The service was horrible. We made 4:00 pm reservations for 2. They didn't have enough servers so we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, we asked if we could get bread. The server never brought it. She said they were out and waiting for more. We ordered our food and it was not prepared as we requested. It had to be taken back by a guy who came out to serve our food. We asked him if we could have some bread. This is 30 minutes after we were seated. When we returned with our food, he then brought us bread. It's was not a good experience at this restaurant. Forgot our cheesy bread, asked for butter and cheese on the baked potato, brought out bacon and butter instead, never brought out or asked what we wanted for dessert. The food was good, not great, but we were seated immediately and ordered very quickly. I don't consider Black Angus a "mom and pop" restaurant. They are a nicer steakhouse so passing on a 3% service fee to use a credit card is ridiculous. That's a cost of doing business. This establishment is fairly nice. At the entrance their was some decor that was quite a bit dusty. The clientele were older, and regulars. This will get quite interesting in the future in the next generation since this restaurant is not geared towards the younger folks. The service could improve. Our waitress, younger Hispanic girl, did not offer us complimentary bread and appeared that she did not want to be bothered. We'll too bad, I bothered her anyways. This tip culture is awful especially when employees can barely do their job right. Onto the star of the show, the food. The folks cooking in the back did exceptionally well. First time at Black Angus we were seated pretty quickly. The inside is decorated with western items super nice, really enjoyed seeing the images on the walls. Our server was amazing very attentive and helped with our meal selection. He was always checking on us to see if we needed anything. The food is what needed a bit more flavor I would say. We tried the wagon wheel sampler. That was really good my favorite was the buffalo chicken, flavor was amazing. For the main entree I got the fire grilled shrimp. The shrimp were okay not really seasoned. It came with rice once again nothing special, I was also looking forward to my Mac and cheese but no flavor at all. On August 29th, around 4 p.m., we visited Black Angus for dinner. I've been there before and never had any issues, but this time, we encountered a significant problem. We checked in with our name and the number of people, but the restaurant was extremely hot. Even the hostess seemed uncomfortable. She seated us, but the temperature didn't improve. I inquired about the air conditioning, and she informed me that it wasn't working on half of the restaurant. Can you believe that in a day when the temperature was around 100 degrees outside? Needless to say, we left the restaurant and informed the waitress about the issue. Surprisingly, she didn't offer any explanation or apologize. It's frustrating that the waitress didn't inform us about the malfunctioning air conditioning when we checked in. Why didn't they address the problem and call in the crew to fix it? We decided to try Black Angus again in the future, but not soon. Instead, we found a restaurant that consistently delivers a great dining experience. We had a pleasant dinner for half the price and enjoyed working air conditioning on a scorching day. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at Black Angus. read more

Black Angus provides decent service, good food, a casual atmosphere, at reasonable prices. Nothing "wow", but nothing terrible either. Both visits to this location were to take advantage of their dineLA menu, which they usually offer two options ($25 and $35 menus...see my pics), as well as their standard food and drink menu. They also have the occasional specials, like "Cowboy Day" food and drink specials on our July 24-27 weekend visit. The servers have been friendly and efficient. The manager is friendly and makes his way around to the tables to check on you, but on our last visit, he stood at the table next to us and chatted to his friends/regulars for a good 20-25 minutes. It was a little distracting as he was standing right over my shoulder the whole time. The orders came out correctly, and the steaks were prepared as ordered. This is my first time dining at this location. The service is top-notch. We ordered dinner for two. All of the foods come quickly. However, we saw a dead fly on the table when we were seated. Since we were hungry, I didn't bother to notify the server. However, we are enjoying the food. I noticed it was hot in our section. I saw people use the menu as a paper fan. First, I thought it was the hot weather. Then, when I was going to the restroom (which was located on the other side of the building), it was cool and comfy, but then I realized the AC in my section was not working. I even saw a fan in a dining room. I am not sure why the manager didn't inform us, and I would have chosen another restaurant. Overall, despite the unfortunate AC condition. My family decided to do mainly seafood and other dishes for the holidays this year, so I was looking to fill a prime rib craving. The prime rib was cooked a little over medium rare, and was very salty. Usually prime rib with au jus is a perfect pairing, but I felt like saltiness was the predominant flavor of the sauce and the meat itself. The steak soup was good, but the mashed potatoes lacked flavor. Overall, I'd say the food here was average at best. Tipping culture is getting out of freaking hand!! We usually go inside to eat and the food is good. But, this time we ordered take out and was pissed that I was forced to tip no less than 15% before checking out! I am a generous tipper by nature and even tip for takeout because I think it helps the staff. But being forced to tip!! Pardon my French, but WTF!! My wife was hungry and I don't have a death wish, so I bit the bullet. To add insult to injury, the top sirloin seemed extra tiny and the Prime Rib did not taste like Prime Rib. Both were overcooked and flavorless. Look, I don't expect Morton's or Flemings from Black Angus, but I do expect something better than what I can cook up. I live in the neighborhood, so we'll go inside next time, to see if it was an off day, or if this is the new normal. We order campfire for two about $70 before taxes, best part besides the food was Hector our waiter he was very personable and very easy to talk too. He explain the offer and gave us great suggestions. We both got the baked potato soup was excellent and bread omg so good. I ordered the New York steak with Mac n Cheese and mango ice tea. Visited on a Thursday night with a reservation for 6. There was a small crowd in the lobby, yet they seated me immediately so that was refreshing. Service was fast and to the point, not much chit chat. Our server was nice, but I sensed she had too many tables in parallel. A few times we had to flag the staff down for our bread, drinks, butter, and extra napkins. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It was good, not great. Nicer steakhouses will noticeably have a better seasoned ribeye. My baked potatoes was an extra upgrade charge for "loaded" style....but I feel there potatoes skin sappetizer are more loaded. Plenty of parking is avaliable as you enter the shopping center from whittier blvd or santa gertrudes. Overall the food is good, especially for the price range of a mid grade steakhouse. read more

