First time here was on Christmas Day for dinner. I love how you can see the salmon smoking over the fire. Everything was really tasty. Pretty excited to find a fancy restaurant without having to go down to Seattle. We ate the Oysters, clams, filet and the orange chicken. Would highly recommend. read more

The full name of this place is "Blackfish Wild Salmon Grill and Bar". Let's preface this review with a note that our reservations were for 11:10 PM. Not that you should expect less for late night food, but food this good this late is unusual. Even at this hour, there were no booths available, but we sat at a very comfortable table. Our server was great, knew the menu and did not leave us wanting... I must say, we had some of the best salmon I have ever experienced. We had the smoked salmon sampler with King (Chinook), Coho (Silver), and Sockeye... amazing. Well worth the $13 price tag. For my entree, I had the "Salmon on the Stick" which is cooked to the side of an open fire the old fashioned way. Wow! It was quite possibly the best piece of fish I have ever enjoyed. Lightly seasoned and a perfect medium rare. Yum! No "sauce" as others have noted, but really, none was needed. The fish was moist and delicious. If you love wild Northwest Salmon, you really must try this. The sides (fresh asparagus spears and fritter corn cakes) were expertly prepared and complimented the salmon perfectly. Our total bill came to about $62 for an appetizer and two entrees. A $10 tip made it $72. PLENTY of food and really, a great price for fine dining. read more

The menu has a really nice selection, the sister restaurant next door Tula Bene, has an even better selection in my opinion. What made my five star rating come about is the wine sommelier and one of the servers from Tula Bene who served us on the Friday night popped over to blackfish on Saturday to say hi! Meant the world to my friend and I. Rick the wine sommelier was amazing. He went above and beyond to talk all kinds of wines with us and made sure we found the right one. We talked old world, new world, Pinots, from Greece over to Uruguay he was a gem to talk to. Chris our Tula Bene server also took his time with us and the menu explaining. Would not recommend. Had the rudest hostest/check-in lady. We were 5 min late due to covid check-in at front door so she canceled reservation. This was for our anniversary and birthday and we were excited to get out in 6 mos. She could care less, didn't even look up at us, rude. Said she could put us on wait list so I was like sure...then we asked how lonely, she said 3 hour wait. Are you kidding me, had we not asked how long we would be waiting for 3 hours. Again she cared less and was rude as could be. Totally ruined our special occasion moreso with her horribke rude attitude. We had a very disappointing experience at Blackfish. We have eaten here a few times with very good service and steaks, but last night was awful. We were told to sit at the bar. We uncomfortably sat with other peoples' dishes and check presenter in front of us for at least 15 minutes before the bartender/server removed and cleaned. During COVID time, this was actually really bad since it was not busy and he should have noticed. When we finally were served, we ordered the New York and 3 course meal. We waited at least 45 minutes to an hour when we finally asked since everyone around us had eaten. The bartender said he would inquire but he proceeded to talk to another guest and make a drink before he asked another server/food runner? She brought the two courses together and we then asked her for bread and water. The starter was cold and not idea to rush through since the entree was right there. I would have done 5 Stars but it can get really loud to the point where you wanna get up and leave .. but..... the food and service is awesome ! They sure know how to do a killer New York strip at a perfect medium temperature. The tillamook cheese pie is simply perfect if you love cheese and potatoes . I have tried other items before here in the past like their salmon and select seafood items , they are all wonderful. Wow! Never had salmon this good! And guess what? Best service we've had in a long time! You can get something here that you can't elsewhere. For one, salmon cooked the tribal way, alderwood smoked over alderwood flame, but that's not all, they also know precisely when the fish is done! Top that with some fantastic seasoning and you have the PERFECT PIECE OF SALMON! We told them we wanted ice cream with a shot of espresso over the top (not on the menu) and they came out with not just that, but that with two rock sugar stir sticks and two little chocolate cookies to go with! Sorry to report that we were very disappointed with out last visit. We showed up at 5:15 pm on a Monday night mid-August to find out that most of the tables were already reserved up until 8pm. (This is what should have caused up to leave, but alas we stayed.) Our visit was coupled with OK service (our waitress was hustling between all of her tables like no one's business) and less than "bounty" Bounty Bowls. Am thinking the big crowds played into smaller portion of the tasty broth & not as tasty seafood -- the shell fish was a bit over-cooked. The noise-level was fairly high by mid-meal, so we were OK to get out of there instead of enjoying a leisurely dinner as we had done on other occasions. For us, this visit was a less enjoyable one. 5 Star for the food & service. If this place had a view it would be perfect. But, of course inside the casino you do not have a view. It is a very pretty restaurant though. And the food is top notch. The Pacific NW Bounty Bowl is my favorite. I haven't tried much else, since I love this dish so much. I can't resist ordering when we get to eat here ! It is a rare treat because of the prices, more expensive then what we usually do. But, if you remember to use your players club or senior discount, it helps alot. We were a party of 6 on a Thursday evening. Most of us had the king salmon grilled with garlic butter which was excellent, an ample portion for me, a big man with a large appetite. Most also had the delicious Tillamook potato hash for a side. I had the Brussels sprouts with bacon for the other side which were pretty good coming from someone who hated them growing up. My wife had the red and gold beets which were very flavorful. My sister had a chicken entrée with the huckleberry jalapeño sauce which was way too spicy hot to enjoy the chicken. So the food was great, the service great but the noise was terrible, way too loud to have a normal conversation and that's why I gave it 4 stars. read more

