I usually love Black Bear Diners to have a breakfast. But, today I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I totally understand being busy, because I've worked restaurant business. Wow! Bring your appetite when you get here! The servings are incredibly large and the taste was incredible. Too often, a patty melt can have a little greasy texture on the toast but this was perfectly done. Loved the red onions on it too, great job Black Bear! Place has a good look and the menu looks nice but the wait staff is horrible. Waited 20 minutes last night to be completely ignored by the wait staff. Other customers around me were served but I was ignored completely until I walked out the door. We have a BBD in Moore, y'all! No need to drive to MWC to get some good breakfast foods. Now before I get started keep a few things in mind: This review is solely for my food only, they were pretty busy and lastly this was thier second day of being open. We came in on a Tuesday night around 6pm. The place was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. There were empty seats throughout and nobody was waiting to be seated. I ordered the half roasted chicken dinner. It comes on a bed of cornbread stuffing (which mine was missing) with a salad, sweet corn muffin and two sides. My choices on the sides were macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. I know, I know it's super healthy... Anyway, the salad came first. I ordered ranch with it, which by the way was the greatest ranch I've tested in a while. It has a slight bacon flavor that was a great addition. They forgot to corn muffin, so he brought it to me later. It was big enough that I shared it with my two drooling children and my husband who was giving me the best puppy dog eyes he could muster. Their was some confusion on table numbers so several people were given other people's orders, mine included. They were quickly given to their rightful owner so no big deal. The portion size was nice. The chicken looked beautiful! The macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes also looked nice...but not as beautiful as that chicken. I always start with my sides first, so I started with the macaroni and cheese. The sauce was really, really gritty, like they added the milk into the roux and then added the cheese while the milk was still boiling. It was also really heavy on the parmesan which bulldogged it's way over any other flavors that there may have been. The potatoes were decent and the brown gravy was very good. The chicken itself, like I said was so pretty. The dark meat was flavorful and tender. The breast, however was so salty and dry I couldn't eat it. It was so, so dry. Dipping it in the brown gravy didn't save it. So basically it was a 15.00 meal that consisted of a good side salad, a few bites of a chicken leg decently mashed potatoes and a corn muffin. My tongue is still tender from the salty burn you get with over-seasoned food. I know they are still working the kinks out, so if you go have patience.... And stick with breakfast or a salad. read more

there were ants all over the walls and booths. it was so bad that a couple left because there were still ants. there was a long wait for our food just for it to be mediocre. the service was okay, I feel like the waiter we had was a little less intelligent. she gave me and my family our drinks without any straws, and kinda just wandered around everywhere. read more

It was our first time here and so much of it was positive. The staff was amazing. They were on top of checking on everything, refills, and the food came out quickly. The portion sizes are huge. If we would have know this, me and my husband would have shared. They also do have pretty damn good ranch. But the food wasn't the best quality. You could tell that a lot of their food is frozen and then fried when ordered. The food wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't amazing. The prices are also.. crazy. Afterwards you get that, crap I paid how much for this?? Feeling. But you do get a massive amount of food. So if you share with someone, you would have that chance of actually finishing your meal, and the price would be right. read more

Atmosphere and hostess were nice and our waitress was pleasant . My one star would be for that reason , We were seated right by the kitchen and pickup area and watched as order after order sat under the heat lamps for what seemed like an eternity . We recognized and watched as our order sat under the lamps for fifteen minutes and then a waitress , not ours took them down and sat them on a counter for another five . When our tepid meal arrived I could tell that the Pub style fish and chips looked suspiciously like it came out of a box of Gordon's frozen fish and the fresh fries were also frozen . As we were waiting for our check I noticed two ladies across from us had been there awhile and when the waitress finally brought their food it must've been wrong because they left after some creative hand gestures without eating . My favorite place to eat breakfast in more was an early casualty of last year's pandemic. I'm on the lookout for a new one and decided to try the Black Bear Diner. The date car was nice and has its own vibe. Service was relatively quick and friendly on such a busy day. Coffee was okay nothing great but not bad. My table mate had the mini volcano with an extra side of hash Browns. I'm not a big pancake guy but let me tell you that was a seriously good pancake! I got the California omelette and a side of bacon. The Omelette wasn't bad. It was pretty big but kind of light on stuffing. The avocado in the picture is the entire amount for the whole thing, two little slivers. There was almost no jack cheese to speak of, to the point that I actually had to look inside to see if they forgot it! Hash browns and biscuit were very good. The bacon was supposed to be extra crispy and it wasn't but it was still a decent bacon. I wasn't blown away by my experience but I would probably come back. I'd give 3.5stars if I could. read more

