Part cafe, part specialty grocery, Black Sheep Market is a baaadass new addition to the neighborhood! Black Sheep Market is an outpost of Black Sheep Bagel Cafe in Harvard Square. (I'm told they do carry some of their signature bagels, but the person working at the counter explained you have to arrive before around 10:00 to snag one on the weekends.) Whether you intend to or not, you'll probably leave here with at least one bakery item-- it's hard to walk around big case filled with pastries and Union Square donuts (Saturdays/Sundays only!) without giving into temptation! I ended up with an apple danish and a drip coffee. The coffee was great, and they'll have a full espresso bar when they ramp up to Phase 2. Phase 2 will also bring bagel sandwiches. The market carries a stellar selection of specialty items (similar style to Formaggio or Savenor's). The shelves were full of fresh fruit, cheese, snackies like nuts and dried fruits, and fresh loaves from Nashoba Brook Bakery This would be a perfect spot to stop for picnic supplies as you head down towards the river!

Black sheep has very good sandwiches. The zaatar bagel is my favorite and I get the byo option so I can get a vegan sandwich.

The blueberry bagel I had that day was absolutely superb, probably the best blueberry bagel I've ever had in Boston. A few days later, I craved that same blueberry bagel and made the trip back, which is a considerable drive for me. Upon arrival, I was told that blueberry bagels are not offered every day and are only available on Thursdays. I returned the following Thursday, but the experience was very different. I got blueberry, poppy, and a few other bagels to take home. Unfortunately, all of them were absolutely disappointing. They tasted extremely off and very different from the blueberry bagel I had previously. At home, my family ate about half of what we purchased, but none of us had any desire to finish the rest. Overall, the experience was unpleasant, and the bagels were not enjoyable at all. The blueberry bagel from my first visit looked and tasted amazing and was completely different in quality from what I received on my second visit. On top of that, the person behind the counter seemed careless with hygiene, touching the screen, bagels, and other surfaces without any apparent attention to cleanliness. It felt like a completely different place compared to my first visit just a couple of weeks earlier. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed.

I chose the Everything Bagel, which had a thin, crispy crust on the outside, but the inside was full of soft, airy textures, and the spiciness of the black pepper was particularly prominent. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's the best bagel I've ever had. The Favorite: Boiled egg + tomato + avocado, fresh, refreshing, and full of oily aroma, delicate, fluffy, and with a touch of crispness, it's hard not to be the Favorite! I chose the Rosemary Sea Salt Bagel, which, as always, was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with both seasonings having very prominent aromas, becoming more fragrant with each chew. Iced Latte: The milky aroma was incredibly rich!!! I was amazed by the first sip, I loved it. The interior is old and dark, and it gets very hot in the summer, so it's much better to sit outdoors.

Friendly staff and even proactive staff, as they realized before I did that one of the bagel items in the bag they handed me was from another person's order and they were still working on one of my items. So, in a way, good that they noticed, but not so good that the incorrect orders I keep reading about are still happening. -- Egg Sandwich on Everything: Seems like a stretch calling this an "Everything" when the seeds are so sparsely applied. Egg was cooked well as requested. Condiments as requested, other than the missing hot sauce. My wife's assessment: "Pretty good but lacked flavor." -- Salmon Spread ("Pate") on Pumpernickel: I loved the caraway seeds on the surface and it had decent flavor. Texture a little tough all the way through. The $5.95 spread didn't get me much thickness or coverage. Also very dry, along with the dry, tough bagel. I didn't taste or feel much salmon or cream cheese. In retrospect, adding tomato for an extra $.95 was a wise move. -- Coffee: Strong, hot, and good. -- Parking: Excellent. Overall, certainly at least doable. It's just that with other better and better value bagel and breakfast options these days, probably wouldn't do again.

Went on a Friday around 11:30am (FYI use Yelp to get address or Google Maps - Apple Maps took us somewhere else). Located in Seaport district with plenty of outdoor seating available. You do have to order a minimum of 3 bagels with a Schmear so just keep that in mind. We got the Poppy, Sesame, and Everything bagels with Scallion Schmear. Bagels were perfectly soft and the schmear was delicious! I wasn't sure how I would feel about the concept of ripping the bagels and dipping it into the cream cheese, but I actually ended up preferring it - less messy and more cream cheese per bite. The bagels were very fresh (you can smell them well before you see their storefront in the suprette). You get 4 bagel options and a similar number of spreads to choose from. No seating inside, lattes were from a can, no avocado spreads just cream cheese varieties and butter. You won't be disappointed but if you're expecting something life changing (based on the hype) I think you'll be disappointed. I went close to when they open at 7 and waited less than a minute at most.
