I usually order barbecue from here like the family feast which is really good. But this time I ordered the devils spit burger and I was a bit unsatisfied only because I felt like I had a burger from Carl's Jr but for $17. The drinks from the bar were wack. The food there is great but not the burgers. My wife had the chili and side salad which I don't really think she enjoyed the "award winning chili" but the salad was good it's kinda hard to mess up a salad. This location is shared with carinos Italian. If you go here, stick to the barbecue. Handicap parking is in front and parking is readily available for you to park.

We came for dinner. I was seated almost in the kitchen. Not my idea. There were lots of tables available, and I got stuck here. I ordered ribs, corn on the cob, pineapple, and a muffin. Everything tasted pretty good. The waiter came by and refilled my friend's drink. I had to chase him down to refill mine. The food was very expensive. Cost $83 for one meal for two people.

I love famous Dave's , just not this one. Maybe it was just a bad day? Maybe people called out . Let's start with the good , the sides were great . Mash potato's , wings were excellent. Now to the bad. Service was spottier than a cellphone reception in the mountains . Got refills when I sat down , and when I got my food . My steak was burnt ! I tasted more charcoal than anything on my steak . It was too salty . Look like the steak was rushed and put on high flames. Steak was too dry . I didn't want to send it back because 1. I couldn't find a server anywhere 2. It would take even longer to get service or a redone order . Overall , very disappointed .

Should be called Dave's famous boiled ribs w/ bbq sauce on the side.

Ordered here a few times and they keep forgetting cornbread or sides. Got ribs here for father's day and they boiled the ribs today. No rub, no smoke flavor and my container is drenched with boiled rib water.... Do not recommend

I was craving some good old Texas-style BBQ and drove by this place, so I turned around to give it a try. I do not know how this restaurant became "Famous" because holy--what is this?! What in God's name are these meat portions? I spent $20 for a Lunch Combo (Two Choice Meats, One Side, and Cornbread) and this is how much meat I get? I got maybe five to six thin slices of beef brisket and three child-sized catfish fingers (California Fish Grill gives three LARGE pieces for their Fish 'n Chips for a lower price!), but they seemed more than generous with the cheap filler potato wedges. The barbecue sauces they had were pitifully basic--thin, watery, with no texture. Honestly, I didn't even need much of it anyway because I barely had any meat to eat (let alone enjoy) it with. There was even a thick slice of Texas toast that I didn't bother finishing after the first bite; I guess it's just more filler to justify that steep price. The cornbread is... just cornbread, it's whatever. And yeah, toss in that single lemon wedge--I don't even know why I'd need it. Overall, the food felt like reheated slop, except for the properly fried potatoes. On top of that, a small gripe with your fountain drinks: why is it $5 for a regular soda? It's not any different from Chili's or KAOWOK's (the nearby restaurants). You're not charging for a better soda syrup dispenser, and the cup was nearly filled to the brim with ice! The staff is also questionable. One employee treated me as if to say, "Duh, everyone should know how to order around here." Well, sorry for not coming to day one of this establishment's opening. I genuinely did not know if I was supposed to order at the counter then sit down like California Fish Grill or Dick's Barbecue Pit, or sit down and wait for a menu. Also, why is this place so dark? I assume this is a shared space because there is a connected hallway to the neighboring restaurant, and looking over at them, their side is perfectly well-lit. Are you trying to make me feel miserable while eating there? It gives off the vibe that management is actively trying to cut costs, which, based on my meal, they DEFINITELY are. I understand it's supposed to be an old-school design, but there is major room for improvement that shouldn't break the bank (i.e., more and better lighting). I came home feeling completely unsatisfied and still hungry. I'm literally heading out to Dick's Barbecue Pit for dinner just to wash away this terrible experience. I'm never coming back, and neither should any newcomer.

Have you ever walked into a place and felt like you've been there before because you have ! This restaurant has been split and half. I love that the food was delicious. I can eat this cornbread every day. I had a nice time with my dad. Five stars.

Update from my previous Yelp of Famous Daves. Great location. Odd to see it against another restaurant that looks as though the owners have up on it in comparison to Famous Daves.

Great service, great food. Kids got the chicken tenders , hubby got the tacos (one of each) ; MIL got a Cesar salad , and I got the fried chicken and ribs. Everything was delicious. Corn bread was 10/10 Customer service by Jose was great. Recommend grey drinks , and he was helpful Would recommend to come here.

My family and I got seated immediately which was awesome. We like ordering appetizers & our entrees at the same time that way our food comes out quick. So I tried ordering some appetizers and the waitress said they ran out every single time. Carrying on, I ordered a brisket sandwich but they gave me something different. I don't like to make things difficult so I just ate it. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger and said it was good. By the time we got home my family and I got sick, and caught a stomach flu. This was the only place we ate that day, I'm not sure if it was the bbq sauce or the cornbread we all ate.

