Several food tags hanging. Monitor shows something else

They were short handed as all restaurants are now days. The food was good. The trademark biscuit was one of the biggest that we have seen, and good. Joyce our server was very good, and ontherun. We got in before the breakfast rush. One of the better BBDs that we have visited. My wife and I recently visited on our way through town. 4 years since our last visit, it appears they still operate short staffed. A short wait for the server to take our drink order. Then off to the next table when he could have taken our food order. To which we waited about 5-10 minutes for him to return to take our food order. It was taking at least 20-30 for the food to come out from the kitchen. It was interesting watching the manager clear all of the food orders off the monitor when there were about 10 tags hanging. Yes when service is slow it gives people time to watch to wonder while the service is slow and observe what is happening. My mini volcano looked more like a child's volcano of when we were coming out of the pandemic. Cost savings in the name of slow service.

I've heard of Black Bear Diner and wanted to give it a try. I was getting my car serviced at Frontier Toyota you know how that goes so I had some time to kill and decided to stop in for breakfast. Gail seated me and took care of me. She was great at multitasking and stayed attentive throughout. I ordered the bacon avocado Benedict with thick-cut hash browns. The presentation was great, and the poached eggs were perfectly runny (which is a big plus some places really miss the mark on that). The hash browns were super crispy, just how I like them. Everything was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be coming back!

Basic breakfast and lunch I think it is high price for what you get Service was sub par and food was adequate. It's possible that black bear is just not my thing but it may be yours high end dennys

We've been coming to this Denny's location for years, and every single time it's been a pleasant experience. That kind of consistency is hard to find, and it's exactly why we keep coming back. The environment is always chill, low key, and comfortable the kind of place where you can sit, relax, enjoy good company, and not feel rushed. Whether it's a casual breakfast or a laid back dinner, it's just an easy, reliable spot for us. The food has always been really good, and we've never had issues with either the meals or the staff. I normally order the Hearty 9 Grain Pancakes Combo, and it never disappoints filling, warm, and exactly what you want when you're craving a classic comfort breakfast. Kevin usually goes for the Country Fried Steak Combo, which he always enjoys and finishes every time. The staff has consistently been kind and attentive, and the overall experience just feels steady and dependable. After years of visiting, this location has truly earned its place as one of our go to comfort spots. Another relaxed meal, another happy visit and we'll definitely keep coming back. A dependable favorite that consistently turns everyday moments into something a little special.

This place is so underrated and honestly deserves all 5 stars. Came here for breakfast today and honestly glad I did. I got today's special which was the prime scramble (scrambled eggs with BEEF ribs) which tasted great. And is also so hard to find a place with beef ribs instead of pork ribs. Came with two sides the biscuit and gravy and the sweet potato fries. My friend got the breakfast chorizo burrito, it honestly looked soooo good but I'm not fan of burritos but it just looked huge and said it was delicious. The white cheddar Mac and cheese however was so normal and I'd just prefer the normal traditional yellow Mac and cheese imo. We got the chocolate cream pie AND omgggggg that was sooooooooo delicious! I'd just go there to get that next time.(sorry if the pie was half eaten lol that how good it was. I remembered to take the picture when it was almost done hahahaha) The service was very awesome and attentive with all of our requests, thank you so much irelanda (I believe that was her name, I apologize if I miss wrote it) drink refills she was in it. Getting us sauces and utensils she was in it with a big smile on her face. Also, working out the sides for us was very helpful of her. The ambience was so country style theme. Which I'm assuming that's the background of the place. It was so calm and relaxing in there. So no complaints about the place. Honestly, one of the best diners I have ever been to. I'm definitely going to be back again for dinner or lunch to try it out.

I've been going to Black Bear for years, usually the one on the other side of the grapevine in Arvin but we decided it had been quite a while and stopped in here. It was very quiet and not busy at all and we were sat immediately. Our food took some time, and I'm sure some people would have complained because we were like the 3rd and 4th people dining in that day, but people should realize they cook their food to order. Obviously there's random prepped ingredients but 95% of the items have to be made to order. The upside is that it will be fresh, but the downside might be that it isn't the fastest in the restaurant game especially if it's a busy weekend morning. Personally the portion sizing and great value as far as pricing goes are what brings me time and time again, but the fact that it's actually really good food is a major bonus! My tri tip dip was absolutely mouthwatering and the grilled onions and mushrooms were perfect. Of course we will be back!

My daughters and I have recently tried this place and it does not disappoint. They have wonderful steak and their potatoes are cooked to perfection. My girls enjoy the pancakes and the French toast. Daisy , Caddy and Cain have amazing customer service. We have been here 4 times and we will continue to come.

Free birthday breakfast! I paid for coffee and added potatoes. Prices are great. Customer service is awesome. Nice clean bathrooms.