I come here every couple of months with my girlfriends, this time I was celebrating my anniversary with my fiancé. Randomly, Maria has been my server almost every time I've eaten here. She is so gracious and accommodating, I was delighted that she was waiting on us tonight, I knew we'd be in good hands. The food is always solid, and the atmosphere is more upscale than the other dining choices at the casino. I went the route of surf and turf (NY steak and a scallop), and my boyfriend got the halibut. I would have loved to give this restaurant more than 1 star but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to eat anything. My mother and I were at Tulalip for a spa day and decided to get happy hour at Blackfish. We waited until five when they opened and sat in the bar. We were promptly greeted by a gentleman who acted as though he was less than happy to see us. He asked what we wanted to drink we told him and asked him for a happy hour menu. He said he'd be right back. He came back and told us we couldn't have happy hour because it was a holiday. Well we were there on Sunday January 14th and according to every United States calendar Martin Luther King Jr Day is Monday January 15th so that is the holiday. Yes on the menu and online it states that happy hour is not available on holidays and we were aware of this however yesterday Sunday was not a holiday today Monday is! It would have been nice if the server was educated on this however my mother and I were not about to argue because well we have manners and this server obviously had no idea what he was doing and I can only assume the manager who told him to not serve happy hour had no idea what they were doing as well. If you are going to create policies or limitations for happy hour you should know when to enforce them! No where does it say it will not be served the entire weekend of a holiday. Does this apply to other holidays where they don't serve happy hour the day before like the day before New Years or July 3rd? If so that needs to be noted. Overall we left very unhappy and dumbfounded that a restaurant doesn't know their own policies. Furthermore on here (Yelp) it even says that today, Monday, is the holiday not yesterday. read more

