Good BBQ for Idaho I love my barbecue, it's been one of my favorite foods growing up as a kid. Coming to Idaho from the South has made finding good foods difficult. Especially when you're coming from Virginia and have not only barbecue but all kinds of various ethnic foods in Washington DC. So what does a Southerner do when they come to a new place? Look for some good barbecue. Found it, and not only did I find a good place but I also found a classic scene for a barbecue place that you would find only in the South. Blisters is located in a gas station, which for many who aren't used to this concept will probably be turned off by the idea of going to a gas station for some good barbecue. Now I didn't give them a Five star and it's not anything wrong with them, I've just have had a slightly better bbq place since being in Idaho. But if I had to choose what is available in Rexburg. I would choose Blisters. The barbecue isn't Texas style, which is okay (I guess). The brisket sandwich is really really good. Every now and then I may get waffle fries with my sandwich if I haven't eaten most of the day. But honestly I'm set with just the sandwich. It's really filling, and very delicious. I haven't been disappointed yet by the food. And the staff are respectable and friendly. Over all I have had a great experience with them and would recommend them to anyone looking for good barbecue in Rexburg. read more

So this place is fun, and the food is decent. I recommend the brisket, and loaded fries. The sauce they have on the table is a little funky though haha. Kinda taste like ketchup and marinara sauce mix. Overall a decent place to eat. Prices are fairish. read more

I really wanted to try the brisket sandwich from here, because I was missing the juicy, delicious taste of brisket. Sadly, they shred their brisket and toss it in BBQ sauce. It was okay, but I was just expecting an actual slice of brisket. My husband got the Tri-Tip sandwich which came with cheese, and it was pretty good dipped in ranch. The sandwiches would have been so much better if they used higher quality buns. Their buns taste really cheap. The fries were really good though! read more

Best BBQ in the area, with some reservations. The Carolina style BBQ (vinegar based) is very delicious. The options of meat are perfectly smoked and juicy. They have recently expanded their menu, with some tasty additions. The reservations come as I've seen portion sizes shrink and prices increast.The bread rolls were changed a while back and the new ones aren't as good. I recommend the tri-tip, brisket, and the reuben. Get the waffle fries and their fry sauce as well. read more

My wife and I used to always come here for lunch after both of our long shifts at work and it was a delicious break. Then we found that the quality of food was going down. My wife ate the pulled pork sandwich and they used to use nice juicy meat and fresh buns that were delicious then they changed. The meat became only burnt pieces and the buns became the same cheap ones you can buy at Walmart. For the money we were going it didn't feel like we got our moneys worth. read more

I can't give a review on the bar-b-que because they didn't have any. I went about 7 pm on a Thursday and they were out of anything pork, (including ham), brisket, ribs, etc. They did have two slices of tri-tip left that they could make into a sandwich (as long as you weren't expecting much meat in the sandwich). I gave that to my son who said the meat was good. The rest of us settled for turkey sandwich, Reuben, and cheese steak sandwich. The sandwiches were decent. The cheese steak was served on a hotdog bun and was too salty and overall OK but not worth anywhere near the $9 charged. The fries for an extra cost were really good though. I will try to post a pic of the new sign with the prices raised two dollars. A bar-b-que joint with no bar-b-que would not be so disappointing if it was because the meat was so good it sold out but it appears the place is run by high school/college kids who just don't plan well. I am from St. Louis so my standards of BBQ are very high. This place is alright but definitely the best bbq you're getting here. I love the fries here and I also really like the rice bowl. Are there better BBQ places in the world? Sure there are. If you happen to be in N. Carolina, or Texas, then go to one of those better places. If you're in Rexburg, and you want BBQ, then you can't beat Blister's. P.S. - Get the tri-tip sandwich. The tri-tip sandwich is the bomb. read more

I was visiting friends in Rexburg for the weekend and they took me here. I'm from North Carolina and this is LEGIT southern, NC style BBQ! I haven't found anything like this out west until now. Pretty good food. Cuban sandwich is my favorite! The fries can be over seasoned, so I recommend asking for half the normal seasoning.

This place is good; there is no question about that. The burgers are juicy, the brisket is tasty, and the pulled pork is awesome. I would give it five stars, but I would expect to get a little more food for my money with a little joint in the back of a gas station. $7.50 for a burger isn't unheard of, but it usually comes with a sit-down restaurant that is a lot fancier than this and includes sides. The first word that comes to mind is inconsistent. I've had good food here and I've had terrible food here. Fries have been old and cold on multiple occasions. They also should figure out some other type of bread for their sandwiches because it's constantly falling apart and gets incredibly soggy. The location is unappealing and frankly is a little gross. The sauce is really good, and the fries are pretty dang good too. Reasonably priced, keeps you full for a long time, and really quality considering the cost. Absolutely disgusting. We had heard wonderful things about Blisters so despite the first attempt at eating there, we decided to give them a second chance. Big mistake. We paid for the food, expecting it to be good, and I even paid a tip because they make you do that before you even get your food. I don't know why they expect a tip because their tables were all dirty, the food was cold, and we had to get our own sauces and our own food. Essentially we served ourselves. There was a girl worker there being a nuisance the whole time, giving free food to a group of freshmen and talking about all the guys she kissed. When they left she told the other workers that it pays to flirt even though you're married so you can get tips. I only mention this because it added to my disgust for eating in a gas station. Do yourself a favor and don't eat there. I think people think it's so great because they consider it a "hidden gem" in a gas station - and there aren't a lot of great places to eat in Rexburg. We got the brisket both times, and both times it was neither soft nor tasty. We also got the tri-tip, which wasn't that bad. I won't ever eat there again. read more
