Been here waiting for an hour for my wife's medium strak,they bring it out rare on the inside and well done outside they take it and bring the same steak that we cut in half to see if it was done right charcoaled.I'm dissatisfied to the max.The manager came out to our table made everything right and although the night wasn't what we expected here he did make things better so I'd like to congratulate him on that.my 1 star will now go up to 3 star and I do recommend ppl to come here just stay away from steaks lol. read more

I had a Cobb salad which is pretty difficult to mess up but it left me wanting more. The chicken tasted old. The bacon and egg was non-existent and the avocado dressing tasted like pesto. I've been to a BJ's before its good As always visit . they never let me down ! So this time my family and I decided to check out the new BJ's in town ! I was kinda not looking forward to the wait bc it seem super busy ! We went during lunch time 12:30 ! I asked how long the wait was 15 mins but turned into more like 3 mins awesome !!! They have a really good set up good kids menu which is good for my picky eaters ! My hubby and I had 2 beers the Pale Ale n Blonde yummy !!! For lunch was the Calif Sandwhich so good melted grilled chicken ., chipotle mayo , green peppers so good ! Hubby had the Chili cheese burger omg that thing was so good and heaping w/ cheese lots of it he had to take the rest home ! Our service was awesome ! Wife wanted to go there last night because she saw on their facebook page that they were offering happy hour prices in the bar and restaurant all day on election night. I figured there wouldn't be anything on TV other than election coverage, so we went to Salinas to meet some friends there for dinner. I don't know what their happy hour consists of, but they didn't honor any kind of happy hour pricing at this location even though there was nothing stated about any non-participating locations in the ad. The server just said that she hadn't heard anything about it, and when my wife showed her the offer on her phone, she said she'd ask the manager. I don't think that ever happened. We never heard anything more on the subject. Not a big deal, but it seems like a pretty shady way to get people in the door. The other thing that annoyed me was that it was so dark that we could barely read the menu. Either use bigger, bolder print, or turn the damn lights up. I haven't had that problem there before even though it never seems very brightly lit, but it was all of us. Not just me. Those pendant lights in the booths only seem to light up a six inch diameter circle in the middle of the table. Food and drinks were fine, but my wife ordered a pizza and they left off the tomatoes. It wasn't any kind of special order or anything, just a regular menu item. You'd expect that they could at least get their own menu items correct with no special requests. There was little if any sauce on the pizza, so it really could have used those tomatoes. Service was good, but a little slow considering that there were more employees than customers. Much better than last time I was there (never wrote an update review about that dinner) when everything was painfully slow and it took over 45 minutes to get our pizookies. read more

