For me, NY - NY Pizza Restaurant is the best pizza in Hartford, period. While Modern Apizza in New Haven remains my #1 all-time in the state, these guys deliver that same high-caliber brick-oven quality right here in the city. The one thing they actually have over Modern is that all of their meats are pork-free; the entire menu is Halal. As a pizza snob, when I absolutely have to have pepperoni, this is the only spot I trust to do it right without compromising on my dietary preferences. The brick-oven char is authentic, and the consistency is exactly what you expect from a top-tier establishment. Great mom and pop pizza joint. Pizza was made hot and fresh fast. Their wings are crispy and tossed with sauce. I got the Coupon #2 with Large one topping (pepperoni) and chicken wings (hot). I'm at a complete loss. Ordered a grinder which LOOKED promising. No no no I couldn't eat it. The "turkey" was slimy over processed meat product. I was starving so I tried to get down a couple bites but finally had to take the turkey off. Currently eating bread and lettuce with cheese. Really aggravated by the quality of ingredients here. I'd like to start this review by noting: Having spent almost my entire life in the New York City area, I have been blessed and spoiled by ready access to good, and sometimes outstanding, pizza. Yes, I am something of a pizza snob. And, Having been burned by places proclaiming to offer "New York Style" anything, I have come to take such claims with more than a grain of salt. With this as background... I approached NY NY Pizza with a goodly bit of trepidation. "Yeah, right," I smugly thought to myself. "New York pizza." I took note of their wood-fired oven, though, and decided to check it out. I'm very glad I did. These guys make a good pie. That's very high praise from me. NY NY's pizzas pick up some of the hardwood smoked flavor, and their thin crust gets just enough char from the screaming hot oven. Importantly, they don't put too much cheese on - a mistake even many NYC pizzerias make. NY NY has good "plain" pizza, which is the test for me. And if you want lots of fancy toppings, they've got "specialty" pies as well. But, wait! What's that in the display case? That crispy, browned creation of phyllo dough and spiced ground meats, and alongside it a sibling stuffed with spinach... could those be bureks? I'm not in New York City or the Balkans. HOW can this be? But... OMG! They are bureks! Turns out the guys behind the counter at NY NY Pizza are Bosnian, and in addition to good pizza they make bureks, which I've encountered in only a handful of places. The bureks are even better than the pizza. Standard meat and cheese-and-spinach varieties. Call ahead if you want one in particular - I've learned it can be hit or miss walking in. BTW: They don't have yogurt, which is how the the Albanians I first got bureks from in NYC serve them. So plan to get yogurt elsewhere if that's important to you. PriceRite just south in Wethersfield usually has Greek yogurt "for cheap." NY NY also has goulash, paprikash and other Bosnian foods. Solid pizza, good bureks and other stuff worth checking out. Take out cheese slices today around 130 PM, per usually only one other person there. I am a little tired of the guy up front that makes the pizzas asking me 3-4 times what I said for pretty much everything I say, he is a nice enough guy but I get tired of repeating myself. Pizza was warmed up in the oven and was pretty greasy, actually this was the first time my pizza was greasy, so I was a little suprised. Nice place with a wood-fired brick oven. The atmosphere is quiet and super casual. Their crust is thin and soft, very tasty. I ordered the NY NY Special pizza which had just the right balance of savory and salty flavors and just the right amount of grease. They also have some Balkan foods on the menu. I had a slice of the feta cheese pie made with filo dough and it was delicious. Definitely worth checking out. read more

We were excited to order and try a new place. Extremely disappointing results. Chicken parm grinder was cold and contained three small chicken strips. My sons's pizza was cold and unedible with barely any sauce or cheese. My wife and son would not eat their food, despite hunger. Worst $26 I've ever spent. Tipped the driver ahead of time, but that's ok because he seemed friendly enough and got the food to us on time. Won't be back. read more

Placed an order online for delivery through grubhub app and the restaurant and application said the delivery time would be between 8:20pm-8:30pm, I was patient for at least 25min and still no delivery. I e eventually gave up and called the restaurant to cancel everything so bottom line they need to work on delivery times 25min and nothing is not acceptable. read more
