Margherita pizza has no sauce on it and a thick layer of cheese. It sucked. It's literally a white pizza with tomatoes and basil...not a margherita pizza. They also gave us wings without sauce when we ordered honey barbecue. When we called about it the owner was very rude and defensive about it saying "their margherita pizza doesn't have sauce on it" ??? and claiming that we ordered plain wings even though it said honey bbq on the slip they gave us. They didn't offer any refund. However the girl on the phone that took our order was very sweet and understanding!! My wife and I never made it past the phone call when we wanted to order take out. Whatever answered the phone, it sounded like a huge inconvenience for us to want their business. So I said never mind, I will send my business elsewhere. When it's my money being spent, I want polite, professional, and courteous people. What this was, was completely disrespectful and rude. Go somewhere else to spend your hard earned money. I will order lesser quality food if the service and people are great. Margherita pizza had an astronomical amount of cheese, didn't know cheddar cheese was on margherita. It also doesn't come with any sauce on it which is confusing because i've only ever had it with sauce. our wings also had no sauce on them when the slip that came with the food definitely specified the type of sauce we wanted. My family visited New England Pizza tonight, it was the worst experience. We ordered a pizza and an order of manicotti, 40 min later we had not see our food. Not once during that time did the waitress try to find out where the order was and did not come to our table. It turned out they forgot to make our food. You have one job. The hurried food came over, the pizza was undercooked and tasted terrible. The waitress knew we weren't happy and didn't even bothering to check on us. No offer to reduce our bill. We paid and left. I very often do my grocery shopping at the Wal-Mart right down the road from New England Pizza and had driven past it a number of times before I noticed it first. I got realily excited because I love the one in Vernon, so I figured its got to be the same owners. I did some googling and found that there were three places in the US called "New England Pizza & Restaurant" and all were in CT, so they must be the same owners right? It would be a little strange if there were three places with the same name in the same state that were unrelated, and none anywhere else in the US. Well I guess it was strange. When the pizza came out I could tell it wasn't the same owners as the one in Vernon. It was defintiely good pizza, in the same greek style, but just had a bit of a different taste. I would definitely return to this location, the food was a bit different than I expected going in, but it was still very good. Their pizza even reheated in the microwave well, which is always a plus. I did ask on the way out, and they said they do know the owners of the Vernon location, but there is infact no relation. read more

The pizza is absolutely top-notch (if you like a crispy, thick crust). They don't scrimp on the toppings, and everything is cooked perfectly every time. The sandwiches we've tried have also been very good, and even the Buffalo wings are tasty. House salad is an okay side, a totally ordinary plate of iceberg lettuce and cukes and green peppers. A palate cleanser. Bigger dinner salads and antipastos are also available, and assume are pretty good, based upon the quality of the other food offerings. The only place NEP&R falls short -- okay, two places -- is the service and the actual dining room. The dining area is wide but only a few tables deep, and the air-lock entrance way cuts the room in half. It can get very noisy, especially if you're seated near a table full of ESCU students, or a screaming kid whose parents don't seem to care (as on our last visit; when they couple left, we could hear people all over the restaurant saying "Whew! Finally!). There is a bar at one end of the dining room with a tv blaring crap. At times the staff seemed more interested on the celebrity profile show than on the diners waiting for attention. That said, they're really friendly. It's just that the don't really seem to be 100% on the ball on any of the times we've eaten in. It's frustrating when you can see the bar fifteen feet away, yet have to wait ten minutes for someone to pour a draft beer (which didn't even come filled to the top of the glass). And that house salad...how long can it take? Aren't these usually mostly pre-made, just toss a handful of lettuce on a plate with some veggies? We got our salad just moments before our pizza came out of the kitchen (and we know how long pizza takes). So, that stuff sounds negative. But really, this place has very good food! For that they earn four stars. One of the best pizzas in the area, if you like this style of pizza. If you like thin crust pizza, seek elsewhere. Highly recommended for take out. If this review was based only on the dining room experience, or the erratic service, it would be a iffy three stars. read more

the waitress was very ditsy & disrespectful. she did not really pay attention to the table. my dad told her we needed utensils & she gave a smart remark back. she took our order while continually interrupting us, & after 45 minutes we didn't have our food. we had to stare at her to get her attention. she was too busy talking non stop to someone at the bar. she brought out my parents pizza then ran off so the chef had to bring our the manicotti for myself. the pizza was terrible, & both my parents felt sick afterwards. she didn't check on us once, in reference to needing more drinks or asking how the food was. she brought us the check, & said "thought you'd want this". she didn't acknowledge the fact that none of us hate. she gave a half assed apology when she realized that we were unhappy. horrible tip for a horrible waitress. dont go unless you like wasting time & money!!! read more

Let's start off by saying that I love food. Whilst I may not be a large fellow; I do know the difference between top notch food and sheer backroom rubbish. New England Pizza - Upon entering; you're enveloped it a Family Style, Italian "atmosphere" that really welcomes you. The restaurant is very clean and well organized. The waitress that I had (Mary) was just as flawless. I was greeted in an incredibly timely manner. She was very pleasant and asked me for my beverage of choice straight away. What took me back was the fact that a patron had walked in to whom was using crutches. Mary had greeted her with a smile and helped her to a seat. The same customer then asked for Mary's opinion as to what SHE thinks was the best food that they had. Mary quickly replied with "Chicken Marsala". The customer quickly said "sure; that sounds great" and the order was taken without pause. Now: I've been to many a restaurant and have asked the same question myself and, well; 90% of the time I was told, "Here's the menu". To be honest; Mary was one of the single best waitress' I've ever had in my life. I had ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger Sandwich. It came standard cooked medium (although Mary had asked if I'd like it differently), with Cole Slaw and Fries. No more than 10 minutes had passed (they were a bit steady and she was the only waitress at the time) and my food was right at my table. Absolutely everything was fresh - from the hamburg; to the oil that had cooked my fries. The portions are quite hearty and the quality is top notch. The entire dish had that "Homemade" quality and taste that's truly hard to get nowadays. Folks; give this place a shot. I've been here on many occasions and I've NEVER been let down. Hidden gem! People in the Eastern Connecticut don't realize how spoiled they are to have so many good pizzerias in the area. New England pizza excels at crust and especially toppings, which are always fresh and cut to perfection. The atmosphere caters to the everyman working class person. The interior is simple but clean, and the oven in the back has probably been there since the Carter administration.