Food comes no green beans, water goes back in to get them, um were out of green beans. Did I mention we talked to the manager and he offered 3 different excuses, because he was incompetent and couldn't remember what he had told us, could care less about us as customers just lame excuses. My rib eye was sad , tiny steak burnt on the outside, rare to raw on the inside, and potato was over baked and came with very little butter and sour cream, maybe they were running out of those too .. I don't know. .maybe bjs is going under , I don't know , but this one is terrible. Good food. Slow delivery; inattentive waitress. When we arrived the restaurant was slow, but it took about 20 minutes to pull two tables together. We had to ask multiple times for refills. Food for one was brought out about 15 minutes before anyone else was served. I had to ask another waitress to find our waitress because after serving, items were forgotten and our waitress didn't bother coming back to check with us. We ordered dinner through DOOR DASH, and noticed we were missing several items. I called BJ's and connected with the Manager, Adrian. He immediately wanted to make the situation better. Adrian corrected the order and sent a Door Dash driver out to the house, to make it right! Adrian, the Manager at BJs listened intently, asked us our preference in making it resolving the problem. This place has always been a hit and miss with food, but a good spot to kick back, yesterday (9-2-20) they took the prize for worst customer service with out door dinning in Salinas. Forced to wait over an hour, we understood it would take time to get a table, took exactly 77min to get a txt notification another 10 to explain the situation and with our table forced to split our party into two different tables, we had a starving 3 yr old that was excited to finally get some food oh but wait his stroller is not allowed! Seriously it's not in the way or anything but according to them it was against regulations they wanted to throw him to the other table and suggested to move again! Two families where split into a table of 4 and a table of 2 now they want us to mix around if we wanted to stay. They did not apologize about the inconvenience, they didn't place no effort in making the situation better, they couldn't move two tables together and out of frustration and not wanting to make it a bigger deal we had to walk away. We arrived in Salinas late and not knowing the area, we asked the Front Desk for recommendations. If you stay at the Residence Inn, you get a 10% discount so we decided to eat at BJ's. It's a sports bar with many huge screens along with a dining area. Prior to my visit at the Salinas' BJ's, I had never heard of this place, but apparently they're all over the south-west US. The service here was okay - our server became really slow once we told him that we weren't ordering alcohol. On to the topic of alcohol, this place does have an extensive beer menu with local brews. My dad and I ordered the thin crust pizza - it was paper thin (which I like), but you could tell that it was just heated it up from a package (very unevenly baked). After moving to California two years ago.. this place has the worst service I have experienced in California. The only ones that are good are the bartenders. Last time I went with a friend and sat for over 20 minutes before a server even came to our table. I think nearly every server in the building walked by, looked at us and didn't bother talking to us or asking us if we wanted to get drinks. The only reason people go here from what I am assuming is the good food and bartending staff. Jeremy rocks it at the bar and hands down is 100% better than any other wait staff in this place. Chili was awesome. Topped with sour cream, onions, grated cheese, and I'm not sure what else. Half sandwich of turkey ham and bacon was bigger than most half sandwich and soup combos you find at other places. Toasted and warm. Flavor was okay. Nothing over the top. Had a BJ hefferweizen that was pretty great. Lately I've been into the ales so this was a refreshing change. Service was pretty quick and fairly attentive although drinks ran out here and there. Have been to the restaurant and even though the service was always extremely slow, the food was always good. Tonight we tried delivery through Grubhub because we were all not up to going out. The delivery was great and the food was here so much faster than when in the restaurant(?) two of my kids got burgers and fries which were fine except for the blob in her fries that looked like a chicken nugget but hard. I got the Cobb salad and the beets. The beets were $4.95 and about 2 tablespoons of them were in there. The salad had pieces of dark, dried up, old looking shreds of chicken on it. Go here if you don't mind sitting in the hot sun. I went in today and the hostess said it was an hour wait for a table that would fit my family so I told her I didnt mind being separated. She divided us in 2 separate tables under the hot sun, when there was 2 tables that would accommodate us in the shade. Instead she sat 2 people in a 4 seat table in the shade where she could have sat us. Mind you, those 2 arrived after us so we had first seating option. I requested they move us, but manager got involved and try to hide the mistake her host did with seating and told us we had to go back out to waiting area and wait for a bigger and only table that seats 5. I don't understand how this place can not afford a canopy to seat their guest outside. I understand all the Covid policies and regulations but more than half if their tables are directly under the sun, this is simply ridiculous! read more

My experience here was the worst. The wait was about 40 minutes. Once we finally got seated it took another 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We placed the appetizer and dinner at the same time. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive at our table. We then had to wait another 10 minutes for someone to bring us utensils. We only saw our server three times the entire evening. I did notice he was spending a lot of time on an adjacent table with a couple young females. I counted he stopped at their table at least 10 times. I get it. Never again will I come back here. It saddens me because I use to like this place. read more

Went back in because I had a coupon, we had a babysitter, and it was Concours (so the entire peninsula was out). A couple of things saved it here: Server: Ricardo was awesome. Always on top of things, good recommendations, patient, took care of an issue with the check at the end. Food: I was actually really impressed. We both got steaks - me the sirloin, her the prime rib. Steak was good. Prime rib was good. I liked the sides a lot. Sweet potato fries weren't the typical frozen version but were a lot tastier. Asparagus was cooked and seasoned well. We had originally come in to sit at the bar, but moved because the service was awful. I think that just may be how it is there, so I now know to not sit at the bar. We also tried to get a regular table, but were told there was a wait. There were at least seven tables open, so they obviously were not staffing enough people. I didn't see any one-off brews like BJ's used to do, which is unfortunate, because you actually got to taste what that location's brewer could do with those. Instead, it was all macro craft, like Elysian and Green Flash. To be fair though, the standard beers I had were good. I'm sure I'll be back at some point. read more

I have heard many people talk about their bad experiences here and about the really bad service. Me, being a server myself, care a lot about the service I get in a restaurant so I was very hesitant to try it out. My boyfriend had told me about his experiences in other BJs restaurants and finally convinced me to try it out. I have been here three times since and I must say I have not had any bad experiences. The servers I have had were all really nice and attentive. My food came out at a decent amount of time. Like I said, I work in the restaurant business so I understand the food may take longer depending on how busy a restaurant is. My boyfriend and I get the artichoke spinach dip every time we go because its so delicious! Last time I went I tried their Balsamic Chicken plate and I honestly loved it! The mashed potatoes it came with were some of the best I've ever had. I wish I could've finished it all but I was so full. Overall I think everyone should at least give this place a try. read more
