Wow! We are turning away from MOD and making Blaze our new favorite. We tried them out because nothing else was opened. What a great idea that was. First, the customer service was attentive, fast yet patient, and friendly. Second, the food was delicious. Those little dough garlic knots are fresh, soft and the right amount of buttery garlic. The pizza ingredients are all fresh. And the food line was clean and well organized. This is for the locations we visited in Orlando and Jacksonville Florida. Because of the consistency in these two locations, we will be visiting the Blaze Pizza in our neck of the woods. read more

Bottom line: good value "fast-track" pizza franchise that redefines "thin" in "thin crust"! Worth the visit. Came for lunch on opening day and it's easy to see that the folks from corporate as well as established stores in the region are "all hands on deck" to insure a successful opening. My M.O. when going to a pizzeria I've not yet visited is to order either a Margherita or your basic cheese pizza. Here, the Red Vine is a good interpretation of a Margherita. This was fired, just as the marketing suggests, in short order. Definitely a plus once a line starts forming outside the door - as it may do during the early days. The dough itself appears to be molded upfront to include a noticeable rim "handle" about 3mm by 5mm (I could be off a micron or two). Right off the bat, I notice a consistent thickness of the thin crust. A consistent thickness that supports my notion that the dough might be pressed and shaped in advance. Frankly, I couldn't think of another way given how accelerated the "order-to-receiving" process actually is. No question: you're going to get your pizza "Jimmy-John Fast" (who knows, perhaps we will one day refer to Jimmy John's as "Blaze-Pizza fast") Once the pizza came, I noticed the following: surprisingly thin crust (not bad, just unexpected), post-oven olive oil drizzle (Frank Pepe's does this, as do many, many others) that tasted more EVOO than standard olive oil, the basil flavor came through loud and clear, and the tomato sauce is like biting into a juicy Roma Tomato. If you're looking to take a break from the already talented and robust locally-owned pizzeria scene, this is a winner option for you. If you're the sort that generally migrates towards familiar franchised options - you're likely not reading this anyway. It's no secret that I'm biased towards TLH-owned, local businesses. That said, this franchise has nailed the fast-pizza business model. Definitely worth a visit so you can judge for yourself. read more

I do not do this because each place should be reviewed on it's own but I think with this place some comparison's might help. This pizza, particularly for the price, was good and that is what 3 stars is all about. I got the "build your own" pizza. I did not like the Italian sausage at all. It tasted way to "Americanized/pizza hut" to me. The salami was good. The crust is pressed out mechanically and it makes for a thin crust. I like thin crust so this didn't bother me. I really liked the sautéed zucchini as a topping. It is something different but really quite a nice flavor add. R's pizza took longer because when they went to put it in the hot oven, it tore. They had to remake it and forgot that he asked for bacon on his while going down the line. They did bring it out to him instead of having him come back up to pick it up. Eh, they should have walked him through to make a new one. They were nice about it though. The ricotta on my pizza was too bland and dry. R was ok with the ricotta on his. You could tell it was chain restaurant quality. That was disappointing. They didn't skimp on it so that was nice. The pepperoni I tasted on R's had a good flavor. The mushrooms were standard but heated up well. Would I choose this pizza over any other chain? Yes. Would I choose this pizza over Gaines street pies? Yes. Would I choose it over decent? Sometimes. Would I choose it over Dave's? Not if I was craving a calzone. Would I choose it over Isabella's? NEVER. Better than the rest of the chains but not better than a few of our local joints. read more

I've never lived in a town with so many pizza joints. Blaze isn't the best in Tally but it's darn good! On their fourth day of business, we ventured in Friday night to a line that reached the door. We decided to experiment with patience as a virtue and we were glad we did. Very impressed with: 1. Plenty of well trained staff 2. Variety and choice of pizzas (think Which Wich) 3. Uber fast cooking times...180 seconds 4. Great quality for the price. No pizza over $7.95 I prefer a crispier crust but it was thin and the ingredients were flavorful (I had the link pizza). Lots of seating, friendly staff, and even beer/wine. We will be back especially for a quick, yummy meal. read more

This is pretty good "designer" pizza but not my favorite classic cheese. I used to order the simple pie but I recently tried the art lover and liked it a lot. The ricotta is placed in big dollops around the pie, next time I might ask for it to be spread about because I ended up spreading it out myself to distribute the great flavor. Hubby loves the custom pie option and builds a red pie with sausage, olives, and spinach. On our most recent visit we decided to try the smores cookie and it was delish. Ask them to heat it up for you when you are ready for dessert. Overall Blaze makes for a yummy, fresh, fast, inexpensive dinner out. read more

