I've been to this location before and since we all LOVE BBQ It was a perfect way to spend it here. Kayla was our server. This was my first visit here, and unfortunately, it will probably be my last. We came to celebrate Father's Day and left disappointed with both the food and overall experience. I ordered my steak medium, but it arrived extremely undercooked and very bloody. The ribs were dry and overcooked, and the rice pilaf was oddly crunchy--I honestly couldn't tell if it was undercooked or overcooked. The mac and cheese was just okay. At that point, I probably would have been happier with the kids' version (Kraft), because it's hard to mess that up. My son's burger wasn't much better. The cheese looked processed and wasn't even fully melted. My husband's meal was decent overall, although his rice was just as crunchy as mine. As for the service, our server was very sweet and friendly, and I feel bad being critical because she was genuinely nice. However, we repeatedly had to ask for items that were forgotten. The manager stopped by to check on us and asked if we needed anything. I requested steak sauce, but she never returned. I eventually asked our server again, and it finally made its way to the table. When the bill arrived, gratuity had already been added. That was frustrating because neither the food nor the service reflected the level of tip that had been included. To their credit, the gratuity was removed when we requested it so we could leave a tip based on our experience. Overall, the experience just wasn't great. My Big Sis and I met at the Whittier location to catch up on life. I've never been to this restaurant but she was excited because she loves BBQ. Our server was very patient and shared some history about the establishment. I really enjoyed the ambience and was excited to order my meal. He brought out some hot fresh rolls and they were soft and sweet, the whipped butter elevated the bread. I couldn't stop eating the bread and had to slow down! My sister ordered the ribs. I tasted a little and slapped the table! The meat was tender, falling off the bone! I ordered the grilled shrimp, broccoli and sweet potato and can I say delicious!!!!! My! That baked sweet potato was a delight. I even ordered a different dish to go! Our guy was very attentive and we appreciated that and left him a good tip. The parking is free and plenty of space. A very disappointing experience. We had a very sweet waitress and it's unfortunate that she works at such a low effort restaurant. The food is priced like a higher end restaurant but it tastes cafeteria quality and all was very lukewarm. I got the prime rib and was expecting something at least passable but it was unevenly cooked and far from even good quality prime rib. All the food made it feel like we ate at a nursing home but for 4 people it was almost $200! You are better off eating at black angus or any other restaurant for that matter. Also, how dare they sell a Costco beef hot dog as BBQ Sausage. My partner and I enjoy dining at this restaurant. We enjoy it so much, we have taken my dad and my brother to enjoy with us. We always sit in the bar area. Ashlee is amazing!!! She knows our beverage order well. She makes a delicious blood orange margarita. We order bone-in buffalo wings finished on the grill. Let me say - they are absolutely delicious. We order the Original Roadhouse turkey sandwich with fries. It is yummy! Ashlee is knowledgeable, friendly, and speedy. She is always very busy and yet manages to stop by and check on us if we need anything. We see her bringing food out, making drinks, serving drinks, taking orders, washing glassware... the list goes on. She is hardworking and never looks bothered. She provides excellent customer service all the way around. It doesn't stop there! We notice that the manager Bianca is always there. We are always greeted by her. She never rushes us and treats us like our business matters. Bianca is the constant at the Roadhouse Grill. We know that while Bianca is there, she will see to it that the entire restaurant is running smoothly. We pay attention to all the things around us. Respectfully, if Bianca is not the general manager, she should be because she is truly spectacular at what she does and especially to the customers. We hope she never departs. We love seeing her there. She makes us feel like we are guests and not just another customer. Last but not least, sometimes Ashlee's tables are full. We sit in the bar area but David is our server; again, spectacular service. David is knowledgeable, friendly, and speedy. He has never gotten our order wrong. Came In for dinner this evening. Haven't been here into this restaurant in awhile so I thought It would be great to have some good BBQ again since I haven't had any in sometime. I remember walking in and seeing peanut shells on the floor and a vibrant feel of country road house BBQ vibes and good music and fun. However, today I found none of that. When I walked in there was no one at the host podium, no peanut shells on the floor, and only faint music in the distance. I even had to find my party who was already seated on my own. Once we joined them I quickly noticed the air was stagnate, no fans were on, and if the AC was on, it was just not hitting the room. I also noticed that the music was only playing in the main room and no music was playing in the room we were in so I decided to play music on my phone for the room