Can I say CLAM FRITTERS?! Wow. I was so impressed with the food offerings here. Beyond traditional Tulalip food like clam and geoduck fritters I thought the crab cakes and the array of butters were phenomenal. Normally one to use a little bit of butter, (though I love it) it was darn near impossible not to use gob fulls on the food here. While everything was seasoned perfectly, food tasted even more amazing with the addition of a bleu cheese and onion butter, a sweet cream butter and a horseradish butter. The atmosphere is dark...dimly lit...lots of black, charcoal and some burgundy with brushed steel accents. Intimate setting of tables which can accommodate 2 to 4 people and helps you forget you are in a casino. Now, I'm not afraid to spend a little more for a culinary experience, but this wasn't it. I ordered the salmon on cedar. "ahem"..a fish on a board. It was a little dry.. presentation was about a 7 on a scale from 1-10. There wasn't any sauce that made this dish stand out. I mean, you go to an upscale eatery in a casino named to highlight seafood...so, you order seafood, right? Not steak, not mac & cheese...but fish in pure form. The ambiance was great, but I could sit in the lobby of the hotel near the fireplace and wall mounted waterfall...knock out a few lights and get the same thing. The drinks are just as wonderful in the Impulse lounge, just a 5 minute walk through the casino. The stronger drinks can be found in the Cabaret. Since there is no real competition in a 30 mile radius, I can see why they look so great. I mean...how does an ordinary guy look attractive? Hang around a bunch of more visually challenging guys. Final verdict...over priced, average tasting, pretty plates, nice ambiance, ...I really can't think of anything that stood out to enhance the value...I just can't see it. Hey Ardi... up the road about 10 minutes...come join me at Angel of the Winds for salmon and chips..it tastes better and runs a whopping 1.50! After all the commercials I expected a cut above the buffet, but did not get it. The staff was pleasant, but as a "destination restaurant" this place fell short. The nearly desiccated fish in the front cooler should have been the first sign. Choice of oysters was nice and the presentation was fine. Described as Lobster between slices of heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella, the appetizer turned out to be some weird lobster salad that I would not have ordered had it said lobster salad. Really sad and tasteless. Ribs were ok, but the quality of the meat was not sit down restaurant worthy. More like food truck level. The filet mignon was over cooked with no char. Desserts were disastrous with a chocolate cake that was hot pudding and a cobbler that had a 90 bread to 10 fruit differential. To the server's credit she took it off the bill when she saw I took one bite. I get that it is a casino restaurant, and this is where anyone who has a little luck looks to treating themselves, but it really falls short. Feeling bad for people who actually think this is good food, but if Chili's and Applebee's are your standard it may seem a step up. It is not. Just gamble and drink. I had dinner here with my boyfriend and his parents. We showed up at 4:50 on a Saturday and were lucky to get one of a few not reserved tables when they opened. Our waitress Jill was attentive and very nice. Their 'bread' is not my idea of bread but their butters were tasty. I had the crab mac and cheese and it was delicious, I highly recommend it! My boyfriend had the baby back ribs which came with baked mac and cheese and a whole sausage. He was really pleased. His parents had the salmon and a salad with the lobster napoleon. Once a year, for the past 7 years - I've dined at Blackfish with my family. Back in the day, we used to order the Salmon Family Style dinner - I wish they still offered this. Now we order off the menu and this place never disappoints. The staff is always professional and attentive. Over the years there have been some menu changes but the staples remain (New York Steak, Lobster, Salmon, Oysters, etc.) Simply put, Blackfish is fine dining at its best. Blackfish was a stop while at the Casino for a "pre-birthday dinner" with my girlfriend. Has nice decor all around and their menus have this aluminum on the cover which is pretty neat. We didn't order drinks since we had drinks that we brought in from the casino floor but they did start us off with flat breads and different butters. All of them we're pretty tasty. I also ordered half dozen oyster flight and they all had a unique taste, in a good way. The dressing they compliment with the oysters are delicious! Girlfriend ordered the Cobb salad which is a pretty large portion. She loves it and it was yummy. It has deviled quail eggs, blue cheese crumbles, smoked salmon, crab, (usually shrimp? But this one didn't have it), bacon, olives and to top it off with a dill lemon dressing. I ordered the king salmon grilled with honey spaghetti squash and veggie/cheese ravioli with blackberry-jalapeño jelly. It was nicely done. I was craving battered fish but told the waitress grilled instead, so I'm still craving battered fish... They top off the dinner with these little chocolate cookies as well. Anyway, 4 stars for the food. More spendy than the usual but that's what you get for seafood. Deduct a star for the waitress service. She started off great but then disappeared or avoided our table for whatever reason. I felt I should finally write a review on Blackfish. My family and I have eaten there for the last 5 or so years. I would say we have eaten there at least 20 times. First note, dinner reservations are recommended, it's a busy restaurant for good reason. Second, cocktails are ever changing and go with the season your in. They are generally superb. Third, the dinner selections are consistently excellent, so much so that our family of four orders the same entrees nearly every time. I order the Heritage Salmon (Salmon on a stick over a flame served medium), my wife orders Halibut with a lemon sauce ( very fresh and tender), my son orders a steak ( always cooked to order)and my daughter in law orders the Dungeness crab Mac and Cheese( not skimpy on the crab). When you can go to a restaurant and already know the great choices they have will not disappoint, I think you have arrived. I don't give it a full 5 stars, because the price point is high. Most dinner entrees are $35-$40 and drinks are ~$15. If you go a win a bunch $$ at the casino, then this is a non issue. :) read more

