They are very timely. Arrived when they said they would to check why we didn't have hot water. They Asked my husband what the code was on the tank If you and we told him. I can't remember what it was. Gave us estimate for a new water heater for $6,000 or $7,000. We called a different plumber. They came and cleaned a filter for about $310. We then Google the code and literally it was that something just needed to be cleaned. read more

Do not do business with Blanton's. They only honor their work if you maintain the monthly paid service plan. Their work is beyond shoddy. They send out a very experienced tech at first to get you to agree to the job but when it comes time for installation they send out the bottom-of-the-barrel crew to do the actual work. I hired them to install a Bosh HVAC system ($15k!). Shortly after my included service plan had expired I noticed water leaking through my celling just below the air handler. I called Blanton's and was told that since I'd let my service plan expire (I didn't renew it) that I'd have to pay their service fee to have someone come out as well as pay to have them do the repair. This annoyed me so I called someone else. That technician saw that the leak was coming from the connection where the drain pipe meets the air handler so he filled the cracked, threaded area where the pipe screws into the drain pan with silicone and stopped the leak. I thought it was handled but it was really only masking the real issue. The broken part (the drain pan) was leaking water inside the unit! The drain pan was broken from the very beginning during the initial installation and was never properly addressed. Now instead of draining down the pipe the water was accumulating in the air handler. Eventually after months of accumulated water the sealant used to make the air handler air-tight failed and the drip came back. This time from the compartment housing the coil. This of course did more damage to my ceiling. I called Blanton's again and got the same rhetoric about having to pay them to come out and assess the damage THEY created. So I called someone else (another reputable HVAC co.) This time the tech completely opened the part where the coil is to fully assess where and why the water was being diverted from the drain pipe and accumulating in the unit. Once inside, it was clear that the plastic drain pan was broken and water was running off and filling the unit. This ruined all the insulation inside the unit and caused the sealant to fail and ultimately the water to drip onto my ceiling. With this info I called Blanton's yet again only to be hit with the exact message. You need to pay us to come look at your system. This time I asked for a manager (which I should have done from the first). The manager dispatched a senior level tech to assess the situation (at no cost to me). After reviewing they decided they were not going to fix the issue and offered nothing by way of rectifying the situation. The email the manager (Beverly) sent me basically blamed the other techs who simply revealed the issue. They did not cause it. I hovered over the tech while he removed the sealing tape and opened the compartment. He had to bend part of the panel to remove it but he did not break the drain pan. That part had been broken all along. I am disgusted with Blanton's and will never do business with them again. read more

Caution! High Prices and Anxiety Ahead!! We hired Blanton's to replace a leaking shut-off valve under our kitchen sink, and to install a new stem in the cold-water Fawcett of our master bath. The work was done professionally, and took less than30 minutes to complete. The Good: The plumber's communication was excellent. At all times we knew where he was and when he would arrive. The Bad: We had to pay a whopping $420 for work that took less than 30 minutes to complete! The Ugly: When we commented that the price seemed high, the plumber told us he quotes the fee on the front end, after considering all that could go wrong. The Unbelievable: If on the back end nothing went wrong, shouldn't the fee be adjusted to be less? The Unsettling: Before work started, the plumber asked to inspect our crawl space. We thought this odd since the leak was clearly at the shutoff valve and had nothing to do with the piping under the house. After a few minutes he emerged and presented us with photos of our 30-year-old copper pipes, stating that we had lots of corrosion. Well, to us, green residue on copper as old as ours was entirely normal. And we had no issues with how things were working, except for, of course, the shut-off valves. We immediately suspected we were being set up for some sort of scare campaign that would surely involve a huge bill to fix. Thankfully, we abide by the adage: "If it's not broke, don't fix it." The Last Word: We think if everything went smoothly (less than 30 minutes!), then we should have been charged less than the worst-case front-end estimate. Since no effort was made to adjust the fee down, and since we feel we were tested on the need to address the "corrosion", we have removed Blanton's from our list of go-to trades, and will actively discourage family and friends from using them when the opportunity arises. read more

