When I asked how much longer it would be for my food, instead of her answering my question. She replied to me and asked me to move to the side and proceeded to state you placed at 12:16 . Not only was it great to patronize a black owned business.I was especially impressed that the business had a a site in the black community and one in legacy village I called my order in at 3pm. It was to be ready for pickup at 530pm- 540pm. I got there at 540pm. The order had not been finished. They didn't even have the order. I waited until 630 on my food. The food was just ok. Expensive for just a sandwich.it was squished in the bun, over salted and overall nothing I need to eat again. Too bad. So sad. I was so looking forward to eating that sandwich. read more

Ambiance: This place has a very modern minimalist vibe with tall ceilings and scant furniture. There is one TV mounted by the counter but otherwise the place isn't designed for prolonged lounging. The place was filled with door dash drivers when we went so we were the only ones eating in which was a little awkward. The staff were very friendly however and helped us pick out our meals. They don't have tap water so you'll have to get a canned or bottled beverage if you're thirsty. Food took approximately 20 minutes and came out piping hot. Food: We got the legacy cheesesteak and fried chicken sandwich which were both enjoyable. We'd definitely recommend getting the double chicken breast as the single was pounded fairly thin which threw off the proportions with the bun, tomatoes and lettuce. The thin fillet also made it prone to drying from the fry. That said, the breading itself was not to oily and had a very satisfying crunch. The better of the two, by far, was the cheesesteak which was cooked to perfection. The meat had nice caramelization and was both moist and tender. The cheese was very generous and well-melted with the cajun sauce that added more dimension to the sandwich. The French loaf bun was decent, a little dense and bland but otherwise an acceptable vehicle for cheesy meat to your face. The side of fries should be more than enough for any reasonably hungry person and come in a variety of seasonings. Ours were crispy, minimally oily, and expertly seasoned which is a win. One of my complaints is that, despite the liberal use of cajun, chipotle, and sriracha through the menu, nothing we had was remotely spicy. Overall we were glad we tried Black Box Fix. This place does blow certain sandwich places like Dibellas out of the water although I'd say the sandwiches at Lox Stock and at the Ohio Galley give this place some serious competition. If you're looking to upgrade your sub shop and aren't on a fancy date , this may be a place worth checking out. read more

They accommodated to my picky taste by allowing me to get 2 bacon cheeseburger sliders with fries for $10. Along with their service, the taste was 5 stars. Absolutely delicious!!! I expected bold flavor and seasoned to perfection, but I had to add ketchup just to bring it alive for both sandwich and fries. They shouldn't need anything but a napkin and a nap after. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but just not what I expected. But the street corn is definitely a win. It is very delicious and would order again. The portions are pretty large and can feed 2-3 or a nice amount of leftovers. Reheating in the oven will leave a pool of grease swimming at the bottom of the pan and it wasn't very good day 2. I didn't even know this little gem existed until I stumbled upon it in a Google search to find something different to eat. It doesn't look like much when you walk in, but everything on the menu sounds amazing. I ordered the Railroader burger and garlic parmesan fries, and both were delicious. The portions are pretty big, and I ended up taking half of my meal home. The food arrives, as the name suggests, in a black styrofoam box. The restaurant was clean and the workers were all friendly and helpful. My only complaints were the seating and the wait time. There are only a few tables, so unless you arrive at just the right time, there may not be anywhere to sit. Our food took about 20 minutes to arrive, and we were told it would take that long when we ordered. It didn't seem like a reasonable amount of time at first, but after sitting there for a few minutes, it made more sense. There was a ton of traffic in and out of the restaurant, and it seems like the majority of their sales are in take out orders. I ordered the Railroad Burger with Parmesan Fries and it was fantastic. A bit greasy, but you aren't going to a burger joint for the health benefits. I visited Black Box for lunch on a work day with some friends and I should have done a bit more research. They have little to no seating (3 or 4 small tables and a bench). It seems they mostly do Uber eats and carry out orders. I opted to order to-go and it took 45 minutes to get my food at 11:30 on a Thursday. Absolutely delicious! I love the size of the menu, the perfect amount of options without being overwhelming. We got take out and ordered the hibachi burger and the railroader burger, medium. It was cooked perfectly and both burgers were very flavorful. I especially loved the green pepper that was added to the hibachi burger - great balance to all the flavors. They have a variety of different fries to choose from as your side, we had the garlic Parmesan fries which had real shredded Parmesan cheese melted on top, not the powered Parmesan most places use. The Railroader Burger from Black Box Fix is probably one of the most amazing burgers I have ever had. The sweet/savory-ness of the onion jam combined with the flavors of the smoked gouda cheese make an amazing burger. I would highly recommend, and I don't even like mushrooms, but you can't even taste them. However, quite let down by the fries that come with the burger. They tend to be quite soggy, and the cheese seems to just be thrown on cold. Overall the seasoning seems lacking, which is quite disappointing when you compare it with the burger. They are a little better when eaten fresh, but since I usually order to-go, by the time I eat them they are cold and I won't finish them. Also, not a huge fan of the Chicken Philly. I personally found it pretty dry, which makes it boring and difficult to eat after the first few bites. But hey, four stars because I will definitely be back for that burger again. read more

A coworker and I just dropped in for food to go during lunch time. First timers. The salmon blts were okay, the Cajun fries were okay, but the experience was not enjoyable. It took a while for the food (though there weren't many people in the store) and the staff was more concerned with bossing guests around ("stand over here, not there...I need the receipt before pickup, no not that receipt, the other one") than providing a good experience. The key to fully understand Black Box Fix is realize that BBF in not "fast food". As I read a number of the other reviews it is clear they were hoping to pay McDonald prices for Morton's quality. The truth, as is so often the case lies somewhere in between. The quality of the food is excellent. The blend of ingredients is intriguing. Prices are commensurate with that level. A by product of this level of food is an appropriate wait time. All in all we felt the prices were VERY fair. Would we like a few more tables? Sure! Regardless we're going back...soon. This cozy eatery located in Legacy village will soon become my weekly routine. I call it my Philly Creole Sammie Cuisine. For my initial visit, I purchased the Shrimp Philly with Cajun fries. The sandwich was delicious and I could barely eat it all (didn't waste 1 crumb). The fries were a bit spicy for me but none went to waste either. I suggest dining I'm rather taking the food to go. Lovely place! Black owned and operated, which makes me proud. The decor is simple, modern, clean and easy to navigate. Most people get their food to go, but we sat down at one of the several seats they had. The staff is friendly and you can damn-near see right into the kitchen to watch the chefs work. I ordered the "OMG Philly", which is chicken, cheese, shrimp, some amazing sauce and several other amazing ingredients. It comes with parmesan fries, which weren't very parmesan-y in my opinion, but that sandwich... it was freaking awesome, filling as well. We stopped in for a late lunch after a doctors appointment. I had seen the reviews and wanted to check it out. We placed our order and were seated. We decided to eat in, because we had a long drive and didn't want the food to be cold. I ordered the Railroader burger and husband got shrimp and lobster roll. We waited about 10 minutes before the food came out. It was delicious! My burger was probably one of the top 10 burgers in my life. I think it would be next level with some crispy fried onions on top, but it was still amazing. I got plain fries and they were so good! They reminded me of fair fries (like the county fair). Husband said his shrimp and lobster roll was awesome. He also got garlic Parmesan fries and they were so good. I would absolutely give 5 stars for the food. I took off one star and it kills me, because this place deserves all the business. However, the booth seating is awkwardly high, and that's literally the only issue i had.