This is my 4th time here, it's a hit and miss dining experience. Every other time had been good. Last night definitely bad! We wondered if the B-team was in the kitchen last night....filet mignon was rare, sent it back 2x. They finally offered to cook another one and got it right the 3rd time as med rare. Ravioli was under cooked- not al dente, just hard and not cooked enough. Veggie sides were extremely salty- couldn't eat it. King crab was over cooked and salty as well. Shrimp cocktail was served in some bland watered down cocktail sauce- what a waste! As far as service, had to keep flagging down other servers to get our MIA waitress so we can order water, bottle of wine, appetizers, etc. Also, took forever to get our entrees. It's bad enough that you have to walk through the casino and smell like an ashtray after leaving the place....Bad service, bad food, bad night!! I think this'll be my last visit. read more

The food was really good, but not what I wanted. I wasn't familiar with the menu and it was my fault for not asking. Also, it was very pricey for what you get. Lastly, when I was asked if I wanted a soup or salad with my meal, I wasn't informed that it would cost extra. This is the third time we have been to blackfish and the second time we have been disappointed in our experience. I would like to start out by saying the atmosphere could be great with the open style kitchen, but it is totally overshadowed by the other side of the room. The front of the restaurant is complete open to the casino which in my opinion completely destroys the fine dining aspect of the blackfish. I am not sure if they got a new inexperienced cook or if he just doesn't care about the food he serves. I ordered the jumbo prawns which had absolutely no flavor. The asparagus that came with the meals also had no spices; would it kill you to use a little bit of salt? My boyfriend ordered the salmon on a stick which is supposed to be a traditional meal. His meal was also bland and completely not worth the trip. Server was awesome however food was not what I had expected. My fiancé and I had the king salmon with mushroom risotto. Both of our risotto's were severely undercooked and chalky. The flavor was good but the rice was half cooked and I'm used to creamy smooth risotto. Other than that it was great experience. read more

We have frequented this restaurant over 80 times since moving to the area several years ago. It has been our #1 restaurant in terms of location, atmosphere, service, food, etc. I always book through Open Table and we have always been seated at our table of choice. We stopped by last week for after a little "gaming" for dinner. I chose the crab salad which comes with (VERY LITTLE) balsamic. I asked the server if I could have a little extra on the side, and when he returned he had a small container of balsamic which he informed me would cost me an additional $1.50 per the chef. I actually laughed out loud thinking the server must be joking! He insisted that he was completely serious as he placed it on the table in a rude manner. This was added to our tab. Remember, this is also a gambling establishment!! Nothin' free about this place! We usually spend between $80.00 (not often) and $150.00 (more often) for dinner and drinks. If you do the math.....around $10,000 over the course of years we have been eating there. This is not including visits with friends we have taken. We are seriously considering finding a new "best" restaurant to replace The Blackfish. It's funny how something so small can make such a big impact on how we view this place.