Just moved in and had no heat. Called Blanton's. Showed up and inspected the HVAC and thermostat. Determined I needed a new pressure switch because it would not work. Offered me a new switch for 520.00 and a thermostat for 490.00.. Said no and would get back to them. House call was 224.00. I hired a handyman who knew HVACs. Determined all was fine. Started it up and charged me 200.00 for the House call and new thermostat. Was it incompetence or an outright scam? read more

I made an appointment to have a toilet and vanity installed. Received a message from Blanton's today (my appointment was today) telling me they need to re-schedule because they had emergencies. In my mind, mine is an emergency and I think it is very poor business practice to make an appt, your customer has to make work arrangements to be home and you call to re-schedule. What you do is tell the "emergency" that you are booked! Better yet, why don't you reserve time every day for emergencies. I told the guy that made the appointment for me that I had seen their on tv while watching the Olympics and was happy to give my business to Blanton's. Looked at the toilets. gave a quote to buy and install two new toilets for $2,500 with no explanation of where the leak is coming from. Blanton's was very prompt in coming to service a sudden blockage affecting both my sink and downstairs toilet. Service charge was reasonable but of course I've lived long enough to always expect to pay more. Part of repair inspection included a camera view of the main drain line which was scheduled a few days later. That tech presented me with a blurred view of a partial block which required my front hedge to be cut in order to access the box to clear the valve. I don't know why I'm always surprised at the expense for water repairs but here we are at the end of another water episode in this home and $1500 to basically put a plastic valve back in it's slot. They are not the first plumber I've used in 17+ years but I do hope it's my last for quite some time. read more

Caution! Severe lack of follow-through! From our first appointment, which was to triage an existing whole-house water filter, through today, it's been a struggle to get anything done without multiple calls and/or emails, including: 1) Installation of the new water filter we agreed to (our appointment was rescheduled three times by Blanton's); *NOTE: We were not told this would be a proprietary Brita model, and that replacement cartridges could be ordered only through Blanton's* 2) Get the warranty/maintenance paperwork for said new water filter after it was finally installed; 3) Get the extra filter cartridges we requested (since we can't just order the cartridges from Brita/Ferguson/Amazon, but must go through Blanton's); 4) Get the same person on the phone more than once. So, long story short - we would strongly suggest you find someone else. read more

The very happy receptionist required a credit card to be on file. At this point, not even knowing if they could come today. Called Blanton on coldest weekend of the year during a snow and ice storm. Of course the HVAC had to go out during this time. They said they had no appointments but would put me on a "urgency list". Later they called and said they could not get to me that Saturday. It was not ideal, but I understood it was a last-minute thing. I then called to schedule a routine appointment for Monday following the storm. They gave me a time between eight and 12. Monday morning 8 o'clock they send me a text saying they are short of technicians and cannot make my appointment. If you like making appointments only to have them never fulfilled and being given constant excuses about why they cannot be filled this is the company for you. If you want someone to actually work for you and fix your HVAC I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Wow! Talk about lack of customer service. I called the store. The chipper receptionist answered, 'how can I make you smile today?' I asked how much they charge to replace a thermostat for ac. She said she couldn't give me a price because everyone is different. I understood that but was looking for a ballpark. The reason I gave her was that the last time I had them out for plumbing I was charged $400 to screw a valve on a pipe which, in my opinion, is excessive. I guess she didn't like that because she hung up on me. I won't be calling them again. I guess getting in the door is how they are successful in overcharging people, since it is usually vulnerable situations. read more

The technician was very kind and forthright. He fixed the shower cartridge faucet issue. However, he performed a multiple point inspection of our entire plumbing system, initially offering my wife nearly $10,000 in repairs. He mentioned this is his company's policy and training. Not requested, completely uncalled for, and out of line. Again, not a technician problem, a Blanton company policy/training/business model problem. Price was on the high side for a faucet cartridge issue. Technician did confess Blanton is on the high side, but it is due to they are large and have large overhead. Not the customer's problem. Not even worth mentioning. The customer does not now also want to knowingly pay higher rates just due to overhead. read more

