WHEN ANYONE TELLS ME THEY ARE GOING TO NASHVILLE I am GOING TO SAY DONT GO TO THE BLACK RABBIT. This is not a place that cares about their customers. My boyfriend is detailed oriented especially when it comes to our vacation. We knew that a lot of places in general were usually close Sunday and Monday. So he did a lot of research and made a reservation 2 weeks back for Monday Labor Day September 3rd. Sunday September 2nd we got a text saying to confirm our reservation for Monday Labor Day September 3rd. We did. 30 minutes before our meal we received another text reminding us if our reservation. We didn't need to be reminded as we got done with our adventures at 630 and we're ravenous. We didn't want to spoil our appetite, so we waited and one hour to 45 minutes later they were closed. Now someone drop the ball in trying to streamline their reservations, and accepted the resy reservation, probably decide a week later to close for the day, and forget to close the date.( When we were researching their were plenty of restaurants that out close for Labor Day.) It's hard for me to phantom that we would be the only ones that made a reservation the whole day. Nonetheless it was sheer carelessness. We scrambled to find something else foodies like us would eat and made out ok. But we called the owner and it's been 24 hours and no one cares to call back out of towners. I work hard for my money to spend on vacation, and so do list folks. Wouldn't you want to go somewhere that has southern hospitality? read more

After a failed attempt to go to Gray and Dudley we headed over to Black Rabbit. Black Rabbit is so cute! It's the perfect place to relax and have a few cocktails, not to mention, they are baby-friendly during happy hour! I wouldn't suggest bringing a mobile baby, but a small baby in a car seat is kosher. We slid into a booth with the car seat and he slept away. The decor is library, like in Clue. The room is long, but it doesn't offer a ton of seating. The cocktails are tasty and they offer a mix of old school and remixed versions of the classics. The oysters were satisfying. They offered some happy hour deals, one of which was a Manhattan at a very reasonable price. It was a successful visit and I will definitely go back. This is a hidden gem that sparkles when it comes to food. We randomly stopped in for the happy hour (which were phenomenal craft cocktails - the old fashioned was perfect! and $5) and ordered the Rabbit Bolognese - it was spectacular! Went here on a Saturday night and caught the tail end of happy hour ($5 margaritas!). We ordered a few different small plates including the rabbit ravioli which was delicious. I accidentally left my bag behind and the staff here went above and beyond to get it back to me. They are typically closed on Sun/Mon but one of the chefs came to the restaurant on their day off to give me back my bag before I left town! Food was good but the service is fantastic. Black Rabbit is a hidden Gem in between Printers Alley and tucked beside/behind 21C hotel. They serve small plates and have a seasonal menu. They have amazing craft cocktails and salsa dancing!! We had just eaten, so we didn't try any food, but I had a tasty cocktail and my husband tried their old Fashioned that's aged and it was tasty but very strong. I hope to return soon and try some of those tasty sounding dishes! read more

If you haven't tried this place out yet I highly recommend it. I went on Saturday not knowing it was about to be a night I wouldn't forget. The atmosphere is very swanky, a place you might see men smoking cigars. I felt like I was in the great gatspy. The willies were playing that night. They were very talented and fun. One of the most entertaining bands Iv seen in a long time. We ordered almost everything on the menu except the chicken because they sold out. I'll have to try that chicken sometime it's made with a house Bloody Mary mix. The servers were very helpful and patient explaining the menu a few times in loud conditions. The throwback band from 50's & 60's complete with beehive hair, kimonos, along with excellent musicianship (loved the bass sax) set the mood. Super variety of people. I used to live in Nashville in the early 2000's so when i come back, I love to check out all the new "up and coming" spots (since I've moved). What an awesome place to grab cocktails on the "outside" of the hustle and bustle of Broadway. If you're wanting a quant and cozy atmosphere- try this place. Their craft cocktails were a win!!! We came here before heading to Skull for dinner...another win win in my opinion. Review is strictly based on cocktails, service and atmosphere. My boyfriend and I tried to order a couple drinks at around 9 PM after a great dinner at Jane's Hideaway. They thought my boyfriend's ID was fake even though he had multiple ID's to show and he's 24. Went in and sat at the bar. Smaller place, would recommend calling for a reservation or ahead of you want a table. This place is low key, great live music and away from the hustle of Broadway. Oh boy. First off, reservations must be secured with a credit card and $10 charge for no-show. Which I can kinda understand, but if you gonna play then you better serve up the goods, ya know? And when we got there, like 5 minutes before our reservation, we still had to wait at the bar for like 20 minutes! So, lame. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Not too loud, and there are some nice little intimate tables. The lighting is nice and the decor is pleasing (There are too many "cocktail" tables with the barstools with no backrest though. Just my opinion!) But!!!! The food was very mediocre! The rabbit rolls were pretty good, but everything else was entirely milquetoast. We also got the beet salad, the charred vegetables and the pierogies (beware--there are only THREE small pierogies per order!!). My husband got the burger too and was very disappointed. Not god awful, but overdone with a dry bun and underwhelming presentation. Potatoes needed more salt and flavor. Hummingbird cake and brownie desserts were fine. Just fine. Service left something to be desired. Not terrible, not great. Never got our water pitcher filled over the course of an hour and a half. The drinks were p good. Might be worth coming here for drinks and atmosphere if you've already had dinner. All in all, mediocre. Not really worth the price. Won't revisit. read more

