I've had many issues with this Blaze. Employees are very rude and crass. Typically, on a Friday night this place tends to move things fast even with their long line, and with new covid restrictions you expect a slow down. However, I did not expect such a long slow down. Many people are ordering online to make things easier and quicker. Tonight however, the young man standing by the door area was very rude while standing there folding boxes while people stood outside in the rain. This was the longest wait for a almost decent pizza. Amazing place!!! Especially made for students: quick, filling, nutritious, and most importantly, affordable! The build-your-own pizzas have unlimited toppings for only ~$9, that includes sauce, cheese, meat, and veggies. You can even bring in your own salad to put on top. You can also bring in whatever you want to create a dessert pie. I've seen people bring in chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallow to make a smores pie and it looked phenomenal! Their fresh made juices are also awesome and if you dine-in, there are free refills. To top it off, this place is open late into the night for those all nighters, both in off seasons and even later during the semesters. read more

Alright, we get it, you make the pizza in front of us and throw it in your titular fast fire grille. Nice job. Comes out tasty, yeah, but the bottom of the pizza is the dirtiest pizza bottom I have ever laid my eyes on. After laying my hands on a slice of blaze pizza, they look like they've been laid waste to by pizza crust dust, various other dusts, and God knows what else. I have to wash my hands thoroughly after every single slice, and even then I'm left with some sort of strange "residue" after I'm done. Maybe try windexing that grille or something. Windex the underside of the crust as well while you've got the spray bottle out. Customers, bring some wet wipes, Blaze Pizza is a wild ride that you're going to want to get off of at some point. read more

I started going to Blaze in Downtown Storrs three years ago. At that time, Blaze was a newer eatery in town and everything was cooked really well and the line workers made the pizzas with care. Since then, the quality of pizza has gone downhill. At peak hours, you can almost expect to get a pizza that is not yet cooked or that has been cooked for too long. Recently, it seems as though the prices have gone up, which is a real inconvenience for college students. The ingredients are always fresh and there are always gluten free and vegan options. If you're looking for a chill place to grab some quick food and hang with friends, Blaze is a great place to go. The staff - upbeat, friendly, knowledgeable, and very patient as we were unsure of what we wanted to order. The ambiance - cute and modern, in the heart of UConn. Easily accessible street parking. When you walk into Blaze, you order / build your own pizza at the counter. They have a number of specialty pizzas or you can create your own. The food - we decided to go with two BYO pizzas. We were impressed by the variety of sauces available for your base and topping options. We ordered one pizza with a garlic pesto base, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, mushrooms, red onions, roasted red peppers, olives, and topped with arugula, buffalo and BBQ sauce. The second, a buffalo based pizza, with mozzarella and extra Gorgonzola, red onion, zucchini, spinach, and topped with arugula and ranch. From the time we started ordering to eating, was less than six minutes, which was amazing for not feeling rushed and also being able to watch your pizzas prepped in front of you. Topped it off with 2 Lagunitas and a Caesar salad, totaling $32. The pizzas were delicious, 6 slices each, ate half of both and took the rest home. Perfect for two people with left overs. I was here originally here when they first opened up and felt that it was just meh. It was chain with subway like feel but with pizza. With the first experience, I wasn't impressed so wasn't planning to come back. But I recently went back with my colleagues since they all wanted pizza and they hadn't tried Blaze yet. I was expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The service was better. There was some menu updates like different kind of crusts including gluten free, which one of colleague loved. They also now had the option to glaze the crust with garlic Parmesan which add to the flavor of the crust. As mentioned before, the place is like subway except personal pizza and all the toppings you want to add all for $8.00. I like this concept because everyone can do their own thing. Just ate at Blaze Pizza for the first time and have to say it was outstanding!! Hats off to the entire staff(Jenny, Troy, Simone, Sydney, and Addison!). They did an excellent job explaining what the menu offerings were with a smile! So many choices from the sauces to meat and veggie offerings! I could not believe how fast they cooked the pizza! Each one of my family ordered their own personal pizza so everyone got their pizza just the way THEY like it! At 14, 9, and 8 years old they had no problem with almost eating the entire pizza. This is my favorite place for a fast, delicious and individualized pizza experience for my family. I grew up in NYC, so I know my pizza. The crust is amazingly flavorful and crisp, the cheese and toppings are fresh and delicious and the customer service is second to none! My kids love to build their own pizza-and for under $8, you can put as many cheeses, veggies and meats on your pie as you can imagine. We love watching our pies being perfected in the wood-fired ovens and will often get the s'mores treat as a delicious dessert. The food is delicious, but it's the staff that has us hooked. It's a bustling spot, but the staff are always friendly, patient and make sure your pizza is exactly the way you want it. We've been going at least once a week since it opened, and they know me and my kids by name. They remember what we like and are super friendly and kind. Bonnie remembers our order when we forget all the layers of cheese and veggies we like, Chalise saw that one time my son's pizza was not as chewy as he likes his pizza, so the next time she suggested that he order it "blonde" (a little less cooked) Now he thinks he's extra cool because he's got a secret way of ordering pizza that no one else is clued in on (he's 10). We went to their opening night. There were several people there. I would call it busy. There was a huge staff contingent present and while they were clearly still being trained, it didn't interrupt the flow of the place. Every person was friendly, positive , upbeat and helpful. Fun place to get some pizza. The pizza came out FAST! It was delicious!! THe blood orange lemonade was so good!!! Two of us shared a pizza- 3slices each- so the size is good. The prize was good too!
