This is a hidden experience! My wife and I finished up shopping at a local King Soopers and we just did not feel like going home and cooking, so we stopped into Blakes Taphouse. We were craving the bite and fullness of dark beers and we were not disappointed. We got a flight of the Graham Cracker Porter, a Milk Stout, the Sad Panda Stout, and the "Wake Up the Dead" Stout. All of them were so yummy with and exactly what you would anticipate based on their names and descriptions. After the flight, we had pints of the Milk Stout. For food, we ordered the special, which was the mushroom truffle burger. Any chef would be proud to produce that burger. It was the right balance of spicy meat flavors with the truffle and garlic, with perfectly sautéed chewy mushrooms and cheese. What was a conveniently solution for dinner at the end of a hard day turned into a wonderful experience of great food with great beer. read more

We love this place. Great staff, great atmosphere, and always a good time. They have an excellent drink menu and everything I've tried on the menu has been amazing. It's a simple fun place to go meet your buddies, take your family, or go on a date. They really have something special going on there. After reading numerous great reviews about Blake's Taphouse, posted on the Erie Facebook group, I finally got to visit this place. Let me tell you... the rumors are true! The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. I ordered the nachos and they were very carefully layered so that each tortilla chip had a little bit of everything, plus they were delicious. Hubby ordered wings and he was very pleased with his choice of dry rub and my son had a pizza which he devoured in like 10 seconds. Can't wait to go back and try different things; the only downside was that they only carry local spirits which means no Tito's Vodka and no Bacardi. Nonetheless, if you are a beer drinker (which we are not) you're gonna be more than satisfied with all the beer options. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Blake's! read more

I took my food home to cook it myself since we were being pushed out and I didn't dare ask to send it back to get cooked. We made it very clear when we came in we needed food and they said that would be totally fine and that they would even get us a second round of drinks since we came in right at the mark, when we asked we were told no even though our server approved it upon first drink order. read more

Very bad experience! First, this place is claiming that the doors need to remain open due to Covid. It was blazing hot inside (it was a 97 degree day) so we chose to sit outside hoping for a mild breeze. They didn't want to open the umbrella because of said mild breeze...... so we went from hot to hotter! What I find interesting is that of all the restaurants we have visited during Covid not one of them have had their doors open and it's nice and comfortable inside with the A/C running. Secondly, we were harassed about having our service dog sitting in her bag on the chair; they requested she sit in her bag on the ground. This is against the law & I will be pursuing this. As we sit at our table, looking over the menu some guy ambushes our table after staring us down since the moment he got out of his vehicle and starts asking about our dog. At this point it's been confrontational enough and not knowing who this person was that came up to us asking about our dog (thinking we were about to get harassed again) I was getting more irritated by the minute. I had to ask who he was and it was the owner. So why didn't he come up to us and introduce himself FIRST??? We were not in the mood to chat about our dog; we were hungry and tired from a long day! All we wanted at this point was to be left alone to look over the menu, eat and drink. But rather we get this guy's smug & confrontational attitude. Rather than apologizing and de-escalating the situation he made it worse!! He kept standing there and antagonizing us until the point he said he could refuse us service! Not to worry we said we were leaving as he rudely opened the gate and acted an ass. This guy with his attitude will never make it! Here's a tip; learn customer service and when a customer has already been confronted multiple times leave them alone!! Let them be and let them try to turn around their experience!! Make an apology & ask what you can do! Do NOT stand there and confront your customers with your stare down and make things worse! Not a good way to open a business especially under the circumstances! In addition, Mr. owner was NOT wearing a mask and was within 3' of us!!!! Needless to say I do NOT recommend this place!!!!! In response to your RIDICULOUS, EXAGGERATED response; I was walking to the bathroom and forgot to wear my mask and after three steps someone approached me and asked me to put it on on which I did and apologized for forgetting and her repose was 'oh no worries I forget too' OMG are you guys for real!? Numerous times?? Wow trying to make a 'case' are we? And nobody harassed us about our service dog? REALLY? You guys are pathetic! If that's the best you got, best to ya! People AVOID this place! They are LIARS on top of narcissist's! Went to Blake's Taphouse recently and really enjoyed it. Great local establishment with solid food choices and great beet selection. The only thing I hope they add to the menu in the future is french fries. Service was impeccable and the owner check in with us before we left. Such a disappointment. The hostess was rude and rolled her eyes when I asked to sit outside (there were 5 open tables on the patio). The server was decent. I ordered the boneless wings and tater tots, both of which were undercooked, under seasoned, and borderline inedible. Would have loved to had a great experience at this neighborhood spot. read more

