Sat down for 20 mins with no service, no water, no eye contact nor acknowledgment. There seems to have been a dinner rush but it was dying down, so we were trying to be understanding. 2 tables were waiting on food and 1 table was waiting to order. We could have at least been offered water. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Thai food (my mom is Thai) and this place has really delicious authentic Thai food. I went with my family and we ordered the papaya salad Thai style, boat noodles, yen ta fo, pad kee mao, crab fried rice, and raw shrimp marinated in Thai seafood sauce. The stand out dishes for me were the yen ta fo and crab fried rice. The crab meat in the fried rice was so fresh and you could see the crab lumps. For dessert, we ordered three types of ice cream: mango, coconut, and lod chong. All were so fresh and delicious. I loved the coconut flavor so much I ordered a pint to go. As a native Texan, and being half-Thai myself, Black Thai Restaurant is a definitely a must-try when it comes to enjoying delicious, authentic Thai food! From the terrific taste, to the imported authentic ingredients, to the friendliness of the waitresses, to the comfy ambiance of the restaurant - this is definitely a restaurant you don't want to miss. Honestly, Black Thai Restaurant really won me over with the quality of the select dishes we ate during my 2 separate visits here. There's another popular Thai restaurant nearby (which I won't name), but Black Thai was less greasy and really nailed the quality of authentic Thai food. This restaurant is so new, I think many people still have yet to visit this restaurant, but there's several reasons to come stop by for a visit: Parking: since it's not crazy busy like this other popular Thai restaurant, parking was VERY ample and easy. You won't feel like you're trying to find a parking spot at the mall during the holidays. You can park and go straight to ordering from the menu in under 2 minutes! Food quality/authenticity: hands-down, some of the best Thai food I've had in a while. Every dish I tried really reminded me of the delicious street food in Thailand. Even when I asked of what they use to make their Thai Tea, the kind waitress confirmed to me that they use condensed milk instead of half-and-half like a lot of other Thai restaurants do to shortcut making this refreshing drink. I can tell the owner and the cooks pay a lot of attention to the details of making a delicious Thai dish. Ambiance: being so new, it's never been terribly crowded, but that's because a lot of people have yet to discover the charm of this restaurant along with its food. This restaurant really seemed like a comfy place you can take a date, a group of friends, or even if you're alone to have a full meal and have a friendly conversation. It's decorated really well, with videos of different areas of Bangkok adorning the tv screens. There's even a little nook where you can take cute pictures that's ready for your Instagram, Facebook, or whatever social media you use where you like to post. 0 Star for service because we didn't get any service. Cannot rate the food as we were not tended too. When we first arrived, we were directed to sit at a table by one of the worker. We sat there for 15+ mins and were not attended too (not even a drink offer or indicate that someone will assist us). As time went by, no eye contact or anything; therefore, we just got up and left. We walked in and our waitress looked bothered and was not friendly. I could not read the scanned QR menu, so I asked for a paper menu and she looked even more annoyed. We ordered egg rolls as an appetizer and were not given plates. She set the food on the table and walked away before we could even ask, and then we watched every other table receive appetizer plates while we sat there. She never came back to check on us. Another waitress (who was very nice) eventually checked on us. I told the friendly waitress about my experience and that I will not be back. I also told my friend about what happened and that I will not return. As a person of color, I experienced this treatment as stereotyping, and it made me feel singled out and unwelcome. On the food: my dish was not good and I barely ate it. My husband said his was okay, but overall it was not worth the money for me. I liked this restaurant. The servers are very tentative and courteous. They make us feel very good while dining there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxing and comfortable. Finally, the food presentation was pretty good too. We ordered a green papaya salad, a chicken satay, an authentic Pad Thai, and a Pad Woon Send for our lunch. Came here from google to say the same thing but stop thinking, get in your car, and come to this restaurant IMMEDIATELY and bring your whole family! A friend and I came to this restaurant for her last day in the DFW area and we decided to come here after careful consideration and we did not regret it I had the pulled pork fried rice (no heat/spice/0), spring rolls, curry bites (mild spice/1), and sticky rice with coconut milk paired with both the mango and coconut ice cream with a Thai tea to sip on. My friend had the red curry with shrimp (mid spice/3) with spring rolls, the curry bites, and she also had the same dessert I ordered. All for $74.62 which for all the portions and everything we got if great in my opinion. Experience: Service: We walked in and it was pretty much free seating, we noted how the interior decoration was very nice, everything meshed well and there we're fresh flowers on our table which was a nice touch for pictures and videos. We we're served by the owner who is a WONDERFUL, SWEET, KIND, THOUGHTFUL, GIRL-BOSS, and just overall a queen. She talked to us about the menu and how she just opened in September. She told us about how she imports all spices from Thailand and makes all food from scratch in house, so some seasonal items like mango we're out of stock as they like to make them with the freshest ingredients. Curry Bites: She gave us a pair of curry bites on the house to try and it was STELLAR, we enjoyed every bite as she explained her story and how she named her restaurant (you should go and ask her about it. ;) ) Pulled Pork Fried Rice: Our main dishes were fantastic! My pulled pork fried rice was absolutely delectable the pork was sweet and blended well with the egg, veggies, and tomato (i think it was) It wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be and didn't leave an overly oily taste on my tongue. Spring Rolls + Sweet Chili Sauce: The spring rolls were also very good. Spring rolls are my go-to appetizer so I'm very picky about these thinks but these spring rolls that came with sweet chili sauce paired well with each other. Some times you will go to restaurants and find that the sauce and the rolls don't blend well together but at 'Black Thai' I did not have this problem, it was savory and not very heavy. Thai Tea: The Thai Tea was quite literally the best I've ever had. The first time I tried Thai Tea was at the beginning of this year and I find myself ordering this sweet drink at every Thai eatery I end up going too. THIS THOUGH it wasn't overly sweet or purely milk as some places might serve you this was perfectly balanced and washed away the oily texture from the tongue while still having that sweetness I enjoy. I found this restaurant here on yelp and decided I would give it a try. The location is only 10mins away , easy to find . I ordered spicy salmon salad, tom yum noodles and Thai basil stirred fried . The food were super tasteful and very authentic. It was taste like home to me. The price is not too bad , I would say it's worth it. The service was great . Waiting time is ridiculous... usually the food is supppsosed to arrive all together but they kept coming out one by one with a huge time gap in between. Saying you have only 2 cooks working is not a good excuse for the slow service, especially when you only have 2 customers present during lunch service.
