Newton's has been our go to restaurant when we want to enjoy some delicious food. We normally only…read morecome here for dinner, which is when we had the ribeye and chicken fried steak! The ribeye was perfectly cooked, tender and perfectly seasoned. My wife always gets the chicken fried steak. It's a huge meal and a heck of a deal. Each plate came with mashed potatoes and some veggies. I love desserts and I am always trying new places to find the best desserts. I can honestly say that Newton's bread pudding is the best bread pudding I have ever had and is one of my favorite desserts. I follow their social media and I always see their burger Tuesday's. We happened to be passing through and decided to stop in. Carlos was our server and he was on top of things and he offered great customer service. I got the triple meat smash burger with grilled jalapeños and bacon added. My wife got the buffalo chicken sandwich. They were both tasty. I would definitely stop by again for their burgers but their steaks are still my go to. And of course we had to finish our meals with a bread pudding!!

My wife had the filet and the kitchen was nice enough to sub a gluten free pasta for the blue cheese gnocchi that was on the menu. The pasta was buttery and rich, very rich but my wife enjoyed it and said the steak was up there with the best steak she's ever had. Get the bourbon glazed carrot.. trust me.

Our only regret was not taking photos of our food to share with you all. We ordered: potato skins, Brussels sprouts, baked potato, petite sirloin, and their daily special - chuck eye steak. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was perfection. Even the cocktails were good and strong and perfectly crafted with fresh ingredients. It was a cattle ranchers' dream meal. Our serve even asked us to cut into our steaks to ensure that they were cooked to our liking. The interior is completely done up as an ol' west town with eating room designated as train cars, saloons, and even a jail!! When we come back to Stephenville, we absolutely will be bringing family and friends here.

We started off with the pick 3 for appetizers which is a steal! we got the baby bombs, potato skins, and the poppers they were all delicious. For our entrees we got the Flat Iron and 8oz filet both medium rare. The flat iron was one of the best steaks my boyfriend has ever had it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We got two shareable sides the mac n cheese and the baked potato and trust me when they say shareable they mean it they both could've fed 6 people!! We finished off the night with the cheesecake with homemade fudge and whipped cream it was 10/10. I would highly recommend we went for our anniversary and they made sure we had a great night!

Okay, I have never graded a restaurant on their cleanliness but here we go…read more Yes, we did eat here today and it was frightening honestly. We walked in and over to a booth... the table appeared clean but the seats had food left in them for ... well I'm not sure how long. Moved to another booth that the guy way "wiping down" with a wet dirty rag and no cleaner. Yes, I am aware that some restaurants soak towels for this purpose, but I promise this was not the case. He did not wipe down the seats, but the food on the seat was to my right and there really was no other option, since all the chairs at the tables had hand prints on the top of the chairs and black dirt on the legs of the chairs. I informed the waitress that she might want to remind her bus boy that he should wipe down the seats. She apologized and I hope she passed on the information. While sitting there, I became more uncomfortable. Food on the walls. Air vents were black, like the AC filter has never been changed. I observed people behind the counter on an "ice rink of grease" sliding all around. The floors in the restaurant haven't been cleaned in days. It was 10 am, no way could they look like that from just a few hours. The grill has not been cleaned in well, it's been a while.... See photos, the aluminum wall guard was swiped at. But the controls on the grill were just nasty Waitresses were eating and drinking behind the counter, in front of customers. I didn't get to the restrooms, but if they are anything like the rest of the restaurant..... Coffee was as far as I wanted to go here. But my mom wanted to eat. So we ordered a burger and a steak sandwich. 40.00 plus tip. Food was subpar. Does were cold. Burger was not great. Mom liked her steak sandwich. Would I recommend this place. Absolutely NOT. We will not be going back. A giant waste of money.

HUGE RAVE FOR SIDNEY AND R&R BARBECUE (aka "another restaurant review")…read more Today, my beloved bride and I decided we would patronize the above name establishment once again. I arrived at the drive-through window at 1550 (that's 10 minutes until four for those readers who might not be familiar with military time). I was greeted by a lovely young lady by the name of Sidney. I proceeded to order our favorite culinary specialty, which is known as a "Bean Bowl." A bean bowl is a more-than-adequate container that holds a mixture of sliced sausage, chopped brisket, and pinto beans. I like to think of it as an MMM (that stands for "macho Manly meal." Then again, I might want to rethink that, because a lot of women love them too. Let's talk about the food; the brisket was smoky and tender as Texas brisket should be. The sausage was extremely flavorful and chopped just right, meaning that one slice is less than a mouthful, at least for me. And speaking of my mouth, mine has never wrapped its gums around more tasty pinto beans! They were tender, seasoned perfectly, and not overwhelmed by an army of jalapeños, like some barbecue places make them. And did I fail to mention that you can get onions, pickles, and barbecue sauce, added, or on the side with this dish? If I did fail to mention it, please allow me this opportunity to mention that you can get onions, pickles, and barbecue sauce added, or on the side with this dish! Now let's talk about Sidney: I am an old man, and having the pleasure to meet her, I saw a young lady who is kind, can multi-task, has a very professional and congenial manner with customers, and in short is the type of young woman whom I would have wanted my daughter to be if I had ever had one. The R&R Barbecue restaurant and Sidney are ROCK STARS! These folks can play on my team any day! In closing, I'm sure that you all have heard about the world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay. I have no doubt that some of his signature dishes, like beef Wellington, grilled scallops, and others, are quite tasty. But to quote an old bald-headed man from Morgan Mill, "As for me and my house, we will always prefer bean bowls." I hope that y'all have enjoyed reading this as much as I have enjoyed writing it. If you haven't already, give this restaurant a shout and ask for Sidney. You will not be disappointed!

Hmm, well, I was a bit disappointed in R&R BBQ. I had high hopes after hearing that the restaurant…read morehad won a best of bbq award. Maybe I went on an off day, but in my opinion, every day, any product should be at its best if serving it. While I'm not here to rate the other local BBQ favorite, neither live up to being truly "great" in my judgment. Was it edible? Yes. Was it gross? No. But was it dry? Yes, yes, and uh, yep. The three of us all had something different. Other than the sausage, nothing I tried was memorable. The ham tasted grilled instead of smoked, and the brisket, turkey, and ribs were extremely dry and didn't have much of a taste. And although the sausage was good, it wasn't anything special. The sauce was decent, as was their iced tea. On top of that, their menu is a little confusing. If you're going to offer two sides, show what sides are available for choices. I tried to order the fries, and they supposedly counted as two sides -- fries? That's one of the cheapest items a restaurant can serve! I ended up with their bland, watered down beans and almost as tasteless, potato salad--just nothing extraordinary about any of their food. I'm a bit of a BBQ junky and have tried my fair share of joints all across Texas and other parts of the US. I judge on taste, crust, smoke ring, dry or wet, fatty goodness, or just covered in fat, and if the sauce is necessary or not. I'm not rating it less than 4-stars because it was edible, and with the sauce, it was somewhat still enjoyable. And yes, I included the tea in the review. It amazes me how many restaurants can't figure out how to make good tea; R&R perfected it! So congrats on that! Will try again in the future to see if next time I have a different experience. Maybe a Texas Sweet Tea pie would be a good menu addition.