Don't go to this place!!! One of the owners challenged a young man (looked under 18) to a physical fight in the restaurant!!! The young man was being respectful and courteous until the owner literally got in his face and threatened him. A business like this doesn't deserve the patronage of our community. I went in Blake's Taphouse yesterday and they had a "Wait to be Seated" sign. As I entered, I said hi to the hostess and said I going to sit at the bar, there was may 4-5 people there, she said no problem and I proceeded to sit at the bar to do some work on my laptop. Saw some friends, chatted and worked and left. I went back this evening, saw the same hostess, said hi, she responded and proceeded to the bar to again work on some stuff and have a beer. As I make my way to the bar a middle-aged male came up to me and said can I help you. I said, no I was just going to the bar... he said that the sign said, "Wait to be Seated", and that I should obey the sign and the waitstaff! First, all establishments that I've encountered use the "Wait to be Seated" for tables, not the bar top. Second, the place was maybe a third full and two people were at the bar which had a dozen, plus seats; and the host passed me on the previous evening, so not thinking that I had to be treated that I was in the DMV line for my license renewal. He may have been the owner or manager, and I said I would not do that again and left Blake's Taphouse and will not go back again. Never experienced such poor management, especially in a relatively new establishment (less than 2 years old)... especially during such challenging times in the restaurant industry. Lastly, the beers are overpriced, IMO. Rob L. the owner of Blakes Tavern Just responded to my post. First and foremost, see how he responds in a condescending, arrogant and non "can I win your business next time" way that all successful businesses engage with. Second, I engaged his hostess, said hi and she said hi back and with a mask on, thought it was the same young person as the prior evening. She didn't say anything to me as I moved on. Third, no bar seats their bar top from the hostess. I was never disrespectful to anyone, actually greeted the hostess and heard her response before moving on, wore my mask and when confronted by the owner, left without any confrontation. The beers are expensive, but I was meeting friends, so I came back. Not again. Lastly, an owner who treats their current or future customers this way and actually disparages them in their posted response on a public review site will eventually be pouring his own beers at his business for himself. I was there once, then came back and engaged their staff as you see from postings in a respectful way. My husband and I came in with our 6 month old. We know most taphouses aren't family oriented, but we were pleasantly surprised how accommodating everyone was. The hostess gave us options on tables and we got a cozy corner table booth. The server was quick to come to our table and didn't rush us with drink decisions. He offered water with some samples of beers. Per person, you get three samples which is plenty. We enjoyed the variety of dark beers on tap and was able to find one to go with dinner. For food, my husband and I love pretzels and beer cheese. Their's was one of the best! For entrees, we did the burger and the pastrami sandwich which came with a big portion of chips. Normally I don't prefer chips, but they were some of the best I have tried. I saved the Beer cheese to dip them in. The waiter and owner checked on us a few times. They were all friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We will be going back to keep this great establishment in business! read more

Horrible first and last time experience. Came in Friday 01/22 and put name in for 30 min wait. Received call table was ready and got to door in 2:36 seconds. Was told table was given away since we didn't answer call even though we did answer their call and spoke to a member there. Even though I was surprised table was given away. I was told I was wrong. Called manager after I left and he was rude, wouldn't give me his name asked who I was and why I was calling. Sad we'll never go there again! We have been to Blake's twice and had a great experience both times! My husband has enjoyed his beers and as a non-beer drinker myself I really appreciate that they have wine. I don't write a lot of reviews, but just had to give my opinion on this one. The food and atmosphere here are great. There is something for everyone. I am not a beer drinker and still find great beverages to sip with my beer loving friends. As this is a Taphouse, I was not expecting the food to be so dialed-in. I am very picky (read: a pain in the butt) about food and have gone back to Blakes to specifically order the brisket nachos. Delicious, huge portion and very clearly high quality ingredients in the cheese and meat. I have tried nachos other places, and these are a YES! My husband and I tried Blake's Taphouse. We knew going in that the menu was limited but we were Ok with just ordering a burger and pastrami sandwich. First, the ambiance.....we felt like we were sitting in someone's garage. Very spartan, cement floors, drafty, and loud. Second, the food. If you are only going to serve a few items, they better be great. I ordered a medium well burger. It was more than well done. Very thin and dry. I could get a much better burger at Freddie's for 1/3 of the price. My husbands pastrami sandwich was OK but very small. Not worth the $15. Third, I wanted a glass of wine. Per their website, besides beer they offered a selection of premium wines. They had a paltry selection of budget wine. The only Chardonnay was Knarley Head which runs about $10 per bottle. A glass was $8 and looked like a 4 oz pour. Way overpriced for a mediocre wine. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. We won't be going back. read more
