Out of the Last two remaining wholesale club stores in rochester..BJ's would be the second best...But there are definitely some great reasons to have a BJ's membership. First they accept coupons. Both BJ's and Manufacturer coupons, and you can use 1 manufacturer coupon and one BJ's coupon on 1 single item. So if you are really into savings..BJ's is the club where you are going to save the most. Especially when you have a coupon and a product also happens to be on sale(which I find happens often) Those savings really start to pile up. Keep in mind that these clubs sell almost all the same products you buy at any wholesale club(minus the house brand name products) Second They have a Deli where you can get cold-cuts for probably the best consistent price around..I'm talking domestic prosciutto where every deli in rochester sells it for 20 dollars a pound..BJ's sells it for 7.99lb. In My opinion that alone is enough for me to keep a membership. (I love prosciutto) And most of the other cold-cuts they sell do not go over 8 dollars a pound. Third they do not ask for your Membership ID when you enter the store which is a minor thing but it's nice. They also have 4 locations in rochester. Which makes it super convenient to live fairly close to one. Now for the bad part. First their bakery items have gone down hill since the 90s and early to mid 2000's when I used to go here. I guess for me it's not a big deal now as I don't really eat sweets anymore..But if you expect the bakery items to be as good as Costco or Sams Club..You might be disappointed. Sometime in 2010 or so they stopped baking their bakery goods in store..and had them shipped in and I really noticed the difference for the worse. Quality just isn't there anymore. They No longer have a food court(at east at this location) which could be a deal breaker for some..But in my opinion their food court was never very good. I don't come here often for groceries but often for gas. Today I ventured into the store for a few things. They changed the policy to now requiring a membership to get in.. its something they should have done since day one. It delayed progress even entering the store because people didn't have their cards out. I wish they would have a sign posted stating the change.. after all they have mask signs everywhere. For being around 1pm the store was quite busy. There never seems to be down time to avoid crowds since covid. literally they have rearranged most of the set up before it was because of low stock and items due to people hoarding items.. now it's just all rearranged. It was quite a pain to get everything I was looking for. The store was incredibly clean. Check out was a breeze and quick. The exit was a bit of a pain since they only had one person checking all receipts. So there is always that one customer that had to be a pain and complain. Since only one exit and one entrance we were stuck there for awhile. read more

I don't frequent the store too often because they sell in bulk and I don't need that much of anything. I definitely don't buy a lot of their food but I do buy essential like toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, detergent and condiments. I buy things that won't go bad. I'm not sure if the prices are great or not because I haven't done the comparison. I have compared the stuffed chicken I buy from Wegmans and it's pretty much the same price. One of the nice things is that if you buy something and then find a coupon for it, you can take it to the service desk and they will give you the refund. I did it seconds after I checked out the last time because I found the coupon in my pocket that I forgot to use. I fill up my gas tank here frequently because it's cheap and they have specials every so often that if you buy certain things in the store, you get so much percent off a gallon. I really take advantage of this when it includes the paper products or stuff I'm going to buy anyway. I know there is a yearly fee to shop here but I can't remember it off the top of my head, but most people feel it is worth it. read more

This rating is for the Tire Center, specifically. I'm from the South, so I'm not used to having to add air to my tires to make up for the pressure drops in cold weather. I was a bit at a loss for what to, but when I stopped by, they checked my pressure and filled to the correct PSI for free. The service guy was really friendly and helpful. I was frustrated with the BJs in greece due to pallets of the product I was looking for being too high up on the steel construction and not a single person who was licensed to use the fork lift was here to bring down the product I was trying to obtain. The rating may seem kinda high but let me explain. It's a bulk store! So I expect to go in and find things in bulk, nothing fancy. The only real issue I have is that they don't have a good variety of spices, and I can never get bulk onion powder! It seems like a small thing but for someone who makes his own seasonings and rubs for bbq; if I could get all my bulk spices and powders in one spot it would be perfect. Also, recently I bought nectarines. They looked amazing but were brown and overripe i think on the inside. I turned them into jam so I made it work but I was disappointed. Other then that I love bj's and will continue to shop there. I will just be careful with produce more now. read more

I wanted to take advantage of the "free" turkey promotion whereby you spend $150 by November 9th and then were given a coupon for a free turkey on the app on November 11thish. I spent over $225 on November 4th, scanning the items on a self-checkout. I split the order to use two separate credit cards. The first order came out over $156 with tax and the second (done five minutes later) was about $69 with tax. When I never received my coupon for a free turkey, I called the store. They said to come in with my receipts and they would honor it. When I went to the store, they said they could not honor the free turkey because I needed to spend $150 BEFORE TAX on ONE TRANSACTION!!! For less than $4 on one receipt I lost out and they would not honor the other receipt. To top it off I spoke with three associates -customer service desk person, lead customer service work, and manager, Leigha (sp?). All were extremely rude and despite me being a customer for over 25 years, they refused to help and were nasty!!! Shame on all of you BJS. Ah BJ's sure they layout is the same at the one in Henrietta but this location is way easier to get in and out of. This is a low stress location and staff at the deli counter are helpful and pleasant. If you join BJ's what I would suggest is if they have a deal to join do it if you are not sure to wanna go all in. They have some good stuff.. but you all know my love for Costco is great. The store is clean and neat -- they were also passing out samples for the customers. You enjoy purchasing in BULK, then you would need to visit when you're in the Rochester area. We ordered 3cases of ensure online. Went to customer service desk and nobody was in line! I gave them the order number and the lady called it back on a walkie-talkie. About 3 min later Sierra brought a cart for another online pick up that wasn't even in the store. She went back to the area where the online orders are kept but stopped and talked to the cashiers at self checkout for over 15 minutes! I went back and told the customer service lady we still didn't have our order. She called again on the walkie-talkie and a guy came and asked our order number. I asked him what Sierra's name was and he said he didn't know. We went thru self checkout and I was able to get her name. Batavia -BJs online is a lot more efficient. read more

