My experience on 2019-02-04: * Rescheduled once (issue on their end) * Was here well in time for rescheduled appointment (about 10 minutes early) * Service techs (2) polite, respectful of premises * Clear communication: Was quick to ask what the issue was; listened to issue backstory; explained what they thought was the issue, but made no false promises--informed me that if it turned out they were wrong, the follow-up visit would not be charged and considered part of the same service call; when accepting payment, clarified step-by-step what he was doing with my credit card * Service took about 20 minutes, if that * Seemed honest; did not try to sell me on bogus repairs or part replacements * Had no issue answering questions not related to this particular service call Overall: Very satisfied. I always have our AC unit checked before the summer heat. I saw the many great reviews here and made an appointment. The technician arrived on time in the scheduled time frame. He checked the outside unit for maybe 10 minutes and then came inside for maybe two minutes and said everything looked good. I asked if he was going to check the unit in the attic and he said they only check that in the fall. The charge was $79 for about a 15 minute visit. Of course I have been receiving many AC tune up/check up offers in the mail for anywhere from $39-49. This is the first tune up I have ever had where the inside unit was not checked. Why does Black Mountain charge almost double for their tune ups? I'm not sure because my email I sent them on May 12th was never returned with an answer. read more

Hands down the best service. We recently experienced like most a failed AC just as the temps peaked triple digits. The great news, Black Mountain responded with true professionalism and amazing customer care. As we've found by simple conversation, many folks like ourselves have gone the route of paying monthly fees for what we thought "home warranty services"... surprise, not only did we get stiffed by the home warranty service, we were also questioned weather we tampered with our now broken unit by local services on contract by home warranty. How anyone living in Southern Nevada could straight face ask if we knew if our AC was working after last years insane temps is a complete moron and should be retrained. My upstairs unit decided to stop blowing cold air during a heat advisory, so I called Black Mountain Air and they were able to send a technician out the same day, which was a big relief. The technician texted when he was 10 mins out, was friendly and knowledgeable and fixed the problem within an hour. While there was a miscommunication on the installation of a part, the office staff and manager used it as a training opportunity for their team, while continuing to provide top notch customer service to me and my family. The actual installation is very new, so I can't really address the quality of the product. However, I can tell you they did what they said they'd do. A split installation with the amount of equipment that was required in the attic is a big deal. These guys worked continuously until the job was done. 6 hours and they were out. And for the life of me I have no idea how they moved that much equipment without damaging something. But all was well. That was impressive. I can't post this without giving you the rest of the story. I will not name the MAJOR company that came out to "repair" my original unit. Suffice to say I was charged $900 for 2 $20 capacitors and a rewire job. Then then I was told that I needed a new AC unit. But if I'd go with this company they'd take the $900 off of the price of a new unit. Well, their cheapest unit was significantly more expensive than the one Black Mountain Air installed AND it offered only half of the warranty. So, before you go with a company that appears to be the biggest, make sure you do your homework and get a few estimates. So far, Black Mountain has been great. read more

I was originally given a quote to fix a component on both of my AC units by another company that found the issue while doing an annual check up. Given that the estimate was more than $1000, I decided to call around to get a second opinion. I reached out to Black Mountain Air via Yelp during the Thanksgiving holiday week and immediately received a response. They also called me the following Monday to follow up and to offer their services. Luckily I was able to get an appointment a day later. I worked with Technician Robert. He was very polite and even noticed that we didn't wear shoes in the house and put on covers without being asked. Robert was easy to talk with and worked quick and efficiently. Even better news was finding out that the components that allegedly needed to be replaced are still in good condition and definitely has a lot of life left in them. Before leaving, my wife brought up another concern with our heating unit. Robert happily offered to take a look at it while he was there and we opted for a tune up anyway. This year, we finally decided it was time to replace our 24 year old units. Black Mountain Air did not come in at the lowest price, but their quote was reasonable and we trust their work. I called an air-conditioning repair company for a noisy clank and grinding sound coming from my outside a/c unit in our house we just moved into. It is an older unit, from 2002 I was told. It also uses the R22 refrigerant that is being phased out. That company told me I would need a completely new compressor and it would be better in the long run to just get a new unit due to age and R22. No repairs were made that day, and the technician set up a time for his supervisor to come out and discuss the cost of new units. Because of the cost associated with new a/c units, I called two other companies to find out if they also had the same opinion and to get possible quotes from them. One of those was Black Mountain Air. They were extremely nice on the phone when I called to schedule late on a Friday afternoon and they were able to get me in Monday morning. Since it wasn't an emergency and my unit was still cooling the house, I was perfectly okay with this schedule. I immediately received a text message confirming my appointment. When my technician, Robert, was on the way, he sent me a text letting me know, and arrived within 15-30 minutes after that. I explained the issue and Robert went right to work diagnosing the problem. He came back and explained what he thought was the cause and that he could order a new part, but also thought he could fix the issue without the need for a new part. He also then mentioned that the refrigerant was down only about a pound, recommended filling it and quoted me the price. He said usually a/c units don't need refrigerant added, and recommended setting up a tune-up for the fall to have the technician make sure the refrigerant was at the same level, otherwise there might be a leak, but wanted to fill first and if necessary fix later. He said he also noticed my secondary drip line had water coming out and he thought there was maybe a plug in the primary line. For less than $200 my a/c unit is no longer making the noise, my refrigerant has been added, and my drip line has been cleared. I will definitely be a repeat customer and will be setting up a maintenance plan and with Black Mountain Air. I appreciate the honesty, and the willingness to fix the issue rather than sell me a new unit I don't need at this time. My air conditioner failed on a Thursday at 6:30 p.m. It was a record setting hot day in June. My house quickly started heating up. I called Black Mountain Air after they'd closed so I was concerned if I'd get a response. I left a message and I was called back within an hour. At 7:00 a.m. there was a technician at my door and said I need a new air conditioner but it would be at least Sunday before I could get a new one. He was able to put a motor in my air conditioner and he charged me nothing. I had agreed to buy a new air conditioner. Considering it is a brutal hot summer I was really concerned I wouldn't be able to find someone to fix it soon. But, Sunday morning, first thing, they came to my home and got a new air conditioner in a little over 2 hours. Which I thought was outstanding. Them people I talked to were all professional and helpful and answered all my questions. And the price was considerably less than I thought it would be. The technician said my power bill should be about 40% less than it was. I was very happy. read more

I had NV Energy come out to install one of their smart thermostats. The guy who came out told me my AC system wasn't functioning properly and needed some maintenance before he could install the thermostat. I was a bit wary since I just purchased the house and it did not come up as in issue in my home inspection. Nevertheless, we are coming into AC season so I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to have someone come out and have a look. After seeing all the good reviews here on yelp! Our air conditioning unit was starting and stopping all the time. Had another company look at it, they said the compressor needed to be replaced: $2.700, they suggested it would even be better to replace the whole unit: $4.522. As the unit is only 6 years old and I heard some weird stories about amps and gas, I decided to get a second opinion from Black Mountain Air. Their technician was very professional and honest. The compressor was just fine, there was no need to replace it at all. The only thing that had to be replaced was the capacitor: $229 for parts and labour.