He took the time to look at all avenues of what the issue could be and walked us through every step of what the fix would entail and confirmed things with us before proceeding. Had a leak under my crawl space on a Saturday. To their credit, they came out right away and took care of it. Then the technician said he would do an inspection of the pipes in the crawl space in addition to replacing the leaking tank. He took photos and brought them for us to review and said our pipes to the first floor should be replaced. Mind you, they are copper and this is an expensive, high end house that is just shy of 25 years old. It would cost us $15K to replace them. I've had 10 houses in my lifetime (including a 200 year old farmhouse) and never had anyone suggest my plumbing had to be essentially replaced. I was highly suspicious, so we called a builder we know and he recommended a plumber for a second opinion. What would have cost us $15K, wound up costing $400 for the replacement tank and second opinion which concluded that our plumbing was just fine and that the "corrosion" was normal. See yelp reviews for more horror stories with this company that sound similar. How they get so many positive google reviews is beyond me, but if you dig past the positive ones, there are other stories like mine. Be very, very careful. read more

I am SO UPSET!!! I called because I have a drippy faucet and the water valve under the sink is also dripping. I bought a replacement faucet already. All I needed was a plumber to take off the old faucet and put on the new one and then replace the O ring in the valve underneath. The cost?? 900$. ARE YOU KIDDING??? 900$?!! I had to pay 116$ for this dude to walk in, spend 5 minutes looking at my sink, made me show him my water heater which is fine and the give me this RIDICULOUS QUOTE?? I figured I would give them a shot since they said the 109 dispatch charge should cover the diagnostics. They didn't tell me they would charge $170 for a standard single-pole breaker that retails for ~$10 --17x up-charge (probably more since they wouldn't pay full price for a breaker). Called to have a quote for a 30 and or 50 amp RV outlet put in garage, Tech was nice, but think he was advised wrong and gave ridiculous quote. What was needed was $150 worth of parts for Square D breaker, 20' tops 6awg , and 50 amp plug. Easy access. initially they wanted (are you sitting down) $4,174. This was for a dedicated 30 and 50 amp plug, but reduced to $3022! Or each a 50 amp line $1,911 or 30amp line $1,127. Now how is there $784 difference for essentially same work? ridiculous. So paid $116 to provide ridiculous options. Ive remodeled homes and just finished building 2 homes in Alaska. Unless a more acceptable revised quote is provided, would NEVER recommend this company. read more

After much discussion with Austin, we chose a tank less water system. Austin went above and beyond to help and serve us. I wish I had read these reviews before I called them. I had the same experience as the others. I contacted them just to get my new dishwasher hooked up. Their ad said they were located in Knightdale, which is 5 minutes from my house, however, the salesman, who was a nice young man, but probably not an installer, came out the next day from Fayetteville and spent nearly an hour taking pictures of all my faucets and fixtures and told me about all their maintenance plans. When I finally had a chance to talk about my dishwasher, he looked at me as if he actually had no intention of connecting it, which, by the way, would have cost $550. He charged me $116 for the same information I got from their brochure. After I declined his offers and he left, my wife and I installed the dishwasher by ourselves in about 2 hours. Jason Hogg, the technician came out to my house on a Saturday to put in a shower/tub faucet. He had to cap off the pipes so he could come back to do the install on Monday. He scheduled the appointment and told me he would be back on Monday at 10am. I called Monday at 8am to ask for a detailed bill, which by the way they do NOT provide. They told me I didn't have an appointment. Turns out someone didn't do their job I was not on the list. Long story short, no plumber ever came to fix my shower. Cody and Brandon the dispatchers did not follow-up with me to let me know they were late and may not be able to come. Finally at 5:15 I called them back again and was told no one would be coming.
