Second visit to this small shop in Kaimuki. Air-conditioned...which I appreciate...as I sweat like a pig. I am not sure, but I think only the owner cuts hair, on both occasions there were no other barbers. Parked on 10th Avenue and walked. There is some street parking on 8th and metered parking on Waialae Ave. She was fast and efficient on both occasions. I think I interrupted her lunch and being a walk-in customer, I said that there was no hurry. Once she started cutting my hair, two other customers walked in...just got in ahead of a mini-rush. Tina is GREAT!!!! She always cuts my hair perfectly and quickly!!! I pull up in the no parking zone right in front, which is always open but the cops don't mess with. She cuts my hair in like 10 minutes, for $15 and I'm back on my way. I usually tip her because it's just such a great service in such a convenient spot (especially with the parking being right there) and I wanna see these kinda businesses around for long time. Mom had an appointment at Orthopedic clinic nearby and got there early so wheeled her around the corner when I found the shop. There weren't many places I could take her in since many of the shops had a step up. I was just thinking she could use a haircut and this shop was the only place without a step and actually had a little ramp down into the shop and a door wide enough for the wheelchair. Perfect! The beautician wasn't busy either so took her in and was able to cut mom's hair without having to move her to a chair. She did a great job and was quick so mom was very pleased also. She's got an intuition that can fill in the blanks, I tell her just a little off the top and she always cuts the right amount. She knows how to make your hair look good without much instruction. I'm a regular at one of the "chain" hair cutting places for years, but one day they turned me away 10 minutes prior to closing so I walked into this place instead. Paying $15 instead of $21 for a haircut seems a no brainer, especially because my 'do doesn't require high maintenance. Yeah, the parking sucks here but value, speed, friendliness check all the right boxes for me. :o) all the other reviews for Tina are pretty much on the money, the negative reviews probably are due to higher maintenance hairstyles and expectations. Great place for a quick no nonsense haircut. I was in and out in 15 minutes and my hair looked great. Owner Tina, is very personable and caring. My grandfather always cuts his hair here too and loves how fast and accurate she is with the sheers. Love the neck massage she gives after the haircut too! Bottom line, if you want a quick, cheap, and precise haircut go there. Been here 3 times since everyone seemed to like it so much. My experience has generally been the same: quick, efficient, no nonsense haircut for less than $20 with tip. (I'm not too sure what her actual rate is but I generally give her $17-20 since its worth at least that much.) She can be a bit brash with the buzzer or her straight razor, but I think thats to be expected when your haircut is under the 15 minute mark. The quick neck or shoulder massage after the cut is a nice touch, (pun not intended) something I could use a bit more of. Will be returning whenever I need a haircut! read more

My boyfriend desperately needed a hair cut because his usual hairstylist went on vacation. We yelped a barber near us and this place popped up. It's near home and got some "good" reviews so we thought we should give it a try. The shop is very small, and I guess she's the owner and is the only one working. One word "HORRIBLE" I think we should have stuck with our original plan going to Super Cuts down the road. They would have probably given him a better hair cut. If not, decent! My boyfriends side burns are crooked! His hair looks like it's been cut two weeks ago. Let's just say his whole hair cut is flat out horrible. If you're trying to get a hair cut within 6 mins. Seems most people have either loved or hated this place. If you are expecting a fashion cut, forget it. If you want a quick, low cost, but still decent haircut, this is the place. Just like the others, I've only had great haircuts here. She is very talented because she can accomplish in 15 min what takes others twice as long or even longer. I also like hat fact she takes walk-ins. Last couple of times I just called Tina and asked if I could come in right at that moment and both times I was able to. I have finally found a Barbershop that the Stylist listens to what you say and gives a great haircut at a great cost. I have lived here for 7 years now and have been all over the island rarely going to the same place more than 1 or 2 times for a haircut but not any more.
