We've been wanting to try the Friday night all-you-can-eat fish fry basket at Black Bear Diner, and we finally made it in tonight! For $19.99, you get two pieces of fish, three hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce, and it is a LOT of food. My husband and I each ordered one and didn't even make it to a second round. Honestly, we could've shared one plate. The fish was crispy and delicious, i really liked their tarter sauce The fries were great, even the coleslaw was really good. Everything tasted really good overall. The only letdown was the hushpuppies -- they just didn't taste quite right, and were very dry inside, alomost like they wernt fried all the way through, which was disappointing. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our drinks full the entire time, which we really appreciated. The kids loved their meals too. Each of them got the Mini Volcano from the kids menu, a hot chocolate, and a free sundae with their kids meal. Overall, a great family-friendly experience with generous portions and friendly service. Plus the restaurant is cute with a little gift shop insude. We'll definitely be back and next time we plan on trying some of thier pie!

Piece of bone or something in the meatloaf!

Orders the meatloaf dinner and on the third bite, I bit into something hard. Was able to sour it out and looks like a piece of bone or chipped tooth. Not mine! Gross!

Love this location. Every single time I come there staff are absolutely helpful and in such a positive mood. The atmosphere is just so positive with their staff. The portions are huge so breakfast is always two meals so I get my moneys worth for sure. Love the food, love the staff here.

FOOD - Bear's Choice: I chose scrambled eggs, a sweet cream waffle, and hickory ham steak. The waffle and eggs were good. The ham slice was small though. 3.75/5 SERVICE: Friendly and attentive. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: Tons of options. Fair price. I love that the kids get ice cream with their kid meals.

We came on a weekday morning. Rather than being greeted, we waited until someone gathered menus, only spoke to confirm their assumption that there was 3 of us, & led the way to follow her. We were seated at a clean booth. Our server came quickly & was a nicer presence. Everything was pretty straightforward. We ordered The Grizz, The Volcano, & a Kids Sprinkle Cakes. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. We were able to add a side of strawberries with whipped cream & have incorrect scrambled eggs corrected to the ordered poached eggs quickly. We find this location to have consistently good food that's nicely presented. Customer service has been satisfactory to very good.

Today I went in with my husband. We ordered the Bears Choice and a side of biscuits and gravy. It was more than enough food for the both of us. Food came out quickly however the biscuits and gravy was cold. The server brought out a warm order promptly after we told him. Black Bear is a great American diner and a simple menu.

    Rotten broccoli

The service was extremely slow! It wasn't busy, with only 6 tables occupied with guests!! We waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come take our drink and food orders. My husbands burger was amazing! My cornbeef & cabbage, not so much!! My broccoli was rotten and the cook said it was not rotten, but "fire grilled!!" I was not going to argue, but it was rotten!! Our server, Nikole was very friendly! My dinner apart from the broccoli & carrots was amazing! But shame on you for serving veggies that are clearly rotten and NOT "fired"!!

I haven't tried this particular salad at Bennett's before and I was pleased. It's a very large portion, you easily could take some home. It was flavorful packed full of fresh greens, shredded grilled chicken, small chunks of avacado, corn and a mix of other delicious ingredients, and tossed in a light dressing. It came slightly warmed which was very enjoyable. I washed it down with an Arnold Palmer. Very refreshing. Sitting out on the patio was very pleasant as it wasn't too hot outside, and the space is air conditioned in any case. Bennett's service is always friendly and very accommodating and this particular time maintained that special quality. There were plenty of open tables and we sat chatting for way too long after finishing our meal, yet it wasn't an issue. Thanks Bennett's. Always a nice experience.

Q1227 easily became one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento…read more We started with the lobster bites and broccolini. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a new place for all of them, but I've been here (and the previous location) multiple times. The food has always been good and I enjoy the creative menu. As expected, everyone enjoyed the food this night as well! I had the Beef Wellington, something I rarely see on menus... so when I DO see it, it's usually on my short list. It was excellent. The broccolini was great too (it was the veggie I chose). And... the carrot cake! Bravo! I love a great carrot cake. The unfortunate negative for us? And I hate to even mention this, but it was definitely a thing for us... the musician, whom I LOVED for his talent and music... was just too loud for us. Not sure what to suggest on that. We enjoyed the music, but we couldn't hear anything else. We couldn't hear each other... we couldn't hear the waiter more often than not... the horn (clarinet) just blasted us out. We weren't RIGHT next to him, we were a couple tables away... but the same side of the room as him. In the future, I'll try to be seated further away if I'm with a group that wants to talk. I'll be back... but maybe after I take an ASL course.