It was my first time trying Famous Dave's, and it was pretty good. The sides it came with were decent. The coleslaw and beans were on the sweeter side and the potato wedges were nice and fresh. I was hoping there was an option to change the sides, but the waitress told me you can't change anything and it comes as is. The fried chicken was nice and crispy and it had a nice flavor. Overall, the experience was nice.

I've been waiting for a restaurant for famous Dave's to open in Downey. We've been going to Johnie Carina's to pick and and take home. So I got a flyer for a free brisket sandwich that came with fries. A $21.00 value with no purchase necessary. So I grabbed one of my grandsons and went to eat inside. First the place is really cute inside also very clean. We were greeted by everyone. Our waitress was fantastic she was friendly and I felt so welcomed. Almost like I knew her. Now for the food We got the free brisket sandwich delicious Also rib tips ( best I've had in along time) yummm on the fried pickles. The tacos were packed brisket and pork. The fried chicken was okay not bad but I went for BBQ. The coleslaw not bad. I will definitely go back next time I wanna try the brisket egg rolls.

I was really looking forward to a great BBQ meal, but unfortunately the food fell short overall. The dessert was the highlight of the visit -- it was delicious and definitely the best part of the experience. The corn wasn't sweet, and by the time butter arrived, both the bread and corn were too cold to enjoy. The ribs were also disappointing, though I did enjoy the brisket, which had good flavor and texture. For me, price isn't the issue -- I'm happy to pay as long as the quality is there. I hope this restaurant takes the opportunity to improve both the food and service because there's definitely potential. The atmosphere was OK

Pitmasters' Society BBQ Grill…read more This is a review for my dining experience at Pitmasters' Society BBQ Grill. https://www.bbqgrillpitmasters.com/ My friends and I enjoyed eating at Pitmasters' Society BBQ Grill. Words to describe the cuisine would be sophisticated and elevated BBQ with Romanian fusion. Very flavorful and filling! LOCATION: It is located in the food court at Stonewood Mall. HOURS: They serve lunch and dinner. 10:00am-8pm SERVICE: We were greeted with a warm smile by Lori. I have never tasted Romanian food before, so I was excited to learn about their menu. She recommended several items for us to choose from. MENU We ordered the 3 MEAT COMBO PLATTER: You can select different meats. We chose: pork belly, sausage, and ribs, with corn and french fries. Wow! Every bite was delicious! I loved the seasonings! Salty goodness from the pork belly, the Romanian sleeveless sausage, "Mici" made from beef and pork was perfectly seasoned and paired well with mustard, and the ribs were tender and fell right off the bones. None of the meats were tough and were very scrumptious! :) ------ BRISKET SANDWICH -Delicious! The brisket was very tasty and was definitely the star of the sandwich! The bread, cheese, and the veggies that accompanied the brisket was the perfect ratio. I could taste each element in every bite! Other dishes we ate: PASTRAMI SANDWICH: Fun fact, Pastrami originated from Romania! Pastrami comes from the word pastramă which means to preserve. So of course their pastrami was top notch! BURNT ENDS TRITIP SIDES: For the sides they were all yummy. Sides they serve include frenchfries, vegetables, macaroni, mashed potatoes, and corn. My personal favorite was the mashed potatoes! They were whipped to perfection and creamy. I enjoyed the meal with my friends! I liked the presentations of each dish. The generous portions, fresh ingredients, and the garnishes on top of the foods made it look very special. We had to give accolades to the cook, Manny who made each dish. ***All in all I had a great experience dining at Pitmasters' Society BBQ Grill! If you are a meat and potatoes person, THIS IS THE PLACE! Their specialty is their grilled and smoked meats. It is great bbq packed with unique flavors inspired by Romania. Everything is fresh and appetizing! Poftă bună! :)

I wanted to try a little of everything so I ordered the 3 meat combo (chose ribs, chicken & brisket) & a burnt end pork belly / sausage mix. I really enjoyed the baked beans, burnt bit pork belly, & brisket - they all had good flavor. The chicken was good and not dry. The bbq ribs was decent but not super juicy / tender. The sides were a miss for me (besides the baked beans), the fries were a bit soggy (I mean could be because I got takeout), and the flavor of the slaw and the potato salad (?) could be better imo. But overall the bbq was tasty and is a fantastic value & i would order again to try more of their selections!

I'd never been there before, so this review is all about first impressions. As we approached, the sign caught my attention: "Under New Ownership." Outside, an employee sat scrolling on his phone. It was a quiet Sunday around 3 PM, and we were the only patrons in sight. Checking Yelp beforehand had been a bit of a letdown, as their menu featured items they no longer offer. No links were available either. We ordered half a pound of pulled pork, half a pound of brisket, and four pieces of cornbread--all priced reasonably. Their tap selection turned out to be decent. The Cali Squeeze Blood Orange was a standout, and they also seemed to carry Firestone Walker products, including 805. The staff were friendly and responsive, which was refreshing. While the brisket had cooled by the time we got home, it was still tender and flavorful--just like the pulled pork. The real surprise? The chimichurri that accompanied the brisket--an unexpected and delightful touch. Overall, I'd rate the experience as average. While it's clear they've got potential, a bit more effort could turn Wholly Smokes into a go-to spot. Leaning in on those small details would really elevate the experience.