since the white noise from the neon lights started to become a bit annoying to some of us. The server that helped us was AWESOME! Let me also state that the Manager was AWESOME as well. So I wanna put that out there... she was a rock star. However, the food on the other hand... I personally feel that some of us got Catfished on some of the menu items, but that's just my opinion. My sister ordered the Mesquite shrimp which should've had 10 large shrimp, And although it did have 10 shrimp, it did not seem to be the standard size of a large shrimp which was disappointing. We both also ordered the Mac n cheese which was lacking in taste. I can't put my finger on it, but it was just missing something. It was missing a cheese taste if that makes any sense. My baked potato came out a bit burnt on the bottom, and I never got any refills for my strawberry lemonade. For the most part my family seems to love this place but I guess I just have that luck. We have been going here for years, almost weekly. Something must be up with their HVAC system. During the winter it is so cold inside you need a jacket. Tonight when we went it was so hot it was intolerable. There was a portable air conditioner that was more for a single room. It did not take the edge off. The servers looked like they were melting. It was 84 outside and actually cooler than inside the restuarant. Why would an establishment have improper ventilation. There is no excuse. If this is not addressed, I can see them losing longtime business. Don't go if it is hot or cold outside, you will be miserable. read more

Came here on a Sunday with family, seated pretty quickly for a party of 5. Great service from the waitress, wish I caught her name but she was a sweet young lady with short black hair. Very attentive, great service. The food was delicious, everyone loved what they ordered, my steak was a perfect medium and the quality of it was so good, no fat at all. I write this review not about the food, but about a recent change in this location's management. I've been a customer at this restaurant since the Original Roadhouse Grill opened in Whittier. I used to love their Bison steak, which they offered prior to the pandemic. Although they've discontinued it, I continued to frequent this location because it's one of our hometown restaurants, the food has always been good and more importantly, my guests and I always felt welcome. All of that changed yesterday, when another person and I stopped in for an early afternoon meal. As a result of the way we were treated, we ended up walking out and probably won't return. To begin with, there's no longer anyone at the front desk as you enter. There seemed to be at least three people in the restaurant. One person in the kitchen cooking. Another sitting down on a table to the left of the entryway, eating and one other fellow in the bar area. We sat in the entryway for quite some time. I walked around toward the kitchen looking for someone to get us seated, but was completely ignored for at least ten minutes. I finally walked into the bar area and asked several people who were chatting like patrons if anyone there worked at the restaurant. With that, a little short and extremely rude unshaved fellow piped up and said "I do and I'm busy right now, just wait." I was stunned that an employee would first ignore us and then act like he would do us a favor and seat us when he got through talking to the people in the bar. He stayed there talking to those customers for at least another five minutes before they left the restaurant. His behavior was so rude that the customers he was talking to eventually walked by us and said they were sorry he behaved the way he did, but the food would be worth it once we finally got seated. Well, I've always enjoyed the food, so we waited a bit longer. Eventually, the employee who was eating at a table to the left got up and walked back into the kitchen. He ultimately walked back toward the front where we were still waiting to be seated, but simply ignored us. I've never before been treated as though I just didn't matter at any restaurant. Mind you, there weren't many customers in the restaurant as it was about 2:00 pm. Finally, the little short obnoxious guy from the bar walked out and grabbed several menus and begrudgingly took us to a seat. While doing so, he literally chastised us, stating that he's very busy and behaved as though we should have no expectation of being seated when we come into the restaurant and that we were imposing on him, rather than as valued customers. Once we were seated, he actually told us that he was so busy that we would have to wait until he was available to take our order. I stated that I understood that he was busy and wasn't blaming him, to which he literally yelled back "YOU ARE BLAMING ME!" I've never in my life been treated by any restaurant the way this little fellow treated us. My guest and I looked at each other and both decided we couldn't eat in a restaurant that had an employee that behaves so rudely and literally insults its customers. I've been eating at this location since it opened. Indeed, I frequented the restaurant that was in this location before the Original Roadhouse opened, decades ago. We up and left, telling your employee that we didn't want to eat there at that point. We went to Chili's, where we were treated the way customers should be treated. Well, Original Roadhouse, you've lost some customers. Even