Stumbled upon this place because I googled it for a coffeeshop near compton/long beach where I was working for the day! Not busy on weekdays at all. No line. I believe they are only a year old... Parking was easy. I accidently missed the lot near it and just parked on a side street which was a two minute walk. Cute cafe, cute vibe, clean atmosphere! I love how they have a Vinyl stand there! I could have supported Starbucks or Coffeebean, which I like better than Starbucks, but supporting personally owned businesses is something that resonates with me more! #support local The owner was very nice and was putting up with my chatty self :) Got the Nitro cold brew coffee and it was very good! And I had to get the 2 Vegan Dougnuts, strawberry sprinkle and taro. My boyfriend is not Vegan nor does he like Vegan stuff but he liked these ones! They were moist and not dry and not too sweet! I was told the owner makes the doughnuts! Yum! I also got $20 bag of coffee beans, Loma La Gloria, from El Salvidor. Very cool coffee shop in NLB that has very good coffee, an incredible vibe, and very knowledgeable staff! It's hard to spot in the surrounding area and isn't in a location where a lot of people will gravitate to, but if you love good coffee it's worth the adventure! I got a single origin cappuccino and was not disappointed, it was a Colombian SO and the flavors really cut through, I highly highly recommend this place! read more

Most reviews for Black Ring are about their drinks, which are good. I go there for the beans though since I mainly brew coffee at home. After driving to LA and Pasadena to buy beans or ordering on line I finally woke up and decided to support one of LB's local roasters. These young folks are very nice and they do a great job. The shop is pleasant and the retail experience is too. I'll be buying my beans from them for the foreseeable future. By the way LB Creamery sells the Creamery Blend from Black Ring. It's really good. read more

This place is great! I can't believe there wasn't a line around the corner. As you enter, you smell fresh coffee, and can hear a dull mechanical sound of coffee roasting as the backdrop to the hip music in the shop. The attending barista was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic and helped me pick a bag of delicious single origin beans from Burundi to take with my excellent cold brew. Even my barrage of idiotic novice questions about possible roasting coffee in my oven didn't phase her, and she maintained her professionalism without a hint of condescension or pretension that you find all too often in the artisan coffee world. This place is a gem that brightens Long Beach through its very presence, the type of small business that should be protected at all costs! Go here instead of Starbucks if you can, it's competitively priced with it and would be worth it even if it wasn't close! read more

Super delicious quality lattes and great customer service. Love this little spot! Free wifi, nice space, friendly people. This is a feel good place. I enjoyed the honey oat latte over their whiskey vanilla latte but both are yummy. They also had a pop up bread co (Colossus bread) come and share their menu. Ordered three of their 6 options and I don't know how to explain it but that all the ingredients just tasted fresh. FRESH. It was awesome. I left very satisfied with everything. read more

it's good. i like the coffee they have unique flavor lattes but they never have new flavors which can get redundant. There's a great barista he works every morning and he takes his job with pride makes me feel welcomed. The only thing that i would suggest is to get a sun shade for the glass doors. it gets so hot and it makes it hard to enjoy for here coffee. but other than that i like the location and think they are doing awesome read more

Sooo good!! The honey oat latte was smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. The foam layer was so silky! It was an absolute pleasure to drink. I had Starbucks the day before and the taste was harsh, bitter and heavy. The latte from this place was the exact opposite. They have a few tables and chairs out back. The customer service was pleasant and it's nicely decorated (very clean bathroom too!!) Park on the street or the lot behind the store not next to it. Don't risk a ticket or getting towed. We will definitely be back! read more

I really loved this place. My sister, a friend, and I decided the day before that we would visit a coffee shop since we work from home. The internet was fast! and Parking was easy in the back(not that many spots, but we didn't have a problem). The drinks were delicious, I had a large Mexican Mocha, it was STRONG!! Be advised y'all because, I drank a cup of coffee earlier in the day before going, and then once I was there had the Mexican Mocha, I was wiredddd (and concerned for my heart lol), this was of course definitely my fault. So overall, be weary I probably wouldn't drink any caffeine prior to going to a coffee shop lol. Overall great experience, great workers and I'll be back! read more

OMGEEEEE... been driving by this quaint little coffee spot for months.. I finally stopped in and ordered "Honey Oat Coffee" wasnt sure of oats in my coffee? Hands down.. fabulous! Like the kine where you crave it.. Pleasant aroma. Great taste. Natural sweetness and a smooth finish.. yummmm. Best coffee in Long Beach. This place just opened up in North LB and before they had just been roasting coffee. Now they've opened up the best coffee shop in LB. Established in 2014.

Black Ring Coffee Roasters began its journey in North Long Beach as a small-batch coffee roastery founded by Juliette Simpkins. Under her leadership, the shop established itself as a quality-focused destination, building strong community connections through exceptional coffee and service. In January 2025, Omar Pacheco took ownership, marking a new chapter while honoring the foundation Juliette built. The transition preserved Black Ring's core values of quality and community while bringing fresh energy to the coffee program. Under Omar's stewardship, the shop continues to embrace both tradition and innovation, expanding its offerings while maintaining the meticulous attention to detail that made Black Ring special from the start. Today, we continue writing our story in North Long Beach, building upon our legacy of exceptional coffee experiences one carefully crafted cup at a time.

