologized as well and mentioned he took the cost off my bill. I should hope so! I didn't eat it. I can't say I won't be back because I like hanging at the bar but I will never order steak again. I'll just save that for a real steak house. I always get the California Chicken Sandwich with wedge cut fries. I used to work in the mall, so I would dine here often. I still eat here when I'm in the mood for table service in a chill environment. They have a huge selection to choose from like pasta, pizza galore, burgers, sandwiches, stuffed potatoes, soup, meatloaf, etc., Also, they have a nice bar and many delicious drinks to choose from. If I can put zero star or no star I would!! Ordered appetizer from online order and internet order only allows you to put certain time for pick up. But prior to that time we were there to pick up the appetizer I ordered and this girl Michelle from the takeout window said, they can't make the order yet since it's still showing pending even after I showed her the paid receipt I got through email. Then she said, if I put in order now u would have to pay again.. RIDICULOUS!! At this point I said just cancel it.. we ended up eating at Acapulco next door and 1 1/2 hr later the cancellation has not come thru. Came back to the restaurant again talked to the mgr and mgr said, we could've made it for u.. you all should educate your staff there.
