My friend and I had a wonderful first visit at Bliss Tea & Treats with Rushell! Her current location is in her transformed back patio. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as you walk through the entrance gate, you are transported to a lovely tea garden.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We did make reservations ahead as it is reservation only. Rushell greeted us and we were quickly seated. We chose the La Dolce Vita Tea Experience. We were able to sniff the tea leaves first in individual test tubes which absolutely helped me pick my tea. I loved that experience! Once everything was selected, we were brought out our teas and salads. The salad was refreshing and I especially enjoyed the fresh tomatoes, garbanzo beans, and house vinaigrette. I had the Eiffel tea and absolutely loved it. I typically prefer black teas with either hints of floral or fruit notes and this tea had the perfect combination. We were then given our individual towers/ tea tiers which consisted of three sandwiches (smoked salmon pinwheels, apple Brie melt, and Prosciutto, Feta And Balsamic Fig Sandwich) of our choosing, a cranberry orange cake scone with creme Fraîche and strawberry preserves, and a trio of desserts (lemon cake with blueberries, petite four, and a rosemary shortbread). I honestly loved everything I ordered. I loved the cake scone as it was very moist and the sandwiches were all divine with powerful flavors in each bite. I didn't love the creme fraîche, as I prefer clotted cream with my scones, but it does offer a great break from sweetness of the cake scone. I especially enjoyed how toasted the Apple Brie melt was. I love short breads and petite fours, so I'm a bit biased but they were my favorite desserts. Not only did we have a lovely time due to the atmosphere, tea, and delicious food, but we thoroughly enjoyed Rushell herself! She was so welcoming and shared so much with us. Honestly, the service was amazing. The owner Rushell is the hostess with the most is for sure. She truly outdid herself and made the high tee time so personalized and customized. This place is such a gem! So hard to find places where they serve a nice pot of tea, especially after Covid. I'm sure I'll be frequenting this spot often in the future! We walked in on a holiday weekend, and got three teapots (crème brûlée, Eiffel, blueberry green tea) and the crème brûlée was LIQUID GOLD and tasted so good (both sweet and unsweetened). If was like a dessert in a tea cup. I would come back just for that tea. Their teapots also have warmers on the bottom to keep it warm, and they also offer sweetener and cream if you request it. This is a hard review to write because I really wanted to like this location overall. The concept, teas and dessert selections were great. They even have a way to help you understand the scents and therefore the taste of the tea blends with vials that you can smell (really smart and innovative for a small tea house). The decor was so cute, plenty of small tables and a couple of small couches. Possibly a Harry Potter theme (I'm not into the books but saw several references). Now on the other side of things, the service was... something I hope improves. The waiter was really nice but so vague when it came to prices/options. To a point where he completely contradicted himself TWICE. Once with a tea request (we picked a pot over a cup based on his recommendation, and it was probably more worthwhile to have ordered multiple teas). Secondly, he misspoke on a price that I asked specifically to clarify - so I got charged more than double. It's just the communication that was unclear overall. Lastly, the manager/owner was just not friendly. If I met her out and about, I wouldn't think much of it. But knowing she was running the business, makes me question going back. read more

On June 30, 2024 three of my best friends and I celebrated two of their birthdays in a very lovely garden setting enjoying finger sandwiches, desserts, scones and endless choices of teas. Rushell, the owner and founder of Bliss Tea, and Jake, our server, outdid themselves making us very comfortable and attending to our every need. I had never been to high tea before, and Rushell explained the celebration very clearly. Jake patiently described the menu experiences and selections and even brought a tray of glass tybes with different tea blends for us to smell. This was definitely not a rushed experience and we all enjoyed the event. Food was excellent and service was top notch. The lovely garden setting was accompanied by warm San Diego breezes and just enough sun to warrant the umbrella shades. I highly recommend Bliss Tea and Treats for your next intimate gathering. They make it in house, it's legit BREAD PUDDING, and ummmm it's tasty. Well, I sent pictures of this beautifully decorated, charming and cute little place, of the tea and food to my kids and shared dessert with my mom and dad. My daughter lives in the Bay Area and drinks tea all the time. She was impressed we bought a French Press lol . I may take my mom next week. So many beverages to choose from. The cake is kinda limited, but maybe because we got there a little bit before their closing time. We ordered 2 cakes, and both of them were a bit on the sweeter side. They both came with a side of fresh fruit, which was great to cut down the sweet. The decor was nice and quiet. They should rename this place NADA TEA because that's what you get after an hour of being seated - NADA, nothing, zilch! So I'm gonna break this place down for you: FOOD: Frozen and nonexistent. Wanna know how I know? Because after being seated I waited 30 minutes to just put in an order. READ THAT AGAIN: 30 minutes to put in an order (and this place only had one other table with 2 people). Then waited another 30 minutes to get ONE hot chocolate that was made with Hershey syrup (nothing fancy here folks, so don't expect much). And I know the food is frozen because I had an open view of the kitchen and saw it all. And I say the food is nonexistent because after WAITING ONE HOUR we still never got any food, at which point we left. SERVICE: Slow as molasses going up hill. Oh and a "teapot" is the same size as a cup of tea (but more