If you are not shopping for a large family, there are better options. With Wegmans and Target carrying larger family pac sizes, their prices are often better than what BJ's offers. Also you've got to watch for club-size packaging not equivalent to what is offered elsewhere. For example, BJ's made a big todo about bringing back Charmin MegaRolls, but they are significantly smaller than the MegaRolls Plus now offered and frequently on sale at Target. Let the buyer beware! On the good side, some of their Berkley and Jensen products are good quality and price. And the bakery has real bargains and at holidays you can get Butterball and good hams at reasonable prices. I'm not sure how this store survives since it is usually far from busy with customers. read more

Good Morning I have shopped at BJ's for several years. I would like it and am sure I am not alone about this. BJ's needs to get some small carts. These are way to heavy to push for older people and not everyone buys large amounts at one time. It certainly make shopping much more pleasant. I go and get what I need but do not shop around because the baskets are to heavy. Walmart has the smaller carts now and people appreciate it. I hope BJ's will consider this soon. If you have to choose a BJ's, this one is better than the one in Henrietta. Like many businesses in Henrietta, that particular BJ's wholesale is overrun with bustling customers. This location is calmer and away from the main traffic near Ridge Rd. in Greece. Gas lines also move faster here. The store is set up pretty similar to all of the other BJ's around and there aren't many differences as far as the physical store. During the summer months, we noticed that they seem to have a variety of beautiful hanging and potted plants marked at great prices compared to the Garden Factory. read more

I like BJs better than Sams for a few reasons. Some of their prices are lower, such as coffee, dog food, meats, etc. I don't buy a ton of things in bulk, but you really do save a lot of money, especially here. BJs sends out two booklets of Store coupons a month. They also accept Manufacturer's coupons on top of those. We have bought brand name laundry detergents, razors, body washes, shampoos, and even eggs with the double discount. If you are willing to front a little bit of money to buy things in bulk, it will help you stock up on your necessities for the entire year. The gas is also a lot cheaper too. read more

I often fear going to the Henrietta location because it is either packed or I can't find half of my regular items. Although this BJ's is a little of the beaten path and there is no other stores around, it is worth making it your staple store. Pros: -The ceilings are high and the aisles are wide, so you never have to worry about feeling cramped. -They have a lot of brand name items that you can find a good deal on. -Their food selection is bigger and more diverse than you would expect, and they have an in-house bakery and deli like you would find at Wegmans. -They have (usually) the cheapest gas prices around. -They send coupon books once a month with store coupons, and they take manufacturer's coupons. Great opportunity to double up on deals. Cons: -Because everything is in bulk, you have to pay a high price up front, but you're stocked up for awhile. -Everything is better with a membership. Meaning, they don't stop you from purchasing something if you don't have a membership (unlike Sam's Club), but items are cheaper if you are a member, and you have to be a member to get gas. -To get the store coupons, you need to be a member. -Bring your own bags. Like Aldi, BJ's doesn't have grocery bags, so you'll need to bring your own with you. read more

Visited 5/18. No signs saying masks required. Multiple shoppers with no masks. The staff had obviously not been instructed on wearing them properly as they were not covering their noses. I saw two staff take their masks off as they were heading to the break room. I asked my cashier "are they not requiring masks?" And he said no. The gas prices are some of the best/lowest in the area but there are times you do have to wait in line a while. I love getting the coupon books every month and the savings are pretty good. Lately, however, I've been noticing that a lot of the products advertised in the flyers/coupon books aren't there or the stock is poor. I've also been noticing the lack of range for the feminine product area as well. I need Super Plus tampons and this BJs never carries anything over Super. read more

We had a tire blow on our way home last week and managed to pull into the BJ's parking lot (I am a member). Had a spare in the trunk, but no jack. Walked the length of the parking lot to the tire center in the hopes they might let us borrow one. Chris eagerly offered to bring the jack out to the car and proceeded to help us by changing out our tire (in 90 degree heat I might add)! He went way above and beyond and the service was appreciated. Ok enough is enough with self check out. This place seems to get worse with staffing. Lines were long at both self and the two lines with actual people. To make matters worse one person was dealing with all the confused self checkers forced to use it because the lack of personnel in the live form. Another joke is they always give you trouble on using app with your membership card on it but accept Apple Pay. So much for leaving the wallet home. Why do I pay a membership fee? I expect to get better prices on my purchases. I cannot talk about prices of everything, but I will report on some of my recent purchases. Gas purchased in Webster $2.86.99 on 5/5/19. That is not much if any discount from what is available in Henrietta or other near by gas stations. Yellow onions around 60 cents/lb. Wegmans sells them for 50c/lb. Naval oranges couple weeks back $8 for 8lbs. Wegmans had them for $7. Water melon for $7.50, Wegmans had better ones for $5. Their claim that you save 25% on groceries is far from truth. It is very questionable that one could justify the membership fee. With membership, I would expect that the merchant would sell items at the lowest possible prices for a reasonable profit. I find BJs selling merchandise at the highest possible prices limited only by competition near by. Good example is their Henrietta gas station has significantly lower prices than in Webster. read more
