We found this lovely restaurant because we attended a Yelp event here. We perused their menu while attending the event and knew that we were going to have to come back and try their brunch. The service was impeccable. They even remembered us from the event. The owner stopped by our table to say hello. She is such a ray of sunshine! The food was delicious. I enjoyed everything i had. The jerk chicken sandwich, pasta salad, and the grits. I sampled my husband's meal as well. He got the sweet potato waffles. We were thinking that the sweet potato would be infused in the waffle, but we were surprised to find the sweet potato toppings on top of the waffle. It was so scrumptious. While getting to sample a few light bites at Blondie & Jim's, my husband and I ordered more items to have dinner at this local restaurant. We had the privilege of meeting Blondie and talking to her about some of the menu items. She was fun and lovely. My two favorites - the chicken salad croissant and pimento cheese with candied bacon and pepper jelly. My husband loved the buffalo cauliflower; however, I found it to be too spicy and one piece was enough. We also grabbed the cornbread appetizer, which wasn't a standout. The menu is full of brunch items served on the weekend. I'm ready to come back to enjoy the chicken and waffles, plus Jim's biscuits and gravy. While there I also sampled the red beans and rice (yum) and cornbread salad (double yum). Several lunch and dinner items plus cocktails and drinks. We discovered Blondie & Jim's Bistro while looking for a place to grab a nice late lunch. This place is unique because everything served is made from scratch, no reheating, or microwaved. We ordered Sweet Potato Cornbread, Brussels Sprouts with Candied Bacon, Omelet (not on the menu) w/side of Country Fried Potatoes, & lastly Cream Puffs Stuffed with Chicken Salad to go. Super cute vibe! Sat outside and it was a lovely spot. Staff were super friendly. Food was good - felt like the portions were a bit too small. For instance, with the chicken and waffles, the waffles is plural but they only give one waffle but do give 3 pieces of chicken. This is located right in the heart of Norton Commons. We and friends were heading up to Cincy from Meade/Hardin Counties and needed a midway point for breakfast. Needed somewhere with quick access to I-71, open after 10 am, able to make reservations and a decent menu. Jackpot!!! We were greeted by one of the owners/chefs. She shared info about her menu, the inspirations, and the emphasis that food is made to protect your gut health. They offer classes that my friends and I plan to make the one hour drive at some point to experience. The review will be updated then. For now, the waffles were amazing. Both posted are seasonal. We have heard a lot of wonderful things about Blondie and Jim's Bistro and finally had the opportunity to give it a try! We came in on a Tuesday and were quickly greeted and seated by Blondie herself! She explained all food is real, made in house down to the salad dressing and nothing is processed or contains preservatives. We ordered flight of mimosas which you get choose four flavors and they are brought over in carafes. My husband chose the Bloody Mary. Both were amazing! I chose strawberry, mango, peach and watermelon and man! They are fresh juices and amazing flavor. You could tell the strawberry was so fresh and had a nice puree. After scanning the menu (though not large but very tasty) there were so many things that caught our eye. How to choose! We decided to do the salmon croquettes as an appetizer. Let me tell you...it summoned memories of sitting around my grandmother's table. They were amazing! For our main course (we were eating light) we decided on the paninis. I got the BJ panini (jerk chicken, Caramelized onions, and havarti). Jerk chicken is a dice roll, but the execution in balance of flavor, and the nice grill on the bread combined with the onions and melts havarti will be a sandwich I dream about. My husband got the broccoli cheddar beef and honestly we couldn't pick who won best order, which is a game we constantly play. The roast was cooked for 12 hours and so tender. The broccoli and cheese was fresh and nicely complimented the dish. Our sides were pasta salad and tomato basil soup. Because I have already written a dissertation of a review I will just end with you can't go wrong with anything you order. Me & my friend went for a girls brunch and it was perfect for that! The owner personally served us and gave us a little history behind the restaurant and how important it is that she makes her food conscientiously with no extra additives and keep food as fuel for your body. The owner came by to talk about the freshness of the food and cover popular items on the menu. I was very impressed with the service here! And not only that, the food and drinks were sooo good. The staff was very welcoming and continued to make sure we were attended to. The inside of the restaurant is fun and bright, but pretty small so plan accordingly. My rating comes from the food. I love Caribbean cuisine, but our food didn't blow me away. I was initially disappointed by my "Spritz", which was not an accurate recipe. We ordered the jerk chicken panini, which was good but nothing spectacular, and the jambalaya which lacked flavor. This place has been bookmarked in my Yelp since I heard they opened a second location in Norton Commons. I went for brunch which they only have on Saturdays and Sundays. We went at a time that the location wasn't as packed which was nice. It was open seating so my friend and I decided to sit at the bar. The decor is really pretty with pink walls and light colored flowers. I read the menu ahead of time so I knew my top two choices. We decided to get a mimosa pitcher. You can add in a flavor such as strawberry, mango, peach or blueberry. We went with the peach mimosa which was really good! Definitely try they