Such an eclectic and beautiful find while wondering around beta our hotel. Desperately needed coffee before we drove onward. The barista was friendless, attentive, and quickly got our drinks and snacks ready to go. Truthfully, I did not drive but throughly enjoy my lovely iced latte with oat milk. Such a neat area that I wish we had more time to explore. I loved the decor of this coffee shop which is why I took so many pictures of the unique and super cool atheistic. There are three kinds of people in this world: First, those who like their coffee to taste as such, with only a splash of cream or spoonful of sugar for added flavor. Second, those who like to say they drink coffee, but they are in fact drinking a latte that buries any whisper of bean juice six feet under a crushing amount of milk and sugar. Third are those who create false dichotomies. I fall into the first group, and rarely into the third. It is rare that I order a latte, and usually happens when I want a dessert drink rather than a coffee drink (whew, I was worried I was incriminating myself here - I should have taken the fifth!) For my dessert drink, I ordered a seasonal maple toffee latte. Oh. My. Goodness! This thing was absolutely brilliant! Yes, as a latte it did take a notable edge off the espresso, but you could still vividly taste it. Not just that, the maple and toffee was not overdone, giving the drink just the right amount of sweetness without me trembling in fear of the scale I would step onto later that night. Not only was the drink brilliant, so was the service and value. If one looks at many comparable spots, and I'm not including the green one with a two-tailed Siren, the price cannot be beat. I haven't seen prices like this since I was in high school, maybe the start of college. As for the service, the coffee came out lightning quick, and everyone I spoke to was friendly. Final verdict: This place may be the only one I've been to in all my years that actually does a latte right, at least for my taste. When I return to Louisville, in between the whiskeys, you already know you'll find me here. read more

My order is an easy one, a quad Americano in a medium-sized cup. Black. I like a rich, nutty brew and when trying a place that's new to me, I always worry about my coffee tasting too bright, almost sour (it seems increasingly popular). Happy to say that's not the case here. I didn't stay, but there's some seating and you can work from here. It's a bright, modern space. I'll gladly stop at Blackbeard whenever I'm back in town! What a welcoming and cozy coffee shop downtown. I was staying at a hotel around the corner and wanted a cup of joe before heading home. After a quick search on Yelp, I was walking into Blackbeard. They were definitely in the middle of their morning rush as folks were in line, waiting for drinks, and every table was taken, either by someone working away on a computer or chatting with friends. I opted to go with a latte with soy milk. It was delicious, but I did have to wait extra long because my drink was made incorrectly. Stuff happens, I totally get it. They were also really cool about it and honestly, I didn't mind sticking around to enjoy the vibes before I left. Few little things... There is street parking out front that requires payment, they definitely have wifi, they also had some baked goods, and they had chill music playing. Hopefully that helps set the stage for you. In downtown Louisville I came across Blackbeard Espresso, and I thought, hmm that's interesting name for a coffee shop. Maybe the owner has a black beard. The inside space was cute with exposed brick and little plants. There were some people working on their computers. I got an affogato latte. I didn't get an actual affogato, this is when they put a scoop of ice cream into your espresso. I just got this flavor. The Blackbeard Espresso first started out as a coffee truck. Since 2018 they have been on this very busy location on West Main Street. My latte was ready quickly. It was very tasty. It was a blend of vanilla and caramel. It was perfectly frothy and hot. I typically like to sit with my coffee, I would have loved to sit in Blackbeard, but we had to go due to limited time remaining in Louisville before flying home. They had a sign on the door saying they don't accept cash. I'm not sure if it's just the day I was there or all the time. Most places prefer cash over credit cards. My latte was very tasty, and the barista was very patient while I was deciding on what to get. I would stop by Blackbeard Espresso again when in the area. read more

We went to Blackbeard Espresso after a hotel breakfast that was subpar, and we wished we would've just come here to begin with. I got a drip coffee, it was El Salvador that day. I opened the lid and stone fruit aromas hit my nose immediately and I knew we had found a good one. They definitely know how to brew a cup of coffee without burning out all the flavor - so glad we stopped in for a quality cup! My fiance tried the Cuban con leche based on other yelp reviewers and thank goodness for all of you it truly is comfort in a cup. This place is fantastic! I got the Mayan Mocha and it's probably one of the best I've had. It had the perfect amount of spice and coffee flavor. We had a Cafe Miele, which was a delicious honey and vanilla flavored latte, and a really interesting Cuban drink that incorporates SALT! It's a great place to chill if you're up early and waiting for the nearby attractions to open up. There's a couple of tables inside along with a small couch and some other stools along the wall. There's also a small table outside. I ordered a latte and it was quickly prepared. The two baristas ran an efficient operation here. Not the best I've ever had but it was decent. There is a restroom in the lobby of the building but you'll need one of those keys which is attached to some ridiculous object in order to use the restroom. read more

Blackbeard Espresso, which started and still also runs as a food truck, opened a brick-and-mortar shop on Main Street earlier this year. It's small but cozy, and most importantly, it has a full menu of coffee shop faves. I opted for a chai latte. The barista was quick to make my drink, which was happily spicy. Blackbeard Espresso also boasts some delicious looking baked goods. There are a few seating areas.
