Menifee location has gone downhill. Ordered prime rib and got a paper thin slice of meat for $30 portions are small now. They're out of everything. Ordered chicken. It was small and dried out because it was old. Need to change biscuit recipe, they're terrible and dry like you're eating straight flour. I don't see anyone eating them and hear a lot of complaints about them. read more

The food is pretty standard diner type. Served on a large platter that would easily serve two average eaters. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is mountain cabin Decor. I think it is a little too pricey to visit on a regular basis . I had a club sandwich which was fresh and well filled with Regular ingredients. Very trashy and disrespectful experience dealing with pm shift. I made a simple mistake and the new manager who was very nasty toward me. I assumed the wife called an order but she did not ( as I found out later) I am used to ordering dinner around 7ish, I was definitely off but not disrespectful. This new manager was totally unprofessional even as I begged her pardon. Her demeanor was definitely hostile. Usually I will not order food from someone with this kind of energy. (The usual server and I have had dealings but the were meager. ) because I don't always tip for take outs. After tonight I now get it that she is a sour grape although I have given her 10.00 tips.. After the misunderstandings was cleared up I noticed there was I not so good vibe but since I dealt with the regular server on numerous occasions I was under the impression we could move pass this seemingly misunderstanding, so I showed her the actual order with their online price and when she ringed it up it came out 4.00 more. I asked her why there was such a gap in the price then she said I will just let my manager take care of the issue. The manager said something very rude and asinine and because I was fairly toasted I said : "fair enough" and gave her a 3.85 tip. Got the order went home, my wife inspects it and is not happy, turn out this server ordered a slightly different item to jump the price up( I have both the receipt from this purchase and the screenshotted order from my wife baring the total and all) this is very petty and dishonest I felt scammed and overlooked ( of course she did take my order from the screenshotted pict my wife sent to my phone) when we called to notify them of their disservice and our and our disappointment she ( the server) offered some extra fish but no the damage was done my gas and time was wasted of course the manager poorly tried to attempt to care but It did not matter. Black bear had really fumbled across the board. Of course the only thing that would suffice is a refund with the tip i gave her! (this is only right after rigging the cost and not even thanking me when I did tipper her!) I actually love this place but the service needs to be corrected. read more

The food was not good not what I expected from blackbear the portion size was small I asked for butter by the time the waitress got back with my butter. My food was cold. My son pancakes had a hair in it. We went there for his birthday they didn't honor the coupon, that I received from them the cashier lady was really rude. My husband and I have recently moved to this area and are trying to find all the replacement restaurants that we used to go to. We went to this Black Bear and met Kayla...she was awesome!! The food was great...as it normally is, but I need to mention the service. When we told Kayla that we had just moved to the area... and hadn't been to a Black Bear in a while....she told us all about the menu changes and the upcoming summer menu items. She is just the best! First time trying BB Diner & honestly this place is insanely overpriced. I ordered 2 pancakes with strawberries on top, eggs, & a small orange juice and it came out to $30. My meal technically came with sausage but they don't allow substitutions if you're vegetarian and want to swap the meat for say hashbrowns (even if you are willing to pay extra), so I basically paid $$ for nothing. The small orange juice was also SO tiny. Think drink size for a child 5 yrs. old and under (it's also like $6). The food quality is no better than a Dennys or IHOP and you could actually probably get more bang for your buck at a different breakfast spot. The staff was very friendly but comparing prices to food quality... the cost is not justifiable. Will not be returning, unfortunately. read more

Went for breakfast. Service was very good, but the food was not well prepared. The egg over-easy was the smallest egg I have ever seen. The bacon was way overdone to the point of almost being burnt. The coffee was awful (Love BJ's coffee) with a weird taste, the hash browns were not crispy but hard as a rock and the biscuit was very gooey and dense. All of it was barely warm. $17.00. Nope. Prices went up and quality of food went down!! Disappointed on our last visit here on June 15th. We've been coming here since it opened and love the breakfasts. Unfortunately, our last visit on Saturday June 15th for dinner was not good. It wasn't that busy but we waited a long time for our food and when it arrived Prime Rib was way over cooked and not even close to Medium Rare like my hubby asked for. They took it back and brought out a rare one. Our 18 year old granddaughter ordered the Surf & Turf and the steak was tiny and also over cooked, she asked for Medium Rare. I said she should return it but she was shy about doing that and we were shocked that the waitress just stood there and didn't say "so sorry let me get you a new one" she said nothing then my granddaughter got embarrassed and said it was fine (she doesn't like rocking the boat) poor girl could barely cut it with the steak knife. The 3 shrimp were OK. The Manager came over and offered us complimentary desserts because of what happened but when the waitress came back and we all wanted dessert she said (in not a friendly manner) "no it's just one dessert" but the manager didn't say 1 dessert only!! She definitely wasn't as good as the other waitresses we've had there. I loved their roast Turkey dinner there but this time it was "pressed" Turkey slices and I was very disappointed . I'm not a Menifee local but I was so excited to try their newly opened Black Bear Diner and my expectations were surely exceeded! Their menu is so accommodating and they have so much variety for any occasion. My experience was immensely heightened after being served by their waitress Any who provided us the most wonderful service and was very attentive and kind, making us feel very welcomed. We went for breakfast before 8 am, no waiting. It is very pleasant inside and the staff all very friendly and attentive. We had a coupon for a 2 for 1 breakfast, 2 eggs choice of meat and sides. The eggs were cooked to order, the portions are generous. My French toast was good, the biscuits under the unimpressive gravy were so dry it was not consumed. Any meal is about $20, a cup of coffee is $4. It's good to have the open restaurant back, and the parking lot access has been improved. read more

We decided to try the place out, and I'm telling you right now, we have ZERO regrets! I go here 2-3 times a week and order door dash as well. Today I went in and per the usual asked to sub the hashbrowns and the bread because I am diabetic and I can't eat those items. I have been accommodated every time until today. The waitress took forever to even take my order. She kept passing me and saying I'll be right there...once she took my order she refused to do the substitutions. She didn't care about my diabetes. I told her that everyone else has always accommodated my request to which she snapped "WELL THEY SHOULDNT HAVE" On my way out I told her that even door dash orders accommodated my request so she doesn't have her info right. She responded loudly and sarcastically " BYE BYE SIR. HAVE A GREAT DAY" to which I yelled "F@%k You". There was no reason for her to be so aggressive with me. There was no reason to be so rude while doing it. She should have asked the manager or had the manager come talk to me instead of being so nasty. I spend at least $100 a week between in person visits and doordash and I will never go there again. Employees like this are a complete liability and should not be allowed to badger customers like this. Diabetics are so limited on the foods they can eat as it is. I can't afford to pay $17 for and omelet and throw away the rest of the meal because I cant eat it. It's an unkind and cruel disease. I dont need people to be unkind and cruel to me on top of it. The food industry needs to wake up and realize they are part of the problem and need to try to be part of the solution. Help diabetics with their dietary needs. I complain to the manager but she just blame the waitress . But the truth is that they are under staff ! My son told me that the same thing happen to him in Murrieta restaurant .