on that later). There were two servers and one was the manager so you would expect better service or think she would at least care. Nope! After waiting 30 minutes to put our order in, she came back to us 15 minutes after that to double check our order and we told her we wanted POTS of teas, NOT cups. Easy peasy, right? Welp who would've thunk getting TEA at a tea place would be so mind bending - the manager, that's who. Because even after that NOTHING was delivered to the table - no tea, no food, nada. There was another table in the place that just kept looking around and at us with a "this place sucks, right?" Face. 30 minutes waiting to order 15 minutes to get one hot chocolate 15 minutes for manager to double check order = 1 hour of no tea and no food and our cue to leave. TEA: Overpriced and over measured. So this is my FAVORITE part of my no tea and no food experience at this tea house. I approach the manager and let her know that we've been waiting an hour and we'd like to just checkout and leave. And off the bat she gives me an attitude and acts like it's my fault and says "Fine. Want your teas to go?" I know it's all just to charge me the most she can before I leave so I say "yes thank you." And I $#it you not she takes the 3 teapots we ordered and pours each teapot into three to-go cup and charges me $40. So their "teapots" are the size of to-go cups. I can't help but laugh at this point bc the joke is completely on me for coming here and I apologize profusely to the other guests in my party ... which brings me to my next point - Yelp reviews. OTHER YELP REVIEWS: I'm pretty sure a lot of the positive reviews are paid or incentivized because there is no way we could have the terrible experience we had with this place having a 4.5 star rating on Yelp. So needles to say I'm never coming back here and the people I came with are never coming back nor we will recommend it. UPDATE AND RESPONSE TO MANAGER BELOW: No. Upon arrival one table was checking out and only one other table was seated, it was when we were leaving that a few other customers trickled in. Also, we were calm and very patient with you and the other younger waitress. And as someone who has worked in the food and beverage industry, I recommend you take this 1 star review to do better and not just blame the customers. My granddaughters and I love afternoon tea. I was looking for a new experience closer to home and came across Bliss Tea & Treats. After reading some reviews I decided to give it a try. More modern and cheerful than the tea rooms we've been to in the past. There are games and drawing supplies to keep the kiddos busy while you wait. Rushell gifted us a kit to make beaded bracelets while we waited. It was a kind gesture and kept my hungry granddaughters busy. I like the tea options. We were offered a sample of hot tea. I wish I could remember what it was. I loved it. You don't have to have hot tea and my granddaughters loved the choices. One had a peach Bellini mock tail made with peaches from the owners very own tree! My other granddaughter enjoyed a boba tea. Each of us had our very own three tiered treat stand with sandwiches and assorted treats. The sandwiches are delicious. My favorite was the chicken salad. Kids can be picky and hard to please but they loved the sandwiches especially the grilled cheese. Their favorite treat was the s'more made with colored marshmallows and the scones. Went to bliss today for the first time with my family. (It was our first post covid experience after all being vaccinated). It was incredible. First off, the business is very clean. Next, The staff was wonderful. The you g girl at the counter was so pleasant and sweet. You can tell she might have been a newer hire BUT that didn't stop her from being so friendly and taking her time with us. The Owner, Rushell, was an absolute gem. Nothing goes unnoticed and you can tell the owners have it all down to a delightful T. On to the food, we order grilled cheese, Italian, and albacore tuna. We also got the turtle brownie, Oreo cake, butterfly lemonade and multiple teas. I am not exaggerating when I say, everything was DELICIOUS. I visited here during O'side's first Mardi Gras celebration and had a great little meal. The decor is SUPER cute and it was all done up in its New Orleans best! I'd like to go back and have the full tea room experience at some point. I found the prices for the tea "experience" are very very much in line with other tea rooms that offer this in OC and Temecula. It's a tea room, so you're not going to get American "Claim Jumper-sized" servings here, so keep that in mind, although I will say the desserts are very normal portions. I had the Prosciutto, Fig and Feta Cheese sandwich which was a great blend of flavors, super tasty (and cute) and came with a small mixed green salad. I also had the lemon bar which was also great. I asked the sweet girl behind the counter what their best-selling green tea was since I couldn't make up my mind and she recommended their "Happy Place" tea. I absolutely loved the recommendation because it was excellent and went well with my little open-faced sandwich and lemon bar. Seriously... I was so excited to see a place to go to tea in Oceanside. So, I immediately arranged for two friends and my husband to visit this weekend. We made a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. The location has a lovely combination of whimsy and practicality from the delightful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling to the floral accents draped on the walls and ceilings. Fresh floral bouquets adorned every table. The staff wore self-created (or at least, that is my understanding) ensembles compromised of tutus, corsets and crowns which delighted my inner child. I would say that they need a little more training in presenting a formal tea service. That said, they were friendly and obviously trying their best. The food was delicious. The desserts are either made in house or by a local baker. The sandwiches were tasty and filling. The selection of teas was robust and flavorful. If something was missing, we just asked for it and the staff accommodated our request. We were not rushed and spent a lovely morning chatting.
