I had problems installing a headlamp that I purchased at F&F a few weeks back. I stopped in to the service department and they fit me in. The charge was going to be $13, which I was more than happy to pay since I was unsuccessful in my attempts. The auto tech who properly installed the bulb said he wouldn't charge me since it only took him a minute to do. I was there for maybe 15 minutes total, and the work was done for free! That is what I'd call excellent customer service! Thank you F&F! read more

Just finished a shopping trip and the side of the store that we browsed through was just one giant mess. The organization of products just laying all around and quite honestly creates a tripping hazard. There are areas that merchandise was just laying all over the floor or covers walkways. The pictures can give you a sense of the disorganization in this store. Cashier was fairly friendly, however upon check out, the signature that shows up on the screen looks completely different from the one that was actually signed. So technology also somehow "disorganized" in a sense too. Anyhow, it's hard to warrant a trip over to this store when there are other home hardware options around the area. Since I haven't gotten to explore the whole store, I imagine there might be other hidden gems around the store that I haven't gotten a chance to see. Nonetheless, it'll be hard to see if we'll back anytime soon. read more

took my Toro snowblower in January 6th (it wouldn't start). They said they cleaned the carburetor- charged me $90. Went to start it before first January snow and it didn't start. Took it back into the shop. it is now almost the end of February and still no snowblower. I've been over there at least 4 or 5 times. keep getting promises and nothing gets done. Broken promises and lies. Next step will be to pick it up and try and get a refund for the work they apparently didn't do. read more

Automotive You can call in to make an appointment but be aware that you might be on hold for 5-10minutes. This is why I go in person to make an appointment. I got my tires from Farm and Fleet and because of that my tires are always checked and the tire rotation is free every time I request it with my oil change. Store It's pretty organized. Lots of seasonal products that shift. Pet selection is good. I get my dog's piggy sticks treats and blue Buffalo food here. I usually pick up random things that I may need while I'm waiting for my oil change to get done such as toilet paper, paper towels, baby clothes that are on sale for my friends' kids...roasted nuts. Everyone is friendly and nice. I would recommend it to other folks. read more

I don't often find myself here, but when I do I usually stumble across some kind of fortuitous deal. On my most recent trip it was 99 cent stick lighters - an item I've needed for weeks but refuse to pay four dollars for. On a trip a couple years ago, they had fairy food (the best of the seasonal Christmas candies) for like, two bucks. Neither is what would draw me to Farm and Fleet (usually I'm going in search of some winter item like snow pants that have sold out at other retailers), but it's those random things that make me think I should put them a little higher on the list. On my last visit I was with someone who needed a work tool and we scanned the aisle up and down for the brand he needed. We couldn't find it, so we asked an employee. She wasn't familiar with the tool, so she radioed for another person. He wasn't familiar with the tool either, but knew who would know and walked us to him. That associate walked us to the proper aisle showed us exactly what we needed. Yes, it was a little roundabout, but I appreciated that they kept asking down the line until they found it instead of just sending us in a general direction. While randomly browsing I found some more practical deals for things like outlet extenders (or whatever they're called - they plug into the wall and give you three spots instead of one) so I'll have to keep them in my back pocket when I need basic home improvement-type supplies. read more

I want to say this location is more popular than the Verona one. I have never really had an issue at Farm & Fleet. Then again, I really only stop in every now and then to pick up something for the horse or dogs or rabbit. Their prices are fairly decent for animal stuff. I can't really speak to the other items in the store. I get the circulars, so the price always looks good! The cashiers are pretty nice, though sometimes a little slow when doing things, but I'm from the Northeast, impatience runs in my veins. read more

Came here for a tire replacement after some complications with other mechanics. One had no tires that would fit my car despite the fact that I had an appointment. The second told me that although they had "tried everything", they were unable to remove the damaged tire from my car. The second mechanic referred me here. The mechanics at Farm and Fleet were able to remove my damaged tire in less than five minutes, and quickly replaced it with my new tire. They had an hour wait, but it was an an emergency situation and I think they felt bad for me, so they got me in right away. They even let me stand in the back of the shop and watch them replace the tire (I'm extremely mechanically challenged, so I try to learn as much as I can if I have the opportunity). One of the mechanics made sure to give me the number for the auto center, and I will definitely visit them the next time I need any auto help. read more

We got a $50 gift card after buying tires here and purchased 3 pairs of boots for one of our children, not knowing what would be the best fit. What we didn't notice at the time is that they split the $50 gift card across the different items. Then when we came to return the items that didn't fit they only gave us back the discounted item price and therefore we lost most of the value of the gift card. They would not allow us to apply the gift card toward one item. The manager we talked to was less than helpful and said she couldn't help us because she didn't want to lose her job. read more

