We have been going to this restaurant for about 20 yrs while camping in the area. Something changed this summer, we got a new waitress. Jenny o, she was very rude and short with us when asking questions about the menu and bill. If she can't handle a few questions from customers then she is in the wrong business. This is the 2nd time we had this waitress and not impressed. She actually f* @" bombed my brother in law to other employees and was over heard by people in our party leaving. I have visited this place 5 times now for lunch as there are very few other options in the area I was working in. This is what ive experianced every single time: If the food is good the serivce is horrible..........I mean really horrible like having to ask for a drink refil 2-3 times before getting it. Waiting 10 minutes before someone even comes over to ask what I would like to drink. Asking for ketchup and not ever getting it. But sometimes when the service is amazing as in drink refil before I ever ask for it etc. The food is then horrible. I have had the worst chicken sandwich I have ever eaten at this place but that particular day the service was the best ive had. Overall I would not recomend this place to anyone as it has inconsistant service and food. For what you get it is way too overpriced. By overpriced this is what I mean: Coke= $2.50 Side order of Onion rings=$4.50 (which is not a regular side with a sandwich) I order mainly a basic sandwich and fries with a drink and its generally about 16-22 dollars. read more

We had the zesty sausage dip for an appetizer. Very yummy! Would have been enough for a meal. I had the French dip and my friend had the Philly cheese steak quesadilla. Lots of food and well prepared. I have Celiacs and our waitress was very knowledgeable about what I could eat, and checked with the chef when she wasn't sure. She was great -- friendly and attentive. Been going for 3 years after discovering it on a road trip, driving around the lake front one day. I've only gone on weekends and that has exclusively been lunches and typically right after the normal lunch hour. For a while everything seemed to have been made from scratch but the burger rolls/bread definitely weren't last time I went. Even when it's mostly empty the service is slow, but I'm in no rush so I'm 100% OK with the slower pace. The food has always been from very good to excellent and the serving sizes are anywhere from big to enormous. I've brought a number of people with me on various visits and I've always heard afterwards they went back on other occasions. So the staff are clearly doing something right in my experience. With the shoreline, pier and lighthouse next door, Orleans County Marine Park a half mile down the street and Oak Orchard Marine Park just on the other side of Oak Orchard Creek there are lots of places to walk around after a meal. And if you have a boat, you can always choose that as a way to get there instead of driving. read more

Years ago I had been here and wasn't impressed. Except for the location it wasn't worth the drive. HOWEVER, recently I have been twice and I must say I was impressed. Of course the location is fantastic. Love their patio, more like a 3 season porch. Great views from almost every where. Lots of people watching too! On one visit it was a rainy day and the the place wasn't crowded. Our waitress was a very nice and friendly younger lady. A steak, two different burgers and the scallops were had at our table. Everyone was very pleased with the food. I personally had the seared scallops and the were cooked very nicely and had great flavor. One person in our party had the Bella Burger and made the comment that if he wasn't already married he would marry the burger. On our second visit I had the onion soup, which had great flavor with a ton of onions. Also the crab cakes which was full of crab meat coated with panko crumbs. The cajun remoulade sauce that it was served with was delicious. Again burgers were had and I got to steal a bite from my husband and it was great. My brother in law had the mile high turkey dinner, not only was it very good but it was enough food to feed three people. This visit we also had great service from a friendly waitress. read more

Beautiful setting with a marina and Lake Ontario visible from the enclosed outside dining veranda.Friendly staff and small but diverse menu printed on plain white sheets of printer paper.The menu has several appetizers to start you off.It was a Monday evening so no steamed clams available until Thursday.We got an order of 6 chicken wings which were cooked exactly as ordered and the medium Buffalo sauce was perfect.I noticed several other guests nearby had ordered classic fish fry dinners.They looked great and were huge.I opted for the fish sandwich witg homemade potato chips.The sandwich was enormous.I took half home.My fish had a great crispy breading and came with tomato slices and melted cheese.My friend ordered the Spring salsd with grilled chicken and a side backed potato.The salad was large and enough for two people.The restaurant has a nice selection of draft beers and lots of appeal for locals and visiting boaters.It is a beautiful ride along the shore of Lake Ontario using the Parkway.If you are in the mood for a drive and some dinner,give it a try. read more

Food was good and staff was friendly. I was glad to see everyone working still wearing a mask especially since we have two small children that cannot yet be vaccinated and when working with food. We ended up here because we are from the Rochester area and wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary by taking a drive to feel like we were "getting away" but only had a few hours in the evening. We had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was a very friendly, attentive and casual--just our style. We ordered apps of lobster bisque and Key West shrimp. Both are delicious! The bisque was creamy and tasty without being too rich. For entrees we ordered the Reef & Beef and Saratoga Salmon. Again, delicious and cooked perfectly to what we asked. The variety on the menu is a great mix of traditional and some trends, which makes it perfect for a group of varying tastes. The chef and kitchen staff are spot on at this place. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the cool little marina park across the street. Pre dinner we brought a cocktail of our own and sat at the picnic table enjoying the view and reminiscing about past anniversaries. After dinner we went back out to the rock pier and watched the beautiful sunset on the lake. A perfect evening to celebrate our special day. We will be back! Moving to the area a few years ago, my husband and I were​ pleasantly​ surprised to find this little gem just down the road. It is not a fine dining establishment and doesn't claim to be. They are a tavern and bar, that is exactly as it appears. The staff is always friendly and courteous​. The food is delicious. Excellent​ wings and pizza, as well as fish fries and burgers. They also have a variety of other menu items that we have tried over the last few years and​ we have enjoyed each and every one. The atmosphere is cozy, with a woodburning fire in the wintertime. The bar is always lively but not too noisy​ for those sitting at the nearby tables. The porch is a pleasant spot to have lunch in the summers. Located​ right on​ the Oak Orchard River, it has lovely views of water and sunsets in the summer. A perfect spot to relax and have some good food after a day of boating or fishing. read more

Great wings, slow service. Frustrating after a long day of reelin' in salmon and you are starving.

We ended up here on one of our afternoon outings. We had the giant pretzel and beer batter fish-fry. The view is lovely, the service - very good and the food - awesome. We were lucky enough to discover this gem during their slow season. Reservations are recommended and taken every day EXCEPT Fridays during the tourist season. We have been going to the Black North for a number of years and have always been pleased until now. We went there for dinner and had fish fries. As we were waiting another table was loudly complaining about their meal and the poor waitress was upset. When out meals arrived they were bad. The fish was swimming in oil and fries were pretty bad also. We didn't have the heart to complain but we should have because later that evening we were all sick. the soft drinks tasted like the lines hadn't been cleaned in a long time just don't have anything good to say about this meal . We have frequented the Black North Inn often while out on motorcycle rides. Food has always been very good. Unfortunately, this past Friday I ordered the crab cakes. They didn't taste bad, and I think I even commented that they were tasty. However, by the time I got home, I was violently ill. Food poisoning is the culprit I'm sure..Not sure if it was the crab or the ingredients included to make those crab cakes. Hopefully, it was just my dumb luck to get a bad batch. We will definitely be back; I will just be a little more selective of my food choice. read more

$ of us stopped for dinner. It is the only restaurant in the area but it looked fine from the outside. ALL of our food (seafood & steaks were over cooked. I ordered a steak medium rare and specified "pink in the middle". It was VERY well done when it arrived. After asking for another steak the 2nd one was only slightly less done. Our baked potatoes were over cooked and tasted old. The service was very good. Maybe the chefs night off? read more
