The space seemed busy for people and there were people working in the space. The tea was okay. I requested more chai as it was milky. She added more to it for me which I appreciated. This is my favorite coffee shop. The atmosphere, the staff, the coffee- all brilliant. It's a default 'first meeting place' for me, and somewhere I like to go and drink coffee and get work done. The coffee is amazing and I know the staff is rigorously trained. The prices used to be astoundingly good, and that has changed a bit over the years, but such is life and I still think price point to coffee quality is a good value. Also, did you know you can bring your animals here? I've seen dogs, a chameleon, and even brought my own kittens. It's pretty great, especially if it's hot out and you can't leave a dog in the car. Every single person I've brought there has been impressed by the coffee. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is the hours. It's not a good place to hang out after a hard day at work - because it doesn't stay open very late most of the time. I've had to re-locate plans more than once because I tend to forget that. After having lunch across the street at Veracruz, my friend and I had about 30 minutes to kill. So we decided to grab some coffee and hangout here for a bit. My first impression was that this place feels tight and cluttered. There are a lot of tables and they are all pretty close together. To be fair, many of these tables were in use and I don't doubt they need all of them, but it's unappealing to someone like me who prefers a good amount of distance from any nearby strangers. Luckily, I was with a friend and there was an open couch in the corner, which is where we sat. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Prior to any sitting, we walked right up to the counter (no wait) and ordered our drinks. I asked the guy at the counter about the Gold Latte and how sweet it was. I prefer my coffee drinks to taste like coffee, so I was nervous the honey would be overpowering. His response was that the drink was made with 10 grams of honey... holy cow, that is very specific!! And actually, it was also really helpful, because I am an avid food-weigher, so I knew exactly how much honey that was. So I went ahead and ordered it! Honestly, I didn't like it. But it had nothing to do with the quality of the coffee. I think it was just too spicy for me with the turmeric. Oh, well. My friend got a blueberry & strawberry fruit smoothie and it was incredibly delicious. I had a couple sips and I think my favorite part was how natural it tasted. It wasn't overly sweet, it was perfect. This wasn't my favorite coffee shop in the Cincinnati area, but it's still a good one, with a friendly and kind staff. We tell the baristo we're a little undecided and the cop chimes in "get the cold brew, trust me." Not being one to defy authority, I quickly order one with the baristos nodding approval. Holy cow. I mean, holy awesome coffee cow. Deep, flavorful, strong, inexpensive, amazing, wonderful, insert adjective here. One of the best cold brews I've ever had. You've got Tazza Mia, annnnnd... this place (if you're reading this & know of other options... do tell!). Nationally recognized roasters aren't anywhere to be seen (Intelligentsia, Stumptown, etc.), so you've got local roasters to rely on, and Corner BLOC sources from a local roaster. I lived in Cincinnati for 9 months in 2006, and I frequently visit for weekends, and (for shame) I have never-never-never visited the West Side. I have a sneaking suspicion that many locals have done the same way. Guess. What. Corner BLOC is a perfect reason to go West. Once you've wound through the hills and roads to get to Price Hill you feel like you just trekked to a far off land for a cup of black gold. Once you arrive you realize it's all worth it. Then you see their pour over bar and it's all sort of "I'm in Dr. Frankenstein's Coffee Lab" Steam punk badassery. I've had cups of coffee with seemingly complete Hario experiences. Then, BLOC went all Hario holistic and handground the beans with the Hario grinder. I felt sorta bad ordering it once the line stacked up 5 deep after the order (note: no one behind me when ordering). Solid cup. But... I have to say... as much love as BLOC is putting into their brewing process... they need perfect roasters, not almost perfect roasters. Granted though, I had one cup... which isn't a proper purview of judging a roaster at all. There's ample seating, wi fi, lounge space, a huge drink menu, and free parking. I'd be here 6 days a week if I lived in the Nati, and I'd grow to appreciate the trek there. read more

There is a running joke among friends to "Bloc off your whole morning" if you want to grab a coffee to-go from there. My wife and I stopped here on a beautiful Saturday morning. The excellent reviews drew us in, plus the known quality of the roaster they use for their coffee (La Terza). The environment was very calming and laid back - people working on their laptops, chatting, hanging out. The decor is a bit funky with mismatched chairs (similar to most coffee shops). Very clean and open, with big windows at the front to let in the sunshine. The space is just about perfect for a coffee shop. But the thing that really impresses is the coffee. The barista was very very good - talking about different brewing methods while she put together a smoothie for my wife and a cappuccino and an espresso for me. She didn't waste a spare motion, cleaned up as she worked, warmed our food, discoursed upon the sweetness of the coffee from the Chemex method and the speed and consistency of the Hario drip method, and before I knew it, all of our stuff was ready. Everything was good - the espresso was lively and had no bitterness, my wife really enjoyed her blackberry mango smoothie, the eats were excellent as well. Fantastic ingredients crafted into excellent food and drink with interesting conversation not just from the barista but also the lady at the bar training the service dog for the VA. This place is what every coffee shop should be. I've not been to a better one in Cincinnati, and it certainly holds up to the others I've tried in many other cities. read more

This place rocks! Literally. Live music, $1.50 cappuccino happy hours (what?!), and yoga classes (are you kidding me?!!). And I haven't even mentioned the coffee. I don't know much about the Cincinnati coffee scene, but the espresso is on par with good NYC stuff, and they have a huge selection of South American and other bean belt varieties. I had a super nice, juicy, chocolatey Guatemalan on a V60, and it was wonderfully done. Add a good selection of solid food (breakfast sandwiches, etc.), a big, quiet space to relax and work in, and a friendly staff, and you've got a coffee spot that puts other shops to shame. I visited the BLOC Coffee Company after work one day to finalize a report. I arrived around 5:45PM, and the place was empty. There were about five other individuals sprawled out over the two rooms (a third room was reserved for a private event). Street parking was easy to find, and walking in, I was instantly greeted by a smell of tea, coffee, and antique furniture. I took the barista's recommendation of a cappuccino and settled myself in the second room to work, with a view of the street. The cappuccino was $3.20 - quiet a steal when comparing the high quality and taste to that of other coffeehouses in Cincinnati. After about 15 minutes, the coffee shop began to fill with individuals who ventured out alone or were meeting others. The room became quite noisy as people chatted, but it complemented the ambiance that BLOC has created. I was slightly disappointed to learn they stop selling their sandwiches at 5PM - I was hoping to be able to try one of them - but this just gives me a reason to return on the weekend. Overall, it was a great place to go to work. While BLOC is a little out of the way from my apartment (with plenty of other coffeehouses between the two locations), I will definitely take the time to venture back! read more

I've lived in Price Hill for the past 10 years and was stoked to hear about a new coffee shop in the neighborhood and heard great things.... I went in to try the Iced Chai Latte and first, I asked for soy milk and they put whole milk in my drink... secondly, it was so heavy on the milk that I felt like I was drinking just milk with a hint of chai. I'm a huge chai tea fan and have been going all over the city to find good chai lattes and quite frankly I don't think I'd drink one from here again. This place is a hidden gem! To be honest, I was just looking for a place to work with WIFI around the area and happened to stop here. I was definitely surprised and happy I did so.