There's a certain gleam that my dad gets in his eye when he talks about Farm & Fleet. It's a pretty special place for men. Especially dads. Where else can you get your tires fixed while browsing the big and tall overalls, pig vaccines, Weber grills, ear tags for livestock, canoes, light bulbs, chain, odd sweatshirts of 2 ducks kissing for the ladies, and tiki torches to spruce up the yard? They also have a huge selection of toys for kids at Christmastime. That was always my favorite part. One time when I was like 8, I was looking at the toys, and I thought I was walking alongside my dad, and when I looked up, it was totally someone else. I thought my parents left without me, and I was freaked out. I found them of course, but it shows how completely mesmerizing Farm & Fleet can be. read more

I like the Farm & Fleet chain, and this is as good a location as any I've been too. If you don't know F&F they have a nice mix of practical clothing, basic housewares, lawn and garden stuff, bikes & wagons, farm goods, automotive, hardware, lawn mowers and tractors, ATVs, camping supplies, paint, sheds, brooms, mops & biuckets, cake pans, blenders and other small appliances, lodge cast iron cookware (!) and seasonal items. (not seasonal junk you don't need ot frippery in seasonal colors, good stuff - a big toy department around the holidays, extra camping or hunting stuff in season, canning supplies in fall, gardening supplies in spring, out-door toys in summer.) Good price and selection of sizes on Carhardt overalls, boots, etc. in Mens, Women's & Children's sizes, They have some farm type stuff in case you're raising chickens or rabbits, horses, dog houses, bird feeding supplies. I picked up a machete, some holiday lights and extension cords, a laundry basket, a small fire-pit, an ax, some canning supplies, a pretty stained glass lamp, some batteries, a cheap pair of winter boots, wool socks, a low-cost wheelbarrow, some sidewalk chalk, and a whiffle ball set, all of which performed as well or better as expected for the price. It's not uncommon to hear people laughing in the store that if the Farm & Fleet doesn't have it, you probably don't really need it, and I'd have to agree. I've never bought anything here, taken it home, and found out it was a piece of junk, unlike pretty much every other big box store, plus the staff has always been 100% friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. I almost gave one star off for not having some of the more primitive type houseware stuff I like (they carry borax and white vinegar only sometimes) and no organics at all, but what the heck - now that Marshal Fields is closed the F&F is the only big box / department store on earth that I don't actually hate to walk into, sometimes it's even fun - when I get bored shopping for dull stuff I actually need (laundry baskets) I can have a little fun looking at cool stuff I don't need like ATVs, fishing lures, porch swings, grills, fancy coolers, pedal cars, tents, etc. etc. etc. Did you see the one where Hank Hill says he likes buying his pants and hammers at the same place so he can see how they look together? While I really can't say anything was wrong with our trip here-we were politely assisted with finding another size of shoes, asked again if we needed assistance in patio and bypassed other customers receiving friendly help-I just didn't have a comfortable vibe in this store. The selection really is decent. My husband wanted leather cleaning wipes for the random sticky spot by the booster seat in the van and we found those easily. There's fishing supplies, outdoor items, hardware and a surprisingly decent clothing and shoe displays. The prices are good-Sketchers kid shoes were $25-30. It was a competitive price on the adult sandals and shoes as well. Aisles are narrow, there are a few broken tiles on the floor, but the store was clean and well-staffed. It was a Saturday afternoon, so there were probably more shoppers than average, but it felt very claustrophobic in this store regardless of the bright light and high ceilings. But if you need lawn items, fishing supplies or farm animal (or pet) items you will find good prices and a decent selection. You'll also find fun random items such as a swinging hammock that is incredibly comfy and an assortment of garden gnomes. read more

