I was at a work meeting. Service was good. Food ....I just don't understand the aluminum prison trays they serve the food on. It makes it the food less unappetizing/unappealing. Presentation is everything for an eating out experience. I felt they were lowering the experience with the aluminum trays...maybe they got a deal at the local reform school? I handed the tray to the nice server and told her she could have her "prison tray back" She laughed as I caught her off "guard". All the employees park in the curbside spots to avoid taking out orders. I saw these two for sure employees. I saw them both. There was 0 people inside waiting, then a guy showed up and complained that he had to carry his order really far because all the spots were taken!! Fix it BJs. read more

Came here for a late dinner while we waited for the car to charge. Came in around midnight on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy per usual on a Friday night. We sat at the bar area. The place was a little dirty especially the floor. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food was okay. Calamari was delicious. Chicken bacon wrap was decent. Tried the new chicken Mediterranean something and when I got the food the chicken was still pink and was drowning in some sort of dressing/oil. We asked for a new chicken and asked for the dressing and oil on the side. Server was pretty understandable. I would still come back here especially for their famous pizookies! read more

I want to give a big shout out to the Downey BJs manager Claudia on August 4 and the front desk hostess during the 8:00 PM timeframe. When the old saying "when it rains, it pours" comes true in one's life. These lady show true compassion and humanity to complete strangers (my family and I) they genuinely cared, they embraced us into their arms, gave us a shoulder to cry on, and ended with some words of encouragement. I don't usually leave 1 star reviews, but I was blown away at the level of disrespect that was shown to us multiple times last night. We went to sit in the bar area and as a party of 7, found 2 high top tables next to eachother and scooted them together. Something I've done many times here and have never had an issue. Our server comes up to us and scolds us for doing that in a very irritated manner, but then says he will still serve us this time but not to do it again. From that point on we felt like red headed step children and you'll see why. We were also a chair short and another server grabber a chair from the bar and brought it to us which was nice. About 5 mins later the female bartenders (is assumed relatives because they looked identical) showed up so she comes up to our party and scolds us for taking a chair from the bar and tell us to give it back. I told her a server brought us this chair and she says "well they going to have to find another one cuz you can't take chairs from the bar" and took the chair from under my friend. Another guy overheard this and gave us a chair from his table but you don't do that to a customer. Ever. Wild. As the food came out the food runner (different guy) came and asked who ordered this plate, then when we said "you can just throw it down anywhere", his response was "can I throw it on the floor?" I kid you not he said that to us with a straight face and was not being playful. He put the food down and left. We all stared at eachother blown away at what had just happened. The food was pretty good per usual at BJs. We had to ask for a raspberry iced tea 4 times which was annoying but maybe the server was busy. We got visited 2 times throughout our ~1 hour stay. The second time he came and asked if we wanted anymore drinks, when I asked for one he seemed annoyed and pulled his little order taking device back out like he was really trying to push us out of there. All in all it's some of the worst service I've ever had anywhere. We felt completely unwelcomed. This place used to be amazing I'm not sure if the culture has shifted but ownership needs to reel these people back in and remind them of what their job title and responsibilities are. Probably won't be going back to the BJs ever again. read more

The food was ok, I feel the quality has gone down extremely from when I remember going to the BJs in Culver City and Torrance years ago. We had lunch specials and some appetizers. The broccoli cheese soup looked and tasted out of a can. The order of chicken nachos was a lot bigger than we expected (good thing), they were ok, the chicken pieces were very scarce. For dessert we had a strawberry shortcake pozookie, it sounded good, it looked good, but it was extremely sweet, not a good flavored sweet but the cookie tasted like legit spoonfuls of sugar. Check was just about $100 for two people, that's usually what we pay for some good gourmet food. The food is not what I remembered or enjoyed before. Not intrigued to come back. read more

