Ok so I went back again on Thursday. This is place is one of the spots that allows me to brag about Baltimore being a great food city. Brisket Nachos- delicious and fresh made chips Short Rib Torta!!!!- this is probably the best Torta I've ever eaten from the fresh vegetables to the Amazing Short Rib. Totally worth it Great service, chill ambiance. Amazing kitchen smells.

I've now tried Blacksauce Kitchen twice: once at their storefront on a Thursday and once at the Saturday farmers market. The tamarind duck sandwich with crispy leeks on the Thursday was phenomenal, service was fast and warm, and the portion size was generous. The farmers market was a very different experience: super slow service for a mediocre-at-best duck scrapple biscuit sandwich (just a bit bland, sadly). And maybe I got a bad biscuit, I don't know, but that part didn't really impress me much either, which is sad because I heard such good things and waited 40 minutes. I will definitely return for the Thursday menu soon, but I'll give the farmer's market stall a pass from now on. Still, I love the rotating menu, friendly service, and creative dishes at the storefront! Definitely recommend checking out this spot if one of the weekly dishes catches your eye.

Little bit of everything. Can't decided which I like more. Mushroom tart, fish, lamb neck, smash burger, green beans, the big guy is a rib.

BBQ Lamb w. Free range egg on cheddar thyme biscuit

Whoa my breakfast biscuit was phenomenal! I was in town visiting my foodie bestie (@amandatheepicure) for her birthday. She has a collection of places she wants to visit and this was on it. Blacksauce Kitchen is a catering spot that is only open on Thursdays and Saturdays for normal takeout. The menu is constantly changing. On this visit, during the first weekend of November, we enjoyed an incredible barbeque lamb with free range egg on cheddar thyme biscuit. The lamb melted in our mouths and it was an explosion of delicious flavors. The cheddar thyme biscuit complimented the whole dish and really brought it together. It was so yummy. It was also a huge serving that had me saving half of the sandwich for later. Our other friend ordered a normal biscuit and their potato hash which was also yummy and unique with bits of apple in it. I'd highly recommend checking this spot out.

i continue to check out their food at the farmers market, but i have graduated to visiting their brick and mortar location too. they have a different menu every week, so check their instagram on wednesday afternoons if you want to know what they're dishing up for the week. i am still obsessed with their biscuit sandwiches, but i have also tried some of their dinner options on thursdays as well. their brick and mortar location has limited seating, but on a cold day there has always been a spot for me to chill and eat my food as most people take it to go. the most recent thing i got was the fried chicken box, which comes with a biscuit, mac and cheese, and your choice of dark or white meat with a hot honey drizzle. they do an excellent fried chicken here, both dark and white. it's perfectly crispy and compliments the biscuit so well. i don't like cheese so i can't comment on the mac, but my friend says their mac and cheese is next-level. as always, the service is amazing and the people working the counter are so pleasant and i look forward to chit-chatting with them when i come in. i have made it part of my wednesday routine to check their menu, and i will continue to patronize them until i am physically incapable of it.

Another incredible sandwich from Blacksauce Kitchen. We ordered the Fried pork loin with rhubarb jam from the store and it was freshly prepared and was extremely delicious. The sweetness and acidity of the jam did a great job balancing out the fatty pork loin. A perfect weekend spot to hit!

Only open for in-person biscuits and such on Thursday and Saturday mornings; otherwise, order ahead online or catch them at farmers markets (e.g., 32nd St Waverly). The barbecue lamb and egg on large buttermilk biscuit was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Note: Selections change often. Other than one booth and stools along a wall table, there are a few benches outside. As it was drizzling, I chose a stool--and then it got busy! There is also wall where local works are showcased. I've already been back or ordered online! Further note: Parking is metered on this busy street, but then you have to drive down oneway streets to park on 2-hr. side streets--which I do! Watch out for traffic! Although Blacksauce Kitchen is in Remington, there is only a Get Shredded Vintage and 29th Street Tavern along this somewhat barren, small industrial buildings area. However, a short stroll up the street has more places to see.

