We were sat immediately as it was pretty late in the afternoon, we were given drinks quickly, our food came quickly. I ordered the crab cake dinner and they were really good especially w/ the remoulade sauce. I got the crawfish étouffée as my side and it was fine but didn't wow me, but that's okay. I did notice later I never got the cajun fried corn it was supposed to come w/ but I doubt I would've made it that far anyways. I got the chicken burger with bacon and cheese and it was just ok. The patty itself was pretty thin, not your typical hearty chicken sandwich. Honest Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich was more filling and had better flavor. I would have liked more than one chunky tomato slice (possibly a few thin slices to enjoy with the entire sandwich) and dill pickle slices instead of that one sliver of pickle. I traded my fries for a fried corn and wowzers, that was a fantastic decision. I never had fried corn on the cob before, but I'll never eat corn the same. I will definitely order a different main dish next time, but will add at minimum 2 fried corns. read more

First - you'll probably miss it the first time so make sure you look at the pictures because it's a corner store. There's street parking all around. Came in and got seated right away. Our server was very attentive to our table - so huge plus for his customer service! We ordered The Blind Tiger alcoholic drink because the note was funny on the menu. We wanted to dare ourselves to try an alcoholic drink that wasn't good and ... The Blind Tiger was DELICIOUS. They're generous with their pours - thank you Blind Tiger! We ended up ordering a second jar but we upgraded the size to the 32oz. It's a pretty girly/summer drink. Easy downer and pairs well with a cajun meal. I had the cajun sampler with gumbo and jambalaya. It's been 2 weeks since my meal and I am CRAVING it. We probably should have saved this restaurant for the end of our trip because every meal after was not as memorable. Now - it was my first time having Louisiana gumbo so I'm not sure what standards are but it was incredibly savoring and every bite was just enough saltiness. I truly enjoyed the gumbo offered here. Their jambalaya (again not sure what great jambalaya standards are) is delicious as well! Between the two - the gumbo was more savoring and worthwhile. The blackened fish is so easy to eat. My absolute favorite was the cajun corn on a cob. SERIOUSLY WHO INVENTED THIS?! DELICIOUS!! I will probably never eat corn the same back in California. I found myself in Shreveport again on business and saw this place on Yelp and thought I try it. I was looking for a good beer joint and am glad I came here. I chose the "Commotion" APA from Great Raft Brewing and was delighted by the taste! With faint, fleeting hints of grapefruit, I found the beer to be an exceptional ale without being too bitter. Some folks had warned me that it was too bitter, but I didn't find this to be true. As I wasn't that hungry, I opted for the meat pies appetizer and the "Seafood Gumbeaux" for the main course. The meat pies were very good, if not too hot, actually. However, who complains about the food being too hot? Not this guy. As for the "Seafood Gumbeaux"? Sweet Jack Lord's Hair! Hands down the best gumbo I've ever tasted. A dark roux gumbo overloaded with baby shrimp, crab, oysters, and spices made this dish beyond flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it! We stopped at this place on our way home from DFW to North Carolina. We wanted some good cajun, and that is what we got. The place was hopping at lunch time. Our server was prompt, helpful, and efficient. My wife had seafood gumbo and I had crawfish etoufee. We split an apetizer of crab cakes and they were very good. after our meal we asked for a dessert recommendation and the server immediately said "bread pudding." It was excellent. My husband got a cup of etouffee to start. I was SO delicious and meaty and thick. I have the spice beef and pork meat pies. Oh so good. Especially with the zesty mustard sauce. We split a plate because in not a big eater. We had the shrimp and catfish plate with dirty rice. The portions were huge. We had an overall good experience here. Best dish we had was the crab cakes! Plenty crab meat, not overly breaded, and seasoned well. For my entree I ordered the catfish grand bayou. The actual fish was good, seasoned well, and dirty rice tasted good. The 4 out of 5 is due to the crawfish ettouffee that covered it, it tasted watered down. Seems like it was frozen, thawed out, then thrown on top. Same with the Cajun sampler, all was good except the ettouffee. Atmosphere is nice, southern and laid back. Located in a cute little spot of Shreveport, will look nicer once the nearby bridge construction is complete. Drinks are strong, and walking distance from a few of the casinos. Decent middle-of-the-road cajun food. This is definitely coastal cajun food instead of prairie. The menu is heavy on seafood which is fine, but some of the dishes were great while others didn't quite make the cut. The good: -Boudin balls were excellent and the mustard dipping sauce made them even better. -Both the dirty rice and jambalaya were quite good, I just wish they offered these dishes as a main instead of a side The not so good: -The shrimp in both the gumbo and etouffee seemed to be an after-thought. To me, it tasted like the shrimp was cooked separately and put in to the sauce and the gumbo after it was finished. This was more so pronounced in the etouffee than the gumbo. We drove over an hour to Shreveport to dine at the Horseshoe Buffet. To our surprise, we learned that all buffets inside casinos had been closed due to the pandemic. The red beans were great with a food meat ratio. The cornbread was moist and flavorful. We also had pork/beef meat pies which were flaky and not greasy. I also had the shrimp platter. The etouffee and jambalaya were very good not dry all at. The shrimp were big very clean and had the perfect amount of batter on them. Let me tell you that I am so glad that we walked from the hotel because I had to walk some of it off just to be able to breath. I would definitely recommend this place. I RAVED about the blackened catfish, and convinced my guest to join me here. I'm not sure if there was an amateur chef on last night or what.?!. But I want to leave a recommendation, I've been a cook for several years, and I also know when working for restaurant establishments there are recipes that have to be followed, so that dishes taste the same.
