2505 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719, USA Burnt pizza, then argued about how I need to special order it if I don't want it burnt. Over 30 years of being a satisfied customer and it was extremely inconsiderate to argue with me when I requested a replacement pizza and to pick up the burnt one. I ordered 4:52pm and it's already past 6:00pm I've been waiting for my replacement pizza with the burnt one sitting, waiting to be picked up. This has never been a problem before, I grew up ordering from this location and it was a family night with two XL pizzas and two XL pizzas I ordered yesterday, never have I seen the quality slip. Being treated like I did something wrong because I didn't want a burnt pizza wasn't right, in fact it was disturbing. Very disappointed in customer service and behavior of who was arguing on the phone with me. It was very unprofessional. Thank you. Brian

I've been coming here for years and pre Covid their pizzas were excellent but it seems like they have changed their ingredients and it's just not as good anymore.

Beyond burned. Tried to pull the top off to salvage it but all the cheese came off with it. So no pizza for me.

So I love this place. The pan pizza is the best... but I had an issue with the food on my last visit, which was a week ago today. As with all "fast food" pizza joints, when you get the pan pizza, sometimes the dough isn't fully cooked through, so they have the well done option to check when you're ordering. Well... I've ordered from here 5 or 6 times and it's been a great experience. I tell everyone I know to grab Blackjack instead of Domino's or Pizza Hut cuz it's the best.... until you have a problem and then they don't seem to care. Everyone is always so friendly there. When you go pick your order up, they open the boxes for you and show you your stuff, etc... so I go get the pizza and wasn't really thinking about it, but they didn't show me my pizza. I drove 15 mins each way from my house to grab it. When I got home, I opened the box and this pizza was BLACK! it's like they ran it through the entire oven twice. I attempted to eat it, but it just wasn't edible. I was in no mood to drive the 30 minute round trip again so I left the box on the counter and went to bed. I answered all of the surveys and left my contact information. No one contacted me...so after waiting a few days, I called the store and they said I should have called them right away to let them know. So it really sucks, but I won't be back to Blackjack Pizza again. Guess I have to find another quality pizza joint in Tucson... Maybe after they see this review and the actual picture of what they gave me, I will get a response!

I've moved from Phoenix to Tucson and I couldn't really find a really perfect pizza place until I found this spot. The employees are super sweet they gave me two free quarters so I could play on their arcade game. I will definitely be eating here more. The desserts are pretty flame. They have spicy ranch which is something new. It's not fancy but it has good warm welcomes.

Absolutely ridiculous I ordered an eight piece wing and an order of the Cinnabread they told me it would take 15 minutes and I was sitting there for 45 minutes while the lady knew I was there and kept looking at me it wasn't until another employee happened upon me and asked what my name was come to find out my order was ready the entire time and she chose to leave me there waiting horrible service I am completely furious because by the time I got my food it was cold. This was a middle-aged woman with pink hair at the front. Photo: Dry cold and unappetizing

The estimated wait for two was 10 minutes so we grabbed drinks and headed upstairs to their cute/loft lounge. As we passed the entrance we already heard the host increasing wait time to 20 minutes. For drinks she had got the house red cabernet and for me the bartender and I whipped up a little custom cocktail (see pic). Moments later our table was ready. Note: Penelope operates on a novel "community-waiter" system so don't be confused if a totally different person comes by to: take appetizers, check on you, order entrees, check on you again, and order dessert! We've often had four different staff during a meal here and all are super friendly with experience-filled opinions about everything on the menu. We ordered the Burrata and Tomatoes app which arrived in barely 5 minutes - the cheese is traditionally mozzarella-like but here it was almost ricotta-soft... and melded deliciously with the mildly acidic slices of ripe tomato and lots of pistachio pesto (nice twist chef!). We split the Sgt Pepper pizza this time, craving both sausage and roasted chilis. It arrived in 15 minutes with ample sausage and just a few burnt bubbles (totally ok because we know these thin-crusts must be flash broiled at super high temps (around 1k degrees). We demolished the 'za but both of us would like to have seen a bit more green chili. We were looking forward to the olive oil cake however, at 7pm, they had just sold the last slice (confirmed by our "second dessert waiter" who wandered by a few minutes later ;) Atmosphere is casual-elevated and sound levels aren't bad despite the density of tables - likely due to the 20 foot tall ceilings. Parking is free/easy in their private lot and it appears they do a popular takeout business too. We are both looking forward to their return to downtown this fall with Penelope's II !