My review is based on the food truck. It was my son's birthday. He was allowed to chose anything he wanted for dinner. Any price point... anything. Well i had seen this on Instagram and shared it with him two weeks prior. At first he wanted to go to Nobu or there were a few other high end options, but that is not his style honestly. Luckily, he remembered the post that I shared. He wanted to go here. Well, buckle up kids, we are going on a field trip! We left work/schools early and took a drive to Compton. When our navigation said we had arrived it suggested we park in the lot across from the library. Ok. There directly in front of the library was the food truck. There was a small line, so that was ideal. Not a long wait. My other smaller human and i went to wash their hands in the library. When i came out he had ordered the hungry man or something. It was more than enough for us. The oxtail was good. The ribs were good. The chicken was good. The cornbread was yummy. Just not over the moon for the greens... and i loooove collard greens. But that's ok. We went for the meats. They were out of the dinosaur ribs, so maybe if we go early enough next time, we can try those. We took it across the street to the park and ate and that was enough time for the small one to also play to get energy out before we headed home. The drive home was long, now that rush hour traffic had started. But none of us complained, because the meal was worth it.

I feel like a yelper that's been living under rocks. Can't believe I never heard of this place…read moreuntil I recently saw my fellow yelper Van D's review. This is western BBQ with an Asian flair. I think the flavor is better and slightly less heavy than a traditional American BBQ. Everything was so packed with flavor, can't really pick a favorite among so many great proteins. Smoked Brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a nice smokey taste. Green Curry Sausage was definitely unique with a really nice Thai infused flavors. Was slightly spicy with strong green curry and lemongrass flavors. Canton Bowl, which comes with smoked pork belly char siu, siu yuk (pork belly with super crispy skin), and coconut rice, was excellent as well. The siu yuk was really good with super crispy/crunchy skin. House-made BBQ sauces were quite good. I really like the gochujang bbq sauce. It has decent amount of heat with a sweet & spicy taste. The regular house BBQ sauce has a tangy, sweet taste with a very subtle heat. It's located at Cottage Industries. Not exactly sure what to call it. It's somewhat like a small community of restaurants and shops with a garden and a play area for kids. Parking is very limited so will most likely need to park on the streets along residential area. Service is minimal. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know when the food is ready. Seating is only available outside in the covered patio area but you can also pick any of the community tables and chairs within Cottage Industries.

How did I NOT know about Smoke Queen BBQ when they have 1K+ reviews?! I'm around this area almost…read moreevery week and somehow this place has never popped up on my Yelp radar. Unheard of! Anyway, hubby heard about a promo through AM 570 where if you dine in and whisper "570," you get their promo sando with a side AND a drink for $5.70, normally around $18! At that price, it's practically free, so obviously we had to investigate. We made sure to get there right before opening and waited about 10 minutes. Luckily, there were only two other parties ahead of us. While standing there, I couldn't help but notice that this entire food center is literally smack dab in the middle of residential homes. I feel for the poor neighbors next door and across the street who probably have to deal with all the traffic and noise pollution. Thank goodness I don't live here. WELL...back to me and my food. As soon as the doors opened, they immediately started taking orders. Smoke Queen is basically fast casual with no indoor seating, but they have a cute backyard patio that probably seats around 30 people. If that's full, you can wander into the surrounding outdoor food hall--which I later discovered is Cottage Industries--where there are plenty of little seating areas scattered around. The only thing that is NOT plentiful? Parking. More on that another time. For the promo, I got the brisket sando with dirty rice, and hubby got the pulled pork sando with cornbread, both with fountain drinks. After ordering, we waited about 10 minutes before our little ringer buzzed and our food was ready. First thing I appreciated: the sandos don't come drowning in BBQ sauce. THANK YOU. You can add as much or as little as you want, which is perfect for people like us who aren't huge fans of super sweet BBQ sauces. My brisket was tender and well made, although for some reason I couldn't really taste much smoke. I swear I have this problem at BBQ places--am I the problem?! Either way, the meat itself was good, and their BBQ sauce had a nice balance of tartness and flavor that really helped bring the sandwich together without overpowering it. The dirty rice was also good, although I expected a little more umph. It seemed like a genius way to make use of all those precious little brisket and pulled pork bits left behind from cutting the meats--instead of letting those scraps go to waste, throw them into some rice! I fully support using every last morsel of BBQ goodness. BUT...if that's the idea, give me more of those meat pieces! Mine could've definitely used a little more. Hubby's pulled pork was good as well, but again...where's the smoke?! Maybe it's just our taste buds. Overall, the meats were tender, the food was good, the people were nice, and for $5.70, this promo was an absolute STEAL. At the normal price point, though, while I thought everything was well made, nothing quite grabbed me enough that I'd be rushing back anytime soon. Still, I'm glad we finally discovered Smoke Queen after apparently being the last people on Yelp to know it existed.
