I decide to go for breakfast on Sunday. It's a little early still but places are filling up. Inside the actual cafe there's an upper and lower area. The lower area was pretty full but the upper area was empty. I'm a single woman so I've often found that we are seated in a corner or the back or against a wall. I have zero problem going out to eat alone; I have a problem when they act like I'm a nuisance or they try to "hide" me. Sure enough, that's where they wanted to seat me. I asked if I could be seated in the two person seat at the top near the window and not shoved against the corner at the wall. It wasn't like I wanted a big table. The seat they chose for me was also a 2-person. "We won't have service there for about 20 minutes. This upper area isn't open." Odd. It's Sunday morning and there's a line behind me. Why wouldn't you have this area open when the lower area is filling up? I said "never mind. I would prefer not to be shoved in a corner." So I go to the walk up window and get a sandwich and tea. I come to sit at the plastic seating outside and imagine my surprise when I see people sitting at the table I had asked for. A couple, naturally. We wanted real croissants and this seemed to be a great place for that. I was very happy with the plain croissant - it was flakey/crisp on the outside, buttery soft on the inside. I wasn't sure what to expect with the cheese and bacon biscuit, it was substantial, cheesy with nice chunks of bacon. Probably not something to reheat in the microwave if you want to keep the original texture. The wife had the everything croissant, similar to an everything bagel. She thought it was a bit garlicky for her taste. The chocolate croissant was fantastic however. We shared an order of bignets which were true to form, the lemon curd was a nice topping. The wife's decaf Americano met her high expectations and I was delighted with the fresh squeezed orange juice. I usually prefer their vegan sweets but today I tried the veggie sandwich on ciabatta bread with pesto, carrots, mushrooms, and caramelized onions and I just don't get it... I understand this is a French bakery so I shouldn't expect anything veg but can we please put some effort into veggie options if they are on the menu for purchase? Came in for lunch with a friend on a Sunday around noon. No private parking lot available, only street parking, which is free on weekends in downtown Vancouver. We were able to find a parking spot less than a block from the restaurant entrance. All tables were full upon entering, so we put our name in and were told about a 10 minute wait. It ended up being about 20 minutes because some customers were reading/visiting after their meals. The 20 minutes was okay as we understand it's pretty hard to guage when people actually leave after paying, especially on a weekend. Once seated, we ordered right away. We had the beignets with lemon curd to start, and both ordered the BLTA sandwiches with Turkey ($2 additional). I opted for the bowl of fruit ($2 additional) instead of side salad. The beignets were delicious...warm and puffy. The sandwiches were really good too...bacon cooked perfectly. I would prefer sliced avocados versus the mashed avacado on my sandwich, but it was fine. Some of the fruit in my side bowl was under ripe (cantaloupe), but the pineapple was perfect. Overall a nice experience. Our server was attentive and friendly enough, given how busy they were during our visit. We would definitely return. Highly recommend. read more

Walked in here about 10am! Got seated about 20 mins later! It was super hectic and I was kind of concerned about the breakfast/lunch flip! We all know I love my breakfast! I ended up knowing what I wanted at 10am, 11am is the cut off! I would say I wouldn't get the hash again! I ended up going three more times and I loves the special omelette of the day, the marble toast and the coffee was pretty delicious! Ordered 2 pies for Thanksgiving this year and they were both a hit! The apple pie was perfection, with delicious apples and crumble top. The pumpkin pie was also very good with a great consistency. I'm never a huge fan of pie crust as it tends to be dry, but this crust was so soft and tasty! Everyone agreed that both pies were equally as good. Five of us came for lunch, early on a Saturday afternoon. When we phoned ahead, the bleu door told us that there was a 30--minute wait for a group of our size. We walked over to get a place on the waitlist and ended up being seated more or less immediately. It's clear that the Bleu Door Bakery is more of a brunch than a lunch spot. People come early, and they're done well before 1PM. Wile four of us ordered quiches, I decided on the Classic Breakfast. In my case, that meant two sunny-side-up eggs, some lightly browned potato pieces, two fairly long pieces of "double-thick bacon" (hyphen added by me) and a small butter croissant. I liked the potatoes and bacon and thought that the eggs for A-OK (but not at all as good as the eggs I buy at the farmer's market) and that the croissant could have been replaced by a few slices of toast. There were two quiches available -- one vegetarian and one not. I believe that our table got two slices of each quiche. Each slice of quiche comes with either pieces of fruit or a salad of "field greens." We ordered a mix. The quiche eaters were pretty happy. The Bleu Door was a friendly and cheerful spot that was perfect for our quiet social meeting. I was not especially wowed by my breakfast but thought that the kitchen did a perfectly fine job. So did the rest of the staff; in particular, the place closes up at 2PM but didn't rush us at the end of our meals. read more

This is a good choice for breakfast on Main Street. It's a small cute French bakery with excellent service. The weekend brunch has more menu items compared to the weekday breakfast and a better choice. It's very close to Main Street Marijuana in case you have the munchies. LOL I had the classic breakfast ($10) with chicken sausage and the cheese and bacon biscuit. It was good but not great. On the upside, the ingredients are good quality and the execution is good. What it lacks is some of the creative flare which it takes to be "Portlandia Brunch Village" status. All that said, it is one of the best breakfast/brunch options in the Couve.