I've tried having a trailer re-wired there and every single time I have even called before going there and when I get there they don't do the service. This store is under heavy construction. That being said, I walked in and thought I was in a bomb shelter that just took a bunker buster. To be fair I didn't spend much time in there, but that's because I was scared that zombies would come lurching around the corner at any moment. Here's a real waste of time. I make a trip to buy a truck battery that's advertised to be on sale. Guy at the tire desk gets all my vehicle information and still gives me the wrong size battery. When I got home I look at the receipt, he charged me full price! Also, the battery was not the right size. Man was I mad. The sale price and regular price are a real moving target at Farm and Fleet in Madison. I went back and told a lady at the tire desk what went wrong, and got an attitude. I said, please give me my money back. That really sent her off the edge. So, with my refund I go to Fleet Farm in DeForest, and get treated like a King. Right battery for my truck and a better price. They didn't order my tires the first time and got my appointment time wrong the second time and wanted me to wait for hours. I would not recommend buying any type mowing equipment snow blowers anything that might need to be serviced. They hire part-time employees they are two months behind I'm doing warranty repairs they won't offer a loaner and unless you can find cattle to graze your lawn you will have to buy another mower while you wait for your mower to be repaired. There really aren't a lot of deals here. The employees don't seem to know a whole lot, but rather seem to be glorified shelf stockers. I find the occasional deal on dog toys, but they have a whole box of dog toys that are supposed to talk or make animal sounds, but all the batteries are dead. It's been like that for months, yet I see employees moving things around that area a lot. You don't notice the broken dog toys?? The whole place has a heavy smell of tires. Maybe farm people don't mind or notice it, but it gives me a headache after a very short time, thus limiting my time available to shop there. I took my car here to get a new tire. It was honestly the worst place to take my car. My roters were shot so I let them replace them & a new tire. They told me it'll be around $200 and take about 2 hours. 3 hours later they come out with the paper for me to sign and it said $600 for like 3 extra things they wanted to add. There was miscommunication between employees because I was never told that. They did the work for me but I only paid the $200. 5-6 hours later I got my car back with my trunk not put back the way it was, my donut was pushing the floorboard up & the carpet wasn't in right. It was a mess. Also, I have low profiles & my car is lowered to the ground and for some reason the tire they worked on isn't even on correctly. I know this because there's only a cm between my tire and car. Now, 5 month later and I haven't had any issues and haven't taken my car anywhere else and I come to realize my lug nut wretch is missing.... I have after market lug nuts and I have a specific wretch and it's gone! I'm not saying they took it but I'm not saying they didn't. I hope they don't do this to all their costumers but I know I'll never be returning to this place again. read more

This review is for tires/automotive - I made an appointment (the only time they take appointments) to get my '06 VW Jetta an alignment. I got there at the appointment time. 45 minutes later I saw my car still sitting in the lot. I asked the guy at the counter and he said he would check with the technician. He came back shortly thereafter and apologized and said they couldn't do an alignment on my car because it was a VW and they didn't have the right tools. What a joke. Thanks for wasting my time. So I want to CV Pros on East Wash and they had me in and out in an hour! That's the last time I will get my car serviced at Farm and Fleet in Madison. read more

I made an appointment to check out a rumble in the front end of my 2006 Trailblazer. They basically had me come when they opened and there were several people waiting who were taken care of first. I didn't have a ride and chose to wait because they didn't offer a ride or loaner. They said it would take about 5 hours. After an initial inspection, they determined I would need all new shocks, brakes, struts, etc etc plus alignment. Since the car rode fine except for the recent rumble showed up, I was very disappointed at having to put a new suspension in, but was told it would solve my problems. After about six hours of waiting I began to complain about the time and the fact no one was working on my car. The old guy who wrote me up seemed a little befuddled and mumbled something about wires getting crossed. An hour later, the car was moved out to the alignment rack and soon after another guy drove it from the rack to the door of the waiting area. $1500 bucks!!! They never even road tested it. You guessed it....as I drove away I noticed the familiar rumble. I made a complaint to the store manager. After checking with the boys in the shop, he basically called me a liar. There was a new theory about the rumble being caused by the tires. This may be true and would have been a much less expensive repair. You can imagine my skepticism since my tires had only about 15k miles on them and had been purchased at Farm and Fleet. They did not offer any new deal on tires. read more

This review is only for the painting department. Although, for most departments at Farm & Fleet you will get the help you need by a knowledgeable person. We had almost no idea where to start with our painting needs. We were doing 5 rooms. After looking at colors for a bit one of the employees, Koua, came to see if we needed help. We were given advice on the type of paint we needed, why one was better or different than another. The difference in price vs quality. We were shown and again explained the difference the rollers and brushes. None of those things were done with the attitude that if we didn't by the most expensive our rooms would look awful. We ended up using the F&F brand. One of the paints turned out to not be the color we expected. The color was what I had picked, so the 'mistake' was my error. I brought it back in and it was changed to exactly what I was looking for. Another employee, Mickey, even explained why one color would work vs another. If your thinking about painting, one room or many, make Farm & Fleet your first stop. The prices are competitive and the helpful staff made the whole experience stress free. read more

1 star is pushing it. We were in this store on Sunday. When we walked in, my keycard from my job set the door alarms off. The employees at the front desk proceeded to tell me that they needed to "investigate" why the alarms were going off. Because I was entering the store and knew why they were going off, I refused to let them "investigate." They continued to harass me about "investigating" my purse. I would've understood if I was leaving the store, but I was entering the store with nothing but a small purse and money to spend in their store. Bad customer service! First, I showed up at the "wrong" time for my service appointment even though I showed up at the time the customer service rep had scheduled me for over the phone. Later, I had to call customer service to confirm my car was done since they forgot to call me. Third, once I arrived to get my car, the customer service rep didn't ask for my name and assumed I was someone else. They pulled up the wrong name and car in the system and I had to correct them twice before they pulled up my correct name and car. Also, I've made appointments a few times over the phone and I'm never on hold for less than five-six minutes each time. read more