As the owner of Black Ring Coffee Roasters since January of 2025, I bring five years of experience, including extensive background in coffee extract production and facility management. This technical expertise, combined with my passion for exceptional coffee, drives our commitment to quality in every cup. My focus is two-fold: strengthening relationships with our carefully selected suppliers to source the finest beans possible, and ensuring our team delivers an exceptional customer experience. However if you're new like me and unsure, you can more than likely go in and get an extra shot and it would be no problem :) if you're a coffee person who loves supporting your local cafes, give them a shot you won't regret it. I do want to note a few things, have a chitchat with the staff very helpful and you're a learn about where they started from. The second, there is no public bathroom.

A guy to my right was sitting next to the window working on his laptop. And two others against the wall sipping their coffees and doing whatever on their phones. A customer was at the register ordering while another customer walked in to stand in line behind me. I let her go in front of me while I took pics and recorded footage. I like the atmosphere and space a lot. It has a very nice decor. Artwork, pictures and murals with history displayed along the walls. Grab and cold drinks available for purchase. Nice music playing that wasn't too loud but just right to complement a chill coffee shop vibe. "A" was friendly and patient as shared with her this was my first visit. As I browsed thru the coffee menu before making my selection I noticed more costumes coming in. I ordered a medium sized Americano which is $3.75 but I requested to add some hazelnut creamer as well as some almond milk which totaled out to $4.75 which was quite exceptional to me. Giving the location, the quality of service and the quality of the coffee. Not to mention to overall experience. I even thru in a $1 tip. I support the business and love the space. It feels welcoming and safe. The restroom was clean. They also have many different events held there. If you're ever in the area definitely pull up and check em' out. It's black owned as well. I actually ended up sitting there in the lot sipping my coffee while working on my video to post on social media. The coffee was good and tasteful. Didn't need any sugar. I ordered their coffee flight that came with a Cold Brew, Espresso and House Drip. I'm not sure of their brand or blend but it was pretty good and it was a slam dunk since I left out of there like a caffeinated skunk! The service was friendly with a totally chill vibe perfect for working or just to be in the moment. There's a couple of other fights I want to try so I'll be back for sure. My go to order is an iced vanilla honey oat latte with one shot of espresso since I don't like my coffee too strong, topped with vanilla cold foam. It is SO good! It has the perfect balance of coffee flavor and sweetness without being overly sweet, which is exactly how I like my coffee. The coffee shop itself is super cute and nicely decorated, making it such a nice little spot to stop by. I've also tried their banana bread, and it was so soft, rich, and full of flavor. Definitely one of those places I keep coming back to and continue to recommend!

They encourage you to share the tables with others which creates a sense of community. I noticed water bowls on the patio. So, They are dog friendly. They have a drink menu but i did not see a pastry menu. It is most likely because they bake different things every day. They offer breakfast sandwiches, empanadas, cinnamon rolls, and much more. I got one butter croissant, two chocolate croissants. (Pain au chocolat) and one iced caramel latte. The croissants were perfectly crunchy on the outside. airy and fluffy on the inside. The chocolate croissant had just the right amount of chocolate. The 3 pastries and the iced coffee added up to $25 + tip. The girls who work there were really friendly. Great little spot for your morning coffee and pastry or lunch. I recommend checking them out.

So glad this place is right here in North Long Beach. They roast their beans right there in the same building and they are downright good at it. The Nitro Cold Brew is just special too. So smooth and light! Then there's the service. Everyone including the owners are always so friendly and helpful, and it's so obvious that they love what they do and their passionate about your coffee! I just moved to Hawaiian Gardens and I go out of my way every time I can to get coffee here. It's simply the best I've found in LA County. I buy my coffee here to make at home and have never been disappointed, always very happy with it! I've always taken the Columbian which is really when made with a Moka Pot/Percolator. Please open more cafes Black Ring! We need more of you in the world. read more

I stopped by Black Ring Coffee Roasters for the first time yesterday while I was doing laundry in the plaza next door, and I had a great experience. The service was decent overall, and the atmosphere was clean and minimalistic. They had a dessert display with pastries, but none of them really caught my attention. Their drinks, on the other hand, definitely wowed me. I ordered the iced Whiskey Vanilla Latte with oat milk, and I really enjoyed it. I also tried a sip of my boyfriend's hot mocha, which was equally good. It tasted like a rich, caffeinated hot chocolate. It's funny to think my first visit to Black Ring Coffee was many years ago for one of their coffee tastings in the back of the shop. Fast forward to today, and it's become one of my favorite local coffee spots. My order is almost always the Whiskey Vanilla coffee--it's smooth, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent without being overly sweet. Every cup has been consistently good, which is probably why I keep coming back. The shop has a laid-back vibe, the staff is always welcoming, and it's the kind of place that makes supporting local businesses easy. Upon walking in, we were welcomed and greeted by Esteban. He keeps the shop clean and pristine. The Guatemalan drip was exquisite, delicate yet, rich & fragrant. They roast their own beans in-house. Love this place! It's my go to shop. They roast in house and are very knowledgeable about their coffee. The staff is very friendly and will give suggestions if you don't know what to get. They have a rotating art gallery with local artists and use local bakers for their pastries. Try the Honey Oat Latte; you won't be dissappointed. read more

It's blended with cold brew, oat milk, dates, and some other ingredients I can't remember. But it was creamy, chewy from the little bits of dates that weren't blended, espresso. It's a pretty large smoothie than can definitely be split between people, it's also very filling. Such an awesome gem in Long Beach, and the staff are friendly and super welcoming.