If you like bears, pics of bears, and mediocre diner food, this is your place. I had the so-called "BIGFOOT Chicken Fried Steak". What arrived on my plate was disappointing at first look -- plenty of room on my plate for two such "steaks". The meat beneath the coating was super tender because it had been macerated to death and spread far and wide prior to breading. Looked like a frozen patty and tasted like one. The gravy mix was ok. My brother said the breakfast was good, so I'd recommend that. read more

Just ate here for the first time today and LOVED it! Shane was our server and he was so friendly! All of the employees had their masks on and everyone was sitting 6 ft apart so it definitely made us feel like they care about their customers. My daughter and I went to the Black Bear Diner for a late breakfast. We were greeted by happy staff members. The decor was very much like what I've seen in areas around Yellowstone National Park with clever carved bears climbing logs in comical poses. The newspaper menu was similar to the local newspapers of mountain communities. My daughter ordered an omelette with potatoes and biscuits. I got the double eggs with corned beef hash and biscuits. The plates were filled with an amazing amount of food. It was delicious! The corned beef was much like the brisket I make for St. Patrick's Day. The waitress was jovial and right on the spot with taking orders and filling our glasses. While waiting for our food we wandered around the sales "shop" where we found huckleberry syrup, jam, taffy (even sugar-free), and other items from Kalispell, MT. It's the same company that sold the same items when I was in Montana. I'm in love with anything HUCKLEBERRY! The experience was a wonderful. Even the cook came out to check on things. I went to the black bear diner with my friends on July 4 at 2 PM, and had the worst experience at a restaurant I've EVER had, the waitress's name is Pebbles she wanted to give up on our table and other tables half way through the meal. She was back talking us the entire time we were there, she was rude and inconsiderate. She told my friend she would throat punch him because he wanted to order more food, we felt harassed and disrespected. After the SECOND time she got my order wrong she put my plate down infront of me knowing my meal was wrong, she was simultaneously talking to another server and she said, "He said he wanted the gravy on the side, but oh well, he'll have to eat it how it came." I will not be going back and I absolutely hated the experience. read more

This was hands down the best place in OKC!!! Loved every bite! Heather was AMAZING! We went there yesterday and had to come back today and requested to seat in her section because of how great she was yesterday; she treated us like we were friends and even got to meet the Manager, also sweet!! I wish we had one Black Bear Diner in Dallas because I would deff go every week! The pancakes were awesome (not pictured) and the OJ was really fresh and sweet!! Suggested this place to the family after a hard-fought soccer game. They all loved this place. The servings are big (especially for the price) and the service at this place was some of the best we've ever experienced anywhere. They brought us the wrong salad, realized the mistake, and brought us a new one. They boxed the mistake up and gave it to us. Our server was very attentive. This place was okay. Every one of their burgers (with real meat) is in excess of 1,000 calories and the onion rings are over 1,500 calories. I just cannot see eating a day and a half worth of calories in a burger and onion rings. I ordered the turkey club and fries; the sandwich was okay and I did not eat the fries. There was nothing spectacular or memorable about the sandwich. It was turkey lunch meat with ham and a little bacon. The fries were greasy and as stuck together as they were, could not have been cooked to order. With so many other good places to eat in the Metro, Black Bear Diner...been there; done that. read more

Went to Black Bear in Moore for brunch this morning. got there around 10:30 and was prepared for the 45 minute wait they informed us of. we were actually seated much quicker, about 15 minutes later. Our server was lovely and very attentive. However--we waited a FULL HOUR AFTER we placed our order for our food to arrive! The food was descent but was luke warm and not worth the wait. For that wait alone we will not return. read more
