French chicken sandwich with red beans and rice
    Elizabeth A. H.

We took advice from others and parked free at Bally's casino. The restaurant's crawfish, catfish and shrimp are all imported. This is to keep the prices more reasonable. We were there for lunch and got the popcorn crawfish, French chicken sandwich and voodoo chicken sandwich. Both were tasty and the lunch menu was very reasonably priced. Our waitress was helpful and careful about allergy restrictions.

We had the absolute sweetest waitress! The vibe was very laid back & casual. Lots of business folk eating inside. We got boudin balls for an appetizer. They were fresh & warm. Good taste! The cornbread was good. The fried okra was fresh! So so good if you love okra. Not salted ant though. The crawfish étouffée is so mid. It's not even rate-able. The sauce itself tasted like water with a little flavor. Not worth paying for. The pecan crusted chicken is absolutely not pecan crusted. It's plain breading with a low quality chicken breast. The mustard sauce was gross. Very watery and tasted lukewarm a mayo dressing? Out of 10, I'd rate it a solid 3.

Whoa what a meal. Great place and vibe inside, service over the top and the flavors will knock you out. I had the Crawfish Combo. Fried crawfish tails, fried Cajun corn on the cob, jambalaya rice, and crawfish étouffée. This plate was so full of flavor it knocks you out. So stuff from eating this combo. Loved it.

This is my go to spot when I hit the casinos in the area. They are friendly, the vibes are relaxed and the food doesn't miss. Red beans are my favorite.

Tasty! I came here from out of town and really enjoyed the okra and the crab cakes. I loved the ambiance of the place and it has a rustic charm about it. Our server was so sweet and was good at refilling our beverages. I will say that the main downfall was that our meals were all served with my husband's order missing. They ended up bringing it later and did not charge us for it. I appreciated the way they handled the mistake. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic experience with some good Cajun food.

Yelped this place while driving through from Conroe on our way to Meridian MS. We love Cajun food and the atmosphere was quaint, service was awesome and we loved the food.. gumbo had a dark roux like we love and blackened shrimp and blackened catfish.

Staying at Bally's Casino, this restaurant is just a short walk up the plaza. Probably about a quarter-mile so an easy walk. While we never felt unsafe, there were certainly interesting folks along the walk so I'd advise to walk in groups. The place is nice and the lunch crowd this day around 1:00 is usually a good sign when you've got a couple large groups along with a slight waiting time for a table. We had reservations set for 10 but then 15 of us showed up. A tip of the cap to them for still helping us and certainly very understanding as to the slower service given their accommodation. The food however, I am compelled to say that it's either hit or miss. My wife and I started with appetizers of red beans and rice ($3.95) and mush puppies (fried boudin balls $8.95). I thought the beans and rice were fairly bland but you know the Tabasco seems to fix everything. The mush puppies were quite good, however and so the procession of good and bad started and became the theme for the day. I ordered the Bayou Crabcake dinner ($14.95) and I thought it very good. For the most part they seemed to do fried very well here. The flavor of the day, however, was not something I ordered, but my cousin instead. Fried Catfish was the clear winner, making me wish I had ordered it, but nonetheless enjoying every bite shared with me. Such a light and flavorful fry and the entire table very much agreed this is a must order for next time. My wife is always a sucker for sampler platters and this place proved to be no different. She ordered the crawfish combo ($20.95) and I would have to say that it wasn't worth it. The meat pie was not liked by anyone, the crawfish etouffee also bland, and the fried crawfish just tasted a little funny. My wife ended up eating one of my crab cakes instead. Very friendly staff and the runner who brought out the food was polite throughout and made several trips. The vast majority of our party were either service folks or former bar owners so they were certainly taken care of with a tip added to the bill for large party. Hate having to navigate through good and bad items so next time I'd just recommend the mush puppies, crab cakes, and catfish as surefire winners. Also loved the fried ears of corn and the cole slaw. Price seemed to be fine at around $70 after tip including a beer and iced tea on our bill. If you need a quick walk to getaway from the tables and one-armed bandits this might do the trick. Just be careful what you order.

Sad plate of fish, I ate the popcorn shrimp already

Don't order lunch portion fish and shrimp. They have good food here but should be illegal what the sell as 3 piece fish and shrimp lunch plate. They take one small filet and trim it up Into 3 little slivers the size of a French fry. The shrimp are small as well. Now don't get me wrong, they taste good, but not worth even paying for. The service is great, all the girls have been there for a minute and they know their job well. I'm just disappointed in manager calling this a 3 piece fish plate, they should do better, if I was manager I'd be embarrassed if my kitchen sent out this plate. I asked I get it about once every 3/4 months hoping it was just a fluke or bad cook but it's been the same every time for last couple years.

The chef lost their absolute mind today and achieved total redemption for The Blind Tiger's CATFISH. Perri was by far the best waiter I've had here---very nice and attentive. Super crispy, flaky and flavorful...this is the catfish I'm familiar with from this establishment. I ordered the salad and Silly Rabbit again and both were good. Delicioso in my torso

    Gumbo

I am an out of towner and this is the 4th Cajun restaurant we have eaten at. Hands down the best Gumbo so far. Dark roux w shrimp, oysters and rice. The roux was perfect! Not too thick and not too soupy! I will be back just for Gumbo. We also had seafood cakes appetizer. They were perfectly cooked with a cornmeal crust filled with mostly fish. Didnt notice any crab or shrimp. Never the less, they were tasty when dipped in the house remoulade sauce! Think of it as an elevated fish patty! I had the Sampler plate. The blackened catfish was good but Ive had better. The étouffée was tasty, but I can really judge since it was the first time trying it. It was packed w shrimp. Glad I tried it. The stars of the platter were the cajun corn which was coated in cajun spices and deep fried!! Absolutely unique to me and delicious! But the Jambalaya rice was my favorite to the Gumbo. Soooo much cajun flavor. I know its a side but it was so flavorful and rice was nicely cooked. We shared the bread pudding. Average at best. I expect more. The interior is a mix of an old gaslamp type restaurant mixed with a bar! Well there is a bar in the middle. Lively noisy place but fun with good food. We will be back. I recommend this place especially for out of towners looking for good cajun food!

Food is still very tasty and good but the portion is smaller than in the past. Our waitress was attentive, knows the menu and suggested recommendations for us. I ordered the Cajun Sampler which I enjoyed very much.

Great ambience! Plenty of parking and some interesting drinks. I ordered the Mush Puppies and they weren't bad. The gumbo was tasty. The Cajun Sampler was a nice tasting of LA cuisine! I highly recommend the blackened fish for sure! Bread pudding wasn't bad.

I attended with a local friend and he confirmed this is authentic. The experience: Friendly staff, a long restaurant with a bar section, followed by the condiments section, followed by a whole other bar somehow? I didn't poke my head back there but I found that intriguing. More on the condiments: They come with any sandwich. I probably took unfair advantage by taking enough lettuce, tomatoes, and onions to make an entire salad. I then asked for dressing, which they happily provided at no charge. And sandwiches? Do get. Delicious bread. The default bread appears to be the French - you could opt for their sourdough if you like - and it's not toasted. I love soft bread, and the po' boy was divine as a result. I loved the boudin. I loved that they have alligator sausage in multiple places on the menu. I loved everything about this place except the fact that summer means just about all of the beers were light, and I had to hunt and peck to find beers more my style. Which I did. And maybe those beers are lingering as I type this review. But BeauxJax gave me the warm, fuzzy, welcoming feeling I love in a restaurant. A great stop in Bossier. Worth a detour from Shreveport. Legitimate Cajun.