Some of our longtime favorites there were the chili, chili spaghetti, French dip, and chicken fried steak, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. The chili spaghetti recipe has clearly changed. The flavor now feels very bland and lifeless compared to before. I also ordered the French dip and the meat was dry and tough. Overall, the food quality just doesn't seem to match what this café was previously known for. It also feels like the restaurant is moving away from its original café identity and shifting toward more of a Hispanic/Latin-style menu. Nothing wrong with that direction if done well, but longtime customers like us who enjoyed the original menu and flavors we're very much you kidding me running too fast disappointed by the changes. Based on our experience with two dishes that used to be favorites of ours, we honestly have no desire to come back and try the other items we once enjoyed, including the chicken fried steak. The experience left us expecting that many of the other recipes have likely changed as well, and that the same flavor and quality we used to love is no longer there. Lastly, prices have increased and the environment felt very dead which adds to the disappointment.

It's been here for about that long, too, so I am sorry I missed it in the past. This is a family-run place and I am pretty certain the woman who greeted us at the door is one of the owners. We had a reservation and were able to sit at a comfortable booth, as we were a group. The entire time we were there, I was looking around at all the vintage details they have placed in every inch of this place to give you the feeling that you are in a '50s roadside diner. The menu reflects that too. As someone who grew up on the East Coast where diners were on every corner, I appreciated this quick trip down memory lane. The service was very good. We came at an in-between time deliberately because Rte. 66 fills up at the most popular times. When we arrived, entertainment was just wrapping up and it seems they have a variety of talents on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays -- a nice perk. There is a huge parking lot so that's easy. You can sit outside or in, but in is the place to be in my opinion. Our server, Steven, was very helpful. In fact, he apologized that the floor was not spotless because a large group had literally just left and (I am assuming), a bunch of kids made quite a mess (hey parents, where were you?). They tried to tidy up without disturbing us. Everyone working there is super friendly as befits this place. The menu is vast and the food is good. It is very credible diner fare. I cannot remember the music but I think it was on -- we were too busy eating and talking to notice. The tab was very reasonable too. I would not change a thing. This is a genre spot and a very good one. Worth the trip, folks. I am sure we will be back.

It's not terrible, but I like a truly bold/dark roast, and most diners, including here, give you something that's much lighter in taste. I've had worse though/ As I mentioned, the portions are huge...I'm mentioning it again because they're just that big. My wife and son shared pancakes (which they couldn't finish...They were perfect. I had egg whites on top of hash browns. The egg whites were done well (not overcooked, as it's easy to do with egg whites), and I like their hash browns a lot. Add-ons are particularly expensive, and there isn't much flexibility for substitutions (say you don't eat meat and want potatoes instead) without just paying for an extra side of potatoes. So relative to other similar restaurants, this was a more expensive experience...but good in terms of a basic diner experience.

What impressed me even more was that the other staff members were just as kind and made a point to check on us throughout our meal. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere is beautiful, warm, and inviting. I also absolutely loved how dog friendly they are! Our dog was welcomed and even given her own healthy treat, which was such a sweet and thoughtful touch. It's rare to find a place that can be busy and still make you feel so personally welcomed. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, wonderful service, and genuinely kind people. Melissa especially made our visit memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Egg Plantation!

It seemed as though there were about 10-12 tables inside, and all the employees work with one another to wait on the tables. We showed up around 10:45am on a Saturday morning, and to our surprise there was no wait. We were sat immediately and ordered a cappuccino and Arnold Palmer to drink. Then, I ordered the Salmon Benny with home potatoes, while my partner ordered the Churro waffle combo. It did take about half an hour to get our food, but it was well worth how fresh everything tasted. My salmon benny came on an everything bagel with cream cheese, and the salmon was served cold (in a delicious/ good way, not like it was frozen. I just wanted to make a note of this because usually when eating a salmon benedict the salmon gets warm from the temperature of the english muffin and egg). Then, the home potatoes had onions, and bell peppers and I kept commenting on how fresh the bell peppers tasted. My partner had the churro waffle with eggs, sausage and bacon. They really nailed the churro flavor of the waffle. Both our plates were completely devoured with no leftovers to take home. For our two drinks, two entrees (and the added combo to the churro waffle) it ended up being $53, which we found to be extremely reasonable for the quality, portion size, and service provided. The only thing I would mention was the parking lot gets a little crowded. They share a parking lot with the other stores in the plaza, and there were several spots open only because there were a lot of bigger cars who were over the line. No fault to the restaurant itself, just something to be aware of.

Only bad thing was the service was actually quite bad. We were hardly checked on and had to get up 2 times to ask for things! Other than that we will always love the homey vibe of this place!