I've been hearing such great things about Blaze that I was very excited to try it. There's a small table or two outside in the back but tons more in front along Magnolia for those that like to dine outside. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean everything was from the tables to the floor and the drinks and toppings area. I automatically went to the left when I walked in but the people behind me went to the right. I'm sure I was sporting one of my many confused looks that I have often because one of the workers looked at me and assured me that I was in the right line. So ordering is to the left, and pay and pick up is to the right:-) The workers were absolutely wonderful!! They all were so upbeat with nice smiling faces and very helpful. As this was my first time here, each worker in line explained all my topping choices and the prices associated with it. I ordered the Veg Out with classic red sauce and black olives...delicious! I absolutely loved the sauce and thin crust. My son ordered classic red sauce, bacon, feta and mozzarella cheese. He loved it! It's $7.95 with as many toppings as you want or you can choose one of their specialties. Since my son got two types of cheeses it was a little extra, as the worker explained that the price only comes with one cheese. With all the sauces and topping choices you can really get creative here, and I plan to be back to try many more! If you haven't gone there yet put it on your to do list. This is the best pizza in Tallahassee and the surrounding big bend area. I'm from NJ and I know great pizza. This is similar to the Mod Pizza concept that we have in NJ but a lot better. You have to like a thinner crust pizza and crispy which I love. The toppings are all fresh. The customer service is really nice especially for being a fast food type pizza place with some high school kids working there. My point is everyone is properly trained to give great customer service. They have a new item on their menu, a baked pasta. I was skeptical about ordering it but it was tasty. I was very surprised. I think ordering it exactly how it's advertised is best. The pepperoni really adds flavor. One last thing to mention-the pizza is not oily. I ordered the meat lovers and it was not oily at all. I really don't know what to say that isn't captured perfectly by some of the Elite reviews on here. Had myself a Red Vine and really enjoyed it. Quick and easy process with cool staff that were very helpful. I was impressed by their selection as it included gluten-free dough (this one IS extra) and vegan cheese (surprisingly NOT extra). While the personal pizza size fooled my eyes into getting a side salad, my hangry-ness was actually pleasantly satiated from both. Decided to go out here on a whim, and I'd say it was a success all around! I was overwhelmed at first when I walked in, but I let the employees explain the menu and it all worked out well and my anxiety was brought down to a minimum as I decided to order the signature Red Vine pizza, and go with a Build Your Own - mozzarella, feta, Italian sausage, fresh basil, and olive oil to finish it off. It was enough for the two of us, and as I sat at the end of my meal I kept looking over the menu thinking of how good the other signature pies must be. Since the pizza is thin crust and fire roasted it has that distinct smoky flavor you'd expect from a Neapolitan style joint, and quelled my homesickness for some good New York/New Jersey Pizza - which I didn't think was possible in the South. The blood orange lemonade is just as good as everyone makes it out to be, and I even decided to make an Arnold Palmer out of it which was great - but straight up was definitely the way to go. I can't wait to return to try out more of the signatures, the White Top especially caught my eye, and the smores pies for dessert are also on my list for sure! read more

To anyone who has experienced real wood-fired pizza, at its best: the aroma of baking bread; the crackling fire and glowing coals; the perfect fusion of ingredients melded together at the right heat; the mouth satisfying crunchiness of the pizza shell and the fragrant but not over-done toppings, then Blaze Pizza's products will be a huge comedown. Our one experience with Blaze Pizza (I have to qualify this criticism) was exactly that - a huge comedown. We ordered one of the house specialty pizzas, with a few extras, to go. I thought that the speed with which the pizza was slid into the oven, then withdrawn and boxed up (about 3 to 4 minutes) couldn't be enough to properly bake the pie. Upon opening the box at home, about 10 minutes later, I was right. Inside was an undistinguished blob of a pizza, that didn't resemble what it was supposed to look like anymore than if it had been left out in the rain. So soggy and underdone that it could scarcely be lifted out of the box, and the toppings had become gooey and gluey, massed together in an undistinguishable mess. If that wasn't bad enough, the biting acidity of the tomato or marinara sauce was clearly from the can; the mozzarella and gorganzola cheese had hardly any flavor, and the other toppings? I can't remember what they tasted like, as I was gagging down the limp, doughy, wet pastry-like shell. The only upside to the meal was that I'd ordered a Greek salad, which was very acceptable. In sum, I'd say that the elaborate set-up, the huge gas-fired oven, and factory-like set up of the "pizza line" of Blaze Pizza is a front for foisting a pathetic similitude of a real pizza on the American pizza lover. read more

This location never lets me down. Most recently went there for Pi Day, where they offer their pizzas for $3.14. They were prepared for crowds and that line ran like a smooth oiled wheel. Didn't even feel like a special day with the speed that they had me in and out in. The person on the oven was the hero, because my crust was perfect and not burnt in the slightest, I feel that sometimes depending on the location, your crust can get a little crispy. The line got somewhat backed up at the peak of lunch time, but was still flowing smoothly and efficiently. So hats off to them for accomplishing that feat. read more

I ate here while on a business trip to Tallahassee because it was right across from my hotel. My colleague chose the spot, but I'm glad he did. My first time at a Blaze Pizza, I was pleasantly surprised. Think of Blaze Pizza as the Subway of pizza. While they have suggested pizzas, they also have a build your own option, which I selected. The regular crusts are thin but there are options for a thicker crust and gluten free. I added mozzarella, chicken, spinach, onions, roasted garlic, peppers, and a ton of other veggies. Then, my pizza was placed in a wood fired oven for about ten minutes. Out came a nicely cooked pizza with a crunchy crust and cut into 8 slices. I could have easily eaten the entire pizza but opted to save two slices for leftovers. The Greek salad I ordered on the side was also delicious. Their salads all come premade with the dressing and cheese mixed in, but they were kind enough to make a special salad for me with the dressing and cheese on the side, which was much appreciated. It is a decent size pizza and you can put whatever you want on it. They have many topping options so you could get a different pizza every single time! They also have signature pizzas too, which you can customize to your liking as well. If you are ever in the area, you HAVE to try this place.
