Came here for afterwork quick drink. it's really close to my apt and penn sta, that's the main reason to come here. Relatively darker ambiance and quiet-side noise level. A couple of TVs around the bar area. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The clientele here seemed to be half local and half tourists. But honestly, absolutely nothing memorable or remarkable... I maybe come back if I need to wait for something around penn station. read more

Blaggard's Pub, what a pleasant surprise. The decor very traditional "Irish Pub" style. Food quality excellent pub style too. The only issue we had here was we had a waitress who was Polish and hardly spoke english. Going to an Irish Pub, I like my waitress with an Irish brogue. Well it turned out to be an interesting dining experience, right before our food came, she took away our cloth napkins and utensils???? We were able to manage eating the onion soup since she did provide us with a spoon, but when our entrees came we still did not get back our napkins and fork and knife! haha! We had to ask for them back, and for some reason she would not give us our cloth napkins back, she gave us paper napkins back!! Now we know whey they had a "Waitress Wanted" sign in the window! Blaggard's does have Irish music entertainment on Sundays at 7pm. We were there too early, but I would love to go back to enjoy this too, hopefully they found a new waitress by then. read more

Blaggs is an average Irish pub with an above average staff. Whenever my girlfriend visits from Toronto Blaggards is our first stop, and we're always treated with the same unforgettable hospitality that keeps us coming back. These guys are the most laid back, accommodating and just all around solid barmen I've had the pleasure of drinking with. The prices aren't mind blowing, but every other bar in the area makes Blaggards look like the dollar-pizza equivalent to drinking. On weekends this place is a notorious hangout for students living at the New Yorker, so if you're in the 21-24 age range it's a decent place to make some new friends. read more

This place is terrible. The food taste like grease, it's dirty and the service sucks. My friends and I had ordered wings and fries. All we could taste was grease. I know this place is a Happy Hour spot, but on this day I was ready to have a good meal. The hostess was very accommodating and understood that I was not interested in the drinking as much as I was their food. I ordered a Blue Moon's Bloody Mary's these were all good, but my Quesadilla was REALLY GOOD! I honestly had low expectations, but this was one of the best Quesadilla's I had in a while. I mean everything was nice and fresh, the guacomole was so tasty and there was the right amount of cheese right around not to mention the nice flacky buttery crust. I can say, I was honestly surprised at the quality of food, just because bars don't really have solid food, it usually swings below par, but Blaggards worked it out. This is not a huge bar, but we always managed to find a place to chill... The main thing for me here was the ambiance... Super chilled, good music, variety of people, lots of fun, laughs, people from all over the world were drinking their faces off, random rocker dudes hanging outside... sigh... good times. I had heard about this place, especially as a venue for parties, so I decided to check it out after work. Went on a Thursday night and saw there was a huge bar with an extremely lively happy hour going on. I wasn't too excited about how loud the music was until I was seated in the lovely, spacious dining room near the back of the restaurant that was a much more manageable volume level. Per the recommendation of the waitress I ordered "Margarita" cocktail, which was excellent. Super simple and not too sweet, worth the price. When we ordered our entrees (Steak and the Salmon) we were told we would have to wait for 25 minutes to get the order. The waitress was nice about it and suggested we order an appetizer in the meantime. We got their special nachos and were extremely pleased with both the appetizer and entree (especially the Steak!). Upon leaving we inquired about the possibility of hosting an office event at the restaurant and were given the event planner's information and the possibility of a free happy hour. I would definitely come back here, both for dinner and to an office happy hour or party. A decent irish pub, but nothing that stands out , Old pub decor that is kinda outdated, but has its charm. the bar has tvs all across, and some high stools and tables to grab a bite. more of an older crowd of regulars but a few folks on their lunch break, good mix of pub grub, like burgers, salads, shepherds pie, chicken sandwiches, etc. full bar menu, with prices that are fair. my app of calamari was crispy and lightly breaded not rubbery like some other dives and the turkey club was on point on soft italian bread, it was smoked and had a slight hickory taste, all good and the fries were steak type and a meal in its self , no room for dessert. a decent pub near my work area, i will be back to try other menu offerings. read more

It's a good place to be when your wife is shopping at Lord&Taylors across the street. Kind of quiet and laid back. Spent the early afternoon here on a weekday and had a good time. Bartender was very attentive and courteous. If you want good service and a couple of quick beers while the wife shops, then this is a solid place. This place could be good but its not. Its very spacious, its got that "Irish Pub" feel, but its just something about it that isn't right. Maybe its their very expensive(for pub food) menu or their attempt to be a music venue. But something just isnt quite right when youre having a pint of Guiness talking to friends and some kids start playing pots and pans in the corner while having to eat $12 fish and chips. The only reason I give them 2 stars is because they do tend to have good beer specials. If you want a better time hit OBW two doors down. read more