Its a good spot to eat. Avocado egg rolls are 5/5. Bacon avocado deluxe burger is always a hit. When you order steak it usually comes dry, so if you like it well get medium well instead. Service is always hit or miss. Today it was a miss. Took forever to get waited on and the waiter looked annoyed or sad or something. What made it worse was my first time order of enlightened lemon thyme chicken. It was not good. When i saw the plate it was very unappetizing. I will come back to bjs but not for this plate. We enjoy going to BJ's but our curbside orders have been very disappointing. Starting with the family package are nitro true to the numbers it is supposed to serve. I recently came here with my friends and had the pleasure of experiencing outstanding costumer service from our server King. Upon arrival I was greeted by the hostess and sat down immediately, from this interaction to the last the service from the staff was exceptional. King was extremely attentive & knowledgeable about the menu. I often come here with my friends to eat pizookies, which are always delicious by the way, and we've gotten king as our server a couple times. It's clear he prioritizes costumer satisfaction and takes pride in what he does. Although I did come when it was very packed I was still seated quickly, my pizookie came in a timely matter. Well where do I begin? This place is all around inexcusable and unacceptable. I'm a very proud member of the BJs alumni crew, BJs got me through college and I worked in the HB corporate location for 5 years. Today was an abomination of what the owners created so long ago. Julie H. was our server, when we ordered our drinks it took about 10 minutes to get them. Should've known then what type of service we would receive. We ordered two appetizers to start and my daughter's kids meal so that it all could come out first (kids eat slow). I asked her to please put that in first. Pro servers all know you have to time things. She gave me some attitude about "yea, I did that". I thought ok, I'm gonna hold you to that. All of a sudden here comes my salad and the other adult meals. ‍ Then they bring the wrong appetizers. ‍ I asked where my daughter's food was - oh, it's coming I'll check on it. The spinach dip is cold. Disgusting. We sent it back and asked for a new one. I'm pretty sure they microwaved it and brought it right back out. Still waiting on my daughter's meal. When I asked Julie what happened she said, "they are working to get it right". ‍ Get what right?! All the food was on the table ‍. Take a bite of my salad, missing avocado. My $18 salad is missing the most expensive ingredient. Go figure. My friend's chicken sandwich tasted like rubber. My daughter's food comes out SCALDING hot so I know it was made on the fly (just say you forgot to put it in ). I called over a manager since Julie was unapologetic in her errors and she was MIA for at least 20 minutes. Travis offered to take the spinach dip off the bill because I told him it was awful. Keep this in mind as we keep going. He refilled our drinks because again, Julie was MIA. I don't know why I even bothered but we ordered a pizookie. I asked for the half and half, Julie informs me they don't do that anymore & that she will bring two minis and tells me it's the same price. I thought to myself, hmmm I wonder if the trio is the way to go here since it's $8.95 but she would tell me what the better deal was, right? Right???!!! To my dismay when the bill came the two minis was $9.90. The cookies were raw, I could taste the grit of sugar, disgusting. I wanted to tell Travis but apparently it was his turn to be MIA ‍. The spinach dip was on the bill twice. Why did she ring it in twice??? I've never been so embarrassed to be BJs alum in my life. This would never happen at HB2!!!! Stopped in for dinner got seated at the bar area quickly. Waiter service was good. I had a Happy Hour Margarita it was decent and my Husband had IPA. My husband ordered the wings and I ordered the Chinese salad which I've had before. The wings were served cold and my salad was wilted :( so we had the waiter take it back also we ordered onion straws they were soggy. The manager came to speak with us said he get order correct right out. The wings came out first hot and good as they should be. My salad the manager brings out and yes the plate is cold however the salad seems to be the same wilted one not fresh at all FAIL!!! I had them deducted the salad and their second attempt on onion straws soggy. Pretty sad to mess up a basic salad twice it had no meat. Decided to come in here for lunch today... WELL I HAVE TO SAY- we ended up sitting the bar area (booth) and we were pleasantly greeted by OUR SERVER-KING! Omgosh! This gentleman is fabulous. He is so welcoming and personable, that he made our lunch, just over the top great! THANK YOU, KING! You deserve a raise, cause BJs is lucky to have someone that truly loves their job.