The best biscuits ever! We had them at the farmers market and they were still amazing. The chicken biscuits were to die for! We went again the next week and the flavors had changed, still good but less flavorful. I will be coming again

I finally stopped in after getting a recommendation to come here years ago. I'm so glad I did because the food SLAPPED. I got a skirt steak sandwich, mezcal glazed ribs, and wood roasted broccoli as well as a ginger sticky bun. What a meal! I liked the flavors of the skirt steak the best. It is a bit spendy but can't put a price on good food. The best thing is their menu changes every week. It's also a family run business and black owned. I can't wait to come back and try more food!

After all, it'd been on our radar since Tom Sietsema's 2019 review in the Washington Post but, because it's located a long way from us, we hadn't made the effort. We're so glad we made the trip to Baltimore this past Thursday for what wound up being a magical evening. The staff was exceptional: Eliza and George greeted us warmly ("that's quite the hat!"). George led us to table #4...the perfect choice (thanks Eliza!) as I'd had my eye on that table thanks to web-based interior shots of Charleston. Jocelyn, our Server, was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable when it came to the daily menu, the evening's specials, and the daunting wine list. It's no wonder Charleston was a 2025 James Beard Foundation award winner for its "Outstanding Wine & Other Beverages Program." Thanks to Jocelyn's Busser, Dionicio, our water glasses were never empty and we had a constant supply of muffins, sourdough, and the best cornbread ever! He was the master of unobtrusive service. Ah, but whatabout the food?! Perfection. Champagne followed by Chef's welcoming sippable soup set the stage for a mix-and-match tasting tour. Potato & Beer soup, Lettuce & Beet salad, and Grilled Tenderloin for me and Zucchini Beignets, Lettuce & Beet salad, and White Truffle Fettuccine for her. All simply confirmed that Chef Wolf and her kitchen staff are at the top of their game. We finished the evening with our complementary desserts (Almond Pound Cake, Cashew & Dark Chocolate Vegan Cheesecake) and coffee. Even the chocolate Macarons, a parting treat, were delicious. Finally, a word about the room. "Calming" comes to mind. Never hurried. Conversation was easy. Very much appreciated nowadays where, even in upper tier restaurants, it's a struggle to hear your tablemates. All-in-all, a wonderful birthday evening made possible by Charleston Restaurant Baltimore.

The major hiccup we experienced was my gluten free lamb shank pasta being sent to the vegetarian sitting at the table next to us. Watching this unfold and the server's exasperated reaction was very awkward. That being said, the manager (or maitre d?)'s graceful handling of the situation thereafter was great. He told us what happened, played it off well, explained that it would be a bit of a wait for our next course as a result, and ended up comping all our wine. Really classy touch. However, even after the long wait for the pasta, it was ultimately under-salted under-seasoned and not impressive at all. As much as I appreciate the gluten free option, I wish I had just gotten something else especially after all that trouble! The rest of the service throughout the night was also oddly paced. We ordered less courses than last year (only three) but we were there for almost four hours. Tables around us who arrived after us were served their first courses before we even had a chance to order. We were asked to pick out a wine first before choosing our food and since we weren't sure what we were eating, we weren't ready to select a wine. Even just getting the food menu took a bit of waiting around. Our server didn't inquire about any food allergies either so it was tough making decisions when I wasn't sure what was gluten free - and this was an allergy that was noted in our reservation, too. At another point, I asked for a glass of red wine three different times until finally the maitre d grabbed it for me after the pasta debacle happened. As for the rest of my meal, the scallops and lobster soup were both yummy but not anything life changing. However, my boyfriend's lamb chop dish was very very delicious. The one bite I had, paired with the pomegranates, was heaven. By the way, they offer gluten free bread service too. Has the Charleston lost their touch after the recent James Beard press? I'm not sure but I do hope they step things back up again. You come to expect a little more from an institution like this, especially after being totally blown away last year.
