Excellent service and delicious food. Started with a phone call to see if they serve eggs Benedict during dinner. Their phone was answered by Jessie with a pleasant and friendly voice. We could hear her smile over the phone. When we walked in to the restaurant, we were greeted immediately by Tyra behind the counter. He seated us and immediately took our drink order. Soon after, our server, Mariyah, came to our table, introduced herself and brought us our drinks. We ordered our food and didn't wait long for it to be brought to our table. Mariyah checked on us several times to see if we needed anything and to make sure we were happy with everything. My husband loved the eggs Benedict and hash browns. The blackened Cajun salmon I ordered was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes with country gravy were delicious. I highly recommend dining here. If we're possible to leave a one star review I would. This was my second attempt to eat at this awful restaurant and it was worse than the first time. Friday night special was fried fish and it was so hard you couldn't cut it. French fries were cold and soggy and my GF had a hamburger patty that was so dry nothing could save it. Wow!!! That is all I can say!!! I'm incredibly impressed with the whole experience!!! I've been to a lot of restaurants and the service here by Mariah was 10/10!!! She treated me like a king. Besides the amazingly kind service and frequent water refills; the food here is fantastic!!! Compliments to the chef!! I had the red white and blue pancakes and some onion rings. The pancakes are the best I've ever tasted and the onion rings were superb!! Portions here are gigantic!! No skimping servings to be found here. Delicious!!! Finally the restaurant was super clean and quiet!! The waiters especially Mariah were doing a phenomenal job of ensuring the lobby is in excellent condition and ready for you when you enter. Large parking lot. Wait time quoted was pretty accurate. Came here 12/26 for a late breakfast with my parents. Food was mostly good with large portions. My side if grits were kinda blah but the bacon on top was good and I really enjoyed my chicken & waffle. Dad said his hash was ok. Mom really enjoyed her Parmesan sourdough cheeseburger. The way it looked when it came out I thought it was going to be the best burger I've had in a year but it was a huge disappointment. We had a large party and everyone else had food / portions that I would expect...but for some reason my corned beef hash and eggs was short on corned beef and hash...was small portion for a regular restaurant! We got the Blackberry Bear Claw (French toast version) at the recommendation of our server and it did not disappoint! Very decadent and sweet. We (my mother my 7 month old son and I) went to have breakfast there yesterday Oct. 29, 2024 the place was not that full, though we had to chase down our waitress, I asked her for a spoon 4 different times, it never came. When she would pass by the table she would ask "is everything okay" but as she talked she kept walking, we never had a chance to answer because by the time she finished her sentence she was out of sight. We've been here a couple times after church on Sunday and even though it's always crazy busy the service is good and the food comes in a timely manner. Everything we've tried has been tasty, especially the cinnamon roll french toast. My only complaint is that I wish they had told us how big the full order of biscuits and gravy was when we ordered it. It was big enough for my whole family to share had we known how big the biscuits are. We're from the south and not used to how ridiculously big all the biscuits are around here. And when the food came out we were certainly weren't impressed with the portion size. They try to fool the customer by serving on large plates but most of the plate's "real estate" is filled with garnishes and a bowl of whatever side item you ordered. The food itself was average. We hardly saw our server until it was time to bring the bill. Overall, this place is very overhyped. There are quite a few better places to eat in the area. In towns like Yuma it's nice to have a reliable dining option with many food options available. This was a lunch stop but their full menu is available all day. - My Gobbler on sourdough was excellent with fresh turkey breast, stuffing, and cranberries. - Machaca was clean with fresh colorful peppers. The only issue was that it needed more spice. - Kids steak was a meal, but the steak was on the cheaper side. The service is reportedly bad here and I can verify that it needs a lot of work. The highlight was when two waitresses had a verbal fight over a coffee carafe. It's like a fight you'd see on Hell's Kitchen or any other reality show. Only in Yuma I guess! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on way Tucson. 2nd time eating here. 630am -730am is the sweet spot for quick seating. Not crowded at this time. Great decor and atmosphere. Love the bear theme. Yikes, i previously had a negative experience here a few weeks ago but it seemed to be because they were understaffed and had a little bit of a rush. This time I decided to get takeout. I ordered two of their Cobb salad's and their brisket meal. The service and everything was great they got the food out quickly everybody was very friendly otherwise it was a really good experience. That is until we got home and we began eating. About halfway through our salads my wife noticed that there was a long string in her salad. As such it was really upsetting we spent roughly $50 on a couple of salads and a single meal and ended up with contaminated food. On our way to California, we made a pit-stop in Yuma for lunch. We wanted a casual diner to get some food and go. Initially we were going to stop at Denny's but they were so crowded (and didn't seem to be worth the wait) so we decided to check out Black Bear Diner! Just from the outside, you can tell how cute it is! This is a cabin themed diner that feels very welcoming and homey. The hostess was very sweet and we were able to get seated quickly (despite having a party of 8!) They have a cute little gift shop in the front with mugs, stuffed bears, and t-shirts. There is also a stop-shop in the front where you can order-to-go or pick up some fresh pies. The menu is VERY large and they serve breakfast all-day (I love all things breakfast). I was happy to discover they also have gluten-free options. They have a gluten-free balsamic and bread that can be used to substitute any biscuit or bun! Having that option definitely makes it easier during road trips! I ordered the classic 2-egg combo with thick-cut smoked bacon, red potatoes, and a gluten-free bun to replace the biscuit! My brother-in-law got the BBQ burger which was rich and juicy! The bun was soft and buttery. My dad ordered the turkey club, it was seasoned nicely with the sauce and once again the bread was soft (not toasted or crunchy). Overall the food was good and you could tell it was all homemade. We ordered two kids meals: the chicken strips and chocolate chip pancakes. I couldn't really get a description from a 4 and 7 year old other than "good!"--but they seemed to enjoy it! This is my second time here since my first visit to Yuma a week ago - I loved it so much we drove three hours to stay here again JUST to eat here. Today we were greeted with a smile and after a very short wait, we were seated with a smile too. The portions are huge and everything is absolutely delicious. The service is great too. It's a little hot for some reason and the light over our booth was a bit too bright for my tired eyes but those things don't change how I feel about this place! It's really sad that this restaurant in Yuma has gone hill so much! When it first opened it was wonderful, but the last few years it has been terrible, and worse than cafeteria food! Black Bear is famous for their large portions, but they have cut them in half of what they used to be, specifically the turkey dinner we maybe had about 1 and half thin slice of pressed turkey and only about 1/3 of a cup of mashed potatoes when they used to cover almost half the plate with potatoes and gravy, I had to ask for more gravy now! I asked the waitress about it, and they said the new manager told everyone to cut the portions drastically even though they have raised the prices quite a lot. It's too bad because I've been to other restaurants out of town and they still are doing it right! The cooks don't care about making food good anymore. :( read more

First time here with my Mother and wife; we were all very impressed. The food was delicious and the service was awesome! I had the chicken parmesan, my wife enjoyed a chicken pot pie and my mom had the fish and chips. All meals were delicious.