Friday June 26th, at approximately 6:30pm. First of all I want to start off by saying we are regulars here and we sit at the bar. We love the service that the Bartenders Tracy and Rebecca always give, in fact so much we actually don't sit in restaurant area do to service. With that being said we have meant some pretty amazing people and regulars. Tonight was insane a couple who we have seen on many occasions here was also here tonight and once again things got heated and I am sure a lot of alcohol was involved. Anyways this gentleman started talking about politics very loudly and obnoxiously and pointing fingers at others. Then discussion got heated and the gentleman started calling another gentleman horrible names etc. A regular who we know asked the gentleman to lay off and leave him alone, well he didn't like that and was threatening to take it outside etc. In fact we all asked the guy to just leave it alone. Anyways this particular couple we have seen in the past and also have caused situations. I feel like they should not be allowed to come back to this restaurant and sit where there are families with children trying to enjoy dinner. It was so uncalled for. The language this gentleman was using and his gestures with threats to just nag people on was crazy. The manager finally was called over and asked them to leave but wow this same couple is always causing chaos. I felt so bad for those at the bar and the regulars who were being called out to go and fight. Seriously can't everyone just be kind. You don't talk about politics and religion at a bar with liquid courage being served. Management really needs to maybe not let this couple at the bar anymore. So stressful for all. read more

Ambiance: bustling place with antique like interior Service: greeted upon arrival, short wait before getting seated after walking in on a Friday night. Our friendly waitress took our orders quickly but she was pretty busy with several tables, so I didn't get a chance to get a refill on the water. Food: complimentary bread had a good crust with molasses flavors. I felt that the butter was dull. Crab cakes had a lot of crab, but felt a bit greasy and over seasoned. Green beans were not trimmed down, and the fries had a strange aftertaste (could it be fried in tallow?). The fries were also greasy. The new york strip was overcooked (I asked for medium rare but was sent medium/medium well with a gray band). But to my surprise, it tasted better than the ribeye (which was also 6 dollars extra). The carrot cake (from cheesecake factory) was dry, as if it was a couple of days old. Overall, decent service but the food has much room for improvement. read more

Always order filet mignon but it's hit or miss at this one. Had an unseasoned filet and another time very rare when I ordered a medium. Salad is either good or old lettuce bad. Waiting times are either great or bad and they forget to come back. Unfortunately I hardly ever go there anymore because of that. Long Beach is always the same high quality service and food. I just don't want to drive for 45min there and then 2hrs or more back because of traffic. So sad that restaurants in this area are so bad. read more

I Visited during dinner time and it was still so insanely hot I can't imagine during lunch time. I went for my son's graduation dinner and he was wanting to watch NBA finals but we couldn't even do that. The TV kept glitching and just the look of the place. Wasn't it growing up You think or hear of Black Angus You have a high expectation for it but walking in set that in a different light The chairs were so outdated and ripping apart and you could tell how black they were from people sitting in them The walls next to us were so dirty like they haven't been cleaned The hanging lights were so dusty and the ceiling Well there was no ceiling It's just all fiberglass and you can see the crack in between the fiberglass to where it's exposing the fiberglass. We came here for dine LA but once here decided to do the campfire feast instead. We had reservations but still had to wait about 15-20 mins after checking in. There is plenty of parking around here even if not right in front. This is a family friendly restaurant with a bar seating area and the regular seating area. Our waitress was really nice and on top of everything. Once we sat down, service was great and food came out quick! We brought our own wine, corkage is $15 per bottle. The shrimp cocktail was good and the salads were fresh. I love their bread so we asked for some to go! The steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The green beans were crunchy and tasty. The au gratin potatoes could've been a bit more baked, but were still great. For dessert, we had the mud pie that is like ice cream, it's sweet but not overly sweet. First time visiting this location, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. I normally give businesses the benefit of the doubt and rarely write reviews, but this experience was bad enough that it prompted me to write my first one. We had a reservation for four and arrived on time, but still waited about 30 minutes to be seated--which we were willing to accept. Once seated, our server mentioned they were using a new system and that service might be slower. We understood and were patient. After another 30 minutes, he finally brought bread, but by then we still had no water, our order hadn't been taken, and no drinks had been offered. Our kids were becoming restless, and so were we. Meanwhile, larger tables around us were being served and receiving drinks. By the time we left, we had been there for a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes without even placing an order. It became clear that if we stayed, we likely wouldn't eat for another hour and a half--if we were lucky. The server told us he'd be back shortly, but never returned.