We were seated right away since it wasn't busy, and things started off simple enough with bread and oil. We asked for parmesan to go with it, and our server seemed unsure how to respond, eventually bringing out packet parm even though fresh was clearly available. Not a huge deal, but we found it odd. A little later, we asked for more bread. The server told us they were out but, "that they could probably make more". . He relayed it to the woman handling bread, who then made more for another table and skipped us entirely. He mentioned it again to her when he saw us looking in their direction. she looked over, and still nothing. It was awkward, since the restaurant is the size of a closet. Once the pizza came, we got up ourselves to ask for more oil and parmesan, since our waiter hadn't come to check back. We got the oil instantly since we brought us the bowl, but no parmesan. At one point my son asked for bread, again, finally it came and the server literally tossed it on the table without a word. We said thank you and he completely ignored all of us. It didn't get any better from there. The bill was dropped on the table without a word either. My husband and I kept looking at each other with confused looks. We turned the bill in with our CC, and once the server returned it, same thing, not a single interaction. We also watched the same server make another table feel like an inconvenience over something as simple as asking for a bottle of Coke instead of a can. The customer ended up backing down just to avoid the hassle. The server then told the guest, "it's fine, I can get it for you!" On top of that, staff were wearing gloves while handling food, but also touching chairs, phones, and other surfaces; kind of defeats the purpose I think? My boys also had a weird interaction with a staff near the bathrooms who was very rude to them and accused them of cutting the line, despite no one waiting. It was very strange. Bottom line: the food is incredible, no question. But the service was so bad it's hard to ignore. Best advice, get it to go and skip the experience inside.

We've had the Caesar salad which is pretty good, but recently tried the Piastra (chilled zucchini noodles in housemade pesto) which was a light and refreshing start to the meal. Generally we don't like sitting at the bar but it was nice to watch the crew make food. It's impressive what they can do with this small space. Very small menu- My husband and I are sober so we are always looking for spots with good NA/ mocktail options but it fell short here so we just got a bottle of sparkling water. We ordered the butter pecan salad which was amazing. Loved everything about it, I was hesitant that they only had butter lettuce but I think I appreciated the soft lettuce with the crunch of the apple and pecans in it. The dressing was phenomenal. For a pizza we got just the pepperoni, I saw a lot of margarita pizzas with pepperoni being made and I think we would've liked that option better with the fresh chunks of mozzarella. The cheese they use for the regular pizza is a very strong flavor, probably a nice aged parm so that really came through. We are sauce people so it was hard to appreciate the sauce with the strong profile of the cheese which is why I think we would've liked the margarita pizza better We had the panna cotta for desert and my husband LOVED it. They prep it in advance in cute little mason jars. Overall not a bad spot. Service was great, salad was phenomenal. I think if we would've had a table and maybe tried a different pizza this would've made our top 5 spots for pizza.

We started with the ABG salad that surprised me because I'm usually not a big fan of Gorgonzola, but the combination of green apple, pecan brittle, and cheese worked really well together and made for a great balance of flavors. For the pizza, we ordered the mushroom pizza and added pepperoni. The sauce was excellent I believe was some sort of a garlic/oil white sauce the mushroom portion was generous which I absolutely love, and the crust was exactly what I look for crunchy on the outside while still soft and slightly sweet inside. My only minor complaint with the toppings is that the $4 pepperoni add on felt a bit light, we only had a 2 or 3 slices per piece. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that our pizza was just slightly overcooked. The bottom was charred all the way around; wasn't burnt to the point of sending it back, but definitely left in the oven a minute or two longer than it needed to be. It wasn't busy when we visited, and it seemed like the employee rotating pizzas was a little more focused on chatting with FOH coworkers than keeping an eye on the oven. I've worked in pizza restaurants for nearly a decade, so I may be a bit more particular than most customers. Realistically, if our pizza had come out even a minute earlier, it would have been a 10/10 meal. That said, I enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back. The quality is there, and I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu in the future.

Food arrived just 15 min later and was piping hot and delicious. The lasagna is a good sized portion (roughly 5x7) and is generously filled with meat. Taste is amazing with medium-firm pasta and a nice crust across the top and sides. The ricotta calzone came with a side of marinara (yay) for dipping as there is no sauce inside. Roughly 2 dozen toppings are available, ranging from $3-$8+. I opted for the meatballs ($8.50) and was slightly disappointed. The meatballs are crumbled within the calzone (understandable) but not pronounced in quantity. I would prefer larger pieces (halves work at this size - after all I ordered meat-ball not meet-ground ;) However, for $8 (a 75% upcharge) my chief gripe is that I was simply expecting more. And two Old Fashionables ($13) - strong, delicious, and not too sweet. We split their one-size pizza (roughly 12" medium) in order to save room for their famous, rotating desserts. Their 'zas are super thin crust and really need to be eaten straight from the oven so that the bottom never has a chance to get soggy.
