I give it three stars due to the food and service. The Burger was amazing but little sad on how much onions rings I got that came with it. The service here needs some improvement. Took about ten minutes until we were greeted by our server. From an ex servers perspective view, ask the guests if it their first time here since it is a new establishment, give a couple of suggestions, consolidate with your tables in your section so you do not have to make multiple trips, our server never offered dessert and the child had to bring up her free dessert after the check was dropped and last but not least, always check your ticket before you drop it at the table. First time trying this place, we came for breakfast & got seated immediately, no wait. So that was good. The restaurant itself is super cute & bear themed. Now, the food was very mediocre. I got a 2 egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns & a biscuit. I asked for the hash browns extra crispy & they were actually kind of soggy, the biscuit was huge but very dry, the bacon was greasy & soggy as well. I'd didn't taste horrible so I definitely want to come back for lunch/Dinner & give them another shot. Breakfast isn't the best but they have lots of options on the menu. read more

I ordered two biscuits and was surprised to see how large the biscuits were and how little gravy was added to the dish. Unfortunately, they could have drowned the mountain of dry crumpled biscuits in the gravy, and it still would have been flavorless, I tried adding pepper and seasonings too spruce it up, but the overpowering flavor of starchy bland was not recoverable. Your biscuits and gravy are a abomination and should removed from your menu immediately. read more

When BBD first opened the food was great, would get take out often. Last night we ordered out, Bruce's Meat Lovers Omelette and the Cheeseburger Salad. While eating the salad I noticed some grayish "fudge" substance on the lettuce... pretty sure it was mud. They also forgot my dressing. Sadly, we will not be ordering from here again. Food was excellent! I had the Santa Maria Tri-tip (little less portion) & my friend had the BBQ Ribs. I thought mine was going to be little pieces/chunks of steak, but they were slices, which I prefer, and cooked exactly how I ordered it. The seasoning was so good, I didn't need any sauce or ketchup at all. Delicious as served. The ribs were tender & also delicious as-is. Main dish prices are reasonable, although the desserts are a little on the pricey side. I also ordered pot roast to take home, & again, it was delicious as is. The side of corn bread was notable, not only for it tasting wonderful because it is 'just' cornbread after all, but that it was not gritty/grainy like most corn breads I've had before. It was...smooth? Soft, anyway, and just the right amount of sweetness. The coconut & banana cream pies are also delicious. Decor, or just the look of the diner itself, was fun. Bears everywhere. The menu is a bit unwieldy because of its size, but it is informative, descriptive, easily folded in half to make room, and the print is big enough to actually read everything. Our server was Kara. She did a great job, answered all our questions, was personable/friendly w/o being intrusive, and was very patient. Well let me say it was disappointing, Arrived and got in line for seating, wasn't to long a time before was seated. Young man was our waiter, don't remember name, he came right after seated, took our drink order, came back quickly then took brunch order. Well it went down hill from there. We waited and waited and waited, Finally waiter was coming by and I signaled him and asked where our order was. He told me we where waiting on a waffle because they only had one waffle machine. I said are you kidding a waffle! Let me check. Well low and behold here comes our plates. Everything had been under the heat lamps so long lettice and orange was wilted, Waffle wasn't any hotter than the rest of the cold food... I've never had problems here before , the hostess must have been new I have never seen her but by far the worse hostess and customer service from her, her name was Jaylyn grey hoodie and nose ring. We had been waiting for over an hour we had parties being seated before us that had got there after us who were big parties and even smaller. Went once for my sons birthday no one really cared for their food very much. Tried to go back today and I walked in to an empty restaurant and everyone being seated in one tiny section at 4pm on a Saturday. Im all for keeping areas clean and shutting down sections but that felt like I was walking in to a place I was already unsure about and be cramped in there like sardines. I asked to wait to be sat elsewhere because I didn't feel comfortable being sat smushed at a table with a missing chair in the middle of a whole bunch of people in less square footage than the living room of my home and the hostess was like well we're only seating people right there... so I ended up leaving. Food service is always great, and when it's not too good, Chris the manager does an outstanding job to make sure the problem is resolved and she always makes us we feel welcomed. I ordered the all you can eat fish. The fried fish pieces were so small they looked like fish sticks. Definitely not what you would expect for a 'fish fry'. I saved the last piece because it was the largest out of the four pieces. I took a big bite out of the nugget sized piece of fish and it was RAW! The batter was browned but the fish was completely raw. Still not sure how that happened but needless to say I almost got sick and lost it all right there. My husband and son had never been to Black Bear Diner so we decided to stop by for breakfast today. Our Server Jennifer was amazing, very friendly and helpful a true joy. My husband likes to joke around and have fun with servers, and she took everything in stride and dished it playfully back to him. My son ordered the Big foot, Hubby had the Joe's Hobo omelette (minus the spinach) and I just had the biscuits and gravy on the little less menu (it comes with bacon and i added a side of egg). Everything was hot fresh and so delicious. large portions, brought enough home for another meal. At checkout again the staff staff was super friendly, and warm. We talked to Vanessa the manager and she was appreciative of our complements.