the people this fellow was talking to realized how rude he was and seemingly apologized, noting that the food was worth it. No, it's not worth it. Customers want a pleasant atmosphere as well as good food. This guy has to go and someone needs to train all of the employees to greet customers as they come come through your door. Don't leave them standing by themselves at the front desk for ten to fifteen minutes. The employee sitting eating could have easily said, hey I'm on my break but someone will be with you shortly. The little guy that was talking to his friends in the bar should have realized that people were waiting in the front and at least said something. Then, there was no need to verbally insult us after he finally seated us and told us he was busy and wouldn't be back to take our order for some time. Who does that? I'm certain none of the restaurant's owners encourage that type of behavior. Anyway, to whoever owns the Original Roadhouse in Whittier: You've lost a regular - decades long - customer. I won't be back as long as that guy works in your restaurant. Neither will the person who was with me. You need good management more than anything. No good manager would let such an abusive employee treat customers the way this guy did. If you've got video of what happened, I urge you to review it. One employee can destroy a business and this guy is doing exactly that. read more

Haven't been here in years and I'm sorry to say I will NEVER be back! We walked in and it was questionable, we were seated right away to a dirty table. I walked to the restroom to wash my hands and asked someone to wipe our table, she says "just move to the next one" I told her that one is also dirty as was the next one over. We usually have Patty as our server. Today we had Autumn. Both are fantastic. Autumn tried her best when we voiced our dissatisfaction with the new menu changes. Most of the food that we get every time we go has been removed from the menu. The sweet potato fries, the green beans, the honey molasses BBQ sauce, the BBQ ranch dressing, the boneless wings, the artichoke dip and the brownie have all been taken away. I have been getting the honey molasses BBQ sauce for about 30 years. Even though it's not what I wanted, I was going to order an entree with a different sauce until I was DENIED getting the same item for both my sides. I was informed they could no longer provide "double sides". I would have to get two different sides instead of two of the same thing. One of the reasons I go to Roadhouse is for the baked sweet potato. I don't think management should tell a customer that we can't have the sides we want. I drive a little over an hour for this restaurant and often enough that some of the servers remember us. Patty even remembers our order. That will no longer happen. Been coming to this location for about 18+ years give or take. What once was our happy family place - turned into a nostalgic memory of the beginning of our family. My husband and are were hard workers and we had two young small ones. And everytime we wanted to have a date (no sitter) we chose this Roadhouse in Whittier. It was our family fun "go-to"! We would come and get the steak meals and two kid plates. After our meal we would hang around and tire-out our kids with a sugary dessert and allowed them to play outside; when they once upon a time had a patio. Just so many amazing memories! Fast forward 18 years later, I feel the same vibe, expect without my hubby or kiddos; their too busy now (eye-roll). The point of my review is not all about my memory but about the feeling and the memories! Today I came to charge my car across the way and said let me revisit what once was for me and family. I'm so happy I did! It's a bit lonely, Cheers Vibes, I don't see the peanuts that me and my kiddos would obnoxiously cracked open and dropped to the floor, but more of a community connection. I came solo (as I mentioned earlier) and was greeted, asked for my beverage of choice, buy my server "Ashely"(bar and food server) was too riding solo. We went for steak and expected it to be a mid to low level experience but even then it was disappointing. When we walked in on a Friday night at 7 the restaurant was nearly deserted. I ordered bacon wrapped filet, garlic mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. My steak had no flavor, neither did the mash. My husband's food was bland as well. Even my fries were soggy. The lemonade was a large portion but had a medicinal taste. It was a 70 dollar meal that was worth like 30. It also took a long time to get our check. Great that this is local, but very sad atmosphere. Front doors to even visit stick, no host anymore, and 1 server appears to be covering whole restaurant. The AC was broken so they have large fans and small temporary AC units next to booths. The bathrooms are broken so patrons must use cooks bathroom after walking into kitchen. There were so many options that I couldn't decide what to get. I finally settled on the BLT with candy bacon. For $17, I was expecting something amazing. Who puts candy bacon on a BLT. My girlfriend ordered the American burger, which was equally disappointing. It was not seasoned and tasteless, and the fries were burnt. I not going to talk about the chili. Seriously, what the f** was that? I've never had a worse meal in my life. I can't believe I paid for a 17 dollar BLT. The food was so bad that I couldn't even finish it.
