A lot of people go here for the coffee, but I'm definitely coming back for the food! It's been a good year since I'd had a chance to stop by BLOC, but the stars aligned over the weekend! I got a regular ole black coffee. They use Deeper Roots , so I knew it would be delish. Anyhoo, I got the special breakfast sandwich.... Cannot remember the name of it, but it was egg, cheese, goetta and bacon jam on an everything bagel. Yep. It was delish!! The goetta was smash burger thin, which was fine! It's already a hefty sandwich. Their menu has changed a bit since my last visit, so I'm hoping the universe allows me to visit again soon!!! read more

My sister and our friends stopped in here Monday after lunch to grab coffees before heading back home from our girls weekend. Staff were friendly, but oddly pushy about a coffee club/rewards card (pretty sure it was free, so it makes it more weird) despite us all coming in as a group and individually letting them know we aren't from the area and don't know anyone who could use it. All 4 of us were excited to see the French toast latte they had on the board by the register, but upon tasting it we all felt it didn't taste anything like French toast, which was a let down. I currently have a sore throat, so I had also ordered a hot tea in hopes that by the time I was done with my coffee the tea would be cooled down enough to drink and then I'd also be able to have another warm beverage to drink on the drive home. My plan worked out perfectly, but sadly the tea I selected tasted strongly of hand soap and was incredibly unpleasant to drink. It felt great for my throat, but after each sip I had to drink water to help flush the taste out. I ordered a jasmine green tea and have never had that issue before, so I'm not sure if it's just the brand they use or what. The inside was very clean and they had plenty of tables to sit and work from or catch up with friends. They also had an upstairs area for more space to set up camp for a while. The decor was very in your face about how faith-based they are as a company, they even had bibles sitting out on the ledge you pick up your drinks from, so definitely not for everyone. This is an amazing business that not only has great drinks and food, but they also are giving back to the community and supporting some great causes. The shop itself is amazing to meet in. Whether you come by yourself to work or read or if you are with a friend or if you come with a group. They have two levels and some meeting rooms. I had noticed this coffee shop on a previous trip over here for dinner. I had a day off, and decided to give it a try. Ordered their old fashioned French toast with a side of bacon, and their peanut butter pie latte. First, the latte - very nice, subtle peanut butter flavor. Doesn't slap you in the face. I really liked this. While I was waiting for my food to come out, I had time to check out the vibe of this place. Good music selection playing in the background, not so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Plenty of seating. The building sits on a corner, so plenty of natural light coming in as well. Chill vibe, I dig it. Finally, the food. They make their French toast using challah bread, which is a favorite of mine. It was delicious. The side of bacon was a nice serving as well (4 pieces). As I visit Bloc for first time, I found out that it had been here since 2007. And have been supporting women in Cincinnati who are escaping sex industry and addictions. I'm so glad I took a chance and try this coffee shop out today. The employees are totally sweet and courteously. The space is decked out with Xmas spirit. Not only that, they have all type of art displayed for purchase. The food and drink came out great! I order a matcha latte, and it was really a Matcha Latte, not all sweeten like all other stores. The only Con is the street parking, but so far with all the Pros, I'm coming back again soon for sure read more

I love this coffee shop! Whenever I'm in Ohio, I make a point to stop by BLOC, specifically for the Romano drink, which is a blueberry oat milk latte, aka the best beverage I've ever had. Recently, I tried their oatmeal and it was superb. None of that instant nonsense from a packet, this was the real deal, topped with pepitas, craisins, and my request of brown sugar. Their bagel sandwiches are also tasty, as are their cookies and other pastries items when fresh. I love the old building, how eclectic it is, with items from local artists for sale when you enter. The upstairs is also quaint, available to rent for gatherings, and other times fun to relax, sip coffee, or even a different scenery to get work done in. All of the natural lighting is beautiful upstairs, too. Part of the proceeds go towards ending human trafficking. Coffee with a cause? Yes please! read more

What a great space! I loved the community vibe, and my dirty chai was delicious. The staff were friendly and warm on one of the coldest March days. There was a full menu and treats everywhere (even gluten-free cookies), but unfortunately, I wasn't hungry :( Next time will be different! It was such a diverse range of folks coming in and out that I felt comfortable and loved to see it. I think I overheard that there was a pottery show upstairs, too, which sounded super cute. If you haven't been, you need to drop what your doing and get to Mt Hope for great food, coffee, and more... I have been several times and realized I had never shared my experience. I have been for breakfast and lunch for dine in and multiple take-aways and always had great experiences. On top of Mt Hope near the Incline House and Primavista, the shop is in an incredibly interesting building and there is plenty of parking. Near downtown Cincinnati, it is an easy stop in your way to work or to shoot up the hill for lunch. The shop has a contemporary, laid back feel that makes you want to pull up a chair and "work from home" awhile or have an informal business meeting. Enjoy a cup! read more