flavor if you like peach if you decide to visit. I decided to get the B&J breakfast instead of the chicken and waffles. It took awhile for our food to come but it was because my friend had an add on that made the wait longer which was fine. This place is so gorgeous! You can tell a lot of thought was put into the interior, the menu items, and pretty much every detail of this place. I went with my mom and step-dad. I got the French toast casserole, my mom got the breakfast sandwich, and my step-dad got the shrimp and grits. The food exceeded all of our expectations. The texture of the French toast casserole was so good, I've never had anything like it. The breakfast sandwich was divine, particularly the eggs - I don't know how they got eggs to taste so much better than normal but I was amazed. I didn't personally try the shrimp and grits but I was told they were good, and that the shrimp was slightly over done. The only downside of our visit was that the place got busy pretty fast, and it seemed like they were a bit understaffed to handle the rush, but they staff was still so kind and I could tell they were doing their best! Our group had a reservation Friday night. Our table was ready when we arrived and Collin took our drink orders. Collin was a great server and did an amazing job waiting on our group. I had the flight of margaritas, which was 4 different options you can select. All the flavors were delicious. Next we ordered our meals. One of the owners let us know the specials. They are having Fish Fridays now. Several in our group ordered catfish specials while I ordered the pot roast beef meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals. There was a $5 up charge to change the sides with your meal, that isn't mentioned on menu. Also there's a 3% service charge for credit cards. Back to the food. My meal was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The greens and potato salad were so good as was the beef. There was a considerable amount of fat on my pot roast, unfortunately. They were out of brownies so I opted for the banana pudding after discussing how I like it with Ronnie. He's another owner that works in kitchen. Went for a workday lunch with my daughter & my dad. 3 other small tables seated when we arrived. Quickly ordered our lunch (salad, panini & pot roast). We waited for 45 min & still no food, so I asked waiter to pack up food to go. 10 min later still no food & daughter was now late to go back to work. I drove her to work while dad waited for food. 55min after ordered the food came out. I drove back to restaurant to get dad then back to her work so she could finally eat. Dad & I ate ours when we got home. My kale & sweet potato salad would've been really good with some texture in it (candied pecans or "Candied pig" they advertise would've been a great addition!) My dad's jerk chicken panini only had cheese on it (no chicken) and looked like a child's meal. My daughter's (cold) pot roast & grits were ok, but minimal meat-mostly grits. We were so disappointed because the place is cute & an interesting menu, but this was a total fail. And it's not a cheap lunch: $60 for three mediocre lunches with water that were delayed for no apparent reason. And not even an apology! read more

We had the special which was battered cod. I wasn't too happy that there wasn't up charge to change your sides because I didn't want slaw or rosemary potatoes. The way it came with the potatoes and she said the potatoes weren't very hot and she and she didn't notice much rosemary just a little bit at the end.. I found the fish to be delicious. The batter tasted almost like old style KFC. The fish was very flaky and fresh mac & cheese is very good different. It was kind of a sour based one like I used to get a blue boar. It had a very creamy thick cheese sauce and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I wouldn't suggest eating it all the time because the flavor would be a little overwhelming, but on occasion, it was very good. Also, I subbed in jambalaya. It was delicious. It had a very savory sauce. Rice is cooked perfectly. Sadly, they were out of cocktail sauce, which didn't help her much. I put ketchup on my fish and it was good quality. Restaurant is very clean and tidy restrooms too. We got I don't think it's on the menu. It was a special so don't quote me that you'll always be able to get the delicious fish. Service was attended and the day we were here they were having some kind of event with drawings. I really didn't even know this area existed. They've been out here rather strange parking out in the middle of the street on some sidewalk looking area. Normally, I'm not big on spending $50 meals, but she wanted to come here so we did. But if it's in your budget, I would recommend this place . the slaw is sweet and vinegar without any heat no horseradish or pepper and no creaminess to it Everything was pretty good. I really love this place! I never leave reviews but Blondie & Jim's Bistro was such a great experience both times I went. The restaurant is so cute and lively inside. The food is amazing. I loved the jambalaya I got. I saw another review that said it lacked flavor. I have to disagree - I found mine to be very flavorful without it being overpowered with spices. Lastly, I must say the best part is the service. The family that owns this place is so sweet and accommodating. Based on my first 5 star experience, I brought a group of friends for brunch. Once again, the food was delicious. 5 star. You can tell the meals are made from scratch. We also had a pitcher of mango mimosas, which complimented our experience and filled the hour that we waited for our food. In addition to the extremely long wait, the level of service I experienced the first time I visited was completely absent this time. We ordered an appetizer that arrived after we received our meals and after we had cancelled it. And we were still charged for it.