Walked into this place yesterday on a whim while heading to Macy*s. It wasn't crowded, which was perfect. The atmosphere was very casual and laid back, which is what we needed after that terrible crowd at New York Comic Con. Pat ordered a turkey club and I got potato skins. Both came out fairly quick, and were delicious. The beer was exceptionally cold as well, whcih was perfect. The cost between us was only $45, so inexpensive to boot! Went for lunch today had the poppers, Cajun salmon salad and my companion had Shepard pie. Wine selection pretty low brow-Woodbridge Chardonnay is all they offered for chard but the food was very good. Bartender was great Irish chap very attentive. Little pricey for lunch but it's Manhatten. Wish they had some of those 12.95 lunch with one drink deals that many pubs offer in the area. Very clean nice atmosphere. read more

I heard the bartenders are very cool... but the server at happy hour sucked. She wanted to banish us into a dark corner of the empty bar because our party wasn't big enough... Maybe she had it in for me because I didn't move into a dark corner and stayed while she threatened to kick me out when a bigger party arrived. I gave her instructions to SHAKE a dry martini as I watch her at the bar, she stirs the heavy vermouth drink... I didn't say anything; I choked it down. I switched to Kettle/Club with LIME... easy at ALL other places. Then I WATCH her make my "Kettle One" pouring out of a well vodka bottle with a LEMON, hands it to me, I taste it and tell her it's not Kettle and informed her that I WATCHED her make it. I told her I wanted limes and she LIES again telling me they were out of limes! I'm of an age, you serve me well vodka you will ruin an entire day with a hangover... and I'M PAYING FOR KETTLE!!! I was told I made a scene (my voice was loud because the music was loud)... so the customer not only gets lied to, apparently that stupid women is allowed to serve me what ever SHE wants... Actually not as bad as I thought, (reading the previous reviews). I played there last night, and the sound system wasn't that bad. Quite better than the last establishment I played at, Rockstar where I couldn't even hear my loud guitar. Though, the first band since it brought in 30 people played almost an hour. And that does not include its 30-45 minute soundcheck. There were 5 bands which were selected most randomly. First a 9 piece jazz band, a Jersey acoustic duo, a glam rock band, a reggae band, and a hard rock band. I think the last didn't go on till around 2:30 though I luckily got out of there before then. The decoration was nice and Irish though with all the conflicting genres and scenes it didn't feel that smooth. read more

this place is pretty great, the food is regular bar food but it is very good. bartenders are very nice and i must say bathrooms are always super clean which is a big plus as a woman. Also i must add that every saturday blaggard's host a private party that has a charge, some people don't know that and they get mad. so you know saturday;s after 10pm it become goddess bbw club. Every other day it's blaggard's pub, also the dj rocks after 10 pm on saturdays. if you want a irish bar this is a great place, and if your willing to pay a extra charge on saturdays and love big girls this is the place to be saturday nights.. if you don't want to pay the charge and don't like big girls just don't go saturday nights.. great food great drinks. thumbs up read more

Blaggards doesn't pack a bunch of bells and whistles, or have the greatest selection of beers, but it does have a lot of space, a very long bar with enough TVs to catch a game comfortably, and one of the friendliest staffs I've experienced for NYC. I especially like that all of the bartenders are Irish, know what they are doing and treat you like a regular whether its your first time or your 100th time. The food is pretty good as well, I haven't had anything that I could complain about or wouldn't have again. In short, if you are looking for an Irish bar with a friendly feel and a great staff in Midtown, Blaggards is your spot in my opinion. read more

I'm in the City four to five times a month on business. Blaggards is the pub of choice for good, fresh food whether it be lunch or dinner or just cocktails. Blaggards is convenient and reasonably priced. In a city full of eateries, this is a perfect spot. Three of us stopped in Blaggards last evening after an all-day meeting in the city. We had a few beers; I had a burger that was grilled to perfection, one co-worker couldn't get enough of the wings and the other gorged on Blaggards' Own Special Nachos. Our compliments to the Chef! Blaggards is a nice, friendly pub! Though we wound up staying way longer at the bar then we should have, we were able to get to the train quickly because GCT is only 5 blocks away. I went here with a group of 6 for a bite on a Saturday around 7pm. We were seated quickly, the place was busy but not overly busy. One of the guests ordered the skirt steak... then we were told there was no steak..hmmmmm. The waitress suggested the shepherds pie and stated people come there for it and it one of their best items. This was hands down the absolute worst imitation of shepherds pie I ever had in my life. This meal consisted of some chopped meat (possibly a frozen burger) with watery potatoes (likely from a box) and some vegetables very lightly added in. I also ordered the belgium curly fries. They were out of these also so they just substituted some steak fries (without asking) They say this is loaded with cheese and bacon but it is definitely not , I could barely see the cheese when this arrived after the dinner. I gave it 2 stars because the drinks were reasonably priced and the staff was friendly. read more

Went back to Blaggard's and noticed that they've been upgraded from a C rating to an A.... mazel tov!! I still didn't eat anything while there, but the bartender made some mean gin & tonics, and when I asked him for a "girly" shot, he made a strawberry shortcake something-or-other and it was delicious. I stop in here frequently for a drink or two with friends. It's never too crowded, the service is quick and the prices are decent, especially for the neighborhood. They have excellent pub fare- fries, shepherds pie etc. The bartenders are friendly and they keep a variety of sports on the TVs. A great place to unwind at the end of a long day. read more