First off, the iced mocha with oat milk was just Devine. One sip and I was in Heaven. There's just something to say about a true latte and not just some cheap crap from a chain shop. It was so good I had to tip the barista twice. Second, being from out of town, I was a bit let down by the service. I felt a few times as if it was annoying for me to ask for a cup for water or even mention anything to the staff. I'm used to everyone at coffee shops being overly helpful, but they seemed very to themselves. Maybe an off day, or it's just a place that has become so normally self/serve that the locals are used to it. It did seem that most of the patrons were neighborhood regulars. I would come here just for the building. The old Mason Lodge building is simply stunning, and the renovations to the interior are trendy, fun and make for a cozy study/ meeting place. For the first time in about 100 years, I am going to use the word "upmarket" to describe an establishment in East Price Hill (hey, Primavista - never thought your 70s styling new construction was particularly classy, sorry). For the confused masses, BLOC closed the location on Price Ave. quite some time ago (seemingly disappearing without explanation into thin air) but reopened at 801 Mt. Hope Ave. on October 8, 2018. I think I hit the soft reopening a bit early, as I was there the first day that food was added back to the menu. Grand Reopening is scheduled for October 27th, and my latte was already on pointe. Take everything in: BLOC reopening means the revitalization of another corner in the incline district and the repurposing of a beautiful and important historical retail building. Look up pictures from before the renovation and you'll see this building could have easily fallen into decay and been lost. Want a real taste of possibility? Walk down Mt. Hope and see the beautiful renovation opportunities that exist in some of the grand old homes that grace this street. read more

Very cute exterior and interior, fantastic staff, good coffee, and the chipotle egg sandwich was so beyond fresh and delicious, no doubt one of the best and unique breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Look here. This is going to be a cozy and simple review because BLOC is so cozy and so simple and it works so well. Cozy space with tables and big windows to bring in light, find a place to sit and do yourself a favor and order some food! Now to the simple part: BLOC has a wonderful menu with breakfast items that seem simple (and it is) but packed with flavor and great presentation. From the loaded grill cheese to the avocado toast, and the Pricehill breakfast plate - everything tastes fresh and delicious. I actually look more forward to the breakfast than any coffee item. Visiting family this weekend and had passed BLOC Coffee before since it is right down the street from their place. I woke up this morning and decided to go to BLOC to try it out for the first time - was excited to try them out and get some tasty coffee & treats. My hopes were dashed when I rounded the corner and saw the chairs stacked and a closed sign! UGH! Despite my plans being foiled, I checked their Facebook and posted plenty of times about them being closed today for a BLOC staffers wedding (congrats!). It was nice to see them being supportive of their staff but more importantly it was nice to see them post that they would be closed - I have run into this many times before where there is just simply no notice given. So4 stars just for providing good communication on their social media channels. Looking forward to trying BLOC next time I am in town! Will update my review about the coffee/food/service then. read more

First time there today. Ambiance is great, owner was there and came to our table to greet us. I ordered a BLT & a mocha latte. Service was fairly quick for how busy they were. The sandwich would have been great, but the bread was over toasted to the point of being too hard to eat. I ended up just eat the bacon off of it (the bacon was delicious). The coffee was beautiful, but was not hot at all. Still might go back & give them another shot. read more

The incline district has truly become a small charming area, I don't come up here enough. I'm shocked that this was my first visit to BLOC Coffee Company. I loved that there was ample street parking nearby - it makes it much easier as a remote worker to come camp out and get lots of work done. When I arrived it was quite busy, but I was able to find a spot to work on the back side of the coffee bar, though it was quite cold in that area and I kept my jacket on while working. I ordered an iced coffee since they didn't have cold brew - I'd LOVE to see them add a cold brew to the menu (less acid makes it a lot easier on your stomach!). The caffeine was great though and the vibes were good. I also loved that they had outlets on the side of the bar area to plug in and keep working. I'll definitely add BLOC to my list of coffee shops that I hit up to camp out and get work done! read more