Never in my life have I left a restaurant more hungry leaving, than when I came in. Tapas sounded great, we thought. The place was cute, atmosphere was laid back and modern. Our server was nice and explained the menu. I didn't like the fact that the menu ONLY lists ingredients but it doesn't tell you the set up of the plate. How do I know what I'm going to get? So we ordered the tacos ($10). And about 35 minutes later they finally came. I have never seen tacos so small. The 3 "tortillas" were 1 inch in diameter!! Why it took so long to cook only a small handful veggies is beyond me. I'm glad we didn't order any meat dishes or we'd still be waiting for it. Would not visit again, sorry. read more

I really really wanted to like this place. When they first opened, all the reviews made me think of the Black Rabbit as this magical cocktail bar off printers alley with the most amazing drinks in town. Well, one Friday night we were on our way to a show at the Ryman and decided to stop by for a drink prior to the show. We were both just "meh.." about the overall experience. The vibe of the bar is very cool and dark but it seems like they could be trying too hard. Some of the art makes the bar seem dingy-er than it is. They had some decent music and a live fire going and we sat down on the couch to order our drinks. I chalked the prices of their cocktails up to being better than anywhere else in town. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case. It' was $3-5 more expensive than most cocktails in town + the exorbitant downtown liquor tax for sub-par to okay cocktails. I had the "Lost in Hells Kitchen" which was just not very flavorful. I really wanted it to be the layered mix of rum, coffee, cherry, etc. it seemed to promise but it didn't wow as much as some of the other drinks in town form Inglewood Lounge or Attaboy have. Pros: Dark, moody setting is a solid setting for a cocktail bar. Cons: Prices, quality of drinks Overall: Amazing potential but had a weird, dingy vibe and less than top quality cocktails, which you expect for the prices. read more

Stopped here after a burlesque show at Skull's Rainbow Room and really enjoyed it! The atmosphere/ambiance was lovely and the service was great. I enjoyed that I couldn't see a TV in sight and my party of 4 ended up playing cards and truly setting our devices aside. It was nice to have everyone's full attention for once. We didn't try the food but we did sample some of the specialty cocktails and the wines on the drink menu and we left very happy. An amazing cocktail bar. I had three drinks. I started with the Mezcal Old Fashioned, and it was delicious. It was clear (a bit odd for an old fashioned), but it had the smokey mezcal flavor, a very slight hint of citrus. I then had a sazorac, which was also tasty with the perfect amount of anise flavor, sweet, but not too sweet. Finally I had Hoffa's inside job, which was also delicious. It was basically a hybrid between a Manhattan and an old fashioned. The luxardo cherry was wrapped in an orange peel. After three cocktails, we decided to eat. The highlight of dinner was the pork belly. It was so amazing. Unlike most pork belly it was NOT chewy, but instead almost melted in my mouth. It had the perfect crispy shell on the outside. Truely perfectly cooked. The barbacoa tacos we're also delicious, and the meat was almost as tender and flavorful as the pork belly. The meat flavor dominated the tacos, but that was not a bad thing. The rabbit rolls we're also tasty. The meat had a bit of a sweet BBQ sauce flavor to them and the bread was almost chewy. I liked it. Overall impression, great service, amazing cocktails, and good food. I loved the pork belly, but I don't know if I'd come back to eat. However, I will be back for the cocktails. It might be my favorite cocktail bar in Nashville, but I do love rosemary in East Nashville (similar drinks, but a bit cheaper and a lot livelier). She had an old-fashioned while I had a custom vodka cocktail made by the bartender. OMG! They were BOTH delicious cocktails. We were SO SO SO pleased. We ordered the rabbit rolls and the sourdough bread that's made in house with pickled vegetables. The rabbit rolls were delish. I highly recommend those. We sat in the bar area in the deep turquoise plush booth and had a great time catching up. Our waitress let us know that there is live piano/jazz music later in the evening and I can't wait to come back for another visit. read more
