It's French themed which you'll notice with the decor and menu options. They have a great selection of pastries and lunch items. I have always wanted to visit Paris, and it feels like I stepped into a French Cafe with the decor and very delicious bread and pastries. I so appreciate the owners offering fresh baked gluten free bread that actually tastes like bread and not cardboard. They almost always have GF chocolate chip cookies that kids would have no idea that the gluten causing inflammation was missing. It started out as a small bakery, spread into the space next door, and then tore down a wall into the empty hair salon next to that and 12 yrs later, they are the cutest little French bakery cafe you ever sat in outside of Paris. I'm exaggerating, but what I won't exaggerate is their tasty food, baked yummies, and fantastic lattes. What a great find. Beautifully well lit space. Great options for brunch. And their baked goods are just so beautiful. Not too many vegan options available but if you like biscuits and gravy or tofu scramble on an English muffin or a vegan sweet I say c'est parfait! I had the vegan London fog latte. Surprisingly soothing. I also had the vegan Bennie. It was quite delicious. Filling. The only gripe I had was that the English muffin was tough. The rest was superb. I was told the mushroom gravy was just gravy, but the biscuits were notable. Instead of finishing this off with a lackluster gravy review, let's say something about the staff! Everyone from the order to go counter to the wait staff who recommended options were so friendly. Their smiles outshone their baked goods, and that whole counter of beautiful baked goods looked so damn amazing! If I wasn't vegan I'd get one of everything. Damn you vegan gods! Despite being quoted a 15 minute wait for a table, I don't think we waited more than five before being ushered to a cute corner table in the back of the dining area. My wife and I decided to split an order consisting of the "Bleu Lady", a Spicy Bloody Mary, a side of bacon and, of course, their legendary Beignets with lemon curd! I actually misread the menu, thinking the Bleu Lady was an *actual* Croque Madame, so I was slightly taken aback (but not unpleasantly so) when it arrived. Instead of a sandwich, it comes as a strata, but armed with all of the same wonderful flavors and textures, and works just as well! Sometimes the best things come as surprises! What should be *un*surprising is that the bacon was phenomenal! Of course. How could it not be? Three thick cut slices, perfectly browned and crisped, juicy, delicious, and almost hearty enough to be a meal unto itself! Oh, and the Bloody Mary? One of the best I've ever had, anywhere! Easily in my top three! The mix itself was smooth and savory, the vodka almost undetectable, and whatever spicy salt they used for the rim (it sorta tasted like Tajin?) was so damn good, I wish I had asked what it was, because I *need* that flavor in my life, all the time! Another thing that charmed us the personal touch that our server, Elvia, bestowed upon the customer at the table adjacent to us. The patron was obviously at least a semi-regular, and after being seated, Elvia surprised her by asking if she wanted "her usual Diet Pepsi". That sort of attentiveness and personable care deserves to be acknowledged and rewarded! We certainly weren't feeling "bleu" after our brunch at Bleu Door Bakery this last weekend, and a return visit is an absolute guarantee! Sacre bleu! read more

Love this place. One of our favorite places in Vancouver to eat. Food, price, and atmosphere are always on-point. Great menu with excellent options. I will say just this much... we've been eating here for three years now. Expect to be thirsty your entire meal. The tiny glass of water you get upon being seated will not get refilled. If you ask for a refill, expect to ask at least twice more before it happens. We quit ordering coffee because we cannot get a refill. It's like they're trained to intentionally not refill drinks and disregard any requests. It is the most baffling thing. It isn't any specific wait staff member, it's all of them. Refills are impossible... this is a breakfast place... coffee and water are seemingly a staple of this meal and should flow freely. This would easily be a 5-star review but the chronic thirst of this restaurant yields it a 3-star. read more

This is one of my daughters favorite eateries and we went for lunch while I was visiting her. I was so surprised to find my favorite sandwich, the Monte Cristo, was on the menu. I have not seen it on a restaurant menu for years. I have to say that it was one of the best I have ever had! The bread, meat and cheese were in perfect harmony, with jelly on the side. My daughter had a turkey sandwich which had such a fresh taste I will try it next time I am in town. The restaurant is cozy, the service was great and the coffee was as good as the food. We went back before I left and ordered from the express wondow. The coffee and pastries were excellent and it was nice to be able to sit outside. On my list for my next trip to town! So I want to start out by saying that when it comes to getting pastries and coffees, they are some of the best around Vancouver. However, the issue was purchasing Thanksgiving pies. I purchased one of each to try all three and we can start with the good parts. All three pies had great crust and looked decent. Now the bad part which is why I'm giving three out of five stars was all three pies had terrible filling The pumpkin pie was lacking spice, not as if I was after a bunch of spice, but as if there was none in there, it tasted just like sugar and pumpkin pie filling, which most anyone can make The apple pie had zero cinnamon or spices in it, the apples were barely cooked down with the sugar, and they were either in a rush from doing too many orders or the person who was in charge of creating the pie filling did not taste it because that was just bad. The pecan pie filling was good, but it was cooked too long, and it coagulated too much to become a sticky mess. Normally, I wouldn't write a review but when it's about $100 for three pies and the quality is less than purchasing a pie at a major grocery chain, I want to save other people their money. The only problem is there is no problem. Everything is delicious. I have tried the almond croissant, raspberry crumb, apple galette, and the orange cardamom bundt. I have a weak spot for croissants and it checked all the boxes. Flaky buttery and just enough sweetness. The crumb cake was moist and a combo I am glad worked. The galette was a little more tart than I would have liked but otherwise fine. The bundt needs to go with a beverage as it is a denser cake. They have some more dessert like offerings, but their breakfast brunch offerings hit the mark any time of day. They also sell bread. They are renovating so only outdoor seating and a kiosk like counter to place your order. read more

We went in today and soon walked out. The menu has changed. No more baked french toast, in fact not much of anything. The menu has changed in the past, but was always appetizing and diverse. Now there is hardly anything interesting breakfast-wise, to choose from. Lunch items consist of a few sandwiches. This is the worst menu I have ever seen at Bleu Door, and we have been customers for years. We used to be seated to order. Now customers have to order at the counter before even finding a seat. Customer service used to be awesome, but now it seems there is not enough wait staff, and no one really seems to care anymore. Update: Bleu Door, Thank you for your reply. You have to try to baguettes! Everything else is amazing and the breakfast is always spectacular. I love the fried eggs and pastries.

Service was pretty good. HOWEVER, In the middle of our brunch I had to go past the pastries counter. The pastries are not behind any glass or under anything protective, and flies were landing and crawling ALL OVER the pastries! Needless to say, sadly I will not be having anymore food from here